Worst customer service I've ever received. I came in with money to spend. I left fuming mad with nothing but a headache. I was incredulous that I saw no fewer than five other customers abandon their missions. Verizon has a problem with this site. Shut it down or start over. Awful, awful, awful. Be warned: If you enter this store for any reason you will spend 2-3 hours "in the cue" while the staff plays on their iPads. Hoping another carrier has better coverage soon. Major props to Aaron and Sandra. I had tons of questions and a lot of needs (I was purchasing an iPad, iPhone and switching over from AT&T. They answered all my questions with extraordinary patience, and they helped me switch over to Verizon with ease. They also ensured I got all of the discounts for which I was eligible. (Did you know government employees, teachers, any many others get a 15% on all accessories and some plans?) I could not be happier with the customer service or the quality of Verizon over AT&T. I was helped by Houman Sabourian who was very personable and super easy to talk to. He was quick and efficient at completing the transaction and was able to answer all the questions I had. He's very knowledgeable and analytical. I have to say that I was very impressed with his sincerity and thoroughness. Not only did I upgrade my phone but I was also able to get a substantial decrease of my monthly bill. So my many thanks to Houman and a great person as well as providing a pressure free upgrade. He save me from AT&T hell several years ago and I have now started going to this store because of him. He is very knowledgeable, personable and efficient, not to mention he saved me a ton of money. I went to the verizon store on lakeshore Oakland Ca Feb upon opening. I was furious with the FC Verizon, a corporate store, who too advantage a week earlier and I will review them next. Getting back to lakeshore I was happy the MGR, so skillfully calmed me down , because I was irate that I couldn't get the packing fee waived on a device I was returning because it was draining my data and was not worth the money and only used 2 days. I was ready to cancel my new service after having been a customer of sprint for almost 16 years, and with this company a week . The MGR excepted the jet pack and waived the packing charge of $35 and credited my account. The MGR did as he should. I just started with Verizon less than a week and purchased the most expensive phone , the iphone 5s, the most expensive mophie juice pack and some other expensive accessory. I never get a straight answer to my questions--or, for that matter, at best a confusing one from the employees at this location. Today I wanted to know how to get to the plus sign on my phone; the answer: I cannot tell you that, we are not taught this. Second question: when traveling overseas, do I switch voice/data roaming on or off? (the written instructions I received via email did not spell this out). The answer I received: turn it ON. Since the instructions on my phone suggested to turn it OFF, I called the Verizon customer support number for clarification and got this answer: turn it OFF if there is WIFI; turn it ON if no WIFI around. They also told me how to get to the plus sign: hold your finger on the zero. Amazing that a store employee could not tell me that. read more

Stephen at the Lakeshore store is absolutely kind, informed, respectful and really focused on what a customer would want and NOT on what he "should be" selling people! I've been a resister to an I phone conversion but finally made the leap (hooray!) after Stephen promised to help me along the way! He made it "safe" for me to be techy clueless, and important that I feel comfortable with whatever device I chose for my upgrade! And, when I had trouble at home with something simple, he made it a point to return my call, and then verify with his colleagues re: a question I had, and then again followed thru on his promise to follow up! I have had a few interactions at this location in the past where I have felt like I was being oversold things/plans, but overall it's been a positive store to visit, receive tech support and service access! The worst Verizon service I've ever received. My phone's screen went black on Sunday before a Monday holiday. So that means that even with overnight shipping on the replacement, I will be sans phone for at LEAST five days. According to national CS, they should have offered me a credit for days I'm without phone, and they also should have given me the option of a basic loaner phone. Nothing. Nada. And they were rude. Worst service. I cannot as low a score as I would like to. I was in today 5/30/13 at 3:15pm. I waited at least 10 minutes. There were maybe seven people in the store (three in one group being helped, two in another being helped, one lady standing behind me, and me.) The girl at the counter asks if I have been helped and when I reply no, she asks if I have been put on the list (WTF?) What list I ask. No, no one asked me if I needed help or asked me if I wanted to get on the list. I just stood 5 feet from three of the clerks for ten minutes. Maybe the best experience with a commercial operation ever. My phone partially froze up so I took it in. They tested it for while--it wasn't fixable--so they decided to provide me with a replacement. They were very nice and competent--everybody, not just the staff addressing my problem. Having to get a new phone is a pain, but they made it as pleasant as possible. read more

OK, so, in general I hate Verizon as a company. However I stay with them because I get a discount through work. I swear I have never been in a Verizon Store and had the transaction take less than an hour. Today was no exception. I entered the store at 11am and it was empty. Things started off well but, of course went awry at checkout when the computer system slowed down and it took 40 minutes to check out. The staff were inept, not their fault but, poorly trained. This place is always super busy so prepare to wait for up to an hour. There is free 2 hour parking at the Trader Joe's lot next door, which is quite large. I have found most of the employees here to be very smart and very friendly. Michelle in particular is exceptional. There is a Peet's coffee next door and lots of eateries on this street. One of the frustrating aspects of this business for me is that they have never picked up the phone when I have called them. The layout of the store is fine but they took 2 weeks to replace their iPhone 6 floor model which had been stolen (which was the model I ended up buying). I walked to the AT&T store across the street to test out their iPhone floor model. I'd say this business is fine overall. read more

