    My first meg
    Paul M.

I attempted a shore dive with some old used gear and had my inflater hose break in half on me, was a fun swim back in. I stopped at venice dive center and they were able to have me water ready again. After talking with the guys there i ended up getting on a charter the next day and found my first Meg. Captain Nick was great and the dive master Ben was awesome. Explained what to look for and all the various types of fossils you can find and then identified everything that was brought up.

I have been onboard many times with Venice Dive/Charter. The most fun on the boat charter on the water? LOL. Yeah. Ben, the divemaster, is, no question, the most experienced and best MEG diver on the planet. I noted some complaints on Yelp that Ben dives for MEGS. That is true. To that end, EVERY DIVE is on the best MEG sea bottom around Venice. Ben will put you on the MEGS. You need to pick them up. You will find huge MEGS with Venice--this is not a tourist cruise out to a sand bed. The boat is big--you have room to move around. Captain Nick helps the divers into and out of the water; safety is a priority in Venice. Thy likes to roll at 7 am and are back at the dock by 11: am--great. The charter is part of Venice Dive Center--the only store in Venice, and they are full-service. Parking and bathrooms, even a restaurants within a few feet of the slip.

Highly recommend Venice dive center... I would give them 10 out of 10 stars for their great accommodations. My husband did a 1 tank dive while our toddlers and I bubble watched from the top with pure joy. The captain and active divers were helpful & fun. They found lots of fossils and most important (according to my 5 year old) they brought up megladon teeth! This is a must stop if you want to go beyond the shark teeth sifting on the beach.

I enjoyed my many days of diving with Venice Dive Center! DM Ben, Cpt Nick and of course Dave. I will only dive in Venice with VDC when I am in the area again.

Big boat with lots of room. These guys are great for a two tank dive when you can't be out all day. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Steve Thacker used to be a geologist and the man knows his stuff! He'll give a run through of the bones and teeth you will find at the bottom and take you to 2 different locations for big and small sharks teeth, some of which are jewelry-grade and would be lovely on a necklace. There were cold drinks (water and soda) on the boat and cookies were passed around between the 2 dives, though my husband and I would have preferred fresh fruit. Russ was the helper on-board today, great guy who grew up here and going to school in TN right now and working here during the Summer, very helpful and made it easy for us when we were queasy from the boat rocking :). The shop is fully outfitted with gear and equipment and shark's teeth in case you want to buy them and tell friends at home that you scoured the bottom of the ocean for it :). Afterwards make sure to grab a beer and a bite at Fisherman's Wharf.

Staffed by very experienced knowledgeable and helpful people it offers equipment sales, service, rentals and dive trips. I had a great time with them diving and strongly recommend them. It's an especially rare treat to have no rushing going on. As most dives are shallow, 90 min a tank is normal for most divers and their two tank trip gives you 2 x 90 min on the shallow stuff. Where else can you get that? Virtually all dive boats rush divers into less than 45 minutes. I rented gear for shore dives, did a dive boat trip and bought some minor gear. Loved it and will be back.

So stopped by here with their convenient and extensive choices for timing and duration of excursions .. if you just want to be out on the water to feel the breeze and not do much... totally worth the fees to have a boat for a day and have a meal and just chill swim and fish. Oh yeah... another thing I loved being able to go around saying "go get your ticket to BELOW ME (boat name)!" That humor is totally the vibe of the instructor and owner Joe and his hilarious wife Stephanie. They are so cute as they banter and give each other total grief and giggles... such entertainment!!! Love them! #CouplesGoals P.S. Checkout the Mexican place next door. Super convenient place for closing out the day.

We were informed of upcoming sales prior to our equipment investments and they allowed us to try items before buying them to help us make decisions. They have an indoor pool and offered more than once for us to get in and check things out, which was very appreciated. There is a no cash return policy clearly stated at the register, which simply means that if something isn't right they will exchange the item or, if necessary, give store credit. We haven't needed to do either but are very comfortable with their policy. When considering training, decide if you would like to take the traditional group class or would like to pay a bit more for private training. My husband did his Open Water training here. Following that, we both took the Nitrox class with Charlie. We both agreed that Charlie explained information well, was thorough and kept the class moving forward at a good pace.

We were vacationing im FL and stopped in to ScubaQuest to see what they had in their shop. Brandon greeted us and was super helpful showing us the travel BCs they had and the pros and cons of each. We decided on the Oceanic Biolites due to their compact size and Brandon had both of the ones we wanted in stock. They were offering a couple of different package deals with BC, regulator, etc. Brandon went over each with us and explained the differences. We settled on the Aqualung due to the lifetime parts guarantee. The dive shop has a pool on site but it was being renovated. Brandon told us that typically customers can try out all gear in the pool before buying it. We didn't get to try out our new gear but Brandon assured us that if we had any issues, he'd help us out. We really liked this shop and would definitely go back in the future.
