One of the older wineries around. Friendly service. Knowledgeable staff. Place has a very comfortable vibe to it. The wine is good.

This quaint, little winery is out in the beautiful, Virginian hills in Berryville. My family and I were served a delicious tasting of 7 wines that had such unique names from the 'Red Rooster' to the 'Pink Chicken.' The outside is so beautiful and luckily there were umbrellas on this hot summer to day to help shade from the sun. My choice was a bottle of the Rosé that made such a nice view even more satisfying with this honeysuckled pink wine. Did I mention the view? The staff was very helpful in deceiving each of the wines and I appreciated their smiles and good service upon making our bottle choices. It was a very nice afternoon.

Veramar vineyard is located in a gorgeous area and the winery grounds are very spacious and beautiful. We had their delicious sparkling rose. I would love to go back and try their other wines.

Love coming here. It is incredibly soothing and the staff are wonderful and knowledgeable about their wines. The best around! 2020!! Our spot for the new year! We've been regulars for more than 11 years. Fireplace going, mellow music in the background and lots of atmosphere. Will be taking a few pictures of the Veramar Lion (roar!). Hubby wants folks to know that it is a great first date place, even though ours was at the movie theater. LOL! Add Veramar to your MUST DO list!

We had a horrible experience when visiting Veramar vineyard. There were a ton of people onsite and definitely no staff onsite to provide the quality of service needed to accommodate all visitors. We gave Veramar a chance after being warned that the wine was not too appealing but sometimes you need to figure things out for yourself. When it comes to wine it is mostly up to the individuals taste. Saving you some time I will cut to the point. The wine was not good but it also was hot outside and by the time it could be enjoyed it was close to boiling. Why did it take so long to taste you ask? Cut to the kitchen order that was put in. Once again long story short it appeared that there was 1 staff member making all of the food. He missed patrons orders and made others orders incorrectly. The pickup line was ridiculously long and full of hangry people. Once we were able to find a table I watched our chairs (holding our flights outdoors in direct sunlight) while my other half wasted time and money ordering food and waiting inside approximately 30 minutes for food that never came. Me, being extremely patient waited 15-20 minutes before she came out and stated I might as well try the wine without her and she went back inside. Upon tasting the flight I was pretty grossed out and less than happy with finishing any of the wines. She returned 15 or 20 minutes later -empty handed-, aggravated and ready to leave. I agreed to her request and we wasted time, money and gas. Yes I can see how this review should reflect a 1 star but I gave 2 due to the initial Veramar employee that set us up with the tastings. She was courteous and willing to help. I don't foresee a revisit.

I visited Veramar Vineyard a few weeks ago with one of my best friends. It's a pretty small winery compared to others I've been to. They have plenty of parking including overflow parking. It wasn't very crowded when we went. When we walked in, we only had to wait a few minutes for them to wrap up with other customers, before being helped at the bar. They allowed us to sample a couple of wines before deciding on a bottle and we ultimately chose their seyval blanc. They also provide an ice bucket if you buy a bottle to enjoy on property. There is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the views. We sat in the grass on Adirondack chairs. There were some bugs/gnats flying around but it's expected for being in the grass. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here!

I saw a few vineyards have reopened, so after hiking raven rocks decided to check this one out. I saw on their website they recommended bringing your own blanket/chairs to sit on. In a time of social distancing, I think we are all trying to be cautious. I was a little disappointed that the vineyard's patio had so many tables that were close together, and aside from the staff almost no one was wearing masks. But, if you brought your own blanket it was easy to make a picnic and just wear your mask to buy wine. Gorgeous views and a great way to spend a sunny day (the rose we tried was pretty good, and the live music was a treat) but would appreciate seeing the tables spaced out more on the patio to ensure proper social distancing with large crowds!!

Road leading to the winery is generally Corvette friendly, last quarter mile dirt. Upon arrival they are dog friendly. The scenery is very nice as you'll see in my pictures. My Great Dane Chloe and I relaxed for a few hours. They have two different tastings one for members and one for guests. Upon recommendation I ordered Cab Franc. I usually only have one glass, but it was so good I had another. I also ordered pizza, the pizza was good. The guest wines are three whites and one red. I met the owner and the granddaughter both very nice and loved my dog. They also own Bogati and James Charles. Bogati is Argentina style, Veramar is Italian style and James Charles is French style. Veramar is a very nice winery, I would highly recommend them...

Nice little place, even if a bit far from the rest! Verimar has about 28 acres under vine (although not all growing yet), making most of their wines estate grown. Definite plus for me. I also like that it's a family business - they also run Bogati Bodega and James Charles. So if you like the wines at one, you'll likely enjoy the others. The grounds have a very Spanish-style look to them, but the interior had a very German log-cabin feel to it. Interesting blend, but I liked it. My server Tom recognized me from a previous visit to James Charles; you know you're drinking waaaaay to much when you can walk in a completely new place and people recognize you from elsewhere. Fortunately Tom was also really friendly and knowledgeable about all three places, and I ended up with a coupon for James Charles (hospitality - check). The whites were OK for me; but not being a white drinker that could almost be a compliment. The 2013 Chardonnay was more oaky than buttery, and the 2013 Seyval Blanc had a sweet nose but a dry finish. I also liked the Riesling/Vidal blend though; then again, Riesling is my favorite white so it's hard for me not to like it. The "Pink Chicken" rose had a nice color but didn't do anything for me. For the reds, the biggest surprise was the recently opened 2014 Cab Franc. Normally I'd be skeptical about such a young wine, but it turned out to be really good; little jammy but not harsh at all. Maybe this is a good indication for the future of other 2014s? That was unlike their Cab Sav, which I didn't like nearly as much. Actually my biggest surprise was the D'Ora desert wine. Normally desert wines are too sweet for me, but I could go for that one again; my favorite of the line-up.

The best vegan picnic lunch ever!!

Holy WOW. Maybe it's because I've been living in downtown RVA for too long and the city life is really getting to me, but I felt like I was in nature heaven at Veramar Vineyard! The picturesque rolling hills, the pond, the fountain, the cozy vibes inside...I was just in awe! Not to mention, this was a birthday treat for me, so after our tasting we had a pre planned and packaged picnic that was totally vegan! Imagine my delight, being in no man's land/ BBQ country and I have a vegan lunch all to myself complete with the BEST veggie wrap I have ever tried, a salad AND vegan...chocolate...bar. I just about died. I think the best part was knowing that this meal package was definitely not the norm, but the team over at Veramar had very carefully and expertly curated a gorgeous and delish plant based meal for us. It was stunning. I had the absolute best time and it was so beautiful. Definitely recommend- the wine is not my taste or style, but the views and accommodations alone are enough to go back again and again.

