The attention to detail and planning the owners have put into this new RV park is incredible - down to the very best shower/bathroom facility I've ever seen! I know they have many things planned for this park, but just the land and creek running through the land was enough for us to know we will be back soon! The sites are well-planned out, the water/sewer/electrical hook ups are brand new, once the grass grows a bit more the sites will be perfect! You can jump on the La Crosse River State Trail, only 5 minutes by bike or drive and park nearby. If you fish or just like to hike around, the creek is beautiful. The amount of time and effort put in to maintain the health of the creek is evident. The multi-generational family owners were so welcoming. I'm glad they decided to share this beautiful land with others! We will be back soon.

Don't let the pictures fool you, this place was packed full of campers over Memorial Day weekend but cleared out on Memorial Day itself. The space is dog friendly and the grounds are well maintained. The real sell for us is the pool. They keep the water warm and clean while also having a hot tub. Although the pool is generally crawling with kids, we still appreciated the water. The views of the lake are beautiful and the shade from the trees on the property helped keep our camper cool. They have several full hook up spaces as well as W/E. They have a dump station on site and we also got decent service being near the town of West Salem. For those who don't have campers, you can also rent a cabin instead. On holiday weekends they generally have events (we saw a golf cart parade, a military event for the Memorial Day holiday, as well as a band). So far, this has been our favorite spot to camp.

This place is clean and well-maintained. The Porta potty's nearest our tent camping site were…read moreliterally pristine even though it was rainy, and they had a nice little trashcan inside the Porta potty and outside of the Porta potty. It's the details! The land itself was gorgeous, the lady on the phone listened to the fact that I had six teenagers and put us at the spot right by the fishing hole where we had our own private beach for the river. The river the first day was up to our knees with a current that was manageable. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative with tubing ($11 a tube) which is what we wanted to do, but they also rented kayaks and canoes. The girl in the store was the family owner's teenage daughter and she was very sweet. At one point the four 14 year old boys took off on an Adventure down river, so I was in cell phone contact after hours with the owner of the campground trying to find out where they might pull aground when we spotted them coming in on an ATV from a local, friendly neighbor. They have a well-maintained volleyball court, gaga pit, badminton court with all the necessary equipment. They had covered picnic table area and a little camp store with cold pop and ice. They had cabins for rent at $149 a night which I looked into when there was a tornado watch. We were the only tent campers, (maybe other people had actually read the weather report), but it was a very quiet campground with only a crying baby early one morning from the many RV sites. None of us took a shower, but I did use the bathroom and peek into the showers and they were spotlessly clean like everything else. We also took a walk through their butterfly garden, so beautiful and peaceful. And for some reason not very many mosquitoes, not sure if they treat for them or we just got lucky but pretty much no bugs except for some flies when the teenagers didn't wash the dishes properly... it was about $150 for three nights of tent camping which included two sites and five packs of wood. A bargain! You won't regret it! Oh and my last bit involves cell phone reception: if you have T-Mobile you will get no service, if you have Verizon you will go from no service to 1 to 2 bars randomly, and if you have AT&T you will have full service the whole time.

We stayed during the week and it was very peaceful and quiet. There were a lot of of children for my three littles to play with. The swimming area is so pretty! It is pretty shallow so it was perfect for my 2 year old and 5year old to play. Our last day we decided to float the river and it was beautiful and an easy float. The owner was friendly as well. My only suggestions are to bring lighter fluid because the wood is a little damp and some type of fly repellant. Mosquitoes were not bad at all which was great! Overall we absolutely loved Lost Falls!

I called ahead and the day we were arriving as we were running late, and the gal who answered the phone was very pleasant and helpful. As the campground had some flooding, she drew us out a map to help us get to our campsite, and left it in the kiosk on the side of the main building, which we were able to grab when we arrived. SO helpful! We were in a site right next to the shower houses which was super convenient. The showers are a pay-as-you-go option, so make sure you have quarters if you want a shower... one quarter gets you 5 minutes. The shower and bathroom floors were pretty cold, but as long as you have flip-flops or something, you'll be fine. We'll definitely stay here again.

So the campground is a popular home for trout fisherman out to enjoy the wonderful streams in this beautiful part of the state. Roger Widner who ran this place was a first of his kind force for cold-water preservation, restoration and landowner relations in the area. Sadly, he's recently passed away. If you take advantage of the local recreation resources, you may want to think about and give thanks for his efforts making the area what it is- he's sorely missed. With Roger's passing, the West Fork Sportsman's club had the duties of keeping up and running the campground. Changes are surely in store, I'll update this review as more is sorted out... In the mean time, Trapper, who lives right in the middle of town (on Trapper Rd) sells firewood and will be up to date on the campground logistics.
