Our last visit was National Ice Cream Day where it was advertised that dogs would get ice cream in stores. I walked in and expected a table or some sort of advertisement but there was nothing which was unusual, I asked someone working there and they directed us to the fridge and said to grab a pint and wait at the register so that is exactly what we did. I guess it was a "if you know, you know" kind of event lol!! We came up to the counter and the cashier voided the ice cream, we just had to cover tax! Be prepared to wait when checking out. They have plenty of items for pets and they are the go to place as there aren't any small pet shops anymore. Prices are ok and a big variety. Checking out is another thing and I've heard people on line complaining. This morning for example, there was one cashier and the line grew and this poor fellow did it all, greeting customers with a small and, taking phone calls which held the line up. Never used their vaccination or grooming services before so don't have much to say about that. There isn't too many employees working here and usually, there's one or two people behind the counters. There is a line sometimes but it's usually not that bad. The service is efficient enough. My cat is allergic to chicken so it's kind of hard finding chicken free options for him. Chicken is in literally every product, even under the name of "meat by-products" since it's so cheap. There are a variety of options available though and usually I'm able to find something that works here. Definitely makes my life somewhat easier so I don't have to order his food online all the time. Maybe I'm just so used to having my Chewy order delivered that I'm too soft to shop for pet food in a retail store. I came here at around 5 pm on a weekday, and walked into the absolute chaos that is this Petco. Food isn't organized in any type of order, which made the brand I was looking for hard to find. After finding the cat food I needed, I thought the worst was behind me, but turned the corner to find the line to check out wrapped around the store. What is this, Trader Joe's? Almost a half hour later I got up to the counter to check out. That part was fine, and I was able to finally get out of there swiftly. I've had very positive experiences with the vaccination clinic at this location, but I've been trying to call the store for four days in a row, multiple times a day, and no one ever answers the phone. I need to follow up with the clinic staff, because the prescription refill they submitted is for the wrong weight class for our two dogs. I tried to resolve the issue online but was told that I had to speak with the clinicians at the local Petco location to get the order changed. When I've been in the store, I've seen many employees working, so I don't understand how there is no one there to physically answer the phone (and there's also no way for me to leave a message). I took my dog Bobo here for a trim, he had bad experience from previous groomer and I got Alex to take care of him. I was nervous since he was a bit traumatized from the last experience and I explained how I like him cut. After 3 hours Alex called back and said he was ready. When I came she took him to the front room and he was just walking around enjoying himself. That was very comforting for me. And his haircut was excellent, exactly that I like. She then looked in the Petco database to check my dog's immunization and told me one of his shots expired so he would not be able to get a bath. I was very aggravated. I was aggravated because they texted and called my phone to confirm the appointment but no one checked my dog's immunization record in the database before they wasted my time. So let me start this by saying that, I started taking my pet for vaccine at Petco on junction blvd, like the people and service. This location was far for me so I started going on east Elmhurst, I was approached by the trainer Emily, while I was purchasing some cloths for my pet and the package of 6 class is $300 something it cost me. When she took the CC she said "if you don't like classes after you try you can CALL AND CANCEL!! These people are the biggest liars I have ever come across. My mom passed away and I called to cancel as I don't know if I will be back. Spoke to the trainer Emily and she put me with the manager Called Sarah(that's what she said that she is the store manager) Sarah was rude and blunt, unapologetic and told me to call Petco CSR and speak to a manager and they will refund immediately. Asked her to send me email and she said can't and just call and they will refund. Called CSR Petco and spoke to the advisor called Rod and he said firstly, This is not possible, we can do nothing about this, secondly he said Sarah isn't a manager, so I asked him- are you saying she lied to me and he said yes, she isn't manager, so I spoke to the manager on the floor and she connected me back to the store and some lady by the name Jennifer said she is the GM of the store, and she said there is nothing she can do and that I have to come in person. So I asked her why wasn't I told that I have to be physically present for refund cuz this was important info, cuz I was told loud and clear that I could call and cancel anytime. she yelled and said "I DONT KNOW' and I asked her let me speak to who knows and what happens if a person is not in the country and not sure if that person will even come back. Came here (Jackson Heights Location) to get my dog groomed and I was already expecting a hefty price for it. It's usually $65 for my dog, but a lady at the grooming services came out her office to tell me she can't groom my dog unless I get her undercoat removed, which would cost another $25-- and all of it somehow turned out to be $110. My dog isn't that big, and she sure didn't have a thick undercoat like they claimed. I've been to this location for grooming and it's always a different story to get money out. I couldn't say no, my dog needed to be groomed. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm never bringing back my dog here for grooming services. Some cashiers are friendly, which is nice. There's always one spot in the store that always smells like pee. And they never have rainboots or flea shampoo for dogs available. I mean, whatever. It's the closest Petco near me. It'll do. I got over charge for a type of anemone because as the employee said if it's in the tank with the tag price on the tank that's the type of anemone it is. We tried to explain the difference to the worker as she didn't realize the difference between the condylactis anemone vs long tentacle. She said if it was the condylactis anemone it would've been in a different tank with the same price tag. She still charged me the sale price of $20 for the long tentaclbecause she said that's what the tag says it is. I was furious having to pay $10 more for something that was on sale for $10 . I will NEVER EVER order anything from Petco again. I placed an order specifically due to I needed an item for my pets surgery. Ordered it