A friend recommended this restaurant as I was in Midland for the night. I had dinner there and the waiter told me that the owner is Italian and he might come by to greed me. Well Mr. Scarcelli not only said hello, but he sat down with me and made me try the special of the day (Brasato Barolo). This was an extreme disappointment. We have eaten at this restaurant for many years and it has always been fabulous. The food was sadly - disgusting. Table service was fantastic which was the silver lining of our dining experience. However, the manager and hostess were indescribably rude as we entered and they received the last business from my family forever. Manager was focused on flirting with the hostess. I do not know why this place does not get better reviews! Seriously the best thing I have eaten in Midland! My coworker and I strolled in super late. I saw veal picatta on the menu, but I really wanted chicken picatta. Not a problem! The staff was so accommodating. While I did not have any wine, the list was quite nice. I've been out west two years and have been craving seafood. That is the only thing that brought me to this establishment. The crab legs did not disappoint. A little over priced but they hit the spot. The pasta was good as well. I was not to fond of the wedge salad. Most likely due to the fact it wasn't one i was used to. I would also add that the lamb chops were on point. We went here with some business clients on a Tuesday night with no reservation and were seated within about 15 minutes. I would give the food and ambiance of the restaurant 4/5 stars but I would give the service on our particular night a 3/5. When the rest of our party arrived at the table our server didn't come by to take their drink order for at least 10 minutes. We were also recommended an appetizer that ended up costing $110 without being told the price beforehand. Mom was in town and wanted a decent dinner. 3 of us went to eat and I, naturally, tried everything. Below was my first and last experience at Venezia: I go to restaurants for the FOOD, therefore my 2 stars is solely based on FOOD quality. Ambiance and service pretty damn good. Now back to the FOOD which was honestly just a (angel) hair better than something like Fazoli's (which I have stayed clear of since college). Each of the three salads (wedge, spinach, Cesar) were average, truly average. Wedge had no blue cheese sting to it. Cesar was weak. And spinach was spinach. Entrees: Capellini al Salmone was far and away the best (4.5). However, it's all downhill from there. The namesake chicken, Venezia Chicken tasted like a pounded, boiled beast with a slab of sandwich cheese draped on top (fazoli's). Finally, the veal (sorry forgot specific dish) tasted exactly like my elementary cafeteria's Wednesday dish, Salisbury steak. After my last bite I could only think of the yelp review I read prior to going which said something like "I don't know why this place gets bad reviews"... prolly bc the kitchen is taking on those who don't cut it at Fazoli's. read more

This was the perfect way to celebrate our 10th anniversary! Ordered and had delivery to our home by a member of the owner's family who is always professional, friendly and courteous. The food from the appetizers to the main course, (Portofino Salmon) was exceptional beyond words and the portion size was enough for another meal for each of us; not to mention piping hot even with it being delivered. The wine "Stand out" was the perfect recommendation to go along with an unforgettable meal! I highly suggest everyone seeking a "not your typical" meal give Venezia's a try. You won't be sorry! I was at Sams Wholesale Club about a year ago and saw a guy pushing a basket full of bag salads, meats and some fish. A tall friend was with me and peered over the guys shoulder to get a peek at the company check he wrote to pay for the basket of food. The name of the company on the check was Venezia. Venezia does have a nice atmosphere, but is way over priced for a restaurant serving bag salads and meats purchased from Sams Wholesale. Maybe there are some good bag salads being sold which look and taste fresh but I sure haven't been able to find any here in Midland. Think I will stick with Luigi's which still tears fresh lettuce for their salads. read more

I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for somewhere special/different in Midland. We celebrated our three year anniversary in July & it was a great experience! We were not expecting this since many places in town have slow service & overpriced food. This place is the exception! Best service we've had in the two years we've lived here. Beautiful restaurant, poor service. The ham fisted chefs have no idea apparently of how to use spices for blended subtlety. I ordered Veal Picatta. A dish I enjoyed in multiple places. The ONLY flavor in this was lemon. Made my mouth pucker, even overwhelmed the capers. I ordered another veal dish. The only flavor that could be tasted was salt. Plus is was barely warm when served. The Saudi was congealing before I was half way through. The server was nice, but I had to get another to find him. Never again. I had better Italian through a drive through. read more

