    Don Angelo (medio)

When you walk into the store it looks very small and there's only a few bar seats, but they actually have seating downstairs. The focaccia was a little too thin so the sandwiches fell apart easily. We got the don angelo and I'll diavolo in medium. That was the perfect size if you don't want to be stuffed after. The don Angelo was my favorite, even though I like spicy food. The il diavolo was missing something green, like arugula or basil or something to balance it out. I'd go back and try their other sandwiches.

Be prepared to bring leftovers home. This was delish and great value. We went during peak lunch hour so we had to battle online orders and wait but it was well worth it. Lots of seating downstairs

I went to Vero Italian Sandwich restaurant after work for takeout. Vero sandwiches has been showing up on my for you page on TikTok. It was a cold winter day and the restaurant was empty. I ordered the Don Angelo sandwich. I came home and I ate the sandwich. I thought it was good, but not overwhelming great like on the TikTok reviews. Maybe by the time I ate the sandwich, it has become cold. Would I go back? Maybe, but I will eat the sandwich in the restaurant.

Finally made it to try this Italian sandwich spot on Queen West (Spadina). I opted to try the God-feather one in the smaller size. The bread was fresh and had a nice crunch. The flavour of the filling/topping was amazing!! Everything worked and tasted fantastic. Turkey was great, loved the cacio i pepe cream and the greens/lettuce tasted fresh. Staff is friendly. Definitely recommend to check out. There is some counter seating, but mainly a takeaway spot.

    IL Diavolo

Vero is a pretty new Italian sandwich shop on Queen. For a solid price ($18-24) you get a massive sandwich! We got the IL Diavolo and it was delicious. They make the focaccia bread in house and it shows. The bread was airy and fluffy which made it feel not too heavy, and it was so filling (definitely can share between 2 people). The store itself is bright but narrow. Not much space to wait around but they have a fairly spacious downstairs seating area. What's nice is when you order, they give you a buzzer and you can wait downstairs until your sandwich is ready. When we went there was a small line up but I have heard that it gets busy. Staff were super friendly and the sandwiches were made fairly quickly and fresh. Definitely worth the hype and super tasty. We'll definitely come back to try some of their other sandwiches!

We have been wanting to check out Vero for months - so glad we finally made way this evening! We got the Il Diavolo and Don Angelo! Great flavours - next time we would ask for extra sauce. Can't wait to try the rest of their menu!

Vero Italian Sandwich is a great place for a focaccia sandwich. They take your order at the entrance area and you can wait in the small space or head downstairs where there is lots more room to enjoy your meal/wait for your order. It takes about 10-15 mins to assemble, the downstairs area is where they prep the bread doughs. We had the IL Diavolo and it was great. There was enough for 2 people to enjoy and they do stack on the meat and fillings. The sandwich is served room temp/cold and the bread is amazingly soft. It isn't too salty at all, relying on the cured meats, cheese, and spread to provide the flavor. The container they put it in and the way they wrap the sandwich makes it an easy grab-and-go and to eat anywhere. Will be back to try their Smoke & Dolce, Fungo Cotto, and other sandwiches in future.

The God-Feather sandwich with halal turkey

The staff here are amazing and so nice. I won a giveaway to try the God-Feather halal turkey sandwich and they literally applauded and cheered when I said I won. I wish I got his name, but the employee even gave me a drink and their dessert for free. The God-Feather was absolutely massive! So much sliced halal turkey and a decent amount of provolone cheese. The caramelized onions added so much flavour. I definitely need to come back for another one. The dessert was good too. It was Nutella and chopped pistachios on slices of soft and fluffy bread. The restaurant is small but there is bar seating to sit and eat your sandwich. Overall, I had a great experience and can't wait to go back.

It's kind of interesting how many Italian sandwich joints have popped up lately, but it's hard to complain when they're as good as Vero Italian Sandwich Co. We showed up at around lunchtime and decided to share the Gabagool ("Capicola, Mortdella, Fresh Mozzarella, Giardiniera, Tomato, Basil Pesto, Balsamic Arugula"). The sandwich was ready within minutes and was absolutely enormous. I'm not sure how one person could possibly eat it, so I was very happy we made the decision to share. It's an amazing sandwich. All the components are well above average, and it's obvious the sandwich has been assembled with care. The various flavors and textures all work so well together, and while I thought it was maybe a little too saucy, that's an awfully minor complaint for what's mostly a seriously delicious concoction. I'm really excited to try some of Vero's other options. I do think they should consider putting a half sandwich option on the menu, as I find it highly unlikely I would ever order a full 'wich on my own.

    La mortazza
    Clara C.

Got the grande 'la mortazza' sandwich which was plenty for 2 to share. The bread is made fresh in-house and you can even see the chef making the bread downstairs. There are a few bar seats upstairs and a larger dining area downstairs (about 6 tables). They generously filled the sandwich with mortadella which was so good it felt like it melted in my mouth. The service was amazing - the chef saw someone go downstairs but all was full but as soon as they went back upstairs a seat freed up so he ran upstairs to let them know a seat was available.

