Love this cozy, intimate winery located in Loudoun County! On a warm fall Thursday afternoon, it wasn't busy at all. We did the $15 tasting, which came with 7 wines. I liked most of them, but my fave was the Malbec. The bottle prices weren't bad at all. Service by Jim was excellent. He was super personable and knowledgeable. Ugh. Fat-ass red is sour and unappealing. I even tried airing it out longer - - it didn't get better. Wifey bought a bottle, I ended up pouring most of it into bolognese/marinara sauce and cooking it down. It just wasn't an enjoyable wine. I've had better discount wines from Total Whine ;). I didn't care for this place at all. Sorry, just because you're a small winery doesn't mean you're a good one. Keep practicing, see if you can get better. The vibe is off, too contrived, too much demanding your love, almost narcissistic in their demeanor. Maybe they'll grow up and get a little better. Maybe will try them next year; see what a new year brings us. Then again, you can't swing a dead cat in this neighborhood without hitting a winery, so.....there's competition... read more

We decided to split the $15 tasting of 7 wines. My friend was driving. All were good. Stand out comments: the Tango Blu was my favorite and I bought a bottle. The blush wasn't pink but loved it and the strawberry came through. The fat ass red was really good and had a good story. I had planned on stopping here, but we kept going by this locate along the highway and said we got to stop. I was a bit confused when I arrived and parked in the back and walked into what I thought was the winery but a restaurant. Then I realized that the building has multiple businesses in the same building. We arrived at the winery at the right time. Nobody was really there. They had a couple trying wines and then us. Our waiter was incredible and explained really good about the different wines. One of the things he did was dry to sweeter and then started back with white. A purpose for that and it made sense after he explained why. We tried all of the wines. I thought they were all superb. The reds were great, but I only chose one red wine and a white. The reds were pricey like most wines in the area. Big Ass Red was my favorite. The couple trying wine, the young lady was from Uniontown, PA in which were are from the area as well but live near Pittsburgh, PA. The winery expert behind the bar is from McKeesport along with his wife. Small world. I'd recommend going here. It's nice a quiet place to have some wine. read more

Bogati is a winery that uses a very different business model. While most wineries set up shop in a farm, Bogati has a tasting room right off the highway, next to an art store and Mom's Apple Pie (which I TOTALLY recommend as well). But don't be fooled; this family is deeply involved in all aspects of the wine making process, from growing grapes to making the final product. According to my absolutely amazing server Sherry, in addition to Bogati (serving their Argentinian style wines), the family also owns nearby Veremar winery (Italian styles) and James Charles winery (French styles). All utilize the same 30-plus acre vineyard at Veremar, so I'd say that meets the criteria for being mostly 'estate'. All of them also make around 2,500 cases/year. While the tasting room lacks vine-clad views, it does have a nice porch behind the tasting room overlooking the pond. It's certainly easier to visit here than trekking down a dirt road like most places I've been to lately. What I tried: 2015 Seyval Blanc: Neutral Oak, tart, Granny Smith finish. B Thin: Pinot Gris: A low-calorie, summer sipping wine. So light I barely noticed anything on my palate, but the low sugar content is why it's called "B Thin". Viognier: Light apricot notes. "Tango" white blend (Riesling, Vidal Blanc, and Viognier): The sweetest of the bunch, but in reality calling it off-dry would be generous. NV Collection I (Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab Sav): Nice red berry nose, earthy finish. NV Fat Ass red (Merlot, Malbec, Cab Franc, Cab Sav): Softer than the Collection I; maybe it had less Cab Franc? Gets the name from the bold finish. 2015 Merlot: Plumb notes; not bad. 2015 Malbec: Ohhhh baby! Strong nose, medium to full bodied. I rarely see Virginia Malbecs, and those I do see are usually lighter bodied wines from Charlottesville. I was afraid this would be too soft, but I was pleasantly surprised by how full it was. Directly off the highway if your going to fast you'll miss it. The road is definitely Corvette friendly. There is a restaurant right next door (not affiliated with the winery). Dogs are allowed outside. There is a pond connected to the property. Decent amount of outside seating. Now to the wines or should I say wine. They are not doing flights. So I asked the young lady what would she recommend for a full bodied red. She highly recommended FAT ASS red. It was good, smooth with a little pepper on the end (Malbec, Cab Sav, Cab Franc and Merlot) not a lot of tannic structure but was good. There pizza was also very good. Def. worth a visit... Here I am at another wine tasting venue. The atmosphere here is pleasant and more urban than the Veramar location which by the way is owned by the same family. Here it's Argentinian based from the Italian based location earlier. The wine choices here are a bit stronger than I am used to. Bear in mind I am so green at this kind of thing these reviews may seem (childish or) more novice to the wine educated folk. Kiss my barrels people I am just a dude!! Jessica allowed my humor and facial expressions to dictate my inexperience with the wines served. The 'Fat Ass Red' is a personal creation by a family member here. It had a strong aroma with a flavorful taste. It was so good I wanted more, but feared the inevitable strip tease search I may have to perform in front of the local po-po here. So my wife & I stopped by on the way home for a glass of wine at Bogati. I want to preface this as I NEVER post a poor review until today. We were greeted by the staff where we ordered two glasses of wine and a pizza. The atmosphere was filled with music & people enjoying themselves, but this doesn't explain what happened next. At the 35 minute my wife had enough & decided to ask where our pizza went to, the staff acted flustered & disappeared to the back & would not take no to exchange it for a cheese tray. Ten more minutes pass, I get up & ask the gentlemen who waited on me to refund my pizza order, where he did oblige, acting as if there was nothing wrong. Now the point that pisses me off is where he never apologized to me! I'm never doing business there again as the obviously don't need my patronage... read more

