Price on yelp menu is not correct they charge more than yelp menu price. As a customer I really do Not appreciate the price difference. I feel like I was cheated out of a couple dollars. Unfortunately I did not get to try the food to know if it was good or not. Trying to achieve a late night birthday dinner with my beau at the only place that is vegan friendly and open in the area when they turn us away 45 minutes before they close. Please don't advertise that your open when you will turn folks away. The hostess was kind but the fact that the restaurant/kitchen is closed and refused to serve even a to go order is highly unacceptable and bad for business. Yeah, the reviews here are right on. Service is great and the food is delicious. This isn't like your average Mexican restaurant, however. This is Aztec, MesoAmerican and Mayan influences thrown in. I had the mole enchiladas and a side of sautéed plantains. It was great. The refried beans are black beans, which means they have better flavor! (In my humble opinion.) It's a nice touch they add to it to give the plate life by sprinkling queso fresco on them too. Never tried that before, but I remember Aaron from Chopped doing a commercial for it and saying its great. Anyway, I liked it. Lol They have a unique flavor here and I love it! Unbelievable meal!!! This was my first visit to Veracruz Cafe and I was blown away! The food was amazing and the service was the best I have every received. My entree' was delicious, the queso was so creamy and cheesy and the guacamole was some of the best I have ever eaten. Amazing! So glad I found this place! I ordered the Mole Xiqueno and it was awesome! Margaritas were perfect as other places make them weak. Get the desert cactus salad and split it with your date as well as the three dipping sauces for 2.50 to go with your chips. I will be back next week! read more

I WASN'T IMPRESSED: We called in an order to be picked up. The description of the steak fajitas along with the price made me think I would get some juicy meat that fell apart in your mouth. Not the case the were thin chewy strips of meat, not good when inside of a tortilla because the meat pulls out when you take a bite. My fiancé ordered chicken quesadillas some of them had all chicken and some all cheese and some of the cheese was burnt. Also the refried black beans and rice were bland. Maybe they had a new cook this night but this is my first and last time going there. I would give one star but I have to admit the guacamole and queso were both good. I spent over $50 as their prices are not cheap. The last thing I have to say is that the to go containers were all styrofoam and cheap, the food leaked out. read more

Terrible Service, horrible food. I honestly feel bad for people that walk into this place and think they're being served Mexican food. It is overpriced, tasteless and quite simply disgusting. Unfortunately, people go here based on the fancy names that they hide behind, and end up being served trash. Lighting is piss poor in this place, they have a curtain by the door as in you were walking onto a stage, the walls look like they haven't been painted in 30 years and there are two servers to wait on 20 tables. The food here is pow, bang, zip amazing! This is not a Mexican restaurant, its Myan cuisine. The staff was friendly. Its a medium restaurant, large television, nice quiet ambiance, vegetarian choices on the menu and pretty great all in all. Its right off of highway 67 heading south. This is only my third five star review. I have been eating here for a few years. It's simple. The service is superb, and the food is fantastic. Interesting ambiance, too. This is the only place where I've seen pork fajitas on the menu. Order the huasteca sauce to go with your chips and salsa. You will not be disappointed in Veracruz. read more

BUT, I was very disappointed to have such an awesome meal with "fake" tortillas (store plastic looking ones). You would think they could hire someone to make them from scratch. Went out of my way to order Veracruz Cafe through Uber Eats for my birthday. I was trying to recover a birthday dinner postponed by our sick baby. I requested extra tortillas for the two orders of fajitas. When our order arrived there were no tortillas for the fajitas and beans were spilled everywhere. I called and spoke to Joanna who passed me to Sergio, the manager on duty. I was certain there would be a reasonable response to this error. No apology. No solution. In fact, he asked me what I wanted them to do about the fact that I couldn't eat the meal I ordered. So, I asked for a refund. He told me I would have to bring all the food back in order to get a refund. Really? You don't send me my food after I pay extra fees just to patronize your restaurant but I have to be doubly inconvenienced by your incompetence? Is this truly an appropriate response to a situation created by employees? This is insulting. Delivery customers are not treated as equals to those who dine in? Who has time for this and on my birthday with a sick baby nonetheless!? Take my advice: the food is below mediocre. The chicken was tasteless and the grilled veggies were soggy and over cooked. I had the displeasure of gagging on the slimy veggies since I HAD NO TORTILLAS to disguise the mushiness. The customer service is deplorable. If you want good Tex Mex delivered to you go elsewhere. True South American cuisine. Don't go if you are looking for Tex-Mex, but if you go with an open mind and an empty stomach you will be very happy you found this place. My wife and I go here whenever we want to splurge on a great meal. The only negative is that when the place is full the acoustics are such that it gets very loud. The food is too expensive to be as bland and poor quality as it is. We ordered guac and queso compuesto and both were poor quality and not seasoned. Although they give you 3 scoops of guac and a big bowl of queso, it doesn't matter if it's not good. I had to add salt and lime to the guac. The queso taste like cheap fake cheese that got hard quick. The chips taste like they were bagged chips from the grocery store and they taste like fritos, which I hate. The waiter had about 6-7 tables to himself, so he was not attentive. It took over 10 minutes before someone came to take our order and he walked by us twice without saying anything and I had to stop him so we can order our food. They saved themselves 1 star with the entrees. The chimi was good and the marinated steak. I suggest skip the appetizers and stick with the entrees. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have been there many times and I have never had a bad meal. I have never had bad service. It has been great every single time. I almost always get the Mayan Chicken. It is very good. It is a flattened breaded piece of breast meat with veggies and potatoes. It comes with a lovely dipping sauce. This place is delicious. I got here at 8pm, and by 8:15 my plate was already in front of me. Not to mention the very polite and respectful servers. Here are some other observations: The water doesn't taste like tap water, the cheese (appetizer) is UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously, it tastes amazing. The chips are not too greasy they even look like they were baked which makes them perfect. I am from Veracruz, from the Huasteca, so I ordered the huasteca enchiladas. They did not taste like from the Huasteca at all, but they were tasty, nice flavor. Prices are fair. Definitely coming back if God pleases I have life. read more

Have always wanted to try the food here because it's so close. Took us almost 3 years and I regret waiting so long. The food is very good food and large portions. Most tender and evenly cut fajita meet I've ever had. Would have gotten 5 stars, but wish the server (who was very friendly) would have told us the fajita were large enough to share and the soda was flat. My sister LOVED the margaritas, but were so thick, straws were virtually useless. Will definitely return, but armed with the knowledge from our first experience. read more
