Is there any way to give a company negative stars? I was with verizon for 30 years (yes, really, I had a phone mounted in my car in 1989). I would get all these offers from other companies, but Verizon would come close to the offer, so I would stay with them. I went into the Verizon store and, they said they were sorry, but they could not match Sprints offer. so I switched. I notified Verizon in September that I had switched services. I should have had a credit for the part of September that I had already paid for. Then I was charged the entire fee in October (I had autopay, so they took it out of my checking account), so I called them. They said I would get a refund. Then I receive another bill for November for another $80. When I called they said I owed them another cycle and Zavier (Verizon representative) listed about 10 different fees that I owed. I cannot believe this! How can they bill me for stopping service? I haven't had services with them for over 6 weeks, but fees keep racking up? In essence, they say I owe $164 for fees/charges AFTER I canceled services. I was no longer on contract and owned my phone. This is insane. Now I wish I had left them years ago.... Be careful! How does a cellphone store get the reputation of the hottest Ladies Night stop in town? Wine, cheese, crackers, chocolate and deals! Four years in a row now- we have to hit the Verizon store between Vinology and the rest of downtown. $10 off accessories! That's a great deal! Lots of staff with welcoming, fun attitudes were happy to greet ladies and offer refreshments. Chat with the Samsung rep, get a flashy ring and maybe a new set of headphones. They always have a bowl of dog treats and water at the door for your pup. Even a small seating area if you want to take a load off. I really like the people in this store. The worst customer service experience I've ever had. Dishonest employees that are only focused on commission and not helping at all. They mislead me on my options and cost me $400. When I realized I had a second option they refused a refund saying it was impossible and "not their problem." I called Verizon as soon as I left and they refunded my money no problem. I would rather cancel my phone than return to this store or speak to those employees again. read more

I went to this Verizon location today to quickly purchase a new phone as I'd dropped mine in water the night before. I was on a tight time frame and was a bit annoyed that I walked into the store to find only one store clerk around to assist people (and she was already busy helping someone). After about 45 minutes of helping out that customer she finally got around to me. Was no fault of her own for being slow, though, as the main problem causing the delay was that the customer she was helping couldn't remember their account pin. Anyways, the clerk finally did get around to me and was amazingly fast at getting me through the checkout/setup process. She actually also helped that same customer from before and had to take multiple phone calls while assisting me, but really made me the priority which was nice especially since I'd waited so long already. She knew I was running late for work to begin with and was very sensitive to this, which I appreciated. The clerk, Kylee I believe, was really professional with me (despite probably some visible impatience from me at the beginning) and I left the store within about 15 mins of her helping me with a new phone and a smile on my face. She even was kind enough to give me a slight discount due to my long wait to be seen. My biggest piece of advice to this location is that you should have 2+ people working each shift. I know you wouldn't think Verizon to be a hopping place at 9am (when I went in), it would have made my experience that much better if I'd been helped immediately by a second clerk. read more

I was lied to repeatedly by this verizon store. First they told my they would mail my daughter her phone and forgot to mail it until I called a week later. They they said it was mailed on Saturday and it was Monday. Then they said they would include a free case - no case. Then they said they would mail both me and my daughter a check for $40. No checks. I go out of my way to get downtown just to use this location as opposed to the outskirt Verizon offices in town. Why? Simple! The customer service remains leagues above the others. There's a cool A2 vibe here, with knowledgable people in charge. On an earlier visit, I needed a battery for an older flip phone from the dumb-phone line. Other Verizon locations told me they did not make batteries for this model and that I would have to upgrade. Guess what? Pure baloney. The Main Street people pulled out a box of batteries, installed it, then checked the phone out. No pressure to upgrade. Best of all...no charge for the battery. The other locations begrudgingly offered to order a battery for thirty bucks. Huh? Just today I returned with some technical questions about using the phone in Asia. No problem. They updated my account so as to be able to phone from China, and instructed me on how to put the phone in airplane mode so as not to incur the $1.99 min charge for incoming as well as outgoing calls. To boot, they recommended not using the phone for Internet abroad and showed me how to suppress that part of the phone since that charge is ridiculous---their words. I was given practical advice on how to purchase a SIM card in China where the data usages would cost way less. All in all, the two reps were friendly and helpful. I did read the other one star reviews yet those experiences did not befall me. I even sent a friend there after she had a bad time at the Washtenaw store. She's a Main Street convert now. read more

