He assessed what I needed while simultaneously walking me through tripod types and brands, weaving product knowledge into a real conversation. By the time he finished, my buying decision was already made. Sales ability like Mark's, paired with genuine subject matter expertise, is exceptionally rare in retail today. Sold an "Excellent" open-box TV that was incomplete, then made the problem mine I purchased an open-box Samsung 77" S95F from Best Buy listed in Excellent condition. After getting it home, I discovered it was missing major components, including the longer One Connect cable, screws for the TV stand, and even screws associated with the rear housing of the TV. That is not what most reasonable people would consider "Excellent." This wasn't a small missing accessory. The TV was materially incomplete and not as advertised. What made the experience much worse was what happened next. This is a very large TV, well over 75 pounds, and I had already paid for Uber XL transportation to get it home. I contacted Best Buy expecting a practical solution for a problem caused by their own quality control and open-box inspection process. Instead, I was told over and over to bring it back to the store, return it online, or exchange it if inventory allowed. No real ownership, no meaningful escalation, no pickup solution, and no answer on reimbursement for the cost and burden of transporting a 77-inch TV because Best Buy failed to verify what they were selling. The most frustrating part was that their support team acknowledged that returning a TV this size was unreasonable, but still kept repeating the same canned answer. I asked for escalation, asked for management, asked for a real resolution, and ultimately got nowhere. The chat was effectively ended without the issue being solved. When a store sells an open-box item in "Excellent" condition, the customer should be able to trust that it is complete and properly checked. That didn't happen here. This was a failure in QA, a failure in listing accuracy, and a failure in customer service. I'm leaving this review because this situation should have been handled far better, and because I'd still like someone in management to step in and make this right. read more

If you have plenty of money and absolutely no information technology prowess, consider signing up for Geek Squad service. I am not being sarcastic. This is not a support service, it is a shipping service. A task you could perform at home in around 50 minutes, it will take Geek Squad more than 3 days. These service plans are only useful when they replace your device outright. After paying an annual fee for the total protection plan and over $3,500 for a laptop computer, a clerk wearing a Geek Squad Polo suggested I reload windows, or he suggested they could do it for me. There was no offer to run a diagnostic to see if I had a hardware problem, and he obviously had absolutely no technical knowledge of the product they sold me. He blamed the problem on Windows 11. That might be the problem, but there was no mention about defective operating systems when I paid $3,500 for the laptop. As is the case with most amateurs, the first course of action is the nuclear option, wiping it all out and starting from scratch. While I'm sure some absolutely technologically illiterate folks have some satisfaction knowing they can drop their computer off for weeks at a time, if you have enough knowledge to control all delete and stop a task, you already exceeded the competency of the Geek Squad. Do it yourself and save yourself the money. And under no circumstances, sign up for the total protection. You can tell that the best buy Geek Squad folks even think it's a rip off. read more

Receive an update that now it will show between August 16th-19th or if they don't ship by 29th they will just cancel the order. This company is is taking money for products they don't even have in fucking stock, charging you an extra fees for Next Day ( when they know they cannot fulfill the order ) and then except you to just relax and wait for your shit to arrive. I have been going to the Best Buy on Mandela Parkway on and off for more than a decade. The store has changed a lot over the years. Before COVID, it was an easy five-star experience: well staffed, knowledgeable, and smooth. These days it is not quite as sharp as it used to be, but it is still a solid, useful electronics store. I bought my last monitor and keyboard here and both purchases worked out well. In each case I checked online for sales first, then went in so I could see the products in person. Having a physical place to look at gear and make returns is genuinely valuable. The sales staff I dealt with were friendly and clearly wanted to help. At the same time they came across a bit underprepared on the details. I would describe them as well meaning but not especially well informed. That can feel slightly annoying when you are trying to make a bigger purchase. For that reason, I strongly recommend doing your own research before heading in. Know what you want and know the current deals. The store is great for accessories and smaller items. For a desktop computer, I would be hesitant to rely on in store guidance alone. One bright spot: I got an excellent deal on a Lenovo laptop here, and again, it was nice to see it in person and have an easy return option if something went wrong. read more

I bought a laser printer from Best Buy when my old printer died and I was told it wasn't worth repairing. The next day an independent repairman called back, came and fixed my printer for a low price. I wanted to return the Best Buy printer, but I couldn't carry it by myself and my arthritis made it very painful to stand on the extremely long customer disservice lines. So after about 25 days I arranged for somebody to help me before 30 days were up. Then I went to print out any return documents I found that Best Bury has a 15 day return policy. Best Buy wins the screw their customer award. Stuck with an extra printer new in the box. Never again will I set for in Best Buy. . Bought my next major appliances from Costco instead. read more

