Nice, clean affordable rooms, and friendly but non-intrusive owners. Can't get better than that. We had a great stay, and will go back!

The bathroom door shut…read morevery hard due to the light/fan fixture on the ceiling being an obstruction to the height of the door. The walls are EXTREMELY thin. We could hear everything from surrounding rooms (TVS and conversations). My kids and I had difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep with the amount of traffic and particularly the couple next door to us. I ended up asking them to please quiet down at 11:30 pm. Then in the morning it sounded like an 18 wheeler was directly outside our window. It was the couple from the room next to us who I spoke with the night before. I felt I couldn't request more quiet from them, so we dealt with it.

Plenty of hanging plants along the entries to each room and a cute garden. The staff were friendly. The traffic noise on the back side of the motel was moderate especially with a fan running on low which I recommend. Didn't have any loud neighbors so can't speak for the wall thickness. The water was hot and good pressure. The tub size was small but manageable. I was impressed that their hair dryers actually have some power to it. I've had some hair dryers feel like a gentle breeze on high so this was a nice change of pace. The bed (king size) was on the firmer end but since we were so tired from biking we passed out fairly fast. There was a muffled knocking noise that kept happening through the night (we were located in 118 next to hall) and we could never figure it out. It bothered my husband but I didn't notice it until he pointed it out. For the price, I would return. Especially being able to wheel our mountain bikes right into the room made for an extra win.

She answered any questions we had and even gave suggestions on things we could do in the area. The office has coffee via a Keurig as well as a microwave for guests to use. We stayed in one of the rooms with a king bed and a balcony, which has a view of the mountains. It was nice to hang out on the balcony and relax after spending the day out. The room also has a table, a coffeemaker, TV and air conditioning. There's also a restuarant attached to the lodge downstairs(The Grateful Skier), which is convenient if you're looking for something to eat or get some drinks. They had trivia night and live music night during our stay, which we enjoyed. Definitely check The Grateful Skier out while staying here. The lodge also has an indoor pool, which I believe is open all year long. The pool area is warm(you can feel the difference in temperature as soon as you step foot in the room). The pool is big and we enjoyed our time in it(we went in the morning and it probably helped that no one else was there lol). Overall, The Kancamagus Lodge is a great inexpensive lodging option if you're staying in Lincoln, NH. The prices for what they offer is a great deal. Besides the things I already mentioned, they're also a great location as there's many things to do in close proximity, whether it's restuarants, stores or seeing the gorgeous nature of the area(The Lost River Caves, The River Gorge, etc). This is our go to place whenever we're staying in the area!!

They…read moreeven make it possible to "adopt" one of the uber soft and furry little rabbits for a "mere" $45.00. Just a tad rich for my blood, plus I couldn't buy for one grandchild and not the other, so I purchased none. But I digress. The inn is old, very old in fact, but it is well appointed, and the rooms have been upgraded as much as possible. They are very small, but very clean and tastefully decorated with bunnies and all. The bed was super comfortable with great pillows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We pretty much stayed to ourselves, but there were a number of common areas where we could've fraternized with the guests, played board games, read. The outdoor grounds were quite lovely, and in addition to a patio to sit on, there was a large grassy area to walk around, and I believe one could play croquet too... not positive about that part, though. There were no TV's in the rooms purposely, and I'm not sure there were any in the common areas either. I doubt we would've liked that if we had stayed longer than one night... but for one night, we survived. Funny and ironic how dependent we (and most people) are on being entertained by TV's. My only disappointment was, and I knew ahead of time, is that we were staying there on a night their main dining room was NOT open, so we didn't get to dine there. It probably would've been much better than where we did eat, and we would've had the convenience of being right there... but alas, it was not meant to be this time. Their pub was open, but the menu was quite minimal and not anything we were interested in. If ever we should pass through this part of Vermont in the future, I would love the opportunity to stay here again.

The staff was warm and friendly. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !
