By the end of your stay, they seem like family. The guests, who attended from all over the U.S., absolutely loved it. I googled the directions and Lyndonville was right off the highway. After reading all the reviews this seemed like the best place for the best price. Only $55 with the tax. Plus, it seemed like a family run place and the woman who took my reservation was very nice. Reception is in the house next door to the motel, it seems to be the owner's house. We arrived to find a great little motel - maybe the cleanest one I've ever stayed in. The room kind of looked like a tiny little ski lodge. They had a little binder of tons of stuff to do in the area, wireless internet, tv, mini firdge and a coffeemaker. It was great! Just what I was looking for. Within ten minutes of arriving to the motel we were off to Trout River Brewing for pizza! We left early in the morning so we didn't do anything in the area, but it seems there's lots to do, so I think we might come back. This is a great place to go away for the weekend on a budget! PS. The Yelp listing says this place is closed. But, it isn't. I stayed here in February 2010.

I'm writing this review from my bed early before a day of biking with my son at KFL. What can I say…read more- this place is great. And we found it by accident! My wife found it online the day before we came up on a busy June weekend. The quick rundown is there's a big converted barn where we stayed. The rooms are clean, rustic and charming. The barn lodge was quiet each night while it was clearly a busy weekend. There's also camping allowed on the site, but the vibe is mature and family friendly. Everyone we met was kind and polite to me and my 9 y/o son. There is a separate shared bathroom and shower facility about 30 feet from the barn. While this may not be everyone's thing, the indoor and outdoor showers are all clean, strong and felt wonderful after a day out on the trails. There is a large shared common area with a tv and nice space to read, which doubles as bike storage if you're rolling around on a $10,000 sled. There's also a shared fridge and coffee there in the am. If you're coming up to bike the KTA trails or just enjoy the beauty of the region I can't recommend the farm enough. It may be my regular place to stay for future weekend trips.

Jude and I saw a deer one morning from the breakfast room. The old red barn juxtaposed with a solar panel nearby is pure Vermont. While the farm is off the main highway a mile or two, it's an easy drive to local villages and less than an hour to Montpelier. All rooms are up a narrow center staircase with a full bath in the hall. They have a spa bath on the first floor that is pictured here in Photos. A large tiled accessible shower, jetted tub, tall windows which can be opened and ample towels and supplies. Of course, breakfast was a fresh two course meal with Vermont coffee in a room with a view of the patio and gardens.

I enjoyed it so much that I booked the entire B & B suite for a weekend to come back with the family. The suite is three bedrooms and very affordable for a weekend get-a-way. The back wing of this old farmhouse is half cozy living room/kitchen and half modernized greenhouse. Downstairs in the updated section is a wonderful bathroom with large jacuzzi tub and walk in shower with three (yes, 3) shower heads - though the switching valve only let's you run two at a time. Plus the radiant floor tiles makes me want to just lie in the sun along with Phoenix the resident friendly cat. Upstairs are three cozy bedrooms with wonderful Vermont landscape views and lot's of books for browsing. Outside there are pastures and trails, a big old barn, sheep and a llama. When we were there in the fall the llama was just wandering around the yard as it had been fighting with the ram, so Jay just let it out to get a little breathing room. So I woke up in the morning and watched the llama on patrol around the house. Jay and Jude, like so many B & B owners (a special breed) are friendly and entertaining. They are anxious to be helpful and quick to recommend good restaurants, places to hike, and other things to do. And the breakfasts, ahh, the breakfasts... You have to stay at least two nights just so that you can get more of their good food. fresh fruit cup, maple smoked bacon, maple walnut scones, asparagus soufflé, baked apples with maple syrup, blueberry muffins, light and fluffy waffles ... I went to bed each night excited to wake up and smell whatever was cooking. None of the rooms have a private bath, but renting the whole space makes that happen. No cellular phone service (well sometimes one bar) but good wifi. Close to hiking, X country skiing, and snowmobile trails. Close to Montpelier. A couple of really nice restaurants in the area: Claire's, Positive Pie, Rainbow Sweets.