My TV quit working out of the blue one day, and after all my troubleshooting efforts failed, I reached out to Best Buy to see if they offer TV repair, even though the TV was well past warranty. Turns out they do. They informed me a solely diagnostic appointment would cost $125, before any parts and repairs. This seemed high to me, but after contacting another shop to price-compare and getting a comparable quote, I called Best Buy back to schedule the diagnostic appointment. I was scheduled for an in-home appointment with technician Connor for a few days later. Connor from Geek Squad (part of Best Buy) arrived as scheduled, and was friendly and professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem with the TV, which was a broken backlight, and after doing a search, informed us the replacement part from Samsung is no longer available, and that our only option is to purchase a new TV. Fair enough, not his fault that we have become a throwaway society where nothing is built to last anymore. Connor then told us that since we paid $125 for what was essentially a 5-minute appointment, he would be happy to offer additional services included in that price. He told us if we purchased a new TV from Best Buy, he would pick it up from the Best Buy store, deliver it to our home, set it up, and haul away our old TV. He left his number and told us his offer would remain open for 90 days. Awesome! But here's where it goes south.... The very next week we went to Best Buy to check out new TVs, found one we were happy with, and purchased it. We explained to the salespeople about Connor's offer to pick up, deliver, and set up the TV, and they were incredibly perplexed, as if they had never heard of such an arrangement before. To simplify things, my partner decided he would pick up the TV himself another day (on the day of the purchase we had other things going on and couldn't lug around a TV in the back of our car all day). After my partner brought our new TV home a couple of days later, I texted Connor to tell him we had the new TV, and requested to set up a time for him to install it and take away the old one, per his offer. Two days later, Connor responded with a totally nonsensical message about how he couldn't fulfill the request, because he would have had to sell us the TV himself in our home in order to set it up. And that he would have to charge to haul away our old TV as a separate service. What? Neither of these things aligned with what he had told us before. And why would the new TV have to be ordered specifically through him, and from our home? Best Buy gets the sale either way, so what's the difference? Do Geek Squad employees get a commission for this? If so, this was never mentioned before. As far as hauling away the old TV, when we checked Best Buy's website, there was conflicting information about whether there is a fee at all, and how much it is. But regardless, Connor should have honored his offer to take away the old TV at no additional charge. The whole scenario was bizarre: the false assurances from Connor, as well as the disconnect with Best Buy. Were we just promised the bonus services to entice us to buy the TV from Best Buy, and then once we did, the offer was dropped? Whatever was behind it, I'm never ok with a lack of integrity. Be honest with your customers, and follow through on your promises. These are basics. Anything less diminishes your reputability as a business. read more

Do not bother actually spending money at Best Buy. The stores are well laid out and you can go and look at items but if you want something, buy it from Amazon. I learned this the hard way. I went in a few weeks ago and picked up an item for $35 as a gift but when I showed it to the intended recipient it turned out.l they already had one, so I went to bring it back, with a receipt. They told me that the two week return window had closed so they could accept it for a store credit only, and that was pnly if I joined their loyalty program for $50 I pointed out that toward the end of the year Amazon has a three month return window so you can return things after Christmas when your recipient says "no thanks " Best Buy are a long long ways from "the customer is always right". I went because I like to see some brick and mortar stores but if they keep treating their customers like this, they'll just be bricks and mortar. read more

Best Buy is on my list of top tens stores of my 'Happy Places.' I just love the fact that all their stores are easy in and out off the main road and I am always greeted with a hello when I walk in. The layout of all the stores is pretty much the same making things easy to find when I'm on he road. The teams are also the same group of enthusiastic folks all here to make sure that you walk out with what you need. With no commissions paid here you never feel obligated to purchase from one person if you make multiple trips for an item. Our trip here today was for an IPAD. They always have an ample selection and supply of everything and this was the case here too. Since we were traveling, we purchased our products for pickup when we returned home. This worked out perfectly dealing with our home store in Westbury, Long Island. A very special shout out to Flora and Jess in Berkley, CA for all their great product support in computers, and Erick in Major Appliances for helping me select the correct Nespresso for home use. Stopped by briefly to pick up a few items and use up my birthday reward certificate. The associates I interacted with in the store were all very friendly, and the store is clean and well organized. The lines at the register were pretty long, but thankfully they had several registers open. Unfortunately, my cashier was a bit inexperienced and did not know how to process the promotional certificate from Best Buy. At first, he tried to suggest that it simply wouldn't work and there was nothing he could do. When pressed to ask for help, he solicited assistance from a nearby cashier as well as someone else who appeared to be a manager. Both of whom gave him verbal instructions and walked away before seeing the transaction processed. Leaving him still befuddled on how to process the payment. Eventually the manager lady came back and walked him through rather begrudgingly. I understand everyone is busy and trying to help other customers, but proper training would have helped both avoid this situation as well as expedite this transaction. Bought washer in store, this went fine. Delivery - awful!! They hire outside contractors and these 2 guys were very rude and did not complete the installation. I had - and it was ON THE ORDER - asked for reinstallation of gas dryer since it had to be moved out of the way to get the washer in. They moved dryer to the middle of the small laundry room and left it there! They did not let me show them the order/receipt only kept saying "we don't do dryers". Leaving it in the middle of the room meant I could not close the door to the outside! I am an 80 year old woman, I had to hire my handyman to move it so the door could be closed. Best Buy Corporate "customer service" refuses to refund the $60 (the installers also did not level the washer, it was leaning forward severely) even though I was told on the phone when I called after the unfinished installation to go ahead and hire my guy since BB wouldn't be able to send someone out for days and I needed to close the door to the outside. I am out $60 plus it was a horrid experience. I will never order from Best Buy again! read more

