I would strongly encourage anyone who is seeking a vasectomy to seriously reconsider. Do your…read moreresearch and fully understand that what you will hear from this practice is a misleading representation of stats and outcomes regarding the risks of this seemingly common procedure. I waited over two years to post this review as I know I can't change my decision, but perhaps I can help others learn from my research. I had a vasectomy done in late 2018 and months later started developing Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome, a condition I was not even aware existed until after the procedure was done. At first these guys were great, they ordered ultrasounds, made time to hear my concerns but once the pain continued and no obvious answers were found, I was referred out for pain management and that was that. Two years later am still experiencing ongoing daily pain that will likely be lifelong despite a reversal earlier this year. I was willing to pay the premium price tag for the individualized attention of the practice, but if you are part of the 15% of men who develop any longterm complications from the procedure--you are on your own because they'll act like PVPS doesn't exist. Welcome to Hell. PVPS affects upward of 15% of men according to a 2016 study. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4854072/) The consequences are lifelong and very difficult to pinpoint. Their consent form is a laughably thin single page document which cites the possibility of some post-operative pain and complication, but PVPS and lifelong pain is mentioned exactly zero times. These guys are great salesmen. You walk in thinking, "It's simple, quick, effective, and has no impact on anything other than fertility and this is white glove service. False. Nowhere does it mention the well documented possibility of PVPS which has been known for decades. Had I been presented with true outcome risks and a true understanding of the longterm impact I would have walked out the door, and you should too. As Warren Buffett famously said, "Never ask a barber if you need a haircut" and never let a urologist sell you on a vasectomy.

I'm told that National Harbor is still in the midst of setting up and that is why I needed to come here. What is interesting about this location is that it is in a well established office/medical building that kind of makes you feel like you are in an actual hospital. I showed up and did my check in and had to wait a bit. To note: I stopped here during the Halloween season and they were directed for such. It wasn't very calming to my anxiety to see decorations stating the area I was about to go into for my follow up said it was 'contaminated' and having zombie arms reaching out to you. With my anxiety in high gear I am called back and walked through the maze to the room where I will be seen. Vitals taken, and instructions given to me quickly. I knew I was there to have a stint removed and to be given the instruction quickly, having never done this before, baffled me. I stood there stunned and had to ask for the instructions again. Given the instructions again I proceed to get ready and positioned for the tech to come back in. Tech comes in, and I have to hand it to her, she is good at distraction. Not sure how many of you out there have ever had anything done in the undercarriage area of your body, but everything they do in that area catches you by surprise. As I am, uh, being prepped, the tech is talking and explaining to me that I am going to be numbed. Her distraction technique was simple, keep talking as if you are gong to do it and then do it a few seconds later. I was in mid-answer when, wham-bam, inserted and numbed. I don't think I even finished my answer. Laying there, naked from the waste down (covered, mind you), feelin more vulnerable than I have ever been in my life. Being inserted into and numbed, in walks the doctor. With my head swimming, the doctor walks me through what is about to happen next. Anxiously I nod my head yes after he finishes and asks if I understand allowing for him to proceed. Continually coaching me to breathe through it all. Mind you, there is a monitor in the room that allows for the doctor to see where he is inside you and also allows for you to watch as well. Now, to have another object inserted into an exit hole while being able to watch it like it's a Netflix documentary is a surreal experience. When it reaches the spot where this thing has been sitting inside you for about a month at that point and you see a claw expand from the end, grab a hold the this thing, and the doctor tells you to take a deep breath...WOW! I never felt anything like that in my life, even with the undercarriage being numbed. The doctor was pleased with the stint coming out without any problems. Pleased with the procedure he tells me I won't need antibiotics, it may feel funny to me for a bit in the undercarriage area, and that I should be back to normal in about a day or two. All after declaring, "It's a boy" after the extraction. The one thing I didn't care much for here was the customer service from the front desk. It was like I was intruding to those member of the staff. I filled out my paperwork, paid my copay, and sat and waited to go back. Then, weeks later I get a bill in the mail for my copay, which I clearly paid while there. I have received several statements now at home stating I have not paid. When I go onto the website and sign into their portal, type in the statement number, I am told I have no balance due. I would gladly pay the $10, but I'm not sending it via the mail when your website clearly has registered I already paid in office. I can't wait for them to attempt to send me to collections for that $10 I already paid in person.

Visiting the office, one would think some great plague or natural catastrophe has occurred, because crowds of people have so filled the office that a line extends down the hall and even to the stairwell. You can't sit inside to wait because of the bodies and the awful heat. The staff, embattled, have a station model set up to deal with clearly thousands of patients, quadruple booked every 15 minutes. I was forcefully told to arrive 15 minutes early. I was seen 1.5 hours late. The doctor came in, glanced at me, and the visit was over in under 5 minutes. Cannot speak poorly enough of every facet of this clinic. They're barely skating the lines of ethics and requirements to bill insurance for the 20 visits they book per hour- barely.

Charlotte G Houston, MD…read more Towards the end of 2025 my primary care provider recommended that I consult with a urologist to address my nocturia. At 70 years old it's probably not surprising that such a consultation would be called for. She recommended that I seek guidance and treatment from Charlotte G Houston, MD. This was an excellent recommendation. Dr. Houston is a board-certified urologist providing comprehensive urologic care to adult patients of all genders in the DC Metro area and Northern Virginia. She specializes in minimally invasive treatments and robotic surgery, with expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for kidney and prostate cancer, focusing on optimizing functional outcomes and minimizing patient discomfort. Dr. Houston also treats a wide range of urologic conditions, including kidney stones, recurrent UTIs, urinary incontinence, and erectile dysfunction, and performs procedures such as circumcisions and vasectomies. I learned about Dr. Houston's medical practice from an online seminar sponsored by Virginia Hospital Center (VHC). The seminar provided information about a range of treatment options. In addition to her expertise in cancer care, Dr. Houston offers a variety of treatment options for enlarged prostate, including Urolift, Rezum, Transurethral Resection (TURP), Gprostatest Photovaporization, Aquablation, Holmium Laser Enucleation (HoLEP), and simple prostatectomy. At our initial meeting at Dr. Houston's office in Alexandria, she performed two screening examinations, neither of which required sedation. After she reviewed the results of the screening, we talked about what my goals were - in this case dealing with my nocturia. She explained the drawbacks and benefits of a number of options. From this and based on her insight and experience, I selected ablation using water (aquablation) to clear obstructive prostate tissue from the urethra. The aquablation procedure was painless and required little recovery time. It was effective - instead of waking up three to five times each night to urinate, the procedure resulted in reducing that number to one or two times each night - a major improvement. All things considered, choosing Dr. Houston was a smart move. She was an outstanding educator, and her surgical work was perfect.

And you can not believe it, I got there at 10:15 PM, and until 1:30 AM, no doctor has come to check on her, no one , just the nurse came to ask a few questions and left. And I don't know how long I have to wait. I will update the time when the doctor arrives below. It is really frustrating, because my baby is just 3 weeks old.And she is in pain, she hungry. And no doctor has time to pay attention to your baby. It is really frustrating when your baby is lying there and you can't do anything.