Wow, just shocking. Like others, I have been lied to repeatedly at this store. My husband and I went in during one of their promotional events, drank some wine, had some chocolate. The owner (Colleen?) asks us if we want to hear about a free tablet they have on offer. Being not unreasonable people, we ask about The Hitch. We ask about any sorts of charges associated with this product and assert clearly that we would not take this product unless we were guaranteed that it was free. She insists that the tablet is free (you pay $100 for the tablet and then get $100 rebate in the mail). She assures us that if we go to the settings and turn off the data, we would never be charged anything. The wine is flowing, and she is telling us that she worked for Verizon national and hated all the slimey ways they duped people into signing onto products, and that now that she has her own franchise, she can do things differently, like giving away free tablets. So we do it. We walked out of there thinking this was the most amazing customer service experience we had ever had. We go home, turn off the data, and subsequently never use the thing again. The tracking was terrible and we found it pretty much useless, so we never do use it. Anyway, a few weeks later, we got the rebate in the mail. So far so good. It's a wash. Not a great tablet, but at least we're not paying for it. Then we start getting the $10 monthly charge. Turns out that there was a monthly fee and that we had been locked into a 2 year contract! The tablet has literally never been turned on since we turned off the data, and yet we are being charged for this! We discover that it costs $135 to get out of the contract. So we go back to the store, talk to Colleen, and she tells us that she will formally register a complaint with Verizon to get us out of our contract for free. She says that we should hear back in 5 business days. 5 business days come and go and we haven't heard back. So we are in the neighborhood, we pop in, Colleen isn't there, but we speak to some dude with glasses. He checks the online system to see about the status of our complaint... and what do you know? It hasn't been registered. Could it be that Colleen doesn't know how to register a complaint in said system?? I doubt it. Much more likely, she just never registered it. So the guy with the glasses tells us Colleen is coming in at 5:30 and she will call us back that day. She never does. That was a couple weeks ago. We have tried to remedy the situation over the phone with Verizon and they have helpfully offered some rebates, but we still feel pretty screwed. The guy on the hotline said some franchises resort to pretty shitty tactics to get that commission. Looks like Colleen was an excellent student of the "slimey ways"of her first employer. This is NOT a regular Verizon store-- it's a separate company, independent from Verizon. I went in to have a problem fixed, with no success. They tinkered around with my phone and account, but my phone was still not functioning correctly. They said it would fix itself within a few hours. As you may guess, the problem did not miraculously fix itself. I had to spend hours on the phone with technical support, driving to other stores, and finally giving up and getting a replacement. Perhaps poor technical in-store help is their way of getting customers to give up and buy a new phone. It was also strange that when one employee was helping me, another would start talking to us from across the room. Then, the employee that was helping me started multi-tasking on cleaning the store, and they frequently misheard me. TIP to the management: train your employees to pay attention to the customer in front of them--not one that's across the room with another employee, and not some cleaning task. Tip to customers: get help from a real Verizon store or website instead. read more

we have had only excellent experience with this store and their personnel. we used to go to the Jackson ave store and the staff was cold and we always heard what we couldn't do. Daniel and Colleen have been more than friendly and have always gone out of their way to accommodate us. they remember us by our first names and we always feel welcome in their store. their service and product delivery has been right on target. they will take the time to give you good advice and match you with a device that will serve your needs as opposed to pushing you out the door quickly. we have also called in to the store to ask questions and all their staff have served us just as well over the phone. I wouldn't go anywhere else. we are very happy they are here. read more

First of all, you should know that this is not a VERIZON CORPORATE store according to the Verizon Corporate company and the tech support I called 1-800-922-0204. Wireless Zone sold extended warranty and gave us the run around to call Verizon tech support to replace my cell. In fact the extended protection they sold was from Protect Cell or Fortegra (this is the information I received from Verizon Corporate tech support and not this store). Despite several calls to this store, the customer service was poor and didn't get any resolution. The so called manager, Anthony told me that he would call me to provide a resolution and still waiting for that call..... Next time, don't waste your time, it is worth going an extra mile and visit CORPORATE store Only!!!! Please go to a Verizon Corporate store and they can provide end to end support unlike this one. read more

I'm giving the staff in the store 5 stars, not the company. I research the heck out of my purchases and have dropped into the store on many occasions to ask questions about the phones and to see how the phones handle in real life as opposed to just seeing them on the internet. As the staff were always patient and well informed, when it was time for me to get an upgrade in 2011 I went to them. I was extremely happy with the service I received. When I was eligible for another upgrade this year convenience made me visit two other stores. In those stores I felt like the sales staff was pushing certain phones, they were smarmy and their knowledge was overall lacking. I was in the final stages of signing up for the upgrade (because I knew which phone I wanted) when the sales staff told me there was a significant additional fee. I did not appreciate the lack of transparency. When I communicated this to the staff member he became combative. I ended up leaving the store without the upgrade. I went to Colleen at the store on Main St. to see what service I would receive there. I immediately noticed a sign stating that all upgrades are subject to the fee and that it is a Verizon policy... Colleen was super helpful, as always, and I ended up getting the upgrade there and then. Having been so impressed with the service at the Main St. store, I recommended that my girlfriend go there for her upgrade this week. Again, the staff was super helpful. They even helped reduce the price of her family plan by $40 a month, which offset the Verizon upgrade fee. Verizon themselves. Bleugh. This store. 5 stars. read more

