I originally went to the Verizon store in Avon, CT because my watch wasn't syncing with my phone. Ryan took the time to help troubleshoot the issue and also let me know about some great promotions that were available. I ended up leaving with a new phone and a new watch--and it worked out perfectly because my daughter is now happily using my old watch! A few weeks later, when my bill arrived, it was quite a bit higher than I expected. I'll admit, I was worried that some of the promotions I had been promised hadn't been applied correctly. I called Ryan, and just as he said he would, he walked me through the bill line by line, explained everything clearly, and even adjusted the promotion to make sure the pricing matched what he had originally quoted. In a time when upselling and empty promises can make customers skeptical, Ryan did exactly what he said he would do. That level of honesty, follow-through, and customer service is rare and truly appreciated. I've been back to this Verizon location twice since returning to Verizon, and every experience has been positive. The entire team has been great, but Ryan definitely set a high bar. We did give the store another chance. Once Verizon corporate actually addressed our concerns and gave us the phones at our expected discount, we HAD TO RETURN TO THE AVON COMPANY STORE. We went back hoping for a better experience and we were disappointed again. The same employee who treated us poorly was there on the floor and didn't try to fix what happened previously that day. He just said to his coworker, "there's those people who were here earlier, I bet they got their phones online, followed by some other mumbled things" as he ignored us and another helpful employee greeted us from the back of the store. She treated us with respect and addressed our questions. We left feeling good about our interaction with her, but disappointed again by the employee on the floor. read more

We upgraded our phones recently and separately I had an iPad issue caused by apple's software update but first we had to ensure it wasn't a SIM card issue by going into the store. For all related visits to the Avon store we had exceptional service from their team. We then brought my mom in to make changes to her account and they were incredibly helpful then too. My only wish is that the visits wouldn't take so long. I'm not sure why they did but it seems when we go we are there a really long time even though we get help right away without a wait. read more

I went in to ask a simple question regarding my new phone purchased from verizon at the west farms mall and the staff were standing around, gave no greeting and could barely gather the energy to talk to me: apathetic and pathetic! We traded in our 2 old phones for new phones. On Aug 7 we dropped off the old phones. Only one phone was returned to the Verizon warehouse. We have been to the Verizon store multiple times and the remaining phone has yet to be sent to the warehouse. Now Verizon has cancelled the credit related to the trade in phone that is still at the store. After multiple communications with Verizon, we have no confidence that this issue will be appropriately resolved. read more

This review is for the Avon store. I purchased a phone case from Verizon when I purchased my phone. The case now falls off the phone. I went to the store for help and was told that they no longer handle this case and that I would have to go directly to the manufacturer. The agent was rude and did not even ask to see the case. Experience was horrible. I was offered a promo for an iPhone, and by the time I checked out on line, the contract was switched to a higher price, and within minutes. Speaking or chatting w customer service, several reps and one who claimed was a supervisor was a complete waste of time. They transfer you between customer service and sales, but nobody can help you. They will try to sell you, and BS you, but they know nothing and have no authority. They're just there to put in their hours. We've been customers for 15 years. Wow. What a scam! read more

I would like to start this by saying that I work in a school. Customer service is key, whether you are dealing with an employee, student, parent or community member. To me, I do not give a damn that people can go and get 50 different jobs because some people have become addicted to sitting their butt on the couch. You work and you help. Today, I walked into the Verizon store in Avon and I was not greeted when I entered. One employee was being helped, the other, a gentleman with glasses, did not look up but it was evident that I was in the store. Actually, it was the third time that I have been in this store in 6 months, and this is standard operating procedure. An employee coming off of break helped me, I explained that I wanted a new phone and it was obvious that I was looking at a couple of models. I asked some questions, they were answered. The sticking point was that I need help transferring info onto my new phone. Long story short, he told me that they could not do it, because they "might get busy." Hmm, one new customer came in...three reps...ok. I stated that I could sit out of the way, downloading info and if I needed help, I could wait. So, there is a customer-willing to pay money, probably can be upsold into a 800-900 dollar phone, get a case...not bad for having a blob in a corner. I explained that I needed the phone this weekend, mine was pretty cracked up. He offered me to go to Best Buy. Hmm...ok...I asked about Apple...etc. then thanked him. I stayed in the store for another 10 minutes, meanwhile I hear another rep who is working with another customer tell her that she can pick up what she needs at another store...you don't send items between stores? Offer much? Meanwhile, I was looking at cases and the iPad caught me eye. No other customer came in while I was looking at several different items, which if I was the sales person and if commission is involved, my ass is assisting the customer. Went out to my car for 10 minutes, no new customers. I went back in with the three amigos sitting on their butts (no customers) and asked if they had an appointment open for today- nope- booked I asked how about in August-they don't do weekends...yup I can see why - damn crowded. I left angry and called customer service(very nice lady) who set an appointment up for next Saturday- no problem in Farmington. At no time was I offered this. If someone had said, "hey let me check our sister store for you..."awesome. I entered another business, sales person greeted me, help me find a product, then suggested something else. I told an employee about my experience and she whispered "oh yes, they aren't too nice." Brilliant. Bloody Brilliant. That is pretty high on the suck meter if people who work in your geographical area know that you are not "nice." I am not a Karen, seriously, I want to be treated as I treat others. I thank God that these people do not work for me, I would not know where to start. read more

