Do not bring your dog here unless you want them to die. Straight up. Brought my dog in waited for 3 hours. They spent 20 minutes on him and ran no tests. No blood test, no poop test, no xray. Just said he was in "general pain" gave him a shot for the pain. Took him home, 12 hours later he passed away. They gave 0 diagnoses. I dont even know why my dog died. They say it's an "Emergency Center" but did not treat my dog like it was an emergency. Then Had the audacity to tell me "sir I'm not gonna continue this conversation with you I'm not getting through to you. We gave him the proper treatment and I feel like we're just repeating the same things running in a circle" on the phone when complaining to them that they did nothing to prevent my dogs suffering and death. Absolutely foul and disgusting behavior. Disgusting practice at this Vet truly please do not bring your animal. If you have to make a drive to a further facility DO IT. They will not take care of your beloved babies. Because of their negligence I lost my baby. Because they didn't take the time to care for him he is now gone. 100% facts. PLEASE READ! My French bulldog had an emergency C-section, paid $2,500 & she was released while she was visibly extremely distressed. They also forgot to remove her IV's!! When I called they mentioned that they take responsibility on "forgetting" the IVs in her hand! She wasn't cleaned after surgery & when she returned home she had a fever! She was in & out in less than 3 hours & they refused to monitor her when I had asked them for her to stay a bit longer for her own health. I ended paying a different center an additional $1500 to care for her and remove the IVs they had forgotten. They had little empathy towards her. AVOID THIS CLINIC AT ALL COSTS! Saved my dog's life over the weekend. Once she had been assessed and initial stabilization was started the vet answered all my questions. As she improved, I got less frequent updates with less information so don't be angry like some of these reviewers, realize that there's probably a sicker animal than yours there and be thankful it's not your animal they're spending so much time with. You can see on the bill how the nursing and equipment charges decreased once she no longer required critical care and only needed standard services. I would give them a five start review but my only negative commit is their wait time/treatment time is hours of waiting. Treatment and staff were all wonderful. They were affordable too. Again, sitting in a hot car outside (because of covid they don't let you go inside) for hours is difficult. Dropping them off and coming back isn't an option and you can't check in unless you are outside waiting. I just wish they would figure out a way to do an online check-in so you arrive 15 min before they take your animal back. we've had fairly decent experiences at this location until this last weekend. my dog had been spayed at another clinic, and once being home for a bit afterwards, she had developed a hematoma and started bleeding from the incision. we immediately rushed her up there and saw a sign that stated they were on a 3 hour wait. once inside, there was nobody in the waiting room and 1 room had someone in it. she was actively bleeding all over the waiting room, so they decided to put us in a room. once in there, we waited another 25 minutes to see a vet tech, who examined her and left to talk to the vet. we waited a bit more and then she asked if we could help bring her into the hospital area because she can be aggressive. whenever we walked into the area, the veterinarian was sitting in a chair, which doesn't bother me BUT you stated your on a 3 hour wait?? we then took her back into the room and waited a bit longer for the plan. the vet tech then came back to tell me they felt she was in a very critical situation and needed emergency surgery. then to top it all off, made my partner and i feel as though if we didn't haven't the surgery, our sweet girl wouldn't make it. so here we are, at 1:00 am being told the surgery was going to cost $2,000 and she needed it ASAP. i explained that i did not have any money. she then told us to starting phoning family or starting a go fund me. we genuinely had maybe $40 to our name so we asked if she could be wrapped up and take her to her vet first thing in the morning. they agreed, but continued to make us feel as though she would not make it. the next morning, the hematoma had decreased in size and bleeding had seized entirely. we took her to her primary, and within 5 minutes with an ultrasound, they said she looked great! he said that if there was any bleeding at all, it fixed itself and she would be just fine. all this being said, this place wanted to do an emergency surgery without making any effort seeing what could be going on. i don't hate the place but they charge stupid amounts of money knowing most will pay it for their fur babies and could've worded what they told us, completely different. this is just my experience with them, that really bothered and upset me. especially knowing they could've gotten an answer, within a few minutes rather than cutting my sweet girl back open. we plan on looking at other options for our sweet babies in the meantime, and i recommend others do too. read more

Couldn't have been more pleased. "Baby" was in bad shape with a urinary infection. I didn't realize how deadly blockage can be to cats. Dr Diaz and his staff had him in the exam room before they even knew my name. Very professional. Highly recommend. Baby is much better on the road to recovery. read more

