Veracruz Cafe was very crowded yet with no wait on a Sunday around lunchtime. We came in after a hike in the nearby Cedar Ridge Preserve. The shrimp tacos were really yummy, particularly the shrimp which were juicy and plump and cooked to perfection. That was the standout part of the meal. The tortillas they came in were really greasy, which was a con for me. Tortillas are perfect as they are; no need to drench them in oil. My dining partner also commented that his meal was unnecessarily oily. The beans and rice were tasty. I found the black beans to be almost a bit puréed/ missing that actual bean texture, but the flavor was there. Ambiance was fitting for a Mexican food restaurant, but the TV station selection was interesting- a game show in Spanish and Ms. Rachel for the kids, all in one room. It was loud in the establishment due to large crowds in more limited space, but not so bad I couldn't hear the person I was dining with. Not quite as good as Meso Maya, but similar genre of food. Prices pretty comparable to Meso Maya, maybe a hair higher. Didn't realize this was also a chain. Probably one of the better places to eat in the area and definitely satisfied my craving for some tacos! Give it a shot! Our server was friendly though I think had trouble hearing some of the things we were communicating. Overall we really enjoyed our meal here, and Veracruz earns a solid four stars.

We wanted to give the Veracruz Cafe a try. First thing First. The SERVICE was GREAT! We walked in the door and everyone we came in contact with was Great. Chips and salsa hit the table within moments of sitting as well as our water. Our server was on it! Excluding waiting on our to go order of Tres Leches, service was fast. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and looked very clean. I ordered the Birria tacos and they were nicely prepared. The broth could have been a bit better but overall they were good. My wife enjoyed her Conquistadors tocos as well . She also had the Tres Leches and said it was really delicious! She Loves/knows her dessert so I'm saying it must have been good. Over all Veracruz Cafe was a solid 3.5 Try it and enjoy!

First impression was bad from the beginning. Stood at the door and was not acknowledged for several minutes. It was a Friday night so I can forgive that. The place is loud, not like average loud but like nightclub loud. Either the acoustics are just THAT bad or everyone was shouting at each other. The food was WAY overpriced for what it was. They tried to sell you on blue corn, black beans, avocado slices and cotija cheese as "upscale" or higher end so they can charge $18 for 3 tostadas! Nothing came with them! The service was fast and the complimentary salsa was fantastic.

We were spending a whole weekend in Texas and was looking for a great Mexican restaurant in the area of our hotel. I looked on Yelp and didn't see a whole lot of options. We decided to drive to this location and were completely surprised when we got there. The place was super busy but we still got right in. It was a cute little village and we wished the rest of the shops were open at the time. The service was very fast, we got our food fast and it was absolutely delicious. I got enchiladas and my husband got fajitas.

Went here with a group of guys from my boyfriends work, everyone was silent once the food came out because of how delicious everything was! Several of his buddies mentioned how they never eat beans or rice from Mexican restaurants and everyone's plate was clean, including mine! The birria was sooooo good I usually don't like it from restaurants because I feel like the consome is watered down and lacking flavor. This was not! So much flavor and the tacos were loaded with meat. Will definitely be coming back to try more! Or re ordering the same plates :)

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! Despite being very busy, we were seated quickly and served consistently well. In addition to the server there is a person that comes around to keep the salsa, chips and drinks topped off. Seating options include: inside- tables and the bar, as well as outside tables. The ambiance inside is low lighting and ranch style tables. Their margaritas are top notch! Food is fresh and extremely flavorful. I ordered a salad that had chicken and shrimp and the flavor was so good that I didn't even use the two dressings that came with it on the side. If you're in the mood for Mexican food you can't go wrong here!

Fast, efficient service with a beautiful atmosphere. Amazing flavors, each time I visit. Packed house, lots of laughter and a variety of liquor choices. I tried the shrimp fajitas and chicken quesadillas with fresh grilled vegetables. A frozen house Magarita packed to go. More than enough food for one person please be prepared to share. You will leave happy, sated, and ready for your next visit. I highly recommend this establishment for friends, family or a solo meal. Thanks Veracruz

I came here on a Sunday for an early dinner. The atmosphere was very nice. They have a nice Mexico-style theme. The waiter was attentive, but he kind of kept rushing us. I had a mojito, with a guisada plate. The person I was with had the taco plate. The food was okay. The presentation was nice.

Sandra (waitstaff) was great assisting us with our order, very friendly, good customer service…read moreskills. Building was very nicely done & clean. Sitting area was perfect for my family. We ordered Enchiladas Chicken, Quesadilla plate, & they had Aguas Frescas. All the food was hot & taste great. Portions were perfect for the price. This definitely hit my Mexican food need, having been out of NM for 2 weeks. 3 adults eating for $43 wasn't bad at all.

After church, our pastor recommended this place for the tacos and menudo, and the menu offers so…read moremany options to choose from! Definitely authentic Mexican food and decent service. Polish up on your Spanish I was most impressed with the complimentary chips w/3 types of salsa and small bowls of frijoles a la charra for each of us YUM the beans were D-lish! I like to try what hasn't been reviewed yet so I had the Pozole Rojo (red hominy soup w/pork meat & spices) Very big serving bowl with lots of broth w/plain crisp tostadas x3. The Menudo and the Pozole were definitely at least a level 3 spice for me (but I'ma wimp when it comes to spice). The menudo, same generous size bowl, was too spicy for Ma so we took it to-go for my dad. Bro ordered Enchiladas Verdes plate w/chicken.. again very generous portion w/4 enchiladas rice n beans. The green sauce was a little spicy as well for him. He only ate half. Grandson ordered beef asada quesadilla plate which he loved served with rice and beans. Granddaughter ordered 2 plain bean and cheese tostadas but expected cheddar cheese and not queso fresco... well, I gobbled those up for her too! To drink, sweet tea has free refills, the large Jamaica was tasty, and the kids opted for Jarritos. It was 84.99 for three adults and two kids. A little pricy in my opinion but I'd go again to try more menu entrees.