I made the mistake of going into this location on 12-27-2012. I was eligible for an upgrade. I had a Droid X that I absolutely loved. I never really keep up with cell phone technology and assumed improvements over a two year period were significant. This is true, except not with all the phones, especially the ones the sales personnel are promoting and trying to get rid of. I could have got a Samsung Galaxy 3, (it was never mentioned) , but was hoodwinked into a Samsung Stellar. Mind you, price was not as issue. I bought some assessor and exited the store. The reception on the phone is great and it is much faster than my prior phone. I'm a full-time investigator (I'm embarrassed to admit this) and carry professional camera equipment with. But on occasion, I don't have it and in the past always relied on my cell phone. During the last weeks in March during the evening a used the camera and the video. Worthless. I was aware the phone did not have a flash but assumed technology had fixed the problem. Was I ever wrong. I told the sales rep at the time of my purchase what I did for a living and had given him a business card. About two weeks ago I called the store over and over again. You'll find when you call this place most of the time you will have to leave a recording. I finally spoke to the manager. She was busy at the time and asked if she could call me back. Ten minutes turned into two hours and I called her back. No big deal. She told me when I was in the area to stop in, blah, blah, blah. I did so a week later. I was told she would be in at 4:00 p.m.. This was on a Saturday, and that she would call me. Two hours later I went in the store and she was waiting on a customer. We spoke and she claimed an email was sent to someone I'm assuming was a supervisor of some sort. He eventually replied and claimed it had been too long to do anything for me, blah, blah, blah. I was told DB Debbie, the owner, would call me on the following Monday. Of course, no call. I called the store late in the afternoon on Tuesday and was told by the manager that she was surprised Debbie had not called back yet, but that was, after all, on her own schedule. LOL. It's also interesting to that not at anytime did the store employees not agree with me. All assumed, as did I, that I simply was not given an adequate explanation of what the functions were of various phones at the time. It didn't make any sense to any of them why I was not offered the Samsung Galaxy 3 when price was an issue. To make a long story short, once you sign on to an upgrade and accepted a phone you're screwed with Verizon. A privately owned store will stick in to you just like the corporation. These idiots actually thought I was going to pay full retail for another phone. If it was up to the store or the corporation I would be stuck with this crappy Samsung Stellar for another 21 months. That isn't happening. What I should have done is more research on cell phones. I relied on the sales rep which was a big mistake. I give him credit, he stuck to an old P.I. He got rid of an outdated phone in his inventory and knew from Verizon policy that once I signed the dotted line and accepted the phone nothing was getting exchanged. Here's what I wish I would have done; Bought the phone and accessories and cell phone from Walmart. Done more research regarding Internet ratings. The Google reviews make this location like the best in the area. Check other reviews regarding the stores the same lady owns at West Ave in Jackson, MI. in the strip mall across from Walmart in Pittsfield Township and at 2570 Jackson Road in Scio Township and a Carpenter Rd location. The staff in this store are always great and patient with low-tech people like myself. I needed to transfer info from an android to an iPhone and I had been struggling to try to do it myself. Brandon took pity on me and fixed me up right away and spent time explaining some features on my phone that I didn't realize. They are extremely helpful, kind, and take their time to make sure I am getting what I want and that I am verse in the functionality of the phone. Beware!!! Clerk added a screen protector to a phone...had put it on before I even knew what had happened. When I asked if it came with the phone, she said no, "it comes with the package I bundle in" or something to that effect. The "bundle" included a $35 dollar screen protector I had NOT asked for. Yikes! This is not good business policy. I felt my trust had been violated. The purchase of the phone had been an otherwise good experience until this happened. The clerk then scrambled to offer my daughter a student discount, in an attempt to offset the cost of the screen protector. Nice to know that this store offers such, but it should have been something offered right off the bat, instead of as a means to make amends. Lastly, the clerk was texting away on her phone while waiting for ours to reset. Rude. Not classy. Overall, an upsetting time during what should have been a FUN experience...getting a new phone! read more
