Went for a rabies vaccine for my 4 year old husky lab, told the lady over the phone my dog is aggressive and I need to hold him with his muzzle on, she said no problem. We sat there and waited for an hour and 35 minutes just for them to offer me countless promotional vaccines, and programs. Then they finally took his weight, waited another 10 minutes and then had to come back to the waiting room to ask me what his weight was. Then the vet came In, asked if she could see my dog and pet him, I told her I just needed the vaccine and that he is aggressive and I would have to hold him/restrain him while she gave him his vaccine. She told me NO, imagine telling a patient no?? Proceeded over and over to ask to see him so after warning her I obliged. She took my dogs leash and kept acting like she was taunting him, he kept growling, she kept scratching around his ears and pulling his harness tight even though he was growling and biting. She laughed at him and then he finally attacked her, jumped on her and she screamed. I had to stand up, run over there and pull my dog off of her. She wasn't hit because of the muzzle but this woman was scared. I wanted to tell her she got what she deserved but now my dog was shaking. Waited another 30 minutes for the vaccine will NEVER go back. The vet woman should lose her job. Nurse was very sweet though.! read more

I took my puppy to get checked for a lump on his leg after being injected. They denied to give us service unless i ratted out the people i got my puppy from because they are NOT BREEDER FRIENDLY. All they did was JUDGE TF OUT OF MY PUPPY. DID NOT CARE TO EVEN LOOK AT HIM. WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE HIM HIS SHOTS , THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH ME BECAUSE I DID NOT GIVE OUT SOMEONE ELSES PERSONAL INFORMATION. I went for 1 thing which was my puppy because he needed medication for the inflammation on his leg. All they care about here is money and problems. Racist ass doctor. The staff at VetXpress is fantastic with our extremely difficult rescue dog. They are so patient and kind and hopefully, one day, Brownie won't try to eat them alive. Dr. Sanwald is friendly and gentle, despite our terrified dog and is so understanding of her fearful behavior. The nurses and staff are all excellent as well. Their PetDesk app makes it very easy to keep up with appointments and necessary procedures and their prices are not unreasonable. The office and exam rooms are always clean and pleasant. The vet was excellent my problem is financial. Twelve years ago we signed up with this business because they provided a "Vaccines for life" deal. Now the new owners aren't recognizing the "Vaccines for life" program. I feel we should have been Grandfathered in with the new owners. We will be changing our vet now due to this. read more

A really great experience here on a Sunday as a walk in patient. The receptionists were exceptionally nice and the vet team was top notch for our two month old newly adopted kitten with a URI. The prognosis was great and they didn't make me feel like an alarmist for bringing her in on a Sunday. I got lucky and only waited 45 minutes to be seen and was completely done in an hour and a half. I've stuck it out with vetXpress because we are preparing for a PCS, and I didn't want to get established at another location. HOWEVER, I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone! I took my dog in for a mass on his elbow, after taking samples, it took over 2 weeks to get the results. And that is after I had to contact the location. Every time someone says they will call back, I never hear from them. They always say that they were too busy or had to close early (this is usually several days past when I was told I would receive a call). Well, now I am 12 days past my dog's surgery to have said mass removed, and yet again... I have not received a call. I had inquired the day after his surgery about an issue with the incision site and was assured I would receive a phone call by the end of the business day.. nothing. 12 days later and he still has the stitches and no follow up appointment. I just called and was again told that I would receive a phone call by the end of the day. I'm not holding my breath on this one. read more

They were pretty unorganized when it came to filling my pets meds. I got a reminder about an appointment at 9am, and when I got there the clinic was closed. I waited 30 minutes and still nothing. I have to say I was about DONE DEALING with Vet EXpress until I finally spoke to someone that has some knowledge of my frustrations. I have 2 Labs that have had EAR issues their WHOLE LIFE. age 12 now. Thousands of dollars and a 1700.00 surgery last year. DR. Jennifer Henderson and her Assistant NIKKI are the VERY BEST! I took my old girl in again for same ole issue... could not see Dr. Henderson seen Justin somebody and was highly unsatisfied. Never got to speak to vet was handed meds and bill and my dog with no explanation no nothing. Then they called me back 4 hours later telling me they undercharged me by 3.06 REALLY. LONG story after 2 weeks of back and forth with them that the meds are not working. I come in and talk to NIKKI! She explained that they do not have the med I need. So she went online and found it for me I paid and she even called to explain that it is on its way to my house. Be prepared to wait hours. We had to walk out today, but whenever we take one of our fur babies it's an all day thing.

