We went on a busy Saturday (Pride, FIFA games on patios, a Blue Jays game, AND the outdoor market), and the usual busy of a weekend was nothing in comparison. Even still which all the heavy foot traffic and long line it all moved quickly. The gentleman behind the counter was hilarious and kind. I ordered the salad as I didn't want anything too heavy for a busy day and my boyfriend got a veal sandwich. Should have been the other way around. The salad was huge with spring mix, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, pesto, and an entire piece of chicken cutlet. Needless to say there were leftovers. The chicken was crispy, tender and perfect, all of the veggies were crisp and light, while the pesto was the perfect mix of flavour and had a homemade freshness to it. His veal sandwich was saucy and cheesy but the bread didn't quite hold the weight of all of it. (Luckily no white t-shirts were harmed during the eating of this lunch). A good problem to have but could have had a little more solidity to it. A gorgeous lunch on a gorgeous day.

The eggplant itself was incredibly thin. I remember enjoying the sandwiches here but the eggplant was a miss.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. The Godfather sandwich is a generously sized chicken cutlet topped with the perfect amount of Italian eggplant, and covered with onion, peppers, mozzarella cheese - and lots of stuff I'm sure I've missed - finished off with a delicious tomato sauce. This is not a small sandwich and not to be taken lightly. The staff working the line are both crazy-efficient and friendly. This is another place I'll miss when I leave Canada. BB

There is no where to sit adjacent, but there are several stools inside the Market, and picnic tables outside to enjoy your meal. Uno's was a great way for us to graze our way thru St Lawrence. The food is very good & reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly.

The chicken and eggplant were both breaded and cooked perfectly and were both very tender, the sauce was very good, the pesto was very flavorful and fresh, the peppers cut through the saltiness of the chicken and eggplant, and the bread was the perfect type to hold the sandwich together and soak up all the sauce and pesto.
I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana "Nonna's Favourite," which comes with four slices of eggplant served on a fresh Italian kaiser roll with tomato sauce, parmesan, mozzarella cheese, and your choice of toppings. I added roasted red peppers, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, and roasted jalapeño peppers, and it was divine. The sauce and toppings soaked into the bread, creating a truly perfect sandwich. It's also huge--I can never finish it in one sitting. Every time I visit St. Lawrence Market, I always make a stop at Uno Mustachio. It's a must-try!
I had the famous "Godfather's Veal Parmagiano with Eggplant". Impressed by the volume for the price ($14.98), and the cheerful & quick service (ready in 3 mins after order). The lineup of people waiting to order showed that apparently, this is one of the most famous/popular lunch spots in SLM. Loved the generous toppings (mushrooms, roasted peppers, onions - all delicious). A good amount of tomato sauce and cheese (mozzarella & parmigiano). Liked the big & fluffy kaiser buns. Everything is good - except for the veal and eggplant which is the main point of this sandwich! The veal (breaded, deep-fried) was dry and too stringy/hard to chew through. I ended up opening the sandwich, took out the veal and chopped it into small pieces, and ate it with the other fillings and bread. The eggplant had a very thick skin and was also hard to chew. The skin is not incorporated into the sandwich - as I tried to chew it, it slid out from the sandwich. The result was a mess.

They put the sandwiches together in less than 30 seconds once you order. Pastas take a little longer because they have to finish them in a hot pan. Godfather veal parmigiana with all toppings was huge & pretty tasty. It was reasonably crispy since the protein wasn't pre soaked in sauce. The eggplant was actually crispier & tastier than the veal. A choice of "caramelized" (just grilled) onions, sweet peppers, jalapenos & mushrooms was included & was decent. The jalapeno wasn't spicy. The sauce was decent. read more

The nonna eggplant parm is very flavourful and stacked! The sandwich is very big portion. There is always a line up, but they are efficient and lines keeps moving. read more

The tremendous size of the hamburger. Incredibly good taste of the hamburger. Why does eggplant fuse with the meat so perfectly in the burger? You'll be amazed by the burgers, and its price. If you're a tourist, this is a must-eat food. What a fun experience! read more

This restaurant is located in the St. Lawrence Market. I had the Veal Parmigiana sandwich. This was a good size sandwich topped with red peppers. The veal was well prepared and the taste was OK. I found the sandwich got soggy quickly from the peppers. Overall, was just OK. read more

