My godfather is a veteran as was both of my grandfathers and my father. I came with my godparents to the Sunday morning pancake spectacular ! I actually rarely eat pancakes but this is a whole thing just was told by my godparents..... so I went big ! I had blackberry AND chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and poached eggs ! Oh yum !!! My friend asked us to join as their guest for dinner. They go most every Friday night. Pro tip: it's cash only. But, they do have an ATM nearby if needed. While I was there I found out, that due to my dads and my grandpas service I qualify for membership as an auxiliary member. The bar was well stocked, with members only pricing. The beer was cold. The food was solid. And the company was amazing. This was a good night spent with good friend, who all had the same values. There is something special about the VFW. The work they do for those who have served and continue to serve our country, makes my heart full. read more

My husband and I recently purchased a home and have made Ramona our home. A few.months back we decided to have dinner at the VFW. It was steak night! Not really knowing what to expect since the meal is on $20 per person. My husband and I were.both blown away! Best steak dinner I've had in SD. Just a heads up. We have been really impressed by the VFW's weekend take-out meals. All have been yummy and so far our favorite was the turkey dinner with all the fixin's. The line was long, it took a long time, but once those dinners were in my car the amazing aromas won me over! My husband and I are extremely disappointed at our first experience here. We recently moved to Ramona and still exploring it. As USMC Veterans, we were excited to support the cause and have their Pancake Breakfast on Sunday. As I entered, I was stared down including the waitress and we stood there for 5 min with the impression that I had to wait to be seated. After 5 min with no one approaching us, we decided to sit down at an empty table. The waitress saw us a few times and did not acknowledge us. It's a small town so I'm assuming it was known that we were first timers. After 25 min waiting, a nice gentleman next to us filled us in on what we needed to do in order to get service. As I went up to the bar to pay a ticket, I was told they ran out of breakfast, which is fine. Overall we felt unwelcome and again it's very disappointing because as veterans, we support each other, I guess this wasn't the case for us. read more

I was planning a trip to Ramona for the Ramona Bluegrass Festival. I googled American Legion in Ramona and VFW popped up. I knew that in some small towns both organizations share the same building. I called, Kelly answered the phone. I asked if members of American Legion were welcome. She said yes well except you here. I asked what they had going on . She said the had dinner and Karaoke and invited me to visit. I already had dinner plans so I came for Karaoke. I ordered a drink and I was sitting alone and a couple at the bar invited me to join them. I did. For some reason the KJ was more interested in a beautiful young blonde than he was at running the Karaoke Show. Some of the customers reminded him it was Karaoke night. So he got back to it and we all had a good time. The couple I sat with told me that Saturday they had a Rib dinner. So after the Bluegrass Festival I went back. Again I sat by myself and again a group invited me to join them. We had a great evening of conversation. The meal included a salad, red skinned potatoes, corn a dinner roll, a cupcake, and pork ribs that fell off the bone with only a fork. They were firm not mushy. Very good tasting. I would have liked just a little more BBQ sauce. But they were actually fine without. During the evening I was told about Opperation Flap Jack to be held on the next Saturday. It's put on by the American Legion, the group I was trying to find in the first place. This VFW Post was a really friendly group. The barmaid (I didn't catch her name) introduced me to a man named George, a nice fellow who in turn introduced me to the commander of the post, Alexis. She was a nice friendly welcoming person. I will deffinately visit again. I'd recommend this establishment to Members of VFW or American Legion . read more

My family and I enjoyed a TERRIFIC Prime Rib dinner at Post 3783 and had a GREAT time without alcohol. Very, very friendly people, great food, a good place to have a good time. People are friendly (mostly), Great food, ambiance, and it's not all about drinking. Never say that you like veterans better than civilians, then they (she) makes the bartenders card you each time.