Definitely one of the classier places to eat in Midland, although you can still come in casual dress (I would avoid t-shirts with the sleeves cut off and grass stained jeans.) Great for a special occasion or if you're just in the mood for a nice dinner. Great wine selection and the food has never been disappointing. Staff is attentive without being annoying. Sat outside after being asked to be re-seated from a tiny table in the middle of the dining room, I expected better since I had made a reservation. Salmon appetizer was decent. Bread was good. The wine we selected had definitely gone bad and the waiter told us to just "let it air out" which is not going to fix the wine going bad... disappointing that there were no sommeliers. We both ordered veal which was not bad but probably like a 6/10 in my opinion. The tiramisu was about a 6/10 as well - the bread was a little too soggy. read more

Nice atmosphere, good service and great food!Only negative was the table was near a large party close to the entrance, even though I had a reservation. Wine selection was varied. I enjoyed the house Chardonnay. We chose the Calamari for our starter, which was good. I will try the Mozzarella Caprese next time. The main course was Garganelle Pizziola with Shrimp. Omg we used to live this place and was a go to for entertaining guests. Had not been there in awhile when i invited a friend to lunch there. It was crowded as usual . The water brought out our salads in huge bowl like platters when i say huge I mean Huge and mostly greens not much else.you could have fed a herd of rabbits for a week. Two small women sitting behind these huge bowls was embarrassing and even if the salad had been good we couldn't have eaten That much.The entree was forgettable bland tasteless. Good service hardly matters when the food is terrible! Id have to hear some really good things about them before id be convinced to go there again. Our party of eight, including two young children, are here last night. The atmosphere was that of a small intimate courtyard in Italy. The food was superb! Our waiter was very attentive & interacted with our group & made us feel like family. They also have an extensive wine list. Desserts are to die for. Ask for "Zippy" to wait on you. Very cool hidden restaurant in Midland. The food was delicious and the wine selection was nice too. I enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana with the house salad. Made a reservation for my girlfriend's birthday, they "lost my reservation". They found a table for us, fairly quickly. Other reviews and their website stated classy attire; unfortunately the attire was worse than Olive Garden. I could have gotten better food quality from Chef Boyardee. Chicken Parmesan was rubbery, ordered Duck Catchitorie, got undercooked pork in some sort of mushroom gravy. Took 20 min just for the waiter to take our drink order, another 10 to get the drinks. Someone couldn't poor a glass of wine as the glass was dripping as it was eventually set on the table. Wait staff was slow and inattentive. Food was subpar, and overpriced. Neither my girlfriend or I could stomach to eat even half our food. Will not go back. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We asked for break three different times and I think the worst part was that he genuinely didn't seem like he cared at all about taking care of us. I've lived in Midland my entire life and this was my first visit to Venezia's. My wife and I decided to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary here and we were not disappointed. We reserved a table on open table.com and we had no problems when we arrived at the restaurant, they even honored the request we made to have an indoor table. Our server Christian was awesome he was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. He did an amazing job, keep it up sir!! We started with the calamari for our appetizer. It was very well prepared, not over battered, well seasoned, and great portion size. We both had a house salad that came with a house dressing that was amazing. For our entrees, my wife had the fettuccine alfredo that was not dripping in grease but was sauced perfectly and cooked to perfection. The sauce stuck to the noodles and not to the bottom of the plate like some cheap Italian restaurants it was great!! She add the shrimp to her plate as well, they had an amazing butter flavor to them that was awesome. I had the ribeye cooked medium rare. It was cooked with that nice pink center all the way through just like it should be. The seasoning was very subtle and did not take away from the natural flavor of the meat. We did not save room for dessert unfortunately but definitely will next time! Oh yeah we will be back!! To say the least we had an amazing time for our first experience here at Venezia's!! read more