TARA is a most disrespectful, zero compassionate young lady. I was turned away after told to drive in 35 minutes away. TARA tells this at the vehicle and chops the wind with her hands as she talks. When I expressed that I am upset, could she do this easier, it apparently PISSED HER OFF. She began chopping the wind more as she specified they could not help. When I told her my dog was going to die and what can I do, she stated "I can't tell you that" in her forceful "I am the boss" attitude. I guess she thought that form of customer service is ok if they are not going to help you. There is a reason she felt confident to behave this way and I blame management for allowing an employee get so confident in talking to distressed pet owners the way she chose to. read more

My 17 year old red heeler became very sick tonight. I've been to this place several times before and had decent experience except they like to make you wait...and wait. The last time I went there, I was the only person with pet and it was still 25-30 minutes before the vet lady came in to see us after being interviewed and asked the same questions by 3 different girls and then again by vet lady for the 4th time. So, tonight, the girl at the front desk takes it upon herself to tell me to go to a "regular" vet and wouldn't even get the vet lady even after I asked her to. I was so mad. I called back and talked to vet lady and she asked me to come back down after I had already driven back across town and to a different clinic. read more

I took my akita in one evening when she had been unable to keep any food or water down all day and had diarrhea. The staff were friendly and the space was clean. It did take awhile for the doctor to get to us as I think he was the only doctor there that evening and all of the rooms were constantly full. But when he did make it back he was compassionate and helpful. He decided her problem was some kind of bacterial gastro problem so he administered four shots and gave us some antibiotics. He also typed out step by step instructions for how I was to feed, water, and administer medicine the next couple of days. He educated me on what to watch out for in case she started to bloat. I am thankful to have Mike Linville and this Animal Emergency Center in Norman. read more

If I could give this veterinary center 0 stars, I most definitely would. This is the most greedy, money centered, heartless animal center I have ever encountered in my life. Please do not bring your beloved animal child here as all they care about is taking your money. In fact, they will demand money before they even take a look at your animal, regardless of how critical its condition may be. I have had multiple experiences at this vet, and they've all been the same. My first experience with them was when my large dog needed to go in for an emergency visit and they quoted us an exorbitant amount of money in order to potentially treat him. I was very dissatisfied with the extremely insensitive tone the veterinarian had when talking to me about my dogs condition and what the next steps were. None of the staff had any empathy for my pet and were simply trying to get money to do a procedure which they were not sure would even work. I decided to transfer my dog to another pet hospital in Oklahoma City, and the veterinarian from this center actually called the other hospital in Oklahoma City and told them exactly how much they were going to charge me for the procedure. Once my dog was transferred to the other veterinary hospital, they called me and told me that they spoke to the previous vet and were going to charge the same amount for the procedure as I was initially quoted by this place. This is price gouging and is illegal! The last experience I had with them was when my husband found my dog almost lifeless on the kitchen floor and immediately drove her to this emergency center. Unfortunately, I was out of town at the time but I did call the front desk before my husband arrived in order to get him checked in and inform them that he is on the way. As soon as he arrived, it became immediately obvious to the emergency technicians that my dog was in an extremely critical condition, but they told my husband that they would not treat her until he gave them $500. He kindly informed the technician that he did not have $500 on his person (as grabbing $500 in cash was the last thing on his mind when he found our dog lifeless on the floor), but that he could go to get it from our house right away if they would just resuscitate her in the meantime. They hesitated to treat her and ultimately told him that he was not allowed to leave the parking lot. I had to call in and make a partial payment over the phone and the front desk secretary came out multiple times to harass him about the money in an extremely aggressive manner. Once again, the staff had absolutely zero empathy for our pet and the situation that we were in, despite the fact that we paid for her resuscitation in full. They were ultimately not able to treat our dog, so we had her transferred to another hospital where she passed peacefully. I never post any reviews anywhere, but I feel that it is my obligation to warn people to be wary of this hospital. No one should be treating an animal if they are not capable of compassion and empathy, especially in some of the worst times of a pet owners' life. A pet owner dealing with an extremely sick animal should not be met with greed and hostility. Our pets are our children and they are major parts of our lives. This hospital does not deserve to be operating in the state of Oklahoma. read more

Our beloved Great Dane was struck by a vehicle and brought for emergency care at AEC. Heartbreakingly, we made the difficult decision to put him down due to his injuries, but my mother and I will never forget the compassion shown by the team here. Dr. Diaz explained all of our options (medical and financial) with both professionalism and kindness. He was not only transparent and honest, but also gentle and patient. It was clear that he genuinely cared for our babies and for our family. Leah (I believe she is a nurse) was incredibly comforting. She shed some tears with us and even offered us some homemade baked goods while we waited. My mother was beside herself with grief from the time we arrived to the time we left, and Leah was so accommodating, understanding, and reassuring as she sat and talked with us. I'm so grateful for these wonderful people for making a very tragic evening so much more bearable. read more