Sorry, but it's a saga. Wife's new phone was dropped and screen cracked. When she bought the phone they said insurance was included and covered any damage to the phone. They then sold her a "case" to protect the phone. Well, it dropped 2 1/2 feet and screen cracked. Went into Verizon and they said to call insurance carrier and someone would come to replace screen. Carrier said insurance only covered inside damage not outside screen and they weren't responsible for what Verizon said. Then, said they had no one within 50 miles where we could take the phone so we'd have to mail it to them (7 day turnaround maybe) and it was over $100 for the repair plus $29 mailing charge. So, Verizon misrepresented the insurance. Verizon mispresented how repairs would be made. Verizon misrepresented the "case" they sold. On top of that it took 45 minutes on the phone with Verizon for them to say we should have read the policy (what policy?) and "they", customer service, don't know what was said or represented at the store so we just have to deal with the insurance company. I purchased a smart phone from my brother less than a month ago at this Verizon store in Avon. My brother has a brain-injury and sometimes needs instructions repeated. His disability is not visible. When we purchased the phone the sales person went over the basics but it was a lot for a new smart phone user to take in all at once. He told us we could come back with questions. My brother returned to ask for help in learning how to text a photo and VERIZON WOULD NOT HELP A DISABLED PATRON LEARN TO USE A PRODUCT THEY SOLD HIM. My brother is kind and gentle and follows the instructions he receives so he left the Avon Verizon store without getting the assistance he needed. Had I been there with him, this would have been a very different experience for all of us and quickly escalated to the management level. How dare you treat any customer this way. Verizon, you should be ashamed of yourselves and embarrassed by your Avon associates. This is not a difficult thing to show someone and would have taken you two minutes to help. You weren't busy at the time. You're willing to sell a product to a disabled person, but your not willing to assist them in learning how to use it. For a person with a brain injury, telling them to go online to Google it when they come into your store to ask for assistance with a product you sold them is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Do your employees work on commission so they will not help customers if they will not personally benefit? Or, are they just rude and uncaring? Do not visit or support the Avon Verizon store. If you have any sort of disability consider another phone carrier who might provide you with more kind and supportive assistance. It doesn't cost you anything to be kind, compassionate or considerate Verizon, but it does cost you business when you are not. Since you only care about the bottom line and I'm not going to get the customer support I need, I might as follow your example of placing money over service and switch to a cheaper provider. read more

Again I have an issue with Verizon Wireless. I'm 10 days (as of 2/6/14) away from my 2yr contract end date and have been having issues with my Droid Maxx..."chrome not responding," phone calls connect but I can't hear the other person, have to reboot, to name a few. Went into store, was greeted warmly by 2 young women at front counter and explained the issues(s) I was having and thought I could upgrade now since I was 10 days out...NO. "We can put you on Verizon Edge plan but we can't do anything else." Seriously?! Again no other options were offered. How about a refurbished phone? This is how I received the current phone since I was having problems with my LG. Verizon needs to do a better job of training. Reps are too rigid. "We only have to honor the warranty." That's what I got the last time I had an issue with my phone. It took a contact from the District Manager and the Store Manager to resolve the issue...they contacted me shortly after my last review, were very apologetic, and offered solutions. We were helped by a gentleman named Mike who was extremely patient and helpful in helping our whole family get new phones. He answered all of our questions, calmly explained everything we were paying for and why, and though we ended up being in the store for quite a long time transferring data and making the decision about which phones we wanted, he stayed with us the entire time and was extremely helpful and kind. I went into this Verizon store on Sunday for a new phone. Teddy helped me get a new Samsung Galaxy S5. Teddy didn't disappoint. Great service. Tried to get a little help from them yesterday for my present cell phone and had planned to ask about their contracts and new phones for my family since we are new in the area. They couldn't help me, despite it being a simple task which I could have probably done myself with a paperclip if I'd had one. Whilst appreciate some stores are sticklers for policy and would rather turn away new custom than use a little common sense I absolutely do not appreciate a patronizing tone and bad attitude from one member of staff in the store. I then drove up to a competitors store five minutes away, they popped open my phone then I signed for three iPhone 4s with 24 month contracts, no problems and certainly no attitude. read more

