    Margherita Pizza for one
    Fawn G.

Vesuvio Restaurant & Pizzeria is a classic Italian family restaurant and pizzeria in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and it's known for its traditional Neapolitan-style home cooked pastas, pizzas and entrees. When I first moved to Bay Ridge this was my Italian restaurant: the pizza, eggplant parmigiana and mozzarella in carozza were my faves. The restaurant is rustic with brick walls in their cozy dining room. The first room, where there are booths, is comfy for enjoying a slice with a soda. Tonight, I was in the mood for a white pizza slice and a mini Margherita pizza. I ordered delivery and the food came piping hot and packed with care. Here's my recap: 1. Whitestone Pizza: a heavenly slice of ricotta and mozzarella, ooey, gooey and scrumptious! One slice filled me up and it is my all time favorite slice. The next time I will order it with spinach on top. 2. Personal Margherita pie: fresh mozzarella, marinara and basil. The size is generous for a personal pie. I had one slice, utterly delicious! I froze the rest for a future cheat. Vesuvio specializes in red sauce and their sauce is dynamite! If you are looking for a traditional style of pizza making and entrees ( lasagna, parmigiana and even steak) this is your place! Vesuvio is located on 7305 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. R train to 77th Street, 5 minute walk

When I was perusing some of my older Yelps, I noticed that my summary of a Vesuvio's Pizzeria visit was from a rather disappointing experience and since I had recently paid them a visit and had nothing but good to say I felt an update would be in order. The quick backstory on the update was that after donating blood for my regular drive, I knew I would be hungry and also heading to the comic book store to see what newness might be on the racks. These plans would find me near enough to Vesuvios to enjoy some of their fare once again with my friend who had joined me on the adventure. Once inside, I secured a table and kept the order to a simple two regular slices and a small Sprite. The pie had just come out so mine didn't really need a warming up and that was fine by me as I sometimes accidently end up scalding the roof of my mouth and I know that many of you had been there before and are nodding your head about how much that hurts. Moving along. Our orders were wonderful and there wasn't a morsel left on the plates when we were done. That's the sign of a good experience. Truth be told, this is traditionally known as being good pizza and reflecting on my way old review made me feel that I might just have been having a bad night when I did that one. Since then I've made sure to have a clear frame when doing these Yelps One of the cool observations was that a class of children were present with their teachers and using a party room and actually learning how to make pizza. They all got to bring their work home and were sporting little cook hats. It was cool and made me wish that my class got to do those kinds of things when I was young. So if you want some good pizza and other assorted far that one can find in such a place then I highly recommend Vesuvio. There's a lot of space to stretch out and relax, they do have facilities which is great and there is even a complimentary WiFi signal for you to do social media checking in and more. That's all I've got. Enjoy your visit if you go.

First time dining at this place and at first it looks like a regular pizza place but they host parties as well. Came here for a birthday party and was seated right away. It was not busy for a Sunday night. Our waitstaff was attentive, very accommodating and made excellent food suggestions. The drinks and food came out early.. Some dishes came out a tad salty but overall they're delicious. Will venture to this place again and try their pizza!

Good spot if you are looking for Italian food and the pizza's not bad either ;) Service was very good even though it was busy. The place was crowded for a Saturday night. Even had a private party in the back room. We came here for some pasta. We had the seafood salad and I had the pizziola. Very good, so filling! Would come again

friendly and polite service. The ambience is clean and comfortable. highly recommended. The seafood pasta dish was awesome. I think it's called De Mare something. You will NOT be disappointed! Staff is super friendly and service is great!

Vesuvio is one of the two most well-known classic red sauce joints in Bay Ridge (the other being Gino's). After a recent visit, Vesuvio is unfortunately decidedly my less-preferred of the two options. I opted for the gnocchi a la vodka, which was a generous portion - it wasn't bad, but the gnocchi had a pronounced gumminess and the vodka sauce was heavy without being decadent. I will likely stick to Gino's when the occasions calls for visiting one of these nostalgic restaurants in the future.

A basic but delicious slice that my wife could not contain herself and grabbed a bite b4 the pic

When i lived in brooklyn, i frequented vesuvios and the food was amazing back then. (11 yrs ago) I have popped in from time to time and have never been disappointed. 1- The staff is amazing, they are friendly, caring and are a great bunch of people. Leo was awesome the last 2 times we went. The hostess and the gentleman behind the counter who always has an awesome hat on are great as well. 2- the food, man o man, i have been to very few places that the food has stood consistent for 11 years. No matter what we order, the food is delicious and fresh. From a seafood and pasta dish to a slice of pizza. 3- the affogato was amazing, the deserts were delicious. Def a must try!!

Cozy Italian food in the heart of bay ridge. My go to spot after a long day of work for a nice dinner with friends. The watermelon margaritas were fruity and delicious. The appetizers were tasteful. The calamari was super crunchy! The penne ziti was delicious. I haven't had one like this before! The servers are very attentive and helpful always suggesting a good item off the menu to try!

