Gave this place a second try and was extremely disappointed. The service was extremely slow both times. The first time we ordered veal, lamb and escargot, which were all super salty. This time, I figured I would order just a simple chicken alfredo pasta, and it was basically boiled chicken with flavorless alfredo sauce. Even the store bought jar sauce had more flavor than that! I've eaten at Italian restaurants in London, Rome, Chicago, and I can safely say this is by FAR THE best restaurant of this cusine I have ever eaten at in the last 30+ years! The wait stafe are always friendly and efficient, and if ANYTHING isn't quite right with your order (RARELY happens), they will immediately remove it and cook a replacement and wait until you have tasted it to ensure your satisfaction! The menu is varied and outstanding; the desert selection is to die for; the ambience is excellent, and the final element is that one wall is almost ENTIRELY taken up with a wine rack! I have never seen that before, and as one reviewer said, the choice ranges from reasonably priced single glasses to $1500 a bottle! Are there other Italian restaurants in Midland? Yes; is this THE best one? A resounding YES! Don't waste your money. I have been waiting to try this place for years and I was overall disappointed. Our waiter was very nice and the decor had a cute charm but a little outdated. At our table of 6, nobody was happy with their meal. The fettuccine alfredo was flavorless, the steak looked and tasted like it had been cooked in the oven, the lamb was overcooked, and the salmon (although a decent sauce flavor) had an odd color and left my family member feeling ill all evening. This was our first visit to Venezia. We enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance from the soft lighting and classic Italian décor. Started off with the Mad Men Old Fashioned which was very good. Our waitress was attentive and available. We ordered the Burrata Appetizer which was excellent. The flavors were fresh and vibrant. I am obsessed with the shaved garlic and perfectly dressed tomatoes in this dish. I ordered the Chefs special of Halibut Alla Veneto which was baked halibut finished with a lobster brandy cream sauce, shrimp and fresh tomato. The presentation of this dish was a little messy looking, however the incredible flavor of this dish made me not care about the presentation. The fish was cooked perfectly and the lobster cream sauce complemented it well. It was served with tender pasta topped with parmesan cheese and a bundle of wonderful smokey bacon wrapped asparagus. My husband ordered the ribeye which he claimed was also perfectly cooked and delicious, this did not stop him from eating half of my halibut dish and vowing to come back and order it tomorrow. We ordered the Tiramisu for dessert which was delicate and the flavor well balanced. Our waitress brought it out with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the serving dish to celebrate my birthday which was a nice touch. We are looking forward to coming back and trying the rum cake and other menu items. This is the worst restaurant I've ever been to! They didn't have any of the wines listed on the wine list. The hostess said that all the tables were booked, sat us in a corner but there was only three people there. And, we had to wait 15 minutes for them to search for wine to not have any of the three bottles selected available! Mother's Day Celebration Epic Fail. It wasn't a great experience, we went here to celebrate Mother's Day, to be fair, make sure you can get a good waiter/waitress, my Wife and I decided to try this Italian Restaurant even though we saw lots of negative feedback from google and yelp. They have us seated at the far end end of the restaurant, our server is named "RUTH", maybe she is not having a good day that is why her service is SUPER TERRIBLE, I would give ZERO STAR for the Service if there is an option for ZERO, the long wait is not worth it, we waited 27 minutes before the house bread comes in (we know because we were taking selfies when we got seated so we got the time stamp on the phone), another 23 minutes for the appetizer and salad to arrive, what adds up to the frustration is, Ruth haven't given us any utensils to use to eat the salad and the crab cake, we needed to get the attention of somebody else to get some forks for us to start eating, we waited another 22 minutes before the entrée arrived, we are about to stand up and leave good thing the food arrived already, at this point we already loss appetite and just decided to put it in the ToGo Boxes and just leave, not to mention Ruth forgot to bring my drinks and my kid's bread, I end up going to the reception to ask for my receipt so we can pay and leave because we know it will take forever again to get some help. I also want to call out that we were the first table to arrived in the far end of the restaurant but the 3 other table near us got served a lot faster, way faster, also their waiter checks on them from time to time, but us, we end up just my family and 3 glasses of water most of the time, it was a very bad experience, we felt like we are being neglected, we felt very small that moment, we will never come back to this restaurant. read more