I have been here twice now and am definitely in like with the place. Both times (once during the week, once on a weekend) we have come here after visiting their sister vineyard (Veramar Vineyard) up the road. Both times have been about an hour before closing, so I haven't ever seen the place very full. The staff has been extremely friendly on both occasions and have told us the story behind the decor, which makes me feel more connected to the winery than I would have otherwise. They do not grow grapes on the premises, which doesn't bother me at all, but I do agree with another Yelper that that makes this feel more like a wine bar than a vineyard. The furnishings are upscale, but comfy; so the interior feels like a posh lounge. I like it! As for their wines, I think the Albarino and Malbec are both very good. This winery also has more available for purchase than just cheese and bread, which is a nice change; and although I was disappointed to hear the empanadas are no longer available (they were heavenly!), the pizza we split was very good. I highly recommend doing a pairing with food or chocolate, just be aware if you get a $5 tasting coupon from Veramar this does not count towards the pairing tastings. read more

I came here with some friends Saturday night for their stand up comedy event which was $20 for a glass of wine plus the show. The NV Collection (Cab blend) they offered was quite good, but the Tango (Viognier blend) was also very refreshing and light with a hint of pear. The show was pretty good, minus some of the drunken bridal shower hecklers (the first comedian, Matty got irritated with them as well as two of the girls kept interrupting the show) and the last comedian, Ben Washburn was really LOL funny at times. I have come here in the summer and sitting on the deck below, sipping wine and noshing on small plates of cheese, meat, and fruit is very nice under the umbrellas. read more

One of the more unusual options in Loudoun county, which must have nearly 50 wineries by now....Bogati is a small tasting room with an indoor area, and patio out back, directly off route 7. And I mean DIRECTLY. The sign is smallish - look for the general store and art gallery on the right side of the highway going west on route 7 (past Round Hill). They have their own wines here - not just options from the sister wineries Veramar and James Charles. And all are fine, with an emphasis on South American style (mainly Argentina). So yes, that means Malbec. This is not the typical Loudoun county (crowded, noisy, little kids) experience, which was fine with us. A low key acoustic performer too, playing the usual assortment of covers of James Taylor, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, and even America songs. There is highway noise from route 7 but if you sit on the patio (or deck - watch out for bees though) in the back, the noise is shielded. The pond next to the property looks nice in all seasons, probably most in winter, under snow. A great option for those tired of the usual suspects around Leesburg/Purcellville. read more