Do me a favour and GET THE VEAL AND EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA. You will not be disappointed! The humongous sandwich was freshly prepared in front of me by the kind staff at this establishment. Between thick slices of bread sits warm red sauce, along with delicious sweet eggplant, veal, and Parmesan cheese. Who knew this combination would work so well? It is a sweet and savoury flavour. Each bite carries a cheesy and meaty satisfaction that will leave you with no regrets. read more
Widely considered the best veal sandwich in Toronto, Uno Mustachio sits downstairs in St. Lawrence Market and is always busy. It's perfect for lunch, but you want to get there early because their items sell out quick. My favourite is the veal parmigiana + eggplant godfather sandwich - it comes loaded with toppings including mushrooms, onions, red peppers, and jalapeños. Both the veal and eggplant are cut into perfectly thin slices and breaded perfectly, and the ratio of sauce / parmesan / fillings makes for a perfect bite every time! read more

By far one of the best sandwiches in the city! When they use to have a shop in the Atrium I use to go 3/5 times a week. Now they are only located in St Lawence market, and it's still worth the commute. Roasted peppers, onions, mushrooms and jalapeño for no add on charge! Uno Mustachio is, as you might imagine, an Italian eatery, given that we are talking about Toronto. It's located in the St. Lawrence Market, an incredibly interesting big central market with stalls just slightly east of the financial district and Union Station. You can walk there from these places. And you should. And you should also walk back upon leaving because of the caloric intake from being a customer here. The veal parmigiana sandwich is a big deal in Toronto. In fact, if I recall correctly, they even vote on an annual basis as to which place has the best one. How the heck is such voting carried out with any accuracy? And what if there are some hanging chads in the voting medium? Uno Mustachio is not a dinner place. It's more of a lunch or a BIG snack place. I bookmarked it on here at some point and I've also seen it on the categorical tourist guide short list of things you should do when in Toronto. I have been here a couple of times over the years. And I always get the veal parmigiana sandwich. Typically, it comes decked out with a lot of things and some of them are things I'm not crazy about ... possibly onions or peppers. That said, my sandwich becomes a simple one: veal, parmigiana sauce, mushrooms, and cheese. The staff is friendly in that gruff but likable way. It's not cheap but it's not expensive, either. The sandwich is sloppy and massive. You should probably take it to go. There aren't enough spic and span tables within the market for my taste. You could take it with you to the ferry to the Toronto Islands if you don't end up eating it before you board! For Americans, remember to divide the price by the exchange rate and that will make it look more palatable to you. I'm tempted to give Uno Mustachio a 3 because, okay, you get a sandwich and a drink and you move on and it doesn't really rock your world. However, because the sandwiches are big and filling and because you can experience the sensory overload that is Toronto while you're in the St. Lawrence Market, I'll go with 4 stars. read more
LUNCH Im gunna give you an offer you can't refuse! Ordered the "Godfather" chicken parm and eggplant with all the toppings and exxxtra spicy! it was Badda boom Badda bing, Bellisima! *kisses fingers* This is probably the only legit place (imo) to go when visiting the SLM and grabbing a bite to eat. Prices are reasonable and service is fast and efficient. Even with long lines. Cash is king here! Tip: there are usually two long lines if you come during peak lunch hours. Always go to the one on the left side of the booth and make sure it not the line to the greek place beside it as they usually conjoin near the huge pillar. Amore a prima vista, Ciao! I make a trip and pick up a sandwich every two weeks or so because it is SO good. The Godfather's chicken & eggplant sandwich is my go-to: marinara sauce, a few pieces of eggplant, a juicy piece of chicken, mozzarella and parmesan cheese, topped with mushroom, roasted red peppers, and caramelized onions. The sandwich is HUGE and can either be one very large meal or two medium sized ones. It's quite messy to eat (grab lots of napkins) if you have it immediately, but is manageable if you let it cool for a bit. The service is friendly and efficient. I cannot recommend the sandwich enough. Come by after peak lunch hours for a short (or non-existent) line. read more

Very much enjoyed this place, quick and friendly service. I ordered the veal and eggplant godfather sandwich. It's huge and a total happy place for carb loving foodies. Choose how spicy you want it and if you want onions. Many other options I want to try next time, the chicken looked good too. This is a large lunch in one sandwich. read more
I was here just before starting our scavenger hunt game that was in the area so need a bite to last me a few hours and found myself here, Uno Mustachio is located in the lower area of the St. Lawrence Market. They serve all sorts of pastas and sandwiches. At first I thought it was quite expensive for $13 for a sandwich but when they started to assemble it wow it was huge. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich with provolone cheese, grilled eggplant and peppers. This guy was pretty filling and lasted me the few hours of running around the city. Heads up this place is located on the bottom floor of St Lawrence market. Cash only..., but thankfully they accept Ritual. Was able to order and pay on my phone avoiding wait times. Great service, was fairly quick for lunch rush. Tried the Classic Eggplant, with all the toppings, and extra sauce. Even after a 5 minute walk the sandwich was still intact. Multiple layers of fried eggplant, with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and jalapeno's, in tomato sauce. Tomato sauce was okay but wasn't a deal breaker. Overall I enjoyed it. Large portion size. The bun was soft and soaked up most of the sauce. And the toppings and eggplant were fresh. Would recommend, and willing to trying their Godfather variant and pastas. ** Would recommend ordering on the app. If your eating outside stock up on napkins. read more