The decor and service are the real stand outs here. This is an outstanding place to take a date or for a special occasion. It has a very charming rustic Italian feel. Some of the restaurant is cozy and intimate, and others are wide open for larger gatherings and parties. The service was excellent! Just try to get your water to half empty... unless you chug it, there is someone monitoring all the glasses in the room and comes by quickly. What stood out for me in the service area, the manager was serving wine to some ladies who have been having "a good time." Apparently one of them ordered another round, but when it arrived, one of the ladies was like.. oh.. we were just going to split a glass is that ok? You can just put that wine back in the bottle.. he tried to explain that once it was served he could not, but she didn't understand food safety apparently.. and thinks that everyone wants her germs..the manager didn't miss a beat, he went on to say that yes, he did have a tool that could do that, and he would remove one of the glasses from the bill. Obviously.. he won't be doing that, but he chose to make her happy instead. Good Job Sir! This is authentic Italian food! Which my wife loves and I don't really love... I like Americanized versions better. I had the rack of lamb.. this was to much for me personally.. as you can see in the picture.. it's basically the entire animal ribcage.. the only thing missing was the heart and face.. I can't even.. Our favorite Italian restaurant in Midland. My fiancé grew up in the northeast, and he says that this restaurant and Luigi's have character just like those in the east coast. We both are pasta lovers, and my all time favorite is the Eggplant parmigiana. I've had the manicotti and other seafood dishes, and the plating is wonderful. My fiancé enjoys the lasagna as well. Our favorite part of this restaurant is the dessert menu. My only criticism is that Tiramisu is not available every day, and that is our favorite dessert at the restaurant. However, you cannot go wrong with Italian wedding cake, german chocolate, tres leches, and pretty much every other dessert and dessert drink on the menu. We often shown up to Venezia only for the desserts (you're welcome for the hack). We never had any issue with the service here. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. Consistently good Italian food! We ate there last Friday night, which happened to be a beautiful evening for West Texas, so we sat on the patio. They had live music, which was a nice touch. The avocado appetizer is topped with a lobster bisque type sauce, it's to die for! They do have a large wine list and chocolate martinis! No wait hardly at 8 pm , staff was helpful and friendly . You just don't see service like this in midland at many dinner spots . The food was pretty good . They were out of allot or our favs (canaloni , broccoli and tiramisu) but we found great substitutes. There is beer and wine only no whiskey (husband likes whiskey ). Our sever was amazing . We will be back for sure !! Great patio area with lots of shade and character . It was on the expensive side but not ridiculous. We had bottle of wine - appetizer - two pasta dishes and one desert to split and our bill was 150 . For great food and service that's pretty good . I will say that we didn't get expensive wine so that saved the bill for us . I did like that we had a good selection of wine so that on just a weds nite we could have a 40 dollar bottle of wine but maybe when wanting to celebrate or have date nite they had all my favorites and fairly priced . The Venezia Restaurant is one of the best Italian and Fine Dining Restaurants in the Midland/Odessa area. This place is expensive but the food is completely worth it. I usually come to eat here for special occasions. They have great customer service. The food is always amazing and the desserts are heaven on earth. They have a beautiful outside patio. They have an extensive wine list. My favorite dish is the Veal Saltimbocca. For appetizer, I love ordering the escargot. Yes, snails. They are absolutely delicious. They prepare them perfectly and I will continue to order them every time. They are extraordinary. The Veal Saltimbocca comes with fettuccine Alfredo as a side and it's fresh made pasta and so good. This is a perfect spot for date night, it is romantic and also nice for big events. They also do catering. Me and my boyfriend always come for Valentine's Day and our Anniversary. If you do want to come for Valentines make sure you call at least 2-3 weeks in advance. I usually do it 6-8 weeks in advance. They do take reservations and that's the best way to go to avoid having to wait. read more