Cash only, BYOB (with rules depending on how many people), and a time limit on the table. Know what you want when you sit down. Menu is easy, pizza, calzones, sometimes pasta. Simple. Is it worth waiting in line for - maybe - if you have 2-3 hours free and nothing else to do and it's a nice day, sure. But honestly can't say I am running back to do it again. Waiting in line to get added to a waitlist that still doesn't always guarantee you will sit down to eat at the requested time - we were seated 40 mins after checking in (unusually long, never had more then 20 mins or so in past visits) but still a strange system, keeps the spot exclusive I'd guess. Have visited several times and always have had a good meal and the prices are very fair. Seating is not super comfortable and they pack you in for real, the restaurant is also unnecessarily dark and loud - But not in a bad way? I can't explain it but the very delicious pizza makes up for the weird ambiance and all the rules... definitely something to experience atleast once.

I've been eating L&B Spumoni Gardens for as long as I can remember, and it remains exactly what it's supposed to be: loud, crowded, unpretentious, completely its own thing, and ridiculously good. The square slice is the square slice. Sauce on top, cheese underneath, crispy edges, soft center. Don't overthink it. Get one. Then realize you should have gotten two. The sit-down food is classic Brooklyn Italian comfort food, the portions are generous, and obviously you finish with the spumoni. This isn't precious food and it isn't trying to impress anybody. That's precisely the point. Brooklyn has changed about 9,625,247 times in my lifetime. L&B is still L&B. Five stars. Always.

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered a glass of wine, a beer, an arugula salad, and our main food order. Everything started out fine, and the salad came without a problem. But then we waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after we had ordered, I asked our waiter where our food was. He apologized and admitted that he had forgotten to put the order in. By that point, we had already watched other tables receive their food, including people who had arrived well after us. We continued waiting, and after roughly 40 minutes or more, our food still had not arrived. At that point, the dining experience was already ruined and we decided to leave. Ironically, just as we were getting ready to go, the food finally started coming out. I told them we no longer wanted it. The waiter did apologize again and offered us a pizza to take with us, which I assume was complimentary, but by then we were simply ready to leave. Even paying the bill became unnecessarily drawn out. We were charged the full amount for the salad, beer, and wine. I sat with a $50 bill ready to pay, was handed the check, and then ended up standing around for another five minutes waiting for someone to actually take the money. There was no apology from the person handling the payment. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciated that our waiter admitted he had forgotten to place the order. But when a restaurant makes that kind of mistake, the recovery matters. After waiting that long, watching later-arriving customers get served, and then having difficulty simply paying and leaving, an apology and a pizza at the very end didn't really fix the experience. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I can't say the service lived up to the restaurant's reputation.

I've eaten here, come to the Bushwick Block Party to see Action Bronson perform, and spent enough time around Tiki Disco to associate the place with a particularly inventive, free-spirited period in the neighborhood. The dining area still has that wonderfully idiosyncratic character: exposed beams, communal tables, mismatched details, and an open kitchen turning out genuinely excellent pizza. What impresses me most is how naturally Roberta's became more than a restaurant. Food, music, parties, outdoor spaces, and an extraordinary mix of people all seemed to converge here, giving the place a cultural gravity that could never have been designed by committee. It remains one of those places that instantly takes me back to my bachelor years and an especially fun chapter of my time in the city, when Bushwick felt endlessly creative, and Roberta's seemed to sit comfortably at its center. Got a TGTG order here. 11/10 I'd do it again…read more Brooklyn DOP actually originated as a pandemic business where my friend's personal trainer started baking pizzas outside of his Greenwood Heights apartment. When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. Their pizza is SOOO perfectly crisp and charred, and actually is one of the closest pizzas that reminds me of the famous originals in Napoli.

Brooklyn DOP is a prime example of what happens when a pandemic lockdown, a dough obsession, and an…read moreinability to sit still all collide. We visited as a stop on Scott's Pizza Bus Tour, which meant we were actively evaluating it against some of the best pizza in the city. Evaluating pizza on a tour is tricky because excellence becomes relative when you are eating multiple high-end pies in a single afternoon. According to Scott, Brooklyn DOP began in founder Thomas Ardito's apartment during the 2020 lockdowns. With his primary work on pause, he started baking pizza and selling pies through Instagram to pay his rent. People kept ordering. His friend Jason D'Amelio joined the effort, and what started as an apartment project turned into pop-ups and eventually a brick-and-mortar shop on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. That is a considerably more compelling origin story than a corporate franchise business plan. The setup in Park Slope includes a quiet back courtyard, which offered a comfortable spot for our group to sit, eat, and recover between stops. It feels relaxed and distinctly Brooklyn without trying too hard to remind you where you are. The pizza itself is very good. The crust strikes a proper balance between a crisp bottom and a chewy interior. The toppings are handled with care, from the crushed tomatoes to the fresh mozzarella. This is dough crafted by people who take fermentation seriously rather than relying on pre-packaged shortcuts. On its own merits, the pizza is a solid 4.5 stars. Unfortunately for Brooklyn DOP, it was competing on a tour against places operating on another plane. It is an excellent pie, but it was not the single slice that caused the entire tour to fall silent in collective awe. Still, that is an aggressive standard to hold against any local shop. Brooklyn DOP offers a great courtyard, a serious approach to dough, and a standout product. Landing just shy of five stars says far more about the sheer volume of elite pizza we ate that day than it does about the shop itself. Four stars. And if you are not spending the afternoon riding around New York with Scott Wiener eating pizza at some of the finest pizza joints the 5 boroughs have to offer, you can probably bump that half-star back up.
