I voluntarily left halfway through the session so we did not get to my left side. I had expressed some concerns via text after the procedure including the bruising and lack of results (they texted me first to follow up) but after 4 days didn't hear back from them so I went to a different doctor in Newport Beach to continue the procedure on the other side of my face. Thankfully I was able to get in on the same day, due to a cancellation. With Dr. Shaden, I left her office with minimal results and horrific bruising lasting over a week, and that's coming from someone who has never had bruising from any sort of injection (never from filler, not once from 5+ past dissolving sessions... I guess I don't bruise easily). I had only about one syringe of filler in my face I wanted to remove, and Dr. Shaden recommended 8 vials of Hylenex which would be $5500 for a single dissolving session. I left the session early and when I finally took my service to a different provider (the Newport Beach one) who offered the exact same filler dissolution service with ultrasound... this other doctor not only had a generous and kind heart to stay overtime to tackle all the filler since I flew from the Bay Area, but also had significantly better skill and super precise technique, using ultrasound to visualize the needle and dissolve every pocket of filler. He gave me my face back, taking 5 years off my age and removed all the filler, with absolutely ZERO bruising. Dr. Shaden charged 5X (yes you read that right... five times) the price of the other provider I went to, with less skillful hands. Actually for the ultrasound portion alone, she charged 7.5X the other provider's fee. I feel it's pretty greedy. I asked to split my ultrasound session which I had already paid for to use some of the vials during my (included and scheduled) followup in 2 days, because that day I was shaken up from being in a car crash, but this wasn't allowed without paying the additional $750 fee so I left. It's interesting because before I got the treatment, I called Dr. Shaden's office and asked why they charge so much more compared to other doctors who do this procedure; I was simply curious if they had a special sauce. The office staff boasted about her skill level. But as someone who has literally compared her work side by side, literally her side of my face, with another doctor's work on the other side, I can say that I do not believe she is more skilled (either in dissolving or preventing trauma to blood vessels). I saw that Dr. Shaden's team said "the same tool of ultrasound will not provide the same results in less experienced hands". Well, in my opinion the other provider was far more experienced. Of course, my guess is that most reviewers here went to Luminous and had their filler fully dissolved at their outrageous price without realizing the exact same ultrasound guided procedure can be done for a fifth of the price, with higher quality results, just an hour drive away. This is one of those rare situations where it's not "you get what you pay for", but they want you to think that. Although I regret spending thousands at Dr. Shaden's to get no results, I'm thrilled I was able to spend a few hundred bucks in Newport Beach today to finally get all my filler removed.

But the incident that occurred was pretty egregious and very shady business practices. I got a Groupon. When I went in a month ago for the first of two treatments, I told them that my sister lives a block from them and may be interested, They OFFERED (without me asking) to give her the same deal as the Groupon ($141 for 2 IPLs, which is a great deal). She called that day and made an appointment for the following week, and they confirmed they would give her the price I had told her they offered. Then, when she went in, they said that the deal was not available anymore, and that she had to pay $450 for 2 IPLs!?!? She said she didn't understand because she had confirmed the price over the phone, and they just said the deal wasn't available anymore. I was embarrassed that I had referred them and upset that my sister took the time out of her busy day to be treated that way (the manager is also very condescending and appears not to care that she loses clients, which as a business owner, I find odd). I went back today for my 2nd IPL (already paid for). After the service, I nicely let them know that they lost two good customers, and that it's not good business practices to offer a price on the phone and then try to charge triple when the client shows up. Instead of accepting responsibility and apologizing, the woman LIED and tried to blame my sister by saying she didn't mention she was the one they'd offered the deal to and the lady had "lots of clients" so she didn't know. I know this is false because my sister told me the story right after, and confirmed again today, that the woman at Azar specifically told her that they "could not honor the deal because it was over" even though they told ME and HER that they would give her that price. She reminded them they offered her the deal and told them they should honor it, and the woman refused so my sister left. The funny thing is that I would have referred her even if they hadn't offered such a low price. After saying it was "fine" when I said she had lost two customers, she then said she'd give her the deal now, but then wrote down $90 for one on a card. I said, that's not the same deal, can you at least do 2 for $180, and she said no. Very shady management. That said, like I mentioned, the person doing the treatment was wonderful, and I'm sad I can't go back - but I don't do business with people like that.