I have actually had to come here twice because my dog does not believe in getting sick during regular business hours, and both times we have received excellent care. I actually think I'll just swing by here myself the next time I'm having a medical emergency. They are super friendly and you can tell they really care about the animals. They got us right to a room and had someone in to see is immediately. They tell you right up front how much the fee is to be seen, then after the vet sees you, they give you a recommended course of action, including the price, and you go from there. They give you all the information you need to make a good decision, all the while also factoring in what is best for your pet. There were pamphlets in the room for financing options, so I think they can help set you up with that too in case your poor furry baby is having a big emergency. It is my hope that you never need to utilize their services, but if you are in the Norman area and have a canine (or other) crisis, your furry baby will be in good hands here. read more

This is not a "hospital". They cant do a sonogram, transfusions, surgeries. All they do is stabilize overnight, IV with fluids, antibiotics, and then tell you that the animal has to be taken home or to a vet at 7:30 in the morning no matter what is wrong. Because no one is there to watch your animal if it had to stay in the hospital. Take your animal to Blue Pearl or Neel so that way you don't have to transfer your animal later in distress! As my cat was dying, all the vet talked about was what technology they were going to get in the future even though the vet that I dropped her with acted like they could do transfusions in house. So I didn't find this out until 8 hrs later with her suffering. I wouldn't even give it one star if i could. $784 later as well. read more

Daughter took her puppy there due to seizures. Their first response, being that she is a college student, "Your dog ingested Marijuana." Wouldn't listen, Blood Test, Had it reviewed NO, NONE, ZERO THC in the dog system. Still wouldn't listen. Almost $600.00 later & no real determination. All the research we did is the flea & tick medicine may have caused it. They ruled it out & kept saying marijuana. Rude, obnoxious. Don't trust your animal there, that is if your a college student. Had my cat admitted here on a Saturday night (around midnight) & checked out on a Friday evening (around 7 PM), so I was put through the ringer for a week, but Dr.Diaz & the Vet Tech Natalie, definitely made it easier. Poor kitty was hissing & could barely walk with his stomach blown up and bloated like a balloon. I rushed him here and within about an hour and a half was told that it was a blockage he was suffering from & was unable to pass urine. It was so severe that he ended up having to get Perineal Urethrostomy surgery to help prevent this from happening again & making mine, and my cat's quality of life better. Expensive is an understatement for what I came out paying by the end of the week, and being young, it's been stressful. Besides some miscommunication between day time staff with evening staff on the status of my cat and how he's doing and a long wait here and there (which would be expected in an emergency facility), I'm overall happy I took him here. The doctor called and would update me as well as explain things clearly to me with an understanding that these things are stressful & the Vet Tech was very personable and kind. She made sure she did what she could to make the process easier. Even post surgery, after I brought him home, I had concerns and ended up bringing him back to get him looked at for no charge and the staff helped demonstrate/explain what to look for in the cat next time. Go to your home veterinarian if possible due to the over cost of any emergency facility you'll visit, but if you have a weekend emergency, I'd recommend this place. read more

We went here on Thursday night after our dog was having labor breathing (she had surgery on Monday 4days ago). They were nothing but amazing! The staff was calming and helpful. The doctor did everything in his power to help us. He gave us all the options we had and let us make any and all choices. I felt informed the entire time. We kept her overnight there, and picked her up in the morning. We almost lost her walking to the car. He stayed late just to keep her alive and get her stable until we could transport her to another animal hospital. They are wonderful. Our dog was the victim of a brutal dog attack. I prepared myself to understand that he most likely would not survive. But Dr. Linville and the staff are incredible. From surgery, to daily care, to communicating with our family, they not only saved our dog's life, but walked this journey with us each day as we watched and waited. AEC is the cleanest veterinarian clinic I've ever been in. The waiting room is so comfortable and clean, with great television and coffee for the hours of waiting. The surgical and "hospital bed" area is extremely clean and organized. This was the best of the best. Is it expensive? Yes. But sorry, you have to understand that these medical practitioners are providing an all-night care with state of the art technology to save the lives of our fur babies. That is going to come with a cost. My baby always had clean, brand new plush blankets in his crate. I've never seen a boarding area so clean.