In my case, the electricity service had to be upgraded. He handled the entire process effortlessly. I got a great price as the appliances that I got were on sale, too. I ordered online for pickup, and got email and text notifications when my items were ready for pickup. They have moved the store pickup section elsewhere so we spent 10 mins waiting in a customer service line which used to be where you go for pickup, only to be told we were waiting in the wrong place. Then I stood waiting for another 5 mins since no one was at the store pickup section and workers who were in the back or walking by that section did not do anything. There was no bell to ring to get help either. I was finally fortunate that an employee named Seetia came over and helped me out and that took less than 2 mins, so shout out to Seetia. read more

Been here a few times, and this place always has the laziest or disinterested employees. Not to mention, the surrounding area is very sketchy. Husband and I went to get him a new phone. Of course had to flag someone down because everything is locked up. The employee sent us to the mobile desk where we met Zak, who was glued to his phone. Zak offloaded us to Dustin who look stoned, or halfway into a coma. After telling Dustin what phone we wanted, he disappeared and Zak reappeared. The item we wanted wasn't available (per usual). I asked if we could order it, and Zak coldly told me "ya". Clearly he needed the sale. We ended up settling on something else. After finally paying, Zak slides the phone, smart watch, and accessories across the table to us. We just stared at him. LOL we had to ask for a bag after spending over $1000. Moral of the story - just order your stuff from Amazon or Costco. Also, we later saw Dustin roaming the cell phone area aimlessly. read more

This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. I needed to buy a TV with a digital audio port for my dad. I chatted with a Best Buy agent to confirm whether the Samsung U8000F had the port. He assured me twice that it did, so I ordered it. When the TV arrived, the port was missing. I contacted Best Buy immediately and asked for a pickup. I was told I had to bring it to the store myself, even though the mistake wasn't mine and I don't have the space in my car. After being put on hold, the agent said they could only arrange a pickup if I ordered a replacement TV. I agreed and ordered a Sony. I was also encouraged to apply for a Best Buy credit card for a discount, and I was told the discount would apply to the Sony order. None of that was true--no discount, no pickup scheduled. Another agent told me someone would come in two hours. No one showed up. When I called again, the next agent couldn't find any record of a pickup request. I asked for a return label so I could drop it off at FedEx, and I was told online orders must be returned in-store. At that point, I gave up and returned the TV myself. When the Sony arrived, it was clearly a returned item--messy packaging and shipped from a return center. I returned that one too. Every agent gave me different information, and none of it was accurate. This is not the first time I've had issues with Best Buy. Unfortunately, I can no longer trust their service. I feel like Best Buy has upped their game. I haven't really stepped foot in an electronics store in years but a couple months ago I wanted to upgrade my laptop. My laptop has been getting slow lately so wanted to add some more RAM and when I looked online BestBuy, to my surprise, had the best prices (both eBay, Amazon and others were insanely overpriced...stupid tariffs). So I order for pickup online and within 15-20 minutes I get a notification that the order is ready. An hour later after work, I drop by and go to the pick up area and got my order. One of the easiest pickup experiences I have had with a major retailer. Since adding more RAM my laptop has been running smoothly, almost like new again lol. Then last month I needed a new Sata SSD for a new build. Same process, compared different online options and BestBuy once again had the best deals. Placed the order for pickup, and again within like 30 minutes got the "Ready" notification. I go to the store and the pickup process was quick and easy. I even took some extra time to browse the store. On both visits the staff were friendly and the store was clean and organized. I will keep coming back for more electronic supplies. read more