This place prides itself on lack of customer service beware and stay clear. It is worth a 20 minute drive to get to another Verizon store. This place is weak from the Manager down, Chris Faile lives up to name and gives a poor direction sales associate will answer the phone to help others while trying to help you at the same time. There were 6 customers outside waiting for the store to open 5 minutes late. The manager has that buy or leave approach on sales. I had to buy some phone accessories and was very impressed by the customer service I received from Nikki, the store manager. She is very helpful and absolutely gorgeous. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the customer service. Here's the thing folks, the customer reps are not to blame for corporate policies and rules. They are however are at the direct-line of angry customers, like myself, in essence they are human shields to the greedy corporationlr who decided to eliminate unlimited data pricing. I walked in to verizon with a game plan. The Goal: keep my unlimited data and #2 not-pay full price for a cellphone. By the way, I had to replace my cell after throwing it in the wash in heavy load cycle. After explaining my situation and stating my goals to the first rep and my plans on meeting these goals. I was left to my own device. Basically, I came up with a creative way to stick it to the man. Along came Sandra S. She was super patient and knowledgeable. Helped me with my master plan and actually made it even better. Target goals were met...new iphone 5 w/o paying the full price 2) kept unlimited data AND received a nice discount off of my purchases and monthly bill because I work for an organization that is eligible for a discount. I would have never known if not for Sandra. I truly felt that she looked out for this valuable customer's interest. I returned the following day to pick up a SIM card unfortunately Sandra was on her break. Enter Stephen, just as helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me set up my iphone. Me and my husband was just in this store 5 mins ago and just had a the worst possible service a loyal customer could get. We were asking for any possibility of both our names or numbers reflecting on the bill. We were told by customer service over the phone to go to a Verizon store and it is possible and was told NO by the store lady who seems to be the one in charge. There was no attempt to look into options and was told to login to myVerizon and figure out ourselves or go call customer service again. This is the best service I have received in eight years of dealing with cell phone stores and service. Victoria Emegokwve seemed to know everything we needed to know in selecting the right phone and level of service. I was in Oakland on personal business and phoned a few stores to find out about an upgrade to a smart phone. This store gave the most informed responses. I live almost 30 miles away and get to Oakland only occasionally, but I will schedule a trip when I replace my next phone. Five stars! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Verizon today! I was greeted immediately when I walked in by the store manager, and within 5 minutes I was talking to Mike, who was incredibly helpful, to the point where he actually helped me put together the package for my mail-in rebates. He clearly explained all of the options for what was (at least in my mind) a pretty complicated process. When I left, I felt satisfied that I had chosen the easiest, most cost-effective plan. He then reset my phone and handed me over to another woman to finish solving the problem. I have always had poor at best experiences dealing with Verizon. Especially lately. I am a 10+ year Verizon customer and came dangerously close to moving my contract to another carrier. I finally decided to renew and went in for a new phone. I worked with Christina, the manager of the store. She didn't try to upsell or BS me. She helped me switch to a different plan that is now saving me $30/month. She was polite and courteous and knowledgable and cut through the typical red-tape that I have dealt with many times when speaking to Verizon representatives. Verizon should have more Christinas. This review has nothing to do with Verizon as a carrier- overall I have been happy with my Verizon service. However, in the future, I will go to a different verizon branch because I found the manager here to be rude and unhelpful. Despite being told that I could get a replacement for a broken item from 2 different verizon employees earlier in the week, the manager would not honor this and wouldn't take the time to show me my options. I just got the new iPhone 6 from this store & I couldn't be happier! When I came in today, Anthony (I think he is the manager) greeted me & helped me with my situation. Even though it was super busy he took the time to answer all my questions. He sat down with me to discuss my phone options even though he was losing his voice! What a trooper! Michelle helped me once I decided on the phone I wanted. She is awesome! One of the best customer service experiences I have had at any type of retail store. She calmly & clearly explained everything about my new plan. I asked her a bunch of dumb questions (I've never had an iPhone) & she answered each one of them with patience & ease. We switched to Verizon recently at this shop and had no real problems, other than the transaction (as is typical of all of these places) taking about one hour and having no place to sit while waiting. Our new phones work perfectly and the saleswoman was friendly, helpful and not too aggressive. If you can't say no to a phone accessory, you should probably stay home. Best of all, call quality (thus far) is distinctly better than our prior provider (S*****). read more

the people here are incredibly rude and don't have any knowledge of the products. I called to ask about the new Droid Razr Maxx and Droid 4 which are supposed to be released sometime soon - not only did staff have no idea what i was talking about but insisted these products were not connected to verizon and that icould not use my verizon plan with them. So, instead of trying to find out information, or kindly say that .. sorry.. i have not heard of those products but sometimes we don't know about new products, or anything like that, they basically acted like i was crazy and that these products do not exist. another store had told me that verizon can sometimes give out a loaner phone if your phone has died and you are waiting to buy a new one and when i inquired about this, they were also so incredibly rude telling me they don't do that . The managers are liars! I've been a Verizon customer for years and I went in there to adjust my account and the manager lied to me and put me in a position where I have to pay $350 next month or disconnect my line. I called and they lied to me again and said they would submit the paperwork to take care of this issue that they admitted to making a mistake on. But the bill is still the same and customer service said that the managers don't have any power like that so they blatantly lied to me. I would have never upgraded my account and now I'm in another two-year contract that I can't get out of.