We first went here due to an emergency with one of our cats. That visit was great (4/1). It was downhill after that. After all the testing we found out he was diabetic. They stated his numbers were in the high 700's. They did not test in front of us so we trusted them. No reason at this point not to. They scheduled a return visit to perform a Glousus Curve. We dropped him off at 8 am. During the day a young girl called to give an update on him. During this conversation, she stated, that we had not started doing anything we were told because nothing had changed with our pet. If we were not going to make these changes we would create more health risks and kill him. Great. I'm getting an idea of what type of people we are dealing with. At people when I asked about his readings I was told they were still high & to increase his insulin. I learned later I should be asking What Exactly those readings Are Per Number. We return 4 weeks later for another curve. This time I asked for those numbers. I was told they weren't in his file and that the doctor wasn't in, but she would have him call me. (Not his file from the day before when you were Sticking him???) It was Friday, No call on Monday. On Tuesday I called - the same reply basically - he was in a room & would call me - 4 hrs later I called. Nothing they kept sending me to voice after answering.. Wednesday I call twice again. A repeat of Tuesday. So I sent an email requesting his records and we are going to another Real Vet. I received Part of them & parts from another client but Still no numbers for his last visit, strangely his first visit his recorded with one set of numbers & times on 4/18, but on 5/8 (he wasn't there) different numbers & times. His Highest number was 601 according to Them, but the High 700's??? Proof this group has no business handing anyone. read more

f I could give this place a negative 10 I would. I took my pug to Vet Xpress because he had been bitten by a snake. He was dropped off in the morning and we were told to pick him up around 3 pm. My husband picked him up and the vet NEVER came to speak to him, instead sending his tech. She read from the instructions on the discharge papers which said they gave him antibiotics, fluids, and steroids and that he would be just fine. Around 330pm I noticed that his breathing was labored and I rushed him to the emergency vet on Cary street. When I got there they said that he was in critical condition. 10 minutes later he was dead. This vet is a hack. He didn't even notice that he had not one but 3 snake bites. This guy should not be allowed to practice veterinary medicine and is totally responsible for his death. read more

I came here on Saturday when my dog was not doing well and I couldn't get her into her normal vet. The vet here assured me my dog was going to be okay. However my dog died not even 8 hours later after being assured that she would be okay. She couldn't stand up, walk, eat, or drink. I was charged $180 for my dog to pass away. My first visit was to get Sir Thomas some medical attention for his leg. He'd injured it while we were playing fetch and after a few days wasn't showing improvement so it was time to get him examined. Because he's just moved in, we needed to find a vet nearby who could see to him quickly. VetXpress was chosen for its relative closeness and hours that worked for both my and my fiancee's schedules. Upon entry, we were greeted in a friendly manner and seen almost immediately, which was excellent considering we didn't have an appointment. One dog came in after us and was seen before us, but she had an appointment so that doesn't count. The staff took a quick check of him and contacted his previous vet for his information which they had within a few minutes. The vet himself was careful in his examination of the bad leg and had me assist with keeping ST still. A couple of times he said, "Hold him firmly but not enough to hurt him." That sat well with me because a dog I had as a kid went to a vet who would really bear down on the animal during the examination even before it had a chance to act good or bad. After it was all done, Dr. Ereio took the time to fully explain what he thought the problem was and what could be done to fix it. He discouraged surgery as probably unnecessary. That was really good because if he'd said that thousands of dollars worth of surgery was needed I'd have gone for it. Instead, he gave a prescription for pain killers and anti-inflammatories, an in-depth article about the injury to explain more fully what the diagnosis meant, and a description of what to expect and the approximate length of time for healing. I did ask for a follow up in a week so my fiancee could also be there, but that was my request and not his recommendation. While there, I also picked up some Revolution parasticide which was slightly high, but only by a little. All in all, it was a good visit and I would recommend this vet for their hours, location, service, and care. Cost is a little harder to judge, but I didn't find their prices unreasonable. Another nice thing was that they actually called Sir Thomas by his name and not something like "Tommy" which a lot of people will do. It's a small thing, but it does indicate an attention to detail which is very positive for medical services. read more

The whole staff was kind and the veterinarian on staff, Dr Sanwald, was sure to discuss not only the issue we came in with, but my cats overall wellness and what a long term plan can be moving forward! I called ahead and they made me an appointment right away for 10 a.m. That morning, the staff and the veterinarian were extremely professional and caring. After living in this area for a long time I find them to be one of the best veterinary clinics in the area. They take care of you quickly and try to keep costs down so everyone can afford to take care of their pets. Everyone at the clinic had an exceptional work ethic, and they called days later to make sure that my loved pet and myself were doing better. I highly recommend this clinic. After an initial first visit to the vetXpress in Colonial Heights, we were impressed with the courtesy of the staff and the seemingly genuine care for our dog. We were a bit sticker shocked, however, when the bill came. The vet tech/salesperson rushed through all the "recommendations" without explaining that they were separate charges. So an initial dog visit with shots cost us almost $200! Soon after we left our dog started getting sick and we were wondering what had happened; when I called back the following week, the lady who answered the phone (she said her name was Maria) was extremely rude, belligerent, condescending and obnoxious. She refused to transfer me to someone who could help me and actually mocked me. When I told her that, as a new client who just spent $200 at her clinic, I didn't appreciate her lack of customer service. She then offered to "call the owner herself" and arrange a speaker-phone conference/argument! I found the lack of professionalism, customer support and show of any concern for my dog's health to be shocking. There are too many other great places in the area to waste my money and time getting yelled at by vetXpress. read more

This practice changed hands and has since gone way down hill. The practice showed a lack of competence for my sick dog, botched 2 surgeries and she ended up having to go to an Emergency vet after each surgery, where another surgery was performed successful. While this clinic might be good for basic check ups and vaccines. There was a clear lack of honest and ability to performance the procedure. read more
