ZERO STARS. Been with Verizon for 15+ years. Went to upgrade phone. Should've been simple. The employee told us he had a great deal! We trusted him... can't trust anyone at Verizon. Was scammed into adding our landline as a new line (saying it would be free) WAS NOT. Charged double after two months. Went back to see if this was a mistake. First employee said it must be a mistake. "Manager" named Brett usurped our appointment and accosted us- saying we signed up for this plan. When we asked who would sign up for this? He said "I don't know, you did." Brett was extremely rude, condescending, and unkempt. Smelled bad. Maybe high? Would not recommend this store to anyone. Or VERIZON. Go to AT&T! Also spent hours on the phone with untrained employee whose only remedy to our situation was to cancel our phone lines completely?! Or buy back our phone at triple the retail cost. I thought when I was switching from Spectrum Mobile at the beginning of the month that I was going to get better service. Not so. Verizon's "welcome" plan is the same crappy service Spectrum offers by reselling Verizon service. If you want better connectivity you will have to pay even more for a higher level of service, no matter what the salesperson says. Yesterday's rep on the phone did some testing and found the places I travel are "congested" on the Verizon system. So, instead of building out/upgrading their system to accommodate their customer base they have you buy a higher level of service (quite the scam). The rep agreed that there are other areas of the country that are not "congested" and people don't have to pay more for decent service, where the lower priced Welcome plan could work. In addition, it took almost a week for Verizon to provision my phone on their system so I could use my phone app and others. They don't mind staying on the phone with you for hours to see if they can fix it, though you have to be lucky to find someone who knows what they are doing. Expect to spend hours on the phone. I am still hoping that this upgraded plan will give me better service, especially when I travel outside of the Hudson Valley (last week in Boston I had trouble using data on the Welcome plan). read more

I went in with my wife and infant to upgrade my wife's phone. At first the sales reps were friendly but then it turned into one condescending sales pitch after another. I kept saying we wanted to close out and the head sales guy kept going into the back for twenty minutes and getting different products to try to shove down my throat. When we'd had enough I told them I just want to close out because our baby is on a schedule and they disappeared for another twenty minutes in the back of the store. I thought they were activating the phone but when we got home we learned they hadn't even done that. It's a shame there is no zero star rating for this place. I have been a customer of Verizon since the company began. During that time I have purchased telephones in at least a dozen different Verizon stores. In my experience the Kingston NY store is by far the worse Verizon store I've used in my long association with Verizon. I recently purchased 2 new iPhones 8 and LOTS of gadgets but in spite of trying to help me explain the features of my new phone the sales person tried to push more gadgets and an expensive insurance I didn't need . The only time it works is when it's on Wi-Fi network chip does not work I went to Verizon to trade it in for a new one and within 30 days there should be no questions asked to take the phone and give me a new one! Abandon all hope ye who enter here. The Verizon network works well in the Hudson Valley, but the staff in the company owned store are incompetent. Routine sales take forever to complete and even then I'd recommend checking your receipt very carefully as they are likely to tack on extra charges which don't apply to your situation. The attitude of the staff has also declined markedly in recent years... What was once one of the better customer service operations has now been outclassed by the DMV. Go to an Apple Store or one of the locally owned independent authorized Verizon resellers if you have any desire for a decent experience. read more

