New to Clarksville and trying to find a place to have a mani/pedi is turning into quite a task. I am amazed at the fact that salons in this area are not cleaning their equipment between customers. Crazy! I was referred to Venus by my neighbor, so I was hopeful it would meet my expectations. No obvious cleaning of equipment, my nail Polish was flaking off by the third day. First off my review is for the wax ONLY. Although, I have to admit the interior is beautiful and have no complaints regarding that. My main complaint is for the waxing area. It was clean but the woman who does it, though, she was thorough and friendly. I have noticed she double dipped into the wax with same depressor. She got wax in my hair...and not just a little. It either fell on the table but when I got home it was in my ponytail and even my bangs towards the front of my face. Now, I was just getting my underarms done, so wax shouldn't have been that close to my face. The main reason I'm complaining is because under my right arm is a burn, and it HURTS. read more

Not impressed. The staff is friendly, but it is overpriced. I paid $65 for an average mani/pedi. The manicure chairs are awkward and roll funny. The pedicure chairs are comfy. The nail tech had the water too hot and she walked away before I could tell her. My skin turned bright red it was so hot. I went into this nail salon expecting decent pricing considering the area it was in and the ratings. We were greeted when we walked in which was nice but expected from any professional business , asked what service we were wanting to receive. Both me and my sister were getting a pedicure and 1 nail fill. They immediately directed us to sit in a pedicure seat. They asked what kind I wanted, I said "basic, doesn't that one include callus removal?" She said no and said that one was $40 (not including an additional $30 for gel, $10 removal, $8 French tip.) a total of $88, not including the tip. So I politely asked her just to finish removing the gel because she had already started. She then proceeded to get up an walk to her manager who was 3 seats down and tell him we were changing our minds, he then told her to charge us now $20 for just the removal. Which was completely opposite of what was discussed before. I have never in my life paid $100 for a pedicure in a place that doesn't even serve you free wine or isn't in a big city. The only pro I saw was that they were very well staffed and got me in immediately. It is overpriced, THREE of my nails lifted and broke within a week of getting a full set. It was 55 dollars for just a simple short set of acrylics - nothing special. Overpriced and bad, BAD quality. And to add to my bad experience: I asked the nail tech to fix my thumb nail because it was far too long and she got visibly unhappy and then immediately started speaking in another language to a girl all the way across the salon - and laughing loudly. I showed the nail tech a photo, of very specific and not hard to do nails. He said it was easy and he could do it. I got nothing like the photo. I asked for acrylics that were strong also because I work with my hands, they are so thin I've already broken one and I'm on vacation and not even working! I have had a few good experiences here in the past but my last experience left me very unhappy. I had a gel fill and the nails turned out terrible. The tech tried several times to fix them but they just kept getting worse. The lengths and thinkness was uneven and she missed several spots of gel towards my cuticle. Lastly, the polish job was horrid. Since they were now super short, I asked for a new set to get back to my ideal length. They said I had to pay the difference from the fill to the new set. I just ended up getting a refund and hunting for someone else in town. You may get a good treatment here, but if you arnt happy, they will not take care of you as a customer. read more

In the past, I've come to Venus often to get my gel and acrylics, and I've never been disappointed. I've been away for awhile and had switched to getting SNS which Venus is now offering. When I asked them to do my SNS it turned out to be way too thick, they also didn't have many color options. They do pretty good at everything except SNS. read more

Usually when I come here I don't really have any complaints, if you get the right person, you'll leave very satisfied. But my last visit was anything but pleasant. First, I called before coming in to see how long the wait was for a full set, the lady told me 20-30 minutes. I get there at around 5:30 & put my name on the list. I waited over an hour. Standard mani/pedi visit. For being "The best in Clarksville"...I was disappointed. My nail polish was bubbly because she added thinner right before painting. She also put the wrong (more expensive) cream on my hands, and even after informing her, she still charged me the higher rate. There was no real effort made on my $40 pedicure. I wouldn't call it a massage (more like lotion application), and the two gals were just sort of absent and we used the word "lazy". Not impressed. I went to Venus Nails Spa for a pink and white fill and back fill. The place itself is nice, and the prices are standard. The stuff is friendly. When I walked out of the salon, my nails looked beautiful, HOWEVER, a couple of days later, when they started growing out, I noticed that they were not filed correctly at the root, next to the cuticles. Therefore, dried powder was not leveled with the nail and was sticking out and catching my hair when I was showering or just fixing it. I had to go to another salon and fix my nails in just a week and a half, because they did not look nice, and because it was very uncomfortable to do anything. read more

