They were flexible about when I could go in to decorate. The tables were perfectly arranged into a large L for our group. Every request I had was met with a yes and a smile. From the moment I walked in to ask about the small room, they were welcoming, kind, easy-going and focused on making my event warm, wonderful & stress-free. I chose from a set of catering menu options, changed 1 item, added 2 others and it was all done without a blip. Even the cake was taken care of for me. Absolutely nothing slipped thru the cracks. Every need was anticipated & attended to. Management and Service were welcoming, pleasant and solicitous to every guest. Lunch was wonderful. The food truly was impeccable. Everyone raved. Salads were fresh, pasta was perfect, intermezzo was the requested pink and served with a flourish, adding to the fun. Everyone raved about the food. The entree choices of chicken, eggplant or salmon were all done to perfection. No one meal was best over another. Portions were generous. Many women took almost their entire entree home after filling up on the appetizers, salad and al dente pasta a la vodka. Even packing left-overs was accommodated with a knowing smile. Everyone raved about the food, the service, the room. And here I am, 2 weeks later, still impressed and so grateful to management and staff at Vesuvio for making our very special event very memorable and successful. Each time I've visited, the experience was remarkable. All of the food is flavorful, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The service is great and it feels like the establishment takes pride in what they produce. It gets crowded, but it's never been overwhelming or overly noisy. When I was perusing some of my older Yelps, I noticed that my summary of a Vesuvio's Pizzeria visit was from a rather disappointing experience and since I had recently paid them a visit and had nothing but good to say I felt an update would be in order. The quick backstory on the update was that after donating blood for my regular drive, I knew I would be hungry and also heading to the comic book store to see what newness might be on the racks. These plans would find me near enough to Vesuvios to enjoy some of their fare once again with my friend who had joined me on the adventure. Once inside, I secured a table and kept the order to a simple two regular slices and a small Sprite. The pie had just come out so mine didn't really need a warming up and that was fine by me as I sometimes accidently end up scalding the roof of my mouth and I know that many of you had been there before and are nodding your head about how much that hurts. Moving along. Our orders were wonderful and there wasn't a morsel left on the plates when we were done. That's the sign of a good experience. Truth be told, this is traditionally known as being good pizza and reflecting on my way old review made me feel that I might just have been having a bad night when I did that one. Since then I've made sure to have a clear frame when doing these Yelps One of the cool observations was that a class of children were present with their teachers and using a party room and actually learning how to make pizza. They all got to bring their work home and were sporting little cook hats. It was cool and made me wish that my class got to do those kinds of things when I was young. So if you want some good pizza and other assorted far that one can find in such a place then I highly recommend Vesuvio. There's a lot of space to stretch out and relax, they do have facilities which is great and there is even a complimentary WiFi signal for you to do social media checking in and more. After a recent visit, Vesuvio is unfortunately decidedly my less-preferred of the two options. Leo was awesome the last 2 times we went. This is a not a review on the food but the service. I have gone out to eat here with my children who are very young. I want my kids to never feel limited by our circumstances when I decide to take them out to eat. I earn enough to every once in awhile want to do something nice for us. However, every single time I've taken them to eat in the restaurant, not the pizzeria side, I have a similar experience. Maybe the waiters do not take me seriously because I'm one adult with two kids but I try my best to bring things to keep them occupied. They were well behaved considering. I watched my waiter give the utmost hospitality down to it's my first week, my name is...don't forget it yada yada while dialogue was made minimal for myself. I try to be to the point with my kids bc they are young and I would like to give us the experience even if it is not what you would get from a couple and I'm not spending 300 bucks in the place but it does not mean that I get any less hospitality. young kids can sit still and be kept occupied but for so long before you watch ppl come way after you get their meals while you wait for yours. I did not even get the courtesy of hey sorry the meal is taking so long this is what is going on bc clearly I'm watching ppl who came in 20 min + after me get the rest of their entrees even though I said please don't wait just put in the next order. I had to make the waiter uncomfortable by staring him down every time he entered the room; even getting the bill felt like an ordeal. I get it was a busy day. I made reservations knowing people would Be coming here. I had even called to make sure that it didn't have a block out date. I was told I could use it anytime. I made reservations and when I got there, was told it was only for take out orders (?) To my surprise the manager didn't try to keep us in the restaurant, she wasn't nice. So we walked out. I must say this is FALSE ADVERTISING, I have the coupon to prove it. Disappointed. Very disappointed. Overpriced, overly salty, and pretty bare plates for the food you are getting. They try to build it up like you are getting something special but in reality it feels more like you are getting scammed. The tortellini soup I ordered is bland, and not worth $11. You get a lot of tortellini, but it felt like this would be something you would order in a hospital. The chicken broth is bland, maybe flavorless at times. The Pomodoro pasta is also a disappointment. I felt I could make this at home for a fraction of the price. When I complained to my server about the one sad sausage link I received in the dish, she simply shrugged and asked, "Do you want another?" "No thanks." I told her, knowing full well it would not be free (adding sausage to this dish already costs $5). At least the free bread is delicious and hot when it comes out. If I have to recommend a low key but great place to visitors in Bay Ridge, this is it. First, managers and staff treat you like family. They are friendly, prompt, and remember you after you come in a few times. Recently my Dad went to the hospital and they asked about him in a genuine way. The little details matter and help make this place stand out. Second, the food. Wow. The pizza is great, which is not unusual in south Brooklyn, but the pasta is next level! The house made pasta (changes weekly) is top notch for $20-$25 per entree. And the servings are huge, ideal for 2 people to split. I love the chicken or eggplant parmigiana too, which is the ultimate winter comfort food. Third, special shout out to the coffee. It's from Italy and they brew it fresh several times a day. Another fine detail is the see-through glass they serve it in, not the typical ceramic mug. It just adds a nice touch of class to your drink. Fourth, the value. You could pay a little less in the area, but for an elevated pizza shop you cannot find better entrees with higher quality Ingredients and generous portions...worth the money every time.