All I can say is I'm glad I didn't come here with a Groupon. OK, I can say more. Bogati Bodega had a weird feel to me, since it's in a warehouse-looking building with other retail outlets, set smack-dab on Route 7 directly fronting the highway. I wasn't sure we were in the right place. I can think of other wineries that lie directly along major routes (Gray Ghost, Quattro Goombas, Prince Michel) that put up better fronts. And I do like a vineyard with a view -- or at least a more pastoral setting. But when all was said and done, we had quite a nice tasting at Bogati Bodega. And this spot does have one of the prettier, more sophisticated tasting rooms I've seen (except for the photo mural of Buenos Aires; there have *got* to be much prettier places in that city than a street corner full of neon-lit warehouses.) Our taster was Jolene, and she told us she'd only just begun giving tastings at Bogati. She was a bit shaky, but we could tell she was working hard and wanted to make sure we got all the pertinent info about the wines we were tasting that day (thanks, Jolene!). For $7 we sampled three whites, three reds, and Bogati's own signature sangria. For my money, Bogati excels at the reds, tho just about all the wines were pleasant. A 2010 Seyval Blanc kicked off the tasting and had a nice, minerally evolution. I really liked the '09 Viognier. Every Virginia winery seems to have their version. Bogati's had a beautiful straw-gold color and dry, citrusy finish. Supposedly if you age this one awhile it develops a mellower, toastier flavor. Husband and I definitely don't have the patience...or will-power...for aging wines. The NV Tango Blu -- a Riesling, Vidal Blanc, Viognier blend -- was herbal and acidic. Reds started with a really nice '11 Cabernet Franc followed by my favorite wine in the tasting, the 2011 Malbec. This wine had a gorgeous claret coloring and a warm, berry nose. Husband and I bought a bottle for, ahem, aging. The last red was a 2009 Collection I Cabernet Fran/Merlot blend. We finished off the tasting with Bogati's white sangria, their Viognier blended with ginger ale, orange juice, and citrus fruit. While tasting we noticed that Bogati offers a tapas menu as well as a tapas/wine pairing, small plate dinners, and hosts tango evenings in homages to their Argentinian roots. With wines this decent, I'd definitely be tempted back to experience one of these events. read more

They host other events that are worth attending, beyond their tasting. Again, their wine is DIVINE. Purchase a tasting, bottle or by the glass. Lots to choose from! My husband and I did the tapas & wine pairing. $25 per person would have been worth it, but we had a deal for $25 for two... making it extra worth it. We received two huge glasses of wine, and two large portions of tapas plates and a side of bread. We hung out drinking and eating and chatting for 2 hours. The interior is beautiful, and the service is good, and the wines are decent, but it's a very odd location. Sherry Sherry Sherry!!! We went to Otium hearing amazing things about it. The grounds were beautiful but the wine and service were, umm how do I say this nicely, crappy. But Bogati was a 180 degree different. Sherry was our bartender. She was interactive, fun, educational and took care of us that we bought a few bottles of wine. We are coming back here. Only complaint is that you can't add tip to the bill and you need to leave it in cash. Thanks Sherry for making it such a fun experience for us. read more

Great food, good wine. BUT when 4 wines are public, and 7 are members only, something is BROKEN.