The review does not reflect the fact I did not get to try their wine, but rather the way I was treated when I attempted to plan a trip to visit the "right" way** We were driving past this spot on a nice Sunday, coming home from a family lunch, and thought why not stop in? I did not have a reservation because (as mentioned above) I wasn't aware of needing one and I wasnt sure when I would be able to stop in as I was just passing by (we live 1+ hour away). As we pulled into the long dirt road, the front gates have no clear sign that says 'By Appointment Only' - perhaps a good add before your clients drive up a steep unpaved road to just be turned away. None of the vines appeared to be in use so the drive up may be more beautiful one day when the grapes are on the vines. The parking lot is a bit cramped and full of fancy cars, giving us a taste of the type of clientele that would be inside. We came in and I inquired if I could do a wine tasting. The staff member told us we needed a reservation but that he would do his best to try to see if they had space - totally fine. My mistake again- I did not realize that this winery required reservations (no other winery I have been to in Charlottesville, Middleburg, or NOVA has done so) so my first assumption wasn't that I needed a reservation. Again, no sign at the front that says this and would have saved me time. The space was obviously gorgeous, the views spectacular and it felt very Napa and upscale. The staff member returned back and told us they couldn't accommodate us- ok, disappointing but ultimately is what it is. I asked the two staff members standing there how early they recommend making reservations, as we dont live in the area so I need to plan ahead. They told me it was hard to tell but that basically any time it's warm, it will be hard to get a reservation and that "Saturday visits are a pipe dream" and Sundays are "pretty impossible too". They then kindly told me "you could try to snag a reservation maybe a Thursday or Friday". Mind you, their hours are 12-5 on Thursday/Friday...I live an hour plus away, let alone with traffic. I guess my only options are to take off work to come visit as it seems there will be no chance for me to ever get a reservation for 2 on the weekends.... Needless to say, it felt like the staff really could care less for our future business and we politely left. The staff did not offer to help us book a future reservation or anything of that nature - just a snooty response that I probably shouldn't bother every attempting to return on a weekend. Hilarious enough, I decided to look up their website and low and behold - they had tasting reservations that same day at 3 PM (45 minutes after we first asked about a tasting) - no offer to us to wait or come back to return, just basically turned away. Cherry on top- they have tons of reservations open for future Saturdays and Sunday. If you don't want my business, you dont have to tell me twice. If I want to deal with pretentious folks, I'll fly to Napa and drink wine actually grown onsite.

Northern Virginia has a lot of winery options, but Bluemont offers a few things that make it special. First of all, it's huge - tons of indoor and outdoor seating on two levels. They take reservations. We made for one for noon on Saturday. We were seated upstairs/indoors but eventually moved to their upstairs deck (we were there for hours and wanted a change of scenery). Their views are incredible. You can see the Blue Ridge Mountains from practically anywhere on the property! I hadn't seen my friends in months, so we stayed for almost five hours. We started with their white wine flight, and then we had a few bottles, too. We also ate (beef empanadas, a flatbread, and some black bean hummus). We enjoyed most of the wines (between the flights and bottles, I think we tried 6 whites and 1 rose), and the food was pretty good, too. The service was great - Lily and Rose were our servers (there was a shift switch, since we were there for almost 5 hours) and they were wonderful. They were a little busy downstairs when we arrived, but it's such a large space that there was plenty of seating for more. (It seems to be a spot on wine tours, because there were a few buses when we arrived.) I'm not sure if you really need a reservation, but I'm glad we had one since our plan was to eat lunch at the winery. We had a great time at the winery. First, a shoutout to our wine server, Hannah, who was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wines without ever making us feel like we needed a sommelier certification to enjoy them. She guided us through the $20 tasting, which included a wonderful mix of whites and reds. It worked out perfectly because I'm a white wine fan while my husband prefers reds, so naturally we shared every pour and declared ourselves a two-person tasting committee. Now let's talk about the food. The truffle popcorn should probably come with a warning label because it is highly addictive. We kept saying "just one more handful" until the bowl mysteriously emptied itself. The fresh baguette with pimento dip was equally delicious and paired beautifully with the wines. The winery offers plenty of seating options, whether you prefer lounging on the grass, relaxing indoors, or enjoying the covered patio. We chose the covered patio, which provided the perfect balance of fresh air, vineyard views, and shade. And yes, I'm actually going to mention the bathrooms. They were some of the nicest winery restrooms I've encountered--modern, spotless, stylish, and clearly well-maintained. It's one of those little details that says a lot about the overall experience. Great wine, delicious food, beautiful setting, immaculate facilities, and outstanding service from Hannah. Greenhill Vineyards has earned every one of these five stars. We'll definitely be back for another "research trip" in the near future.

The wine selection is solid, and everything we tried was smooth, well-balanced, and easy to enjoy with friends. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax, take your time, and be present. What I love most about Greenhill is the vibe--it feels elevated without being pretentious. Just good wine, great views, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer.