I went to the store to add a line and looks like there was a promotion that you get iPhone 12 free when adding new line, the store rep said why iPhone 12 if you can get iPhone 13 for free so I said OK, then turned out it is not free, went back to the store spend serval hours there talking to them, they never acknowledged the mistake the did and they offered to give iphone 11 instead and then they suggested to change my phone # which I did not accept, then I asked them to call Verizon office and after long waiting time and several hours in store and on the phone, they suggested to give me iPhone 12. This should have been avoided if I was give iPhone in the beginning, worst of all the manager never acknowledged the mistake and he expected me to solve the issue by accepting iPhone 11 where the promotion at the time I added the line was iPhone 12. There were other issues never going back to this store and may soon look for another company to go with and dump Verizon. read more

We are new to Apple products, and after we bought our iPad mini had a great number of questions about what kind of connectivity was right for us both in the US and in Europe. To compound matters, we were trying to decide how to best meet other communication needs: whether to stay with our current landline home phone carrier and internet provider and whether to switch over to smart phones, etc. Rich M., the associate working with us, took the time to look at the full spectrum of our needs and listened to our questions; he developed an overall plan that made sense for us and gave us good guidance in how to best use our new devices. We couldn't have had better personalized service or more honest input for our particular needs. Verizon grew in our estimation because of his excellent level of service. read more

Honestly, I am not sure why I keep giving the Avon Verizon store another chance. I've gone in there about four times since they've been open in Avon. I've been a Verizon customer for 12 years. I go in there wait 10 minutes for someone to help me, then the person stands at the desk doesn't even look at me and asked what they can do to help me. I told him I wanted to upgrade my phone and he went on my account and told me that the closest phone for upgrade is about seven months away. I began to tell him know that's not true there's one two months away etc. by the tone of his voice and what he was telling me, it was quite obvious that he had no interest in helping me, getting me a new phone, or spending any more time with me as a customer. So I simply looked at him and said I can get better service by calling Verizon up why don't I just do that? And he said OK have a good day. read more

I needed to replace a lost phone so decided to give the Avon/Route 44 store a shot at it since I am a Verizon customer. I am very happy that I did. Tyler and I discussed the situation and he was so very helpful, polite, and knowledgeable in helping me decide what I should do. I would give my experience today a 0 rating if that was an option (not even a 1)! After looking at current iPhone upgrade options, I decided which phone I wanted, the sales person looked up our account and came back with the pricing. He explained that he was not showing me the pricing on what I asked for, but rather for the "buy one phone, get a second phone" deal with a new line - which he previously tried to sell to me and I specifically told him I did not want! His calculations showed that our bill would only increase by $28 per month, but when I showed him the amount of our current actual bill, the increase was actually $46 per month - which would mean we would pay over $1,100 over the next 2 years rather than $600 for the phone I actually wanted! Watch out for their calculations - they are not right! And if they tell you that you'll get a second phone free, you are really paying for it over 24 months! Horrible service - ripped up the paperwork and walked out. Will never use this Verizon store again and will instead work directly with Apple. read more

Verizon coverage in Avon is AWFUL!!! I recently moved into a new house that supposedly had coverage (according to Verizon maps). Not true. Their maps are misleading, teetering on the brink of false advertising. I called to complain. Their solution? I could BUY a network range extender to use my Internet connection to get my phones working on Verizon. That would give me 5 bars, but at a cost of about $200. I refuse to pay more to get the service that I already pay for. So now I am stuck with about 6 months of a useless phone contract. Thanks a lot, Verizon. The only reason their phones have good coverage in the store is because the tower is in the parking lot. Unless you live within walking distance of the store, forget about it. Meanwhile, AT&T is putting up a tower at St. Matthew's church. GAME OVER for Verizon. read more

