I did the stupid thing by avoiding dentists until my late 20's. I found Dr. Backus after a nearly 10 year self-imposed exodus from modern dentistry. He and his small staff set things right in a way I never dreamed possible by way of sedation dentistry. They packed in several years of work in a single morning. Me? All I remember is signing the paperwork. Imagine a stress free dental procedure (multiple fillings, a crown, and a root canal) with zero pain, and is if no time has passed at all. The team here is patient and kind, encouraging me to forego sedation for future minor procedures. They definitely rebuilt my trust in dentists as I have had a few fillings and a crown adjustment while awake Still, it's nice to have the option when catastrophe occurs. Had a crown procedure done today. The doctor made it seem effortless. In and out in no time.

The first odd part was that the office manager greets you and then takes you to another room to give you a tour and go over a "health history" (including medical conditions, medications, etc). Not sure why an office manager is doing that and not a dental professional like a hygienist or dentist himself; she also acted surprised about the medication I was taking at the time (really should not be judging someone about that). Then she hands me some literature about living your best life, that turns out to be literature written by the scientologist E Ron Hubbard and is a pro-scientology brochure - which, in my opinion, is completely unprofessional (I did some research later and discovered the dentist and his wife/office manager are scientologists which, is fine if they are, but should not be trying to recruit people in a dental setting). The hygienist was nice enough, although my jaw felt sore the next couple of days so she might have been too rough - and, for the record, I go to the dentist twice a year and have no cavities. The dentist came in and barely said two words, just started looking at my mouth and shouting out numbers, etc. Also he was wearing those plastic gloves that you see on food service workers, not medical grade gloves. I was so put off at the end of this appointment that I did not reschedule and decided to never go back. I am not sure where the good reviews are coming from.

We were patients for about 5 years. in June of last year, I contacted their office by phone to cancel all our family appointments for the rest of the year as we were changing insurance providers, and the new coverage would not be in effect until the following January. Then out-of-the-blue in the fall, I received an automated call that "demanded I pay my outstanding balance or our appointment for my son would be canceled". I contacted the office and was told they charged us $50 for a missed appointment. Wait a minute...I explained we canceled all future dates for the remainder of the year, months ago. Apparently someone on their end 'forgot' to remove one when we had mass-canceled, and now were being billed for a missed appointment--their error. I went back and forth with office person Leeann by phone and emails. In each, she was rude, refused to reason or admit to any mistake on their part. I even asked her more than once; what reason would we have to cancel all future upcoming appointments EXCEPT the one in question--she could not or refused to understand--and would rather hold firm and collect the fabricated $50 charge than admit to THEIR error. She then tried to "guilt' me saying she would "do me a favor" and remove the charge. Favor? It was their scheduling error to begin with. What I expected and never received was an apology-- not a "favor". I suppose her attempt for money grab--coupled with her apparent need to 'win"-- was far more important to her than the long-customer loyalty we had with them. In fact, after all that, when we made the decision to change dentists, we even had a problem with her forwarding our dental records to be transferred to our new dentist--which she claims she forwarded--and our new dentist never received until after a couple more phone conversations to finally get that done. We never received an apology from her or the office. (not that I believe it would have been sincere anyway). Sad, really, that the lifetime future value of our family is lost to them over a rude, unprofessional and immature office helper--so entrenched on 'winning' over a $50 billing-- a billing that we never owed in the first place. Again, the hygienists and dentists were always very nice--this is not about them, but rather about the 'face' of the firm-- a front-of-house hired help that apparently does not understand the concept of customer life-time value. I went in for a cleaning, xray, general exam and was in and out in 30 minutes. When I didn't have insurance, I had a cracked tooth pulled for $180. It felt like I didn't get enough anesthetic, but I sure felt better when the tooth was gone. Later, I had a gum infection, and after a $55 visit, I was given a few shots and a prescription that worked great. The office is new, comfortable, and definitely the place to try if you hate or tend to avoid the dentist.

Then after the doctor told me I had "new" cavities, and it wasn't from the root canal I just got from them, I asked the doctor about antibiotics and something for pain, he looked me in my eyes and told me he'd give me something for the pain, which can be excruciating. Fast forward to two days later, I'm at work and my tooth is on 10. I call the next morning @ 7:30 the tell me the doctor will call me back. 12 noon comes, I call them, they have no recollection of me calling, then they put me on hold for 10 minutes then drop me. I call back, they give me some BS excuse saying that they computers went down. Then after an 8 minute wait, then come back and tell me to alternate btw ibuprofen & Tylenol! I'm like "the doctor looked me dead in my eyes and told me, emphatically that they would give me something for pain!" She said the doctor said I should contact my PCP for that. Then why did you tell me you would handle that? I couldn't been called my PCP if that's the case. She wasn't even gone to say anything about the antibiotics I had to tell her I needed that too! Very unprofessional and Will tell everyone I know NOT to go here! Looks nice but they're very unprofessional and really only care about your insurance. They kept saying the 1st time I was there, "you got that good insurance!" I work for Chrysler and definitely will relay the message that this place sucks!!!!

I could go on and on about the things that made me switch dentists...receiving incorrect bills for procedures I didn't have, receptionists pushing and trying to sell me products and procedures, the negativity they showed me and my dental hygiene, and lies they told about what I "needed". My last visit to Namay was 02/25. After the hygienist was done cleaning my teeth and telling me how I need to do better (even though I brush every day and floss many times a week) the doctor came in. He gloved up and touched a total of 10 teeth with his poker for 30 seconds. I'm not exaggerating. 30 seconds of his time and he told the hygienist I had 4 cavities that needed filled. Then he said I grind my teeth in my sleep and I need to mold and purchase a mouth guard through them. I was extremely irritated with the whole experience and negative attitude everyone had. After 20+ years I was done and cancelled all of my future appointments without filling my "cavities". I switched to another local dentist and holy smokes was it eye opening. I had a full panel of X-rays including the panorex. Cleaning was quick and easy as expected. Doctor came in and spent much longer than 30 seconds to evaluate my teeth. They went over my X-rays and said EVERYTHING LOOKED PERFECT. No cavities, no bad oral hygiene, no teeth grinding. Obviously, Namay has been scamming me, my family, and many other patients so they can get more insurance money and out of pocket money from people. It's disgusting, and I'm so happy that me and my 8 other family members finally switched from this scummy business. I do not recommend this dentist to anyone.

Before setting foot in the office I received a call from the doctor welcoming me to the practice. On the day of the appointment, the dental hygienist was very kind and oh so gentle on a few sensitive teeth. Never felt any pain. Everyone was extremely friendly. A few days after the appointment I received a thank you note from Dr. Stubblefield thanking me for choosing their practice. Now THAT is excellent customer service!