The kind, attentive service was outstanding, the food exquisite, and sitting outside in the flower rimmed quiet patio made the ambiance just what we wanted. We had dinner there 3 out of the 5 evenings of our trip, it was so outstanding!!! And, we were welcomed warmly each night by Khalid, making us feel like VIP's! His menu suggestions & wine choices were perfect! And my sincere compliments to the Chef who prepared our fine appetizers, breads, pasta, and dessert. They deserve 5 stars! Truly excellent!!

There is an upstairs balcony seating but I've never sat there. During warm weather, there is plenty of roadside outdoor seating too. This is my fourth time here but I never wrote a review fir the restaurant before. We ordered the following: 1. Shrimp Perno (daily special $6/shrimp). Jumbo Shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, tomatoes, scallions, and finished off with a shot of perno liquor. 2. Rack of Lamb (daily special $59.95). Four pieces of lamb in a rack, with a rich portion wine reduced sauce, that has a touch of mint to it, and Penne Pasta in a tomato rose sauce. The table bread was really good. The crust was crispy but the inside was fluffy. The soft butter that came it was so tasty. The bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce that came with the shrimp. We asked for a second basket of bread and they put two loafs in the second basket. It was too much so they were willing to let us take it home. The shrimps were definitely jumbo. It was so filling. Two pieces (per person) were good enough as an appetizer. The shrimps were perfectly cooked. We requested the lamb be cooked medium rare. It was definitely medium rare. It was juicy and did not have a gamey taste. It tastes great. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The tomato rose sauce was really good. They offered to grind parmesan cheese and pepper so we got both. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking and paid parking lots. Review 2025-187

This is a wine bar - the house lager was bad (maybe my own bad decision) and the red I got was fine ... nothing to write home about. However place fell apart with the food - the shrimp came with 5 medium sized shrimp with the tails, legs and shells on and were under seasoned. The artichokes were mediocre (loved the sauce they came with). Worst of all was the "Ontario peaches" with the burrata were totally canned peaches - could've even been dole brand! This place has amazing potential with the location and vibe - but the food just was not it. Small portions and the price didn't match what was served. The service was friendly but nothing too crazy. Go here for the drinks, but maybe not for the dinner!

Our server was great at helping us pick our wine, he mentioned that their wines are all on the dry side which is perfect for me, I'm not one for sweet wines. We also had two of their small plates the mussels and the burrata. The mussels tasted great with the sauce, a little garlicky which I prefer. The combination of the peach and mint went really well with the burrata. Light and easy to eat. The patio at night is one of the highlights. The only small complaint was it did take a while to get our wine after we ordered it and a little while to get our check. Otherwise cute spot.

Lots of decent beers on draft and they leave water bottle to refill your water cups, which I love. Service is bit slow. Had to sit at the bar since it was crowded at 6:30pm and still had to wait 30 mins. I normally don't eat at the bar, since bartenders are slower and busier with drink orders, but I was starving. Bartender only checked on us once, when food came out. Hard to get their attention too. Food, however, was amazing! Love the savory giant meatball and the rich San Marzano tomato-based marinara sauce, with dab of pesto and plenty of fresh basil. Loved the sauce was not too acidic and pasta cooked perfectly, not al dente. The focaccia bread comes with this rosemary garlic butter, and it was absolutely delicious on focaccia. The focaccia bread alone was just okay, not much rosemary or oil flavor, but I think the spread had all the flavor. Amazing and worth $6.

Food 3/5 Service 3/5…read moreAmbiance 3/5 Food: I came here for an event. There was a set menu with appetizers (salad, bread etc) most of it I couldn't eat due to food allergies. For the main dish we could choose from gnocchi, salad with salmon or another dish which I can't recall right now. Dessert was ice cream which I also couldn't eat. The gnocchi was very mediocre. I didn't enjoy it at all. I hadn't been here in years but I see their food quality hasn't gotten any better. I was starving by the time the main dish came out so I ate about a quarter of the dish. Then I took the rest of the gnocchi home. Service: The waitstaff were really nice but the service was not very organized. There was a lot of appetizers but I couldn't eat most of it. Which is strange because I gave my food allergies several days in advance of the meal. It took some time to get the main dish as well so the pacing didn't seem great. I looked around at the other tables & we got our main dishes last. I'm not sure if the kitchen was at fault or what. Ambiance: It's quite dark here even on the lunch hour. The decor is dark wood tones, red upholstered banquette seating & wooden tables & chairs. It's not a fancy place. I would not choose to eat here again. Last time I went was several years ago. Sadly I see they haven't gotten any better. There are other better Italian restaurants in this area.