Went in with my partner for a new laptop since her old one went south slowly over the last 6 months. So I will preface this as I used to sell computers, I used to build custom computers, I wrote tons of custom software and I used to work for freaking Intel. Back in the day I was pretty knowledgeable on the subject, today not so much. So given that, it was great to meet up with Cameron as a salesperson and chit chat about needs and what's out there. I was very surprised at how knowledgeable he was and his attentive but non-condesending attitude. He asked my partner all the right questions and sorted out the answers. Showed us her options and left us alone, which is perfect. I hate it when sales people hang over you like a vulture waiting for you to die in the desert. Bouncing between the 14 and the 16 inch screen size all off a sudden hit on the new Lenovo 15.3 inch with added features. Nice machine I'm sure will serve her for awhile. I liked it so much I am trying to justify buying one for me even though my Dell XPS 13 is only 8 years old and going strong.  As an added bonus I pulled up my Best Buy account while there, and the one-day-sales popped up, which included an air fryer for $25. I've wanted to try one but was always too cheap to spend any sizable dollars for one. For $25 I can give it a go. We also looked at Samsung washer-dryer sets which we may do real soon. I think my partner wants the Viking stove/oven first for $21,099, yes $21,099. Suprisingly great experience overall. read more

This is about Best Buy delivery service. I understand that things happen but I can't forgive lying. First the delivery was abruptly canceled. They don't actually tell you it's canceled -- they say the appointment has not been scheduled or you need to reschedule. It said both of those things in different places. When I called to find out what was going on, I got 2 different stories: the appliance was out of stock, then later the delivery driver was out ill. They rescheduled the delivery for 3 days later. Another schedule adjustment on our part to be here for delivery. Then I pick up my phone and see another message saying "Time to reschedule your appointment." While over on the website, my account still says delivery is scheduled for today. That is, until you click on the tracking and then it says "In-home appointment isn't scheduled yet." When I called to find out why this happened again, they said the items are out of stock. After so many different stories, I asked them to see what it said about why the first delivery was canceled. Here's where the lie comes in. I was told it said "Customer canceled delivery." What??? They are just lying. I have screenshots. It wouldn't be that bad if they hadn't sent out the haul away crew before cancelling the first delivery. And that part was weird. I've never had haul-away be a separate truck from the delivery. In fact, once they took the old washer and dryer, I was waiting for them to come back in with the new ones. After a while, I looked out the window and saw no truck. What? We have had to replace several appliances this year -- all from Best Buy -- and that didn't happen the other times. I canceled the order. We recently bought a new wall mounted television from Best Buy and had Total Tech installation. The guys who Best Buy sent out came out to install it were on-time, very professional and did a very good job. We were pleased with their work. The guys at the store who helped us when we bought the tv were very knowledgeable and helpful too. The only problem is that sometimes it is hard to find someone to help. It seems like Best Buy is cutting back on the number of employees that are on the floor at one time. But once we found someone to help us, we got everything we needed. The salesman seem very knowledgeable and helpful. If I have any suggestion, it would be for Best Buy to invest more in the sales folks that are on the floor so its easy to find someone to help. I was sold a defective pc power supply. At attempting to exchange it for a working component I was informed that I would need to spend an extra $50 for the replacement. I had switch to exclusively shopping here for my computer needs in the hope that I could be supporting my local area. The people that work here are great. They have always been kind, knowledgeable, and patient with me. It is disgusting that BestBuy would put such a great team in this situation. I am cutting ties entirely with company. Between this, trying to guilt trip my husband in to credit card debt while conveniently not trying the same tactic with my pale self, having me run all over the bay for a product to not have it, and absolutely zero help from customer service with my online account I am done with Bestbuy. I have gone to this Best Buy over the years & have always liked it very much, their team on the floor has always been very helpful & informative. I particularly appreciate their recycling of old, dead electronics when one purchases a new replacement (as I did a LG TV about 15 years ago - YAAS it is still going strong except for one button on the remote I use infrequently). Recently, I went online to purchase another item because 1) pricing was reasonable (c. $200 less than a comparable item w/out charging capability on Amazon) and 2) shipping was also free - my favorite type of shipping doncha know. However, since I made the purchase as a "guest," I couldn't get to the receipt online. So, I chatted (w/a super star agent) via the BestBuy site and finally found it in an email. However, while I was searching for the receipt online, I noticed the item price has dropped considerably! Therefore, I asked the chat agent about that drop in price so quickly my purchase. She immediately went into action per to BB's price matching policy, and I received a 22%+ refund on my purchase. I have never heard of Amazon doing anything remotely like this!!! (Even worse, Amazon has given me pushback on legitimate returns over the years, which is infuriating.)