Went in for a mani and pedi, I'm a hairstylist, and I wait tables on the weekend, so not only am I always on my feet, my hands are always in water. My pedicure was fine, but I decided to do the dip polish after it was recommended to me, for both longevity and keeping my natural nails from splitting and breaking. It's been a week, after I was told I should only need to get it redone every 2-3 weeks, and not only has the dip polish lifted, one has chipped and ripped by natural nail. I will start by saying getting a mani-pedi isn't something I do often and if I hadn't received a gift card from a friend in preparation of bringing my boyfriend home from deployment tomorrow morning, I probably wouldn't have come. After my experience I wish I hadn't. I called this location last week to ask if they would accept the gift card I had, because it had Tiny Town Road location address on it, and I was told absolutely and that it wouldn't be a problem. However when I went to pay today the owner refused to accept my gift card and stated that since the locations are no longer under the same ownership that I couldn't use it. This was insanely frustrating and itself, and on top of that (though the lady that did them was very nice) my nails look like crap. I will not be returning here and I do not recommend it to anyone. She seemed to actually care to do a good job and wasn't just going through the motions. Chrissy did such a great job on my nails last week. They are so pretty. The place is beautiful and I'm glad they have some English girls. The only thing negative thing I could say would be that Chrissy needs to talk more, she is very quiet. I can handle not talking I suppose since she was concentrating on my nail designs but I like it better when there is more of a conversation. I tried this nail salon twice and walked away the second time vowing not to go back. Not only are they overpriced, but many of the employees are rude. The first time I went I had two young men working on my nails (I assume one was the owner's son or relative). They were both rude and unprofessional, checking their laptops and phones every few seconds and ignoring me completely. It felt almost as if my presence was annoying them. I gave the shop a second chance and went back to have solar nails applied. I was shared between the owner and another woman, who although nice, was extremely slow (it took over 1.5 hours and I was extremely disappointed with the work...the nails were very thick and artificial looking). When the owner took over he squared off the nails when I specifically asked for a round, more natural shape. I had to go back to another salon a week later to have them fixed. I had called ahead and asked how long the wait was and on the phone they said there wasn't one. I walked in about 5 mins later and there was a 30min wait and staff just lounging around... No big deal I guess. The tech charges me an extra $10 to soak my toes to remove prior polish?? Never have I been charged to take off polish. moving on to the manicure, nothing to remove this time but I had acrylics taken off about two weeks prior to going to this nail spa, my nails were healed and all I wanted was a clear coat so they wouldn't break as they grew out. I went to the new location for Venus Nails on Tiny Town Rd in the Publix shopping center. My husband had bought me a gif certificate for Valentine's Day for a Mani/Pedi and I finally had the chance to go. I expected to have a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon with a little pampering. Instead, I found myself in a stressful, rushed atmosphere, with rude employees, trying to upsale me from my gift certificate at every step along the way. He said, "Your gift card is only for the basic pedicure and manicure. Those are very bad. You need to pay more to get a good one." I also took my daughter with me and had her nails painted and they overcharged me. They only painted her nails but on the receipt charged me for a manicure. When I questioned it, they said it was a mistake, but only wanted to offer me gift card credit when I had paid on my credit card for her nails. They insisted it was impossible to return the difference to my credit card! I finally got them to give me cash for the difference, but they were very resistant! Horrible service and quality of my gel polish manicure. The nail tech kept trying to convince me to pick a different color. Then picked a different color on her own. I repeatedly asked if that was purple (I wanted grey) and she assured me it wasnt. Said it would show better after a few layers. Well 2 coats in and I noticed the bottle said "melting violet". I stopped her and told her it was suppose to be grey. She told me "she wasn't wrong and it was the color I picked" . Then agreed to do a third coat in grey. It's been 6 days and the gel Polish is already peeling off. Total waste of $40. Horrible and I will not return. read more

Uh no. Used this spa a few times. Some manicurists are better than others. One manicurist shaped my nail in concave shape, the opposite of rounded. Not even sure how you do that. After that fiasco, I refused to let her do my nails. Tried the "Love" salon and am much happier with them. Stopped by Venus yesterday for convenience and time to get a manicure. Big mistake. The facility is dirty, dingy, dark, staff is dressed poorly. I actually saw "Sinful" nail polish on the shelf which in my opinion is budget polish. My manicurist soaked my nails in cold water (that was a first), gave a poor hand massage, failed to apply a base coat, and did not have me dry my nails with the fan in between the two coats. 2 hours after leaving and having sat for 10 minutes with my hands under the fan when finished, my nails were still soft and yes smudged beyond belief as I tried to go about my day. Last time I went to this place and I payed $70 dollars and some change for a pedicure, because I used gel nail polish on my toes. I had never payed so much money for a pedicure in my life. I have gone price shopping at other places and the most they will charge me is $30 dollars for a pedicure with gel nail polish. They are going to run out of business because their prices are so high. If you want a real good quality pedicure from this place the price is $50.00 dollars if you use regular nail polish. The prices are just so high, I have no choice but to take myself to another place. If I could I would give them a no star review because of the prices being so high. Be ware they charge extra additional fees for anything that they can get away with. They charge $5.00 extra for things like removing nail polish and calluses. There are a lot of nail shops in town, and competition is at it's best, this business needs to realize that they cannot get away with their extra fees and high prices. I went here for a mani pedi the day of my sons wedding. I explained that it was a special day and I wanted a nice manicure. The pedi was great and the tech took special care. However the mani was a different story. The tech, owner or manager, spent the entire time barking orders to the other techs, while doing my nails. She cut my cuticle until it bleed and tried to stop it with a dirty towel. When she applied gel polish it was thick and wrinkled. I pointed this out to her and she put the top coat on extra thick to try and solve the problem. Again I pointed this out to her and she said it would dry. Had it not been a special occasion, I would have insisted she redo them, but I didn't want to cause a scene. Two of the nails were a mess before the day ended and the polish began to peel two days later. I paid $90 total and feel like the polish should have lasted at least a week. Never again!!!!! read more