We were in the area trying different wineries and a nice place to eat and were planning on capping the day off with a trip to the comedy night at the Bogati Bodega. (something we pre-arranged, as we visit wineries nearly every weekend) There were 4 of us (2 couples) who bought our tickets separately and we noted in the online purchase process that we wanted to sit together, this was further confirmed by an email we received from the staff advising they would have us sitting together. We showed up to the venue at 6PM, as the tickets and notice for the show advised it was at 6:30PM. Upon checking in they gave the 4 of us our tickets and we learned we were sitting at 2 different tables. This was odd and we mentioned that we were supposed to be together. The young lady working checked with someone and came back and allowed us to sit together. Since the show package came with a glass of wine, we checked their wine offerings. They advised they weren't doing tastings at that time, we just needed to pick one (odd for a "vineyard") because they didn't "have time" for tastings with all the people coming in. The wines we picked were ok, but nothing special. Upon sitting down, we took out a few snacks we brought in, which we typically bring to wineries to enjoy light snacks with a bottle. One of the staff quickly came over and advised that no outside food was permitted. We advised that person that this was not stated anywhere on their website and if it is, it must be hidden somewhere in small print. We always check this on winery websites first as some, a very few don't allow patrons to bring their own snacks. As a result of this we didn't buy the bottles we were going to buy, nor did we buy any of their over-priced pizza. We then sat and waited and waited and waited... At 8PM was when they started the show. Again, we were advised this was at 6:30, not 8. We re-checked our confirmation email and the tickets and nothing suggested the 8PM start time. Had we known about such a late start time, we would've spent more time at the other, friendlier wineries before coming here. The first comedian that came out to get the crowd in the mood was horrible... really not funny at all. The headliner was awesome! Very funny and a great comedian! It's interesting to note that they get their wine from Veramar Vineyard which is several miles away. This is more of a tasting room. Maybe the experience is better at Veramar, but it's not that good here and we won't be back. It's also interesting that another reviewer on Trip Advisor noted some problems they had while attending a mystery dinner experience here... seems we shared similar mismanagement. Loudon really isn't a bad area for vineyards and we'll be back, but an experience like this (typical of hi-traffic Northern VA area) is why we stick to the Fauquier and Central VA (C-Ville, etc) vineyards. read more

Summary: Come here for a break from driving on Rt. 7 Wine (2/5): Tasting covers about 6 different wines. None of which will really stand out to you if you've had VA wine before. The Sangria was excellent, but that's not why you came is it? Environment (3/5): A fine standing bar for tasting. There lots of comfortable chairs to sit and, if you time it right, there might be live music. View (1/5): Rt.7 in front of you and an ugly swamp out the back. It's prettier when you don't look outside. My wife and I have the goal of touring all the vineyards in the state with the 2015 VA Wine Pass. Each place we go we're looking for an interesting wine-tasting environment, a beautiful view and most importantly delicious wine. I promised my sister in law when she came back in town we would go winery hopping! Well we didn't get to hop because she absolutely enjoyed her time here! We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and the bartender asked us were we interested in a tasting! Of course we were! With the tasting we got to try few different wines and they were all pretty good! While we tried each wine, the bartender gave us the history of the winery along with the history and background of each wine. during the tasting I got a little hungry and decided to order two flat breads. One of the flat breads was vegetarian friendly which was great for my sister in law, while the other was perfect for me -- a BBQ chicken flat bread! I really enjoyed my BBQ flatbread and it tasted authentic! We also got an order of fresh baked bread, which was soooooo good! We couldn't stop eating it! Normally wineries don't have the best food options but this one did! We enjoyed our location, enjoyed our wine, enjoyed our food, enjoyed our bartender and most of all each other! So, the owners got back to me on the closing time thing which was considerate and professional. I was a little harsh. Not sure why the closing time is emphasized so often but again I think maybe a " last call" idea would work. There might be a concern that it would sound too much like a saloon but at least it's a familiar term of reference and would build in a buffer between that and actual closing if that's the issue. I'm also intrigued to try the wines that you can only get as a member. Would be nice if maybe they were "introduced" on a periodic and limited basis to non-members to create more enticement to become one. But we like Bogati and will certainly come back. Experienced MUCH better in the local area. I agree with a prior reviewer, the location is weird. Very sterile-looking inside. We had a group reservation, 9 women on a special occasion limo tour. They weren't ready for us when we arrived as scheduled. Knowledgeable and friendly staff? The girl working behind the counter couldn't be bothered to tell us about the wines she was hurriedly pouring, rather she was more interested in talking to her friends off to my left about how busy, exhausting and annoying her day had been with "all these groups". Was also annoyed when we asked to switch out glasses due to some nasty tasting residue. I was then given a hot glass and the place was practically empty. Great. The other girl working behind the counter seemed equally rushed and overwhelmed at managing two smaller groups of one couple each. Caught them rolling their eyes at each other a couple times after looking at members of our group. On to the wine, I've had better in every varietal. Finished with a white wine sangria which was just disgusting. Orange juice, white wine with something else - after a malbec with no palate cleanser. The other three wineries we went to that day all treated our group with respect (lack thereof at Bogati), were eager to see us and two even had us off in private areas.