My girlfriend, who is a care provider in a hospital fighting the pandemic, went to return a phone charger because after very little and appropriate use, one of the prongs that plugs into the wall came off when unplugging. We have never experienced this type of malfunction before with any other chargers from anywhere else. The sales person at Verizon looked at the piece of plastic and surmised that there was physical damage. This deemed the warranty insufficient in covering our problem. The man tried handing the charger back to us and left his hand holding it the air for three minutes as we spoke! My girlfriend and I were shocked especially when discussing the matter with the employee who had no mind in helping alleviate our frustrations and actually had the nerve in offering wise-crack tips to my girlfriend on how to speak professionally to her co-workers IN THE HOSPITAL. The one positive is that eventually I left with the phone and plan that I wanted. Otherwise it was a truly poor experience. I waited for well over an hour to talk to someone and then spent almost as long setting up a single line for a business account. I had expected it to take a while, but this was awful. Not that I've ever had good experiences at Verizon but you'd think they would at least have staff who know how to accomplish what you are asking them to do. I went in with my iPhone not working due to a software issue and they ran test "turned it off and back on" and said it was no good and I needed to upgrade "700$ for same phone" I decided before that to go to bestbuy. Walked into bestbuy and over to there cellphone department and they fixed my phone and had me out there with everything backed up in 15minutes and smiled the whole time. This Verizon store has gone on and beyond what I expect from phone service providers based on dealing with phone companies for over 40 years. Their patience and expertise helped solve major problems caused by my misguided effort to save a few dollars by switching to the evil Sprint store nearby (lasted one week with one bar). Switching back has been a nightmare. James is the best! He's been there helping every step of the way trying to get my business phone number unlocked from the Sprint system. I went to this Verizon store to upgrade my phone (s) and had a terrible experience. It was a very long wait time to actually talk to someone and then when I did the sales guy was pushy and pressuring me to get things I wasn't interested in. He talked me into getting the HUM device because he said they were running a special (against my better judgment) which he said would cost me nothing. He said it would not cost me a dime. I have been charged every month since then, and when I realized this I went back to the store and they said they couldn't do anything and that it would cost me $175 to break the contract. They were patronizing and rude. Totally unacceptable. Feeling really low about Verizon right now and i have been a long time customer. read more

My son and I had yet another poor experience here. We were signed in and I was treated rudely by that person. I remained because my son need a phone but after we spent hundreds of dollars, we left there with no activation and were told we needed to set the phones up ourselves. Being unable to do so we went to the New Paltz location and received stellar customer support. If I could have gone back to Kingston and returned everything and start over I would have! I visited this store last night at 8:20pm (store closes at 9pm) for the purpose of buying a new phone. We came into the entrance and a friendly woman took our names in order to put us in the queue for Sales. She wouldn't answer any questions whatsoever because "she was not Sales". After a 5-10 minute wait, we got a Salesperson. This woman was the worst salesperson I have ever dealt with. She didn't tell us about any of the features or pricing of the phones. She swapped out the SD card in the existing phone and put the wrong one back in. She was playing with her iPad the entire time she was talking to us. I was so annoyed that I bought a phone online while we were there. I will never give this Verizon store in Kingston, NY my business. read more

Some months after buying two cel phones at this store, she bought a network extender to hopefully up our reception. It was DEFECTIVE. We got hit for a RESTOCKING FEE ! After hours of setup of this Samsung SCS-2U01 ( at different sites in the house ), activation ( unit was not activated at store as it was supposed to have been ) and diagnosis ( 2 long calls to Verizon tech service ) the unit was found to be DEFECTIVE. The Samsung online manual stated explicily "contact customer service and have unit replaced." I waited an hour in the store to hear the manager refuse to fully refund the puchase price. claiming a $35 restocking fee for a DEFECTIVE unit. Or I could accept a replacement unit. Now why would anyone take a chance on getting another DEFECTIVE unit ( someone will possibly get ours ) only to go thru the hassle of activation, setup, diagnosis, waiting at the store etc and when it maybe does not work to be told 'too bad, reception in this area is poor because of the mountains." read more

