Austin at Vertigo saved my day! I was traveling and had blown a brake line and needed to make it back to NYC that day. I first took my car to a chain mechanic who took 2 hours to quote me over $1200 and said it would take the whole day. My mechanic in NJ said that was a rip off and to try and find another place. I called probably over 25 places and each place was either booked or said they couldn't fix a Mercedes brake line. Finally I called Vertigo (I was hesitant because the name didn't seem like an auto shop) but thankfully I did because Austin was not only super polite and knowledgeable; he was able to get me in immediately and have it fixed in no time for under $250! AWFUL experience: I was recommended to Vertigo, they seemed like professionals but clearly not. Had a lift and tires put on my Jeep and dropped it off for a whole week. Apparently some retired CO that does auto body for them was responsible for the RIGHT side disaster install... Maybe he should just stick to Bondo and painting. Read below: 1) They installed sway bar end links incorrectly which caused a tear in my RIGHT front Axel CV boot. - Male Secretary behind counter said Jeep came in like that and they didn't want to take responsibility for the tear. Luckily I was able to get a one time goodwill repair at dealer. It was clearly obvious they caused it because the dealer re-installed the end link correctly so it didn't happen again. -The day I picked it up it was clunking in front end bec RIGHT strut was not installed correctly. A test drive before I picked up would have resolved this issue ?!? 2) Two days after initial pickup the RIGHT brake caliper fell off and locked up the rear wheel. Owner had to tow Jeep in the middle of the night to shop and fix next day 3) They broke RIGHT side ABS sensor which they somehow were honest about, I didn't have 4WD or ABS in the snow for two weeks, I had to follow up myself for that repair to get done. 4) Finally when I picked up for the last time I realized there was overspray on my windows from when they painted window trim. - Idiot secretary behind counter had the audacity to tell me its normal from outside diesel exhaust (Jeep is not diesel) and it was not from overspray !!!! - I guess he couldn't take the 10min to scrape it off with a razor blade after the hack job they performed and $3k I spent. 5) After all this they didn't even recommend initially or offer to despite all the ISSUES to do a wheel alignment as my brand new tires worn uneven at 50k miles and needed replacement, rotations were done every oil change... SAVE THE HEADACHE, GO ELSEWHERE. read more

I can't believe these guys only had one review before mine. They should have hundreds, and they really should be all five stars based on our experience. You know how there's always those jokes about some super complicated thing breaking down, and it's always some old dude that fixes it, and the bill is like $1000.05. And the problem was one screw, bolt, or nut? And the owner is bitching about the bill because the problem was the 5 cent whatever, and why is the bill so much? And the punchline is along the lines of you're paying $1000 for me knowing which 5 cent part to change. Which is life. Experience is so goddamn valuable. And Vertigo Motorsports have that experience. They also have tremendous customer service. What they don't have is an outrageous bill for changing that 5 cent part. And ladies. Do you ever go to an automotive shop and get treated differently because you're not a dude? I know it happens. My wife tells me of the stories she's had where she's had her assessment of what the car's not doing ignored and dismissed by the mechanics. Not here. These guys are respectful, and listen. They explain, not mansplain. They'd get a five star from me just for the expertise, the workmanship, and the value for money they offer. Unfortunately can't leave a 0 star review or I would! A single mom here and needed a reliable car for my baby and myself. Austin ensured my family this Ford Escape he had for sale was safe and reliable, one car owner, taken care of, and said he had gone through the whole car with new parts and tires and it would last me a long time. Every Friday after I got it I had to put air in those new tires. "" and within hours of driving the car was knocking, clunking, engine light on, wouldn't stay on the road in the rain, if you turned the wheel hard the car would almost flip over. Chunks of the car and rot were falling off daily from under the car. After complaining enough he did take the car back in and put a lot of work into it. Said he found multiple rot spots under the car bigger than his hand. It needed struts and all kinds of parts that if he had looked at the care prior to selling, he'd have hopefully fixed first. Shortly after the cars battery would keep dying. He told me to go buy a new one. I missed many days of work due to car issues. It's been a year now and I have since had so many issues with this car, other shops started telling me at 6 months to not put anymore money into it because it wouldn't last me another year. I have put hundreds and hundreds into it myself as well as my father and ex, brother etc. Under the car is completely rotted and this car won't last very much longer. Engine light, abs light, knocking again, two front wheel bearings, all sorts of stuff currently wrong with it. It's been one hassle after another but when it's out of their hair, they really don't care. He also rents properties in the area and is a horrible horrible landlord. Takes care of his homes and their tenants the same way he takes care of his clients - half a$$ or not at all. Don't let the one or two good reviews fool you, check out his ratings online and with the BBB. Or just ask around the community. Over the last year since renting and buying from him I have only heard bad things when I say who I got them from. "Oh i wish I would have known I would have warned you" "yeah we were told to stay away from him" "he fixed this for my daughter and it was worse then it went in." I have a 1986 Chevy K10 305 small block with an edlebrock 1406 carb. Had an issue with it not kicking down to low idle. Called many so-called repair shops and vertigo was the only one able to handle carbureted vehicles. They did a great job. I might even say above and beyond. If needed I will return to them and highly recommend to others. read more
