The best apple cider ever! The cider is not pasteurized and that's the big difference. Verellen picks the apples off the tree and bottles by knowing the variety. I think other orchards gather the apples off the ground and rely on pasteurization to kill off any impurities. Their peach and apple turnovers are the best. Not cheap but the best quality. read more

I went to Verellen's and had a good experience. Jocelyn and another girl Katie were super helpful especially it being my first time there. The donuts were delicious and can't wait to try the frozen pies I got. Occasionally I will have a need to drive down old Van Dyke and visit Washington Township or Romeo. When I drive on old Van Dyke I always drive right by the quaint Verellen Orchards store...not today, I stopped and boy am I glad I did. Pull over at Verellen Orchards and you will feel the stress leave as you enter the relaxing, nostalgic inside of the store. You will find fresh produce, coffee, pies, home-made jam's, pickles and so much more. There is plenty of parking available outside as well as some tables to relax at as you enjoy your donut and watch the world race by. There are larger cider mills along this road, but Verellen has the best grocery store and bakery. The store offers apples, eggs, pumpkins, and other small varieties of vegetables. Verellen also makes pies, muffins, donuts, preserves, jelly, mustard, and fruit butter. I always stop by for the homemade muffins, a cute one-quart jug of Verellen Orchard apple cider, and Michigan made cherry and apple bread from Knickerbocker Baking Company and Russo's Bakery. When the weather gets warmer, Verellen offers u-pick cherries and strawberries. I'm counting down the days until Spring so I can pick fruit and flowers in northern Macomb County. Verellen is worth a regular visit even after apple harvest season ends. The grocery store is open year-round and the service is friendly. read more

Love their donuts and apple cider! Well worth the drive. They have a variety of fresh produce and baked goodies.

I was so fortunate to have discovered this road side orchard/produce stand while on my way to a job site. The thing that really caught my attention were the large pies they bake daily. I have so far tried 5 different pies, and I truly believe they are the best pies I've ever had in my life. Strawberry rhubarb is my favorite flavor traditionally, but their "Fruits of the Forest" is exceptional and cannot be missed if this will be your only visit. They are not cheap by any means, but they are worth every penny. They also carry fresh fruits and vegetables as well as locally made organic preserves, spreads, and sauces. Even though this place is very much out of the way for me, I will most certainly be back during apple orchard season. read more

If I had reviewed Verellen when I first started coming here a few years ago it would have merited a solid 4 stars. I love a no frills orchard like Verellen that focuses on great cider and produce, as well as delicious baked goods and their own brand of canned goods. The cider here is a tasty blend at a very reasonable price. The cinnamon sugar doughnuts are light and oh so fresh. I am looking forward to trying the pumpkin butter and summer salsa I bought. So why the 2 stars? Because the $12 bag of apples I bought were all mealy and ended up in the trash. So disappointing and not something I would ever expect when buying direct from an orchard. Lesson learned- next time I will sample an apple before we head out. Hopefully this is just an isolated incident and we definitely plan to return next season based on our prior experience. But until that time 2 stars are all I can give. read more

Shhh... do NOT tell anyone about this place! It's my own secret cider mill directly off of the Macomb Orchard Trail. Last week I had a hot doughnut straight from the kitchen. It melted in my mouth. As a frequent visitor of cider mills off bike trails, I can attest to Verellen's high quality and very lost cost point compared to its competitors. Verellen's also has a solid fall produce selection including a nice squash collection, huge heads of cabbage and of course, bags of apples. There are no goats or wagon rides. Only great food and drinks. This is my new go-to cider mill! read more

Their cider is the best! There are many varieties of apples to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. The service is great, even when they are busy the wait is not long.