I see this place has become worse since when I was in here last to purchase a new phone (where I talked about it, that is). I was just in here about a week ago, and although I came in to discuss a brand new purchase without clearing a former online order first, when I came in, it took a few moments to "check in" with the employee at the entrance. THen after a few minutes of sitting and waiting for other employees to become not busy, another employee came out to assist. He explained what the Verizon way is with dealing with bad orders over the net, and immediately helped put me in contact with those on their in-store phone to contact support. And although the employee on the phone said that I had contacted him before, I know I didn't - at least not him (but that's a totally different story) - then the employee walked away when I was put on hold to wait for the next available agent. It took a few minutes, but someone did come on, but it took several more minutes to have the order completely cancelled so I could place an instore order (don't know why I even bothered trying the online method to begin with.) I think the employee should have stayed nearby to help me through the rest of the purchase - he knew my overall attempt was to order a new one but after contacting someone to cancel the old one and him walking away (where I didn't even see him) - I'm still left wondering - (sorry to quote "Full House") "How rude!" After getting confirmation that it was cancelled, I had to wait around a little more. I sat and waited...and waited...and waited some more. Finally, another rather young woman employee who was coming through another pair of doors looked at me like "why are you waiting here? You being helped?" But that's when I explained why I was there, and although she wanted to help and get me to redecide and go with another phone, I was adamant and didn't let her make me change my mind. I knew I wanted an iPhone 7 (the newest one at the time of purchase), after several attempts of coming in and out asking me other questions about my pre-existing phone (which she thought she could do a trade-in on, but for safekeeping to ensure nothing awkward would happen otherwise I ensured she couldn't)...but it got worse. She tried to get me to purchase more sh** in promotional items that would have sent my days' bill sky-high; she knew I'd freak out - she already knew she'd be expecting it - but I was able to convince her that "I don't need these extras - just get me what I asked and we'll pay accordingly (as is to be expected)." I don't know of one person whould've said "yeah, get me x or y or z" when they ask about promotional products", but this was just outstanding that I internally laughed. However, she went back in and grabbed the phone and completed the rest of the order. You could tell she was angry that she didn't get an extra sale, but when you pester your customer - expect it. I like Verizon for it's network - it's great with few places where there's little to no service nearby - but not when the employee had pestered me to try and get me to purchase more stuff I didn't need. read more

Do not patronize this store. After waiting over an hour to be helped, we had already decided to purchase the iPhone x and iPhone 8. We were then "assigned" to a salesman named Patrick, who refused to answer our questions about the new phones, and refused to transfer our information from our old phones. He then told us that we were getting a great deal because we were getting $270.00 in accessories for free. We tried to tell him that we did not need these things, but he insisted that they were free. We ignorantly assumed that the $575.00 we were being charged was a down payment on the new phones. He then gave us "instructions" on how to transfer our own information at home, telling us it would take just a short time. We discovered a few days later that our receipt had been stapled to the back of all of the instructions. That is when we realized that we had been charged $270.00 for the accessories we did not need, and charged $30.00 each for an "upgrade" that he omitted to tell us about. He was one of the most dishonest and deceitful salesmen I had ever encountered at that store. Until, of course, I met the manager Mark when I returned most of the accessory items. Mark was not only rude, but undeservedly arrogant. Buyer beware! Lying Patrick never mentioned we were getting "bundle" prices on the accessories, because according him, these were "free." However, Mark, the manager of the month, informed us that we had to pay more for the two accessories we were keeping, and our refund would include the "real" prices, since these were no longer bundled. I made a formal complaint with the main office of Verizon Wireless, who assured me that these practices were certainly dishonest, and they would be addressed. I would have to say that the 5 filtered one-star reviews are far more accurate than the 5-star reviews shown. Tonight's experience at this particular Verizon was very frustrating. I walked into the store around 7:30 PM, wishing to upgrade my awful phone, which has not been working properly for months. I was met at the front by an indifferent customer service representative, who said the wait would be "a while" because there were people ahead of me, but I would be called "shortly". At 8:00 PM, after waiting about 30 minutes and watching the customers who were being "helped" not budge (the lone sales rep who was there was chatting up his customer and having a grand old time, by the way), I asked the woman who met me at the door how much longer the wait would be, mentioning that it was getting late and I had a 45 minute drive home. She said that it would be a "while, like 20 minutes" because the people being helped had "tech issues". I asked if there was anyone else there who could help me, and she said no, but I could "make an appointment". I mentioned that I would take my business to another store, and she just shrugged her shoulders and made a face. I was dreading coming here to upgrade my phone given a past experience with poor customer service, but my phone barely works and my schedule is packed for the next few weeks, and I actually had time to take care of this tonight. Unfortunately, that time was used up by waiting for someone to "help" me upgrade my phone. read more

Verizon is a huge corporation, therefore you would think that they would be experts in helping customers quickly. That is not so at this store. On numerous occasions have I waited more than an hour for assistance, including times where there were less than 5 people ahead of me. The employees are certainly wonderful people and are willing to help you and discuss any questions you pose to them, which makes it almost feel worth while. Unfortunately, they also enjoy merely chatting with a customer on unrelated topics, which can increase the wait time upwards of 15 minutes. All in all, the only positive to the store is workers. The waiting area is remarkably uncomfortable and the wait is ridiculous to which the response is to schedule an appointment. If someone can figure out how to, please let me know, I have tried many times. read more

