The bad reviews from many of the people below are completely hyperbolic and made by entitled Camarillo residents. My experience with an adult learning swimming class was educational, practical, and fun. Current in week 2 of 4, my fiancé and I are learning at a rapid pace. Our small class size is wonderful, and was well planned out by the staff. We have been able to practice with equipment for beginners, informed teachers, and wide open space dedicated for us. There was constant cleaning around us and the pool was warm enough from the get-go. I firmly believe the poor comments below are not accurate to an actual experience of someone who isn't a pretentious snob. read more

Signed up for baby swim classes here. According to their website description of the class, I was supposed to learn basic swim techniques and safe ways to handle my infant in the water. Unfortunately, we didn't do any of that. Class started late, nothing was taught to parents, could not hear a word the young instructor was saying. Gave us a toy to throw and have our baby "swim" towards it. After the first class I requested a refund. I spoke with John over the phone and he assured me that it was a fluke, the original teacher had called out and the girl who covered wasn't used to teaching a baby class. He asked me to go to class the following week and if I still wasn't satisfied, he would refund me. Went the following week, same thing. Called John, left a voicemail asking for a refund. No response. I didn't waste my time attending the rest of the classes. A few weeks later I get emailed a survey - I selected the box to have someone contact me. It's been another few weeks and no response. read more

Great place to do aqua aerobics. They also have hours for free swimming. Nice environment with showers.

This is a great pool, clean and well-managed. I just have to shake my head and laugh over the negative comments. I particularly appreciate the fact that it has a giant wall of roll up windows so there is plenty of ventilation. If I were to make a request, it would be to keep these windows open wider and remind temperature-sensitive swimmers who complain about the cold to wear a thermal layer. read more

My child took swim lessons here for a while. It was a good place to learn the basics. Stopped going because it was a bit far from us, plus the schedule changed and didn't fit our schedule anymore. read more

I'm starting this by prefacing that the pool itself is fine. I have no negative comments there. My friend and I wanted to start exercising via swimming; she works until the evening, and since the aquatic center is open until 9, we thought it might be a good option to go and swim here for an hour because it's $4 a person and neither of us have a lot to spare. Their website has no real information, so I called and asked if we can just come in and free swim anytime. Lady on the phone said yes. Great, awesome. We got there at 6 and they told us we'd have to come back at 8 because they were having a class right then. We were sort of frustrated but said okay, but when we came back at 8, they said "Sorry, you can't go swimming!" and it turned out that both the guy at the counter and the lady on the phone were wrong. They then clarified that free swim is only from 1 to 4 pm. We had several hours of our time wasted because the staff didn't know their own schedule, and we were really, really disappointed. We got our hopes up for nothing. All of this could have been avoided if either the woman on the phone or the man at the front desk the first time around told us what time free swim was, but evidently, neither of them knew and wasted our time. First and foremost, the pool is NOT saltwater, it is chlorinated. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise. Due to all the children in the pool I think they may over do it on the chemicals, my daughter had a reaction. The dressing/shower rooms are fairly clean. There was hair on the floor in the women's room. My preschooler is taking classes and the instructors are very hands-on and patient. Not once did I see them look at the clock which is a plus in my book. read more

Great public pool. Clean facility. Great for lap swimming. They keep it rather warm. Ove 80 degrees, which is a bit too warm when you are working out. But still a great place to swim. read more

$3 per person to swim. The pool is indoors, and there is a water slide on the deep end. This place was packed with kids. I brought my niece and 6 month old daughter here and they enjoyed it. On a side note: My older brother's friend's mom, used to bring us here when I was a kid (in reality, I was a tag-a-long) during the summer over 20 years ago. Thinking of those distant memories brought back a smile as my own kid waded in the water. read more

My son was so excited to learn how to swim. I signed him up for level 2 thinking he would learn the basic techniques to swimming. During the 7 lessons, he learned how to tread water, grab something off the bottom of the pool and jump off the side. It wasn't until the 4th day when they did any thing resembling swimming. These sessions are 25 minutes long, which is rediculous. Especially for $80. There were 5 kids in his group which means my son received 5 minutes of instruction. I will admit, I did not look closely at the length of the lesson when signing him up. I thought I was paying for a longer class. That is my fault. The last 10 minutes of the class, the kids jumped off the wall. If my son jumped 1st, his class was over 5 minutes early which means he had a 20 minute class not 25. The instructors taught them the back stroke and free style and had the kids each swim a few feet. Never once did I see an instructor show my son the proper way to move his arms. In my opinion, this should've been taught day 1. I had to switch weeks due to a family emergency and was called 3 times by the staff to collect the $10 transfer fee. I informed them that I would pay in person because I didn't want to give my credit card number over the phone. Needless to say, the response I received wasn't nice. I'm not one of those moms who thinks my kid is great at everything. I know he's not, but he will have to repeat level 2 again because there wasn't proper instruction. I will make sure he receives this at another location because I refuse to return to the Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center. read more

Dirty, loud and crowded. Kids running everywhere and don't listen when the lifeguards tell them to stop. I'm also 99% sure my child contracted a skin condition that has cost me hundreds of dollars in dermatology visits, by using this pool. The women's locker room is also filthy. Hair all over the floor. Nice community pool with morning, lunch, and evening lap swimming. Classes and lessons are offered too. Went for evening lap swim, easily got a lane. Pay $3 to lifeguards at the front. Basic men's locker room, aka a changing room and communal shower room. Water doesn't seem over chlorinated and the guards are friendly! Will be back. read more

Pretty good lap swim hours, which is all that matters to me. Great price at $3, centrally located which is nice and friendly guards. The locker rooms are very basic and could use a more frequent hose down. The pool is dated and indoor but way better than some. Its salt water so the chlorine freaks may not enjoy. The open swim hours looked pretty normal. All in all, the pool is open quite a bit for the community which is great. read more

The pool is too cold although many people complain all the time they never change the temp. Staff is told to say the pool is 82 degrees like we're stupid. I've called parks and Recs management but this still don't make changes to the temp. Always cold especially in the summer. read more

I like coming here to swim. Clean pool, nice locker rooms with locks, curtained stalls for privacy, and a large open space inside the locker room so you don't feel cramped. My only complaint is there are only a few lanes. I'd like the pool to be larger. But it's an indoor pool, and sometimes that's nice! read more

Drove all the way from Ventura because the kid on the phone said it was open swimming till 2:30. So I drive all the way there and it's only lap swimming but he didn't tell me that. So now I have my son crying because I got him ready to go to the pool but it's only lap swimming. read more

I have been coming to pleasant valley pool on and off for a couple years for lap swimming. It's enjoyable to swim there. The water temperature feels comfortable, and there are enough lanes to accommodate swimmers all the time. Presence of attentive life guards is assuring to a beginner like me. Locker room is reasonably clean 90% of time. Shower temp can change greatly within seconds, but not unbearable. In general, it's a very good facility I would recommend to my family and friends. read more

Aquasize class Tuesday and Thursday nights with Chase are a highlight of my week. It is a great exercise class and I love how he keeps changing up the exercises that we do. He makes it a great class for all swimming abilities. read more