My review may be slightly skewed by the less than thrilling experience I had at another shop with the Verizon logo out front, but was actually Something-Something Wireless. I didn't even catch the store's name, but that's neither here nor there. After being regurgitated information I had already found for myself on the internet at Something-Something Wireless, I went to the nearest "real" Verizon store on my way home, which was Store #341331. I walked in and there were a couple customers seated at the service desk, and no one else on the floor so a sales rep made eye contact, can I help you, etc, etc. I was about 95% certain going in that my phone was toast. It was stuck on the Droid "eye" on the loading screen, and had been for two days despite soft and hard resets. So maybe it worked out that I was proactive and just held up my phone before he could launch into sales mode and said "it's been doing this for the past two days, what can we do?" Mr. Salesguy (I'm awful with names) went through the same motions, soft reset, plug it in, did you drop it? No? Ok. I'll see what I can do. He took it to the back room briefly, assuming for a second opinion since he seemed kind of new, and when he came back took my account info to see what options I had. I was eligible for an upgrade, but I didn't want to change my plan just yet so after that suggestion, he didn't push, which I appreciated. I have the device insurance on my plan so that was the next step. Got that taken care of, and while he was at it, pointed out a few cases they had on clearance ($5!) and asked if I needed any screen protectors. He's in sales, I don't fault him for that. So, no on the screen protectors but where are these $5 cases you have? I ended up buying one, but someone else ended up ringing it up so I doubt he even got the commission or whatever. Bottom line, these people are in sales, they're going to try and get you to buy something before you leave, but in my experience they didn't push or pressure when I declined, which is all I can ask for. Salesperson was shockingly unprofessional, rude, and unpleasant. She was bored talking about our business, and derailed the conversation for at least 10 minutes talking about her personal life. The worst was when we told her we weren't interested in overpriced verizon accessories. I almost screamed at her. She literally ignored what I was saying (aside from a mean looking glare) and continued on her pitch. I told her "look, I know you have to make your pitch and all, but we really are not interested." She STILL ignored me. Later on when purchasing she made the pitch AGAIN for the damn accessories and addons that we told her we DIDN'T WANT. Then her buddy salesman threw an unsettling bone in. "You're getting the iPhone 5 and your not buying a case immediately? pshh oh man" I could list more unpleasant aspects about our trip to the store, but it's not worth it. What should have been a 20 minute upgrade ended up being a full 60 minutes mostly filled with sales pitches and excessive conversation. With employees like this, this store does not deserve your business. read more

I'd like to echo the sentiments below about customer service. The gentleman who "helped" me could not have been more rude, terse, condescending, or generally annoyed at my presence in the store. My simple questions were met with matter-of-fact responses, as if I should "already know" my average phone data usage on a month-to-month basis, or how stupid it is to ask about the benefits of an iPhone 8 over an iPhone 6. I mean, software issues, DUH. How could I be so dumb?! And don't get me started on the rage that boiled within him when I asked if I could buy the 50 dollar phone case on Amazon for less. Guess what? I could...and I did. It's a shame that he got commission off my phone purchase, because he certainly didn't deserve it. read more

I have been a Verizon customer for over 20 years. I am a bit of a techno idiot and I have always found the staff at this store to be very helpful. they are helpful and patient. Sometimes, when it's crowded, you may have to wait. welcome to reality. But when it's my turn, I always get their full attention for as long as I need to take. and I know everything will be perfect when I leave. I have run in there with silly little questions, and they are ALWAYS helpful and friendly. service doesn't get any better than this. read more

While this store and company may be helpful if you are spending money or signing a contract, I walked in with a phone problem on my existing contract and they couldn't have been less helpful. My smartphone hasn't been working right for months and I have lived with it because of how dreadful verizon customer service usually is, but it got to the point where I could not use my phone at all so I reluctantly went in to the store with my complaint. Of course the phone worked fine at the store so the employee told me he couldn't do anything unless he saw the problem even though the phone is under warranty. I was forced to leave the store with my phone that will probably stop working an hour later right when I need it. All of this the reward for paying verizon $85 a month for the past year and with one year to go. read more

I was on the phone for over an hour with Verizon, they contacted the store and got a BS story. Long story short, they belived me and I finally had the monies refunded.