This place is awful. I bought a brand new iPhone that stopped working 2 days after I bought it. They were rude and basically told me I had to go to an Apple Store and deal with it. The sales representative Patrick is horrendous. He wouldn't stop trying to add on all these additional items. When I asked him to stop and told him all I was interested in was the phone he became hostile and told me I was rude and he had to do his job. Wow. My visit was horrible. They tried to upsell me into something I don't need that would have cost me another $960 a year. I had documented a quote from VerizonWireless.com by taking screen shots of the chat where the rep quoted me a price for upgrading our 4 phones and changing plans. I went to the VerizonWireless store at 1200 Ulster Avenue figuring that it'd be easier and quicker to upgrade and get a new phone at a brick-and-mortar store. But the salesperson "N" quoted me a line service fee 2x the cost I was told via chat. I told him I had a chat quote from VerizonWireless .com and he said, "Who are you going to trust, a chat person or someone in front of you?" Things then went south quickly. While I went to get my printouts of the chat screen shots, he went to get his manager who was equally unhelpful. Manager insisted my chat conversation probably referred to a different deal. I showed him the quote with the items it covered spelled-out in detail. Manager insisted chat-person was wrong and he couldn't change his right price. I asked if he could contact them (I thought this is reasonable as I have written proof of chat commitment and he is in a VerizonWireless store and chat was with VerizonWireless.com.) He said they don't deal with each other. ???????? I said "Thank You" and walked out. I went home and called 800-922-0204 (VerizonWireless support) and spent 90 minutes with a helpful & knowledgeable person and ended up with the phone I wanted at the original, lesser quote I first got. In the end I realized there may have been confusion at the store about upgrading with a "2-year contract" commitment versus buying a phone with the purchase price spread out over 2-years; but shouldn't they - the "experts" - have figured I was referring to a different "2-year" if I'm showing them the details of the quote? I think they were trying to upsell me into a costlier service I don't need, a service that would have cost me another $80 per month ($960 per year!!!). I'm already spending too much money for the small amount of service I use, I'm not going to hand over another $960 just because they acted like I didn't know what my choices were. That's disgraceful. If you need a charger, go there. If you need guidance or sales, run away and call 800-922-0204. read more

I have a lot of experience with Verizon -- I have 2 very complicated non-cellular accounts and one rather complicated cellular account. After speaking with Verizon Cellular on the phone, I decided to open yet another account for wireless internet (I live in a remote area and can't get DSL or cable). I called the Verizon store in Kingston and spoke to "Joe" who said that they have the equipment I need in stock. Very excited to finally have high-speed in the mountains, I told him I would be in the next morning to get it. He said that he would see me then. I drove for 1 1/2 hours to get there, to discover that there is no "Joe" nor do they have the equipment in stock, nor have they had the equipment in stock for some time. So who is Joe and who does he think he is that he can waste 3 hours of my time (plus gas) for nothing? All the personnel had to say was "Would you like us to order it for you?" Why they could possibly think that after wasting my time and money that I would even consider having them do anything for me is beyond me.. I have never, ever written a review, but this was so totally unacceptable, I feel I must (even though I'm doing this on dial-up!). When I got home, I called Verizon and they will FedEx the equipment to me -- I'll receive on Friday, just two days after my escapade to Kingston. read more

I had a great experience at the Verizon store in Kingston, NY. I was having some issues with my new Droid. Quite frankly it's more than I need, and I've been tripping over myself with all the functionality. I called the 800 number and spent 40 minutes with a customer service rep who seemed very knowledgeable, but couldn't fix one single problem. I went to the Verizon store. Samantha met me at the door, so I didn't have to wait. She fixed every single issue within 5 minutes, and taught me how to use some of the functions I found confusing. Samantha is a great teacher, because she makes you "punch the buttons". This way you remember how you did it once before, instead of trying to figure out what you watched someone else do a week ago. She also signed me up for a free class, so I'll learn how to really get the most out of my new phone. She was a joy to work with. I'm sorry to see that some other people didn't have such a great experience. ASK for Samantha next time! read more