First off, our service was excellent! Tyree was the best waiter you could find anywhere in the world. He was so attentive in every aspect. We got the calamari to start off with and it was done perfectly. Next was the goat cheese salad which was big enough for 2 people. The Caesar salad was ok, the dressing really didn't have any flavor. The salmon was one of the specials of the day and both of our friends loved it. The scallops were also amazing. I got the chicken with wine butter sauce which was good, but hardly any sauce. If this restaurant made a few changes they would rate 5 stars. Tyree definitely made the night where the food fell short. We will be back as long as he is our waiter! read more

This pains me to write this review because my first and second time going to Venezia was enjoyable. But, my last visit was not so good. I ordered the rack of lamb. When my plate arrived. I noticed that the rack was cut and each section was cooked individually. Which made the meat tough and over cooked. The sauce was bland. However, my girlfriend's and granddaughters meals were good. I must comment that they serve good tea and cappuccinos. My next visit I'll go the safe route and just order spaghetti. read more

Five of us went to celebrate a birthday and my friend is now in the hospital with infectious food poisoning and is very ill. She's the only one of our group to eat the crab legs thank God but the rest of the food was less than marginal. Our server was nice but poorly trained and the place is dingy looking. The bar is closed now and when we asked why, we were told "do you know how much those licenses cost"? Actually I don't but I wanted a mojito. When I called the restaurant to report this, the girl who answered the phone listened to the story and when I asked if I should speak to the manager she said "if it would make you feel better". This is an older standalone building with older decor on the inside but it works because it still seems old world-ish. They have a really large wine selection here from everything from a basic $15 glass all the way up to a $15,000 bottle. Great menu options from appetizer all the way through the desert to the point that I had a very hard time picking some thing. You can easily order yourself $100 appetizer or you can just as easily order yourself a $14 plate of pasta which is great for all customers. It's really nice to have choices like that for those regular dinners out all the way up to a special occasion. We have the goat cheese salad and the wedge salad and split it so we both got to try each and they were amazing. Could've easily made them a meal. I ordered the pasta and the bowl was one of those that is so massive that even after eating it to the point of being stuffed it look like I had never touched it! I have dinner, lunch and a snack haha! Our waiter was very efficient and I feel like the prices are extremely reasonable. Oh Venezia's did you disappoint. Charging for water? I get that there's a drought, but raise the menu prices substantially and charge for water? Faux pas. Then there was the service. We ordered our salad and delayed ordering the entree, so they wouldn't collide. But they did. Barely into our salads, our entree arrived. Usually we split, and usually it comes served up in 2 dishes. Not this time. Our tiny table could not accommodate our salad dishes, the entree in its serving bowl, the 2 plates and massive serving utensils for us to divvy it up ourselves. I asked for the entree to be returned to the kitchen while we finished our salads, and that was the last we saw of our waiter. Another waiter brought out our re-cooked entree which we had to wait for. And no one ever stopped to check after that. We didn't even get the option to order wine with dinner. Really if I could give 3.5 stars I would. We had reservations for a Monday night at 7 and arrived at 7:02. We ended up having to wait for about 40 min for a table despite having reservations which was not cool at all. Once seated we were waited on quickly with drinks. I had a gingerbread white Russian that was very very tasty. For an appetizer, we had bruschetta which was also very tasty, but they melt the cheese on top and serve it warm. I've never had it served that way, but it was still good nonetheless. I ordered the shrimp and clam linguine which was so overwhelmingly fishy tasting I couldn't eat it. It was also served with a red sauce, something new for me as I have always had it with a white sauce. My gf had a chicken Fiorentina that wasn't all that flattering as well. The chicken was pretty rubbery and overcooked IMO. The best entree was my stepdad's ravioli. Overall it was pretty good and a nice experience minus the wait time despite having reservations and some of the entrees were lacking. I would give it another try though in the future. read more

My family went on my birthday. Feeling festive, I splurge and ordered the "King Crab Legs" (verbatim) priced at $130 off of the menu. I expected for $130 I would get a minimum of two of the largest legs, presented on an oversized platter with fanfare. (which I what you get at every fine restaurant I have been to. What I got was one (not two) short leg cut down the middle. I got maybe eight bites out of it, equal to ~ $16.25 a bite.
