Avoid this place. I was quoted $90 over the phone, but somehow the price became $125 when I arrived. Before my dog was even finished, the front desk employee was already asking for a tip. A tip for what exactly? She said they work hard and the price would have been much more so maybe we should tip them can you say unprofessional! The worst part was that my dog came with a raw wound near his rear end that was not there before the appointment. When I pointed it out, there was no apology, no concern, and no accountability just an immediate attempt to blame me. Charging more than quoted, asking for tips before earning them, and returning a dog injured while refusing to take responsibility is unacceptable. My dog deserved better, and so did I. This place is great. I've been living in Forest Hills for eight years. I used to go to Petco, but I had an issue. This place was highly recommended so I said why not I'm gonna give it a shot as soon as I walked in. I realize I was in the right place and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The atmosphere is great great service. Most importantly they were very kind and helpful with my dog. I found out when I got there that they have daycare and overnights. I had an emergency out of town ended up having to keep my dog there for almost 9 days as I had a sudden emergency for almost 9 days. I couldn't be happier with the service they provided and when I got my dog back Marley, he had a big smile on his face so I know he was in good hands i'm glad I found this place and I haven't turned back there great. The store is filled with so many options! I have been trying to find the perfect size and best feeling bed for my Jug and the second she felt this bed she wouldn't get off of it. She finished all the food chew sticks in one day! This is the second time I take my dogs to this grooming facility, and I am pleased with the results every time the staff takes the time and they listen to what you really want. I asked both times for the teddy bear look and they did not disappoint, even though my dogs were matted they still took the time to take care of them and gave the final look as I was expecting. My fur babies did not seem overwhelmed or stressed out after I pick them up, which happened before at a different grooming spot . At first I was concerned they were going to shave them all but I was surprised they were patient and provided the service I was looking for. There isn't a lot of cat grooming places, mostly dogs hence me being hesitant & careful when choosing a groomer. 1st time was last yr, a found a kitten in my backyard & brought her to this place for grooming. 2nd time was yesterday. I brought Minkin, a cat I rescued at a hospital where I work. He needed a good bath and shaving of old matted fur. Alexandra (i hope i spelled it right) and her team took their time & utmost care w/ Minkin. He looks so much more handsome after his spa day & trim at Le Pitou. What made me love this place more is that Alexandra herself felt for Minkin; he is obviously malnourished & not in top shape, so she gave us a sample of this Stella & Chewy cat food that she herself gives to her kitties. Apart from Le Pitou being experienced w grooming cats, its comforting to know that the owner/ manager herself has and knows cats she said to update her about Minkin's health and we definitely will. I went through them after using someone else who is very good, but I was being a little more relaxed than I liked so I knew of Le Poitou from customers and friends decided to try them.Boy was I more than satisfied. I had the WORST experience here at Le Pitou. I called to schedule an appointment for my dog for grooming, and they told me the price for grooming over the phone was $87. I came in for my dog's appointment, and once he was done and they brought him out, they told me a new price that was much higher and were upcharging me, $107, I said that they had told me a different price over the phone, and they said I must've heard wrong, and that that is they're price. I also asked them to cut my dogs hair super short, and when he came out, they had left all his long fur on him. His ear fur was the same length as when I brought him in, as well as his legs, I don't even know what they did back there, but they definitely did not cut his fur, he came out looking the same exact way when I brought him in, and it was $110 down the trash. First time here with my Toy Poodle, Didi who is 10 years old and not always happy to be groomed. But Didi was very happy when she was all done. I must admit it was the best grooming my dog has had. My former groomer had stopped her business when she re-located out-of-state. I then tried a local groomer in my neighborhood which did not work out. I searched for a new groomer and found Le Pitou in Forest Hills. By this time, Didi was a little over-grown, past due for a grooming when I brought her in. Alexandra was so nice and understanding and took the time to talk to me and my mother. She met Didi and was confident her groomer would do her best and I am very pleased with the outcome. I bought a dog carrier here that is specifically meant for small dogs and my little pup tore right through the mesh in the front 2 days after I bought it. I went back to the store to get a refund because they clearly sold me a faulty product and they said no they couldn't. That's a terrible way to run a business. The manager or owner should definitely do something about this. This is terrible customer service and not a way to build customer trust at all. I love Le Pitou! I have two big Labradors, and these days some groomers are so used to all of those tiny 'dogs' that people have around the city that real dogs seem to scare them. Not Alexandra and Vinnie at Le Pitou. They are helpful, nice, and EXTREMELY GOOD at their jobs. My dogs are actually excited to go back for a bath and some pampering...which is about the biggest compliment that I can pay this place! I don't know about the grooming as I came here for the pet foods, although some have had a bad experience with the grooming here too. I went in for some food that Petco didn't have and le Poitou has had it in the past. The door was open and I walked in. Was met with a strange look. I said I was looking for some food. They didn't have it and tried to sell me something else that was not what I needed. I thanked them and left and they slammed the big metal gate door so hard it made a huge booming sound. 1. This place doesn't give a shit about your dog. Told them off the bat my dog has health problems and can't stand for prolonged periods of time. 2. Can't listen to instructions when you say that your dog only needs a trim. He's a golden retriever. Only needed a trim off the belly and back area. This was clearly stated to the groomer. I asked about the price, she said "like 45, 50". What does that even mean, "like"? And why the two Also their time is 8:30-6. Whole purpose of daycare is to drop your dog off so you can get to work. And for 45-50, I can just go to city near work and have reasonable daycare hours. Also I asked about grooming, she looked at me and also said like 65. "Like"? I took my dog elsewhere. Update: met a lady at another daycare, she mentioned about this store. She told me the owner told her the daycare price is $35. How can anyone trust this store? read more
