My sister and I were looking for a new dog groomer around the neighborhood and received terrible customer service from this location. I called them in advance to ask a few questions, spoke with Laura. Just to make sure they would be comfortable taking our dog. I informed her that he was a senior dog, enucleated OU (both eyes removed), and he takes a sedative so he would be more calm for the grooming. She said it would be fine , as long as he was up to date with all his vaccines. We understood and scheduled an appointment with them. When my sister arrived, the groomer Jesus immediately declined service. His reasoning was he didn't feel comfortable because of the dog age and being blind. He looked at him disgustingly. It's upsetting because all this information was disclosed over the phone beforehand. It was just a big waste of time. Learn how to communicate better and don't be disrespectful to new possible clients. read more

I took my dog here to simply get his nails cut, and he came out with bruises. The guy initially denied it happened there, then he said my dog must have bumped his head(and face and neck) while he was restrained on the table. He said it was common when dogs move around too much. I guess it's weird that my dog doesn't like getting his nails cut, such an uncommon behavior. It's unacceptable, no apology or nothing. I messaged a friend who has his own grooming business, and his said that the bruises should never have happened, and it's not common for dogs to get them while getting their nails cut. My dog was in there for maybe 5 min, and came out looking beat up and scared. We love Dalila's. The groomer is always super friendly with our dog. Our puppy isn't scared of going in for grooming either which tells me he's treated well. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our puppy always comes out looking normal and not like a circus animal or with an uneven cut. They don't use any weird, toxic perfumes on him that make him smell flowery either. First time at Dalila's and I am very satisfied with the service, although it was pricey. I called last week to book an appointment and was sent text reminders for the date of service. The staff was friendly to me and my dog. It was his first grooming as a 4 year old (rescue, 32 lbs, double coated) and was very nervous. He is not aggressive but not friendly to strangers. The groomer suggested we put a muzzle on him. I was worried because he was very scared of the situation and had to get dragged in. They said to come back in 1.5 hours and it'd be $82 for bath, paw trim, nail cut and sanitary wash. When I went back to pick him up he came out happy as ever! Bright faced, chest out and tail wagging. He was super clean and soft and the groomer made sure I was satisfied with the final result before letting me walk out. read more

I will never ever go to any groomers!! My dog was first groomed by Miguel when he was a baby and after that we had to move to Houston and I have tried multiple places to groom my dog and my dog had a cut(which I can understand sometimes it can happen if it's a minor scar or cut) my problem with other groomers that I tried was never the price even tho most groomers I paid over $150 for a yorkie. What I care is the quality of work and that my dog is safe and taken care. We moved back this year Jan and I looked for groomers in Manhattan either they don't have availability or did an awful job. I finally called Venus and got my Kuma to Miguel who again is always very friendly and took my baby in and got him out in an hour looking so handsome. I was told by most groomers that they would just file his nails and can't be trimmed as they were black but Miguel explained and trimmed them all beautifully. Both the owners are great and if you explain better in what you are looking for I'm sure they will take care of you. We also have to understand that it's a very difficult job for example my Kuma won't let me touch his paw to even massage it with balm. They are groomers not magicians!! Thank you. read more

I've been taking my schnauzer here since it opened up, I've since moved to NJ and still bring my dog here. He's an aging schnauzer now at 12 years old and they always treat him well. I've been looking for a local groomer for my (3) girls and I stopped in while I was on a walk with them. The girl at the front was informative and I made an appointment for that Sunday. It was great that they were specific about the vaccines needed. When I arrived we discussed their needs, they're all rescues and (2) have never been to a groomer before and have recently just been getting used to people touching them so I was a bit nervous of how they'd be. She told me that they'd never force anything on them and would take the grooming in stages. When I picked them up they seemed relaxed and looked great! They listened to my requests of not taking off too much hair on my chi/terrier mix. My other baby needed one more vax updated so I'm bringing her back. They were on time and my babies were happy and that's what matters to me the most! I'm looking forward to having them be their regular groomers and bringing my kinda sorta problem pupper in. I saw Venus & Dalila around the neighborhood, and "Like" it on Facebook. I couldn't wait to try them out with my two Shih Tzus. I live close by, and really hoped they would be nice to my dogs. Miguel was so nice, he shows he loves dogs, and would take good care of mine. I asked to cut my dogs' hair short, since it's hot, and they're both boys (sorry, no bows and clips), and to do a mohawk. They each have a different style, and he even gave one of my dogs eyelashes, which makes him look very cute! I had a horrible experience with the place and the people working there, if only I could give it minus stars. First of all, the price quoted on the phone was different from the price charged later. They charged me $50 extra. Secondly, when I protested against the price, the dog groomer literally dragged my dog to give him back to me. I would expect a dog groomer to be fond of dogs, if not love them. But this guy(Miguel I think) seemed to detest his job and DOGS. I don't know y he is working as a groomer. Lastly, when I went to pick my dog, there was a big cut on my dog's ears from the razor. Instead of apologizing, he said this is a normal affair during grooming! He has left my dog traumatized!! I have been away from NY for a year and resorted to grooming my own dog. We just came back from Pennsylvania and my old man was in desperate need for a haircut. It's been a hassle to find a groomer who would cut him the way that I want and also be able to deal with him because he can be grumpy when he goes to the groomer. He has to be muzzled at first but they always get him to let them clean his face up just right. I have always enjoyed his hair cuts when I come and get him. I also love how they're always helpful and happy on the phone whenever I call to make an appointment. Getting the phone call when he's ready for me to come and get him is also very helpful in that I don't have to call them to find out when to come over and over. The price is definitely worth it because I have a poodle mix so grooming is always on the pricier side no matter where I go. The staff here reassured me that everything was going to be okay and didn't even want or need to use the muzzles I brought. This groomer is the BEST! I have a long haired Persian cat who gets very matted and in need of a groom every now and then. It's really hard to find not only a cat groomer who isn't insanely overpriced but one that does a good job. Venus and Dalila has cut my Cat twice and the results are amazing! They charge under $100 for a cat full groom which is unheard of in NYC. My cat always looks great when I pick him up and his fur grows back very nicely after his cuts. I would absolutely recommend this groomer for anyone looking for a good kitty cut! They also are the sweetest owners ever and so accommodating. My dog is pretty shy and reserved, but he knows Miguel and whenever he gets his grooming done from here, he comes out with a huge smile, happy and relaxed. Went to this pet store brought my Frenchie a pair of shoes, common sense its a dog she would have to walk outside with them to see if they would fall off,my dog walked a block with them on they were falling off her paws took them off went back the following day to return or exchange them. no such luck the saleswoman ask the owner he didn't even look at them and said we can't return them cause the dog wore them!