for same day delivery and was due at 2pm. I get an email saying delayed. I call customer service and get sent to INDIA. Indian #1 hangs up on me because he could not give an intelligent answer. Call back and Indian #2 tells me it will be here at 5pm. 5:30pm Door dash shows up with the items other than the collar I needed for my dog asap. call customer service and get Indian #2 again who is laughing and then tells me it will be here next day. Another incident happened over the summer where we were rejected by the vet, as well as 2 other people ahead of us. We were the last ones in line and one of the staff acknowledged that they will not take any more clients behind us. After waiting in line for an hour, the vet personally came over to the back of the line and rudely exclaimed she had to leave because she had to be somewhere and said we can get a coupon or discount for their clinic services next time. Excuse you, we didn't come here for discount or coupon and there will not be a "next time". Our pup needed her shots. A discount can't really compensate someone's time or a pup's health. I tried to ask for vaccination record but they wouldn't release it because we weren't checked in and we couldn't check into the system just for that reason. I wrote to the same email provided by the management when I wrote the previous review but no one EVER responded or followed up. WOW. Unbelievable. Professionalism, failed. Services, failed. Ella is the first groomer from any Petco I've visited overall that did such a thorough and amazing job with my goldendoodle. The prior groomers Ive had always left some matted knots or missed trimming areas, etc but Ella asked for more time so she could get everything done without rushing or overwhelming my dog. My dog went in very nervous and upset but was very calm and happy when I went to pick her up which is really reassuring that she was treated well in my absence and that's usually the biggest concern. I vaccinated my dog there less than a year ago, they vaccinated my dog but did not add lot number or badge number, making the vaccination record invalid. I called to try to solve the problem and first they answered and then decided to not answer the phone and hung up. They only needed to add the lot of the vaccines (DHPPI and lepto) offered that they. I bought two full training sessions for my dogs and the trainer was mostly on vacation or not in, we didn't receive any heads up when she would be out so we would show up and be told to leave because she wasn't in. Manager was not helpful at all offered us "private sessions" for more no shows by the The training itself was inadequate. Everyone knows consistency is key however this petco only works around their convenience and not their customers. I would not recommend the training sessions at all I don't think their trainer is experienced at all. Pretty much teaches the basics of sit go and come. If you want better training you are better off paying a specialized personal trainer. P.S I feel like they discriminated towards my pitbull as her class was along with another small dog and my pitbull is hyper. We were told twice to come back because she could not handle the hyper-ness or my pitbull puppy. This is the first time taking Cotton to this location sadly my local groomer at the Petco in Rego Park was sick. I was confident that I will receive the same level of service but I was disappointed. When I arrived to pick up Cotton the dog was desperate to get away and I was told that they spent more time on the face because he was moving. I paid and left but once on the taxi I start inspecting the dog and I found that he had multiple scratches and cuts on his belly and hind legs. I took my dog Winston to this PetCo for the first time based on a friends recommendation. I made an appointment and made the trek to Jackson Heights. The store has a huge parking lot so I was immediately happy! Scored a spot right up front. The store is tremendous.... big, clean and everything you can need under one roof. The grooming department is immediately to the right. Spotless. Winston was registered and being handled by Jennifer. We talked about Winston and she asked a bunch of questions while looking him over. (Is he allergic to anything, checked his nails and ears, etc). She said I could wait in the store or at a nearby cafe. Off I went. Winston was just about finished when I got back so I shopped a little while I waited. Jennifer found me in the store and Winston looked great. He seemed happy, was shiny and smelled good. She said he was well behaved and no trouble at all. He said his nails looked good and only had to trim a few. Honestly, this was a great experience. Convenient location, great parking and professional service. Jennifer was amazing and really seemed to handle my 72lb English Bulldog/Beagle mix really well. This review is being written on behalf of my puppy Lola. She loves this place. The minute she sees that I am pulling up into the parking lot she gets so excited. We go here every Sunday at noon for FREE puppy playtime. It was the best thing that we did because now Lola is not scared of other dogs. The people that work here are true animal lovers and it is very visible when they interact with my puppy. Sierra, puppy playtime leader and trainer, is amazing. My puppy loves her and runs to her when we walk in. The floors do need to be tended to more frequently because there are a lot of accidents. But I blame this on the dog owners. The actual staff and selections are great here. This is solely for the Vets on Saturdays. The process is chaotic to say the least. After waiting for over an hour I was told by the vet that my dog would not be able to receive rabies along with the rest of his vaccines because "she doesn't do it that way." I took my other shih tzu into the same location 4 months prior and had no problem getting ALL of the required shots for grooming at once. Don't understand the problem as they are both the same size, weight, and breed. I'm a busy mom with no time to stand online for another two hours when I've never had his issue with ANY vet in my 10 years of being a dog owner. AVOID this clinic if you expect to get shots done same day!!! I bought the starter kit aquarium spent over $150 they told me to go home and wait 24 hours and then come and buy the fish. I did that used everything they told me brought the fish home the first fish died just 12 hours later. Called the store they told me to bring it in they would give me a new fish drove all the way there I don't live nearby when I called they never told me about bringing the fish separate from the water. When I got there the extremely rude manager that has absolutely no skills to deal with the people she was so rude did not care that I had my six-year-old daughter next to me and she was extremely sad that her fish had died this woman told me no I will not give you a fish and I don't care that you drove all the way here and now you have to go back home and get just the water sample so I can give you another fish.
