I joined a trip under Erik's leadership shortly after I started indoor climbing, and, in a handful of days, I managed to send routes and experience climbing styles I would have never even dreamed of a week before! That trip was a revolution and a revelation to me. As a novice indoor climber eager to adventure out, but unsure about my capabilities, I felt supported and empowered by Erik since the first second, and even beyond that, his valuable teaching got me totally thrilled for more! Erik's breadth and depth of guiding experiences (from every corner of California all the way to Spain), and his passion for this sport, shine through when he teaches you. He puts his heart and soul into each lesson and makes it easy to grasp and understand. He can give you the reason behind every move, every piece of gear, and every knot and procedure, so that you will never ever forget about it. Not only that, Erik's teachings are not only useful for climbing, his insights are truly universal and applicable to any aspect of your life. Erik knows how to take climbers to the next level and beyond, because he sees pure potential in each of his clients and students. With him, physical and mental walls become opportunities for growth and expansion. Slabs, cracks, multi-pitch routes, lead climbing, and big wall climbing are all at your fingertips under Erik's thoughtful instruction. The sky is the limit, because the vertical world is Erik's natural habitat and source of endless joy. With Erik, you will not only have a blast and improve your climbing skills, but, if you are lucky enough, you'll also gain a lifelong passion and an amazing friend for life =) Thank you Erik. We need more like you out there!

Erik is an absolute rockstar! I've been out climbing with him a few times now. Each experience is new and unique while simultaneously building on our previous sessions. Erik does a great job of tailoring the experience for you. There is flexibility, always something to learn, all while feeling entirely comfortable and safe. I'm so grateful I've met Erik and I'm excited to learn more from him!

It was a fantastic day of climbing, we had fun and felt very safe with Erik, as well as learning some new skills.

When I first walked in, I immediately noticed all of the natural light coming into the room. It really added to the outdoorsy ambiance. The employee at the front desk was super friendly and was quick to get me set up. As for equipment, grabbing shoes was easy (pulled them out of the storage cubes to the left of the front desk), and they provided a harness as well. I'm not sure if the staff normally does the walkthrough on tying a proper knot, since my friend and his friend did it for me. Nonetheless, I do like that they have that area separate from the main climbing area. Helps to take the pressure off a little bit if you're new. There seemed to be dozens of different climbing paths to choose from, with signs at the bottom indicating the level of difficulty. I found that particularly helpful since, as a newbie, everything looked hard. Also, the people I observed and interacted with on the floor were extremely friendly. Really great vibes coming from the community here. The pricing, based on information from my friend, seemed reasonable, since it included the gym and classes. However, I live in Elk Grove, so I probably will stick to visiting this place only now and then. Recommend giving it a try, though!

It ended up being sort of like a hot yoga since it was upstairs, but the instructor was really good. I was definitely sore the next day from it, which doesn't always happen with yoga classes.

Beautiful indoor bouldering gym in the middle of Sacramento…read more Parking: free with plenty of spaces in the complex. The facility is easy to find with large signs on the building and entrance. Restroom: generally clean, with 3 stalls per gender and locker rooms available. Soap was not refilled in one of the restrooms during my visit. I've climbed at many gyms before, but this location stood out because of a very strong odor upon entering. It was much stronger than the typical "climbing gym smell." The receptionist mentioned it was likely from climbing shoes. The gym may benefit from improved ventilation and deeper sanitization/drying of rental shoes. Plenty of activity areas: kids climbing section, routes with various difficulty levels, grip exercise area, weightlifting area, cardio area, one ping pong table, bar area, and open seating/storage spaces for belongings while climbing. The routes are color-coded by difficulty: green is the easiest, followed by blue, up to black for the hardest routes. Some gray holds appear to function as safety/additional assistance holds that can be used if needed. They also host college nights with student discounts. Members can bring one guest for free, and rental shoes are $5. Else adult day pass is $30. Overall, a good bouldering gym with lots of amenities and climbing options, though ventilation and shoe sanitation could be improved.

Lots of space and chairs. Our group had a nice location set up for the event and multiple staff members to help out the littles. This place also has a cafe and some beers on tap which is just another awesome addition. Bathrooms were clean and they also had locker rooms. Add to the equipment they had around and this is really great place for workout or exercising. One final thing is that they allow outside food, so for events you just pay for that and all the food and drinks are up to you. Quite an awesome place for a group team building event!

Remember those days in the playground and their climbing structures? Well, as an adult, The Peak is the place to reignite that hobby and enjoy the sport with a rich community of professionals and enthusiasts. This huge facility is shared among The Peak's climbing structures, an indoor volleyball court, a casual restaurant, and a small arcade. There aren't many parking spots up front but around the back of the building, you'll see plentiful spots. Once you enter the building, head to the left through the glass doors where you'll see the many climbing walls speckled with multiple colored protrusions. The pricing is transparent and it's all available upfront. They do have day passes, multi-visit passes as well as memberships that will waive your entrance fee. In addition to the entrance fee, you may also be required to pay for the harness and shoe rentals (members get a discounted price). They also have chalk for the more advanced climbers. If it's your first time, consider completing the waiver online ahead of time. You may be asked to go through a quick orientation regarding the use of their auto-belay system, however if you already know how to belay traditionally, they may ask you to go through additional training just to be sure. Each wall seemed to feature a variety of colors to distinguish the different difficulty levels for more advanced climbers. Aside from the walls, they also have a huge structure designed for bouldering with a thick padded floor underneath. The boulder and auto-belay walls seemed the most popular but it didn't seem there was much waiting given the ample space in the facility. There was certainly enough climbing space for everyone. As a novice, the activity was fun and tiring; there's definitely a balance between technique and strength! Despite having entry for the whole day, we definitely were tired out within an hour of constant climbing and by hour two, it was just about time to leave and refuel. Fortunately, the location of this space is quite convenient due to having a restaurant right on site as well as its proximity to the highway and other eateries just a few minutes away. The staff were friendly and informative. Besides the initial onboarding, there wasn't much interaction with them. They seem to keep things organized, cleaned and well-maintained. Overall, The Peak does a fantastic job introducing the sport of climbing to the local community and providing a clean and safe environment for newbies and experts alike. The price is reasonable for an all day activity and even more so if you become a member. For kids, they also have camps to build a new passion and train them up as climbers. For the more serious climbers, you may want to consider investing in the equipment to further save on the rentals. If this is a new challenge for you, take the opportunity to get in on this sport! The Peak makes it relatively easy to pick this up and continue leveling up with each visit!