Mustachio's makes the best veal sandwiches you can dream of. Everyone has been bothering me about California Sandwiches my whole life, and I couldn't care less about them. Mustachio's beats that place so hard, because they have delicious sandwiches, fast service, and...uh, the best sandwiches ever that you should have immediately (as in right now). Here's what you will do: You will go to Mustachio's, and you will wait in line. When it's your turn, you will get a veal and eggplant sandwich. You'll ask for everything on it (including hot peppers), and your mouth might be on fire for a little bit, but later on, you will appreciate this tip because it makes the sandwich even better. You'll go sit outside on the picnic benches of St. Lawrence Market on a nice day, and eat your Mustachio sandwich, and you will think, "Wow, this is the best sandwich I have ever had. The veal is so lean and is the perfect thin cut of meat that has ever been breaded and fried. Why is this eggplant so deliciously crispy and tasty? And how is this bread so fresh? This sandwich is so amazing that I don't even care if I spill its contents on my jeans, I will probably pick them up and eat them anyways." And then you will think, "I am so glad I searched for the best veal sandwich ever on Yelp. Now that I know Mustachio's is here, my life will never be the same." read more
For an Italian food loving traveler from Hawaii Mustachio was a dream come true. After perusing stall after stall of beautiful food I wandered downstairs into the bowels of St. Lawrence market. It's there that I found this gem. High quality, simple food, cooked to perfection. Even if the rest of the market totally sucked (which it of course doesn't), even if I had to fly 5000 miles again to get here (it'll only be 2000 something once I move to Portland), it'd be worth it to eat Mustachio's "Veal and Eggplant Sandwich". note: I often think the tourist reviews for people visiting Hawaii are a bit silly and over exagerrated....yeah, who's the tourist now? =P So what's so special about this sandwich? Well for starters we can't get them in Hawaii, but the main reason is that they're just really damn good. You Torontonians are really quite tired of us transplanted 'Mericans (especially those of us who have the privilege, the honor, the urban distinction, of being New Yorkers) comparing our nations, our cities, our food. And, you know, I totally get and understand that. No, really I do. Consider Michelle Bachman. But in this case, and in the words of my mother, "tough." Because I finally found an Italian sandwich mecca that, yo, takes me right back to da streets backs home in Brooklyn. Like, fuckin 'A. Located in the lower tier of Toronto's famous St. Lawrence Market, Uno Mustachio is clearly one of the most popular eateries in the entire historic building. Swarming with tourists and sharply dressed business workers during the lunch rush, you might want to grab your il pranzo molto delizioso to go. Why? Seating is incredibly limited and so tightly packed that this isn't the place to be if you're claustrophobic, especially while you're trying to keep the sauce and mushrooms from slipping onto your shirt. Sure, they serve a nice variety of pasta and salad dishes, but the cooks here are Italian sandwich specialists. Chicken parmigiano, veal, eggplant, meatball, chicken with eggplant, veal with eggplant, steak and cheese, steak with cheese and eggplant, all served on kaisers with your choice of hot peppers, sweet peppers, onions and/or mushrooms for garnish. My tastebuds were immediately reminded of the corner shops in Bay Ridge and Bensonhoist. (Ok, maybe not the steak and cheese... that's more Philadephia, but you get the point.) For real Brooklyn effect, make sure you ask for double tomato sauce. Beverages include the usual canned or bottled variety, plus Italian favourites like SanPellegrino and Brio. And if you needed even more good advice about this place, consider what the father of a family of four kids said to his wife as they chowed down next to me: "Hey. It must be good. Nobody's talking." I don't know. I feel people hype this place up that my expectation was very high. But sadly, I was slightly disappointed with my sandwich. Even though the sandwich was big with lots of sauce, I feel like it lacked some flavor. There wasn't any kick to it. I got the "uno" classic veal sandwich for almost $8. That's pretty steep for just a sandwich. The meat wasn't flavorful or juicy. I asked for everything on my sandwich, but the guy only put onions and peppers, no mushrooms. I didn't noticed until I started eating the sandwich. This place must be doing something right because the line was long during lunch time. Unfortunately it wasn't a big hit for me. read more

Uno Mustacho is where I got this sandwich. Personally didn't like the chicken parmigiana but I would be willing to try a different one ! I love the fact that it comes with different toppings such as mushrooms, jalapeño and peppers. read more
