Waitress was nice, but was ill prepared to wait on us...no idea of what beer they had. The kitchen was running behind, which we were told. There was a home swimming meet and basketball games at the University. It was also the last chance for students to move back to campus prior to an upcoming snow storm. They were gonna be busy, folks. They were not well prepared for the crowd. Apparently, forethought was lacking. The food was ok. Bar food that met our expectations. Fresh cut fries were a nice touch. Have eaten there before....pretty cool place with ok food in a town without a lot of choices. I'd eat there again.

On a previous visit, we seated ourselves as we had always done in the past and were scolded as though we were were children that had something wrong wrong because the policy had changed. So this time, when we saw a sign on the patio saying to wait to be seated, we did exactly that. Within not even a moment, the same waitress approached us with an attitude, asking "are we waiting on something or what are we doing" We explained that we were simply following the sign and what we had been told last time, but she continued making comments. Later, my aunt overheard her talking negatively about our table to another employee, and after they realized my aunt over heard she continued making comments directly to her as she tried walking past to go back to the table. When my aunt dismissed the initiative by symply saying she wasnt going to discuss it they laby responded by saying thats probably for the best and continued anyway as my aunt walked away. When I finally asked if there was an issue, she became argumentative rather than simply acknowledging the misunderstanding. We had no problem following the seating policy--There was just absolutely no reason for the hostility from the moment we arrived. It's a shame because we genuinely enjoy this restaurant and the food is always excellent, but this particular service experience was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional.

Food was good. I had the haddock and baked potato. Portions were good and they were very accommodating. The manager/owner came to check in with the bride several times to make sure all was well. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. I noticed it was a lot of older couples, like a popular dinner spot for older patrons (how the Triangle used to be) - but that didn't matter we enjoyed our company.
