As with all programs like this there are good employees and not so good. The main problem however…read moreis the administration, namely the director, Norma Summers. I had a client with her for over a year and I noticed all kinds of issues like his room being dirty, clean clothing not being put up, the guys being left in front of the TV for hours with the curtains closed and sitting in the dark. It was past client choice, it was laziness on the part of the employees in that house. This last year things got worse when they were short handed. My client didn't get the walks in the park and other outings he used to get. Then things got crazy and all of it was Norma. The doctor prescribed a medication that he had been on for years, she had okayed asking for it, then when they did not and I did, she stated they were refusing to administer it and then turned around and said that she told me before they can't administer it due to DDA rules. DDA rules do not prevent this, they require paperwork on the part of the program, lesser alternatives to be tried, and consent. The last two were done, their part was not. I filed a report with Adult Protective Services. I started looking for a new placement. Then the house they were renting was going to be sold so the guys would have to move. I asked two questions in an email to her, 1. Was the deposit already paid, and 2. If my client did not stay in the program a year would he be on the hook for the entire year. She blew up in an email, stated they were kicking him out in ten days, and if I didn't come get him in ten days they would abandon him at Harrison Hospital. For those of you who don't know, a ten day notice is only for emergency situations when physical safety is a concern, not this case, my client is super passive, not aggressive at all. This was clearly a reaction to my APS report and also to my questioning the lease and her possible assumption I was moving him. I had been told by another professional that she has a hx of kicking people out if she finds out they are looking elsewhere. I contacted his casemanager at DDA, the supervisor there got involved, over the course of a week she refused to reconsider when I asked, she relented at the pressure of DDA to a thirty day notice, and then said how much they care about him and want him to stay to that supervisor. I moved him anyway, crazy behavior that was harmful to my client. I reported this behavior to APS also. Moved my client. Then she filed a complaint with the state about me, stating I bullied them trying to get them to give them a medication (that she claims they can't give yet I have documents on their letterhead showing he has been on it for years and DDA does not prevent them administering it) and that I used the word "stupid" in an email in the past. I did use that word but not to describe a person, but a decision (the medication thing.) The program is run by what I consider a tyrant with a screw loose. Keep your loved ones away.

I find there is no good bedside manner. We saw Margaret Lowe today in Port Orchard, and what a doozy. Loud, shrill, and annoying. I tried talking with her about vaccines and she kept talking over me, giving me basic scripted information, and basically scoffed at me when I showed my concern. We are absolutely another brick in the wall at this establishment, and I'll be on the look out for a more compassionate facility.

Fewer MD doctors are here than when Barbra Malich ran the place. Many good drs are long gone. You cannot call the front desk of your clinic, your call gets diverted to a que that is a long wait. The calls are answered in Bremerton even for clinics far away from Bremerton. So the staff that used to know you and whatever situation they are dealing with at their site cannot be the ones determining the patient flow. It is literally out of their hands. The best receptionists are gone.... Long waits to see a dr. No one helps you to get referrals made. The great receptionist teams they once had are replaced by a phone bank situation of sorts centralized into one location. And a computer takes the first call. Most of the medical care is given by PAs and ARNPs now. There is no choice. The two drs in Port Orchard atm are too arrogant and closed to listen to patients even if the complaints or of new or worsening conditions, especially if their cases are complex and serious and require more careful monitoring. Visits are limited to just one complaint, and less than 5 minutes. The doctors do not listen or examine patients throughly enough it seems to me and I am not the only patient reporting this. The reputation of PCHS has declined because of the way things are run on the medical side at PCHS. I will say the dental services are much better than the.medical services PCHS offers. I am leaving the medical part, because I have found a much better doctor elsewhere that truly cares about and addresses my complicated case needs. I feel unsafe being a medical patient here with this doctor as my pcp. My life feels jeopardized by her lack of action. All this is my observations as a patient who regrets choosing to try PCHS medical services once again.
