I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. I had a great experience. Everyone was friendly the entire time they had my bike. They cleaned the carb and changed the clutch. It runs like a brand new bike. They did an amazing job. They stayed right around the price they quoted and charged much less than other shops. The carb cleaning alone was half the price of some other quotes I got. It's almost like I got a carb clean and a free clutch going with them instead of other shops. It's was their mistake treating me that way because I have 10 motorcycles and could have done a lot of business with them. My loss... because I didn't even love that bike. In the end, Vicious Cycle properly diagnosed it, did the repairs for a fair price, and then I promptly sold the bike real cheap with no guilty conscience because it was running great! Critical: Professionalism I brought my finaces gsxr 1000 there which starts and just has a tick sound like a chain tensioner and ive had nothing but problems with them. They spent about 2 minutes on it and decided they didn't want to work on it. Then told me they would and collected 350.00 dollars for a deposit. Then called me 10 minutes later saying they don't want to because its going to take to much time even though I am the person paying them to fix it. This is my 3rd time using them and have had nothing but issues. Don't waste your time. These people wasted a month of my time when I could have taken it somewhere that isn't going to pass something up because it wasn't easy for them. Moneys money. BE AWARE!! Vicious Cycle has very reasonable pricing, but will not be accountable if mistakes were made. I really dont like doing this, but there is a serious problem here! Tuesday May 16th I dropped off my 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 600 to replace both front and back tires with Dunlop Q3 tires that I bought from someone. On Wednesday May 17th they went to work on my bike. They swapped out the tires and balanced them for $75 a tire installed on the bike.. They did call while the bike was apart to recommended that I replace my front left brakes pads because when they took the caliper off they noticed a caliper bolt was missing. And because of that missing bolt my front left brakes were waring at an angle.. They actually hung up on me when I declined that they replace the pads on that front left caliper because they wanted $100 to do it.. I explained to the gentleman that called that I can buy all three sets of pads; front left, front right, and rear for $25 and do it myself, as I have done several times in past (brakes are very simple). Later that day they texted me to inform me they were done. I came down and paid them for the new caliper bolt, a valve stem and for balancing and mounting the tires. But while riding it home I began to notice that my bike's brakes were rubbing and grabbing. So when I got home I started searching to find out why it just now started grabbing. And I found that they forgot to reinstall the top brake pad retaining pin and left the bottom one very loose and about to fall out.. Right when I saw that I called them and texted them a picture showing the missing and loose pin, and they said replacing the pads would make the rubbing and grabbing go away. They also told me to drive back over there and they'll give me a pin to replace the missing one.. Insinuating that they found one in a "box", and it wasn't mine that was missing.. Even though that caliper retaining pin is a particular part to only K4-K5 GSXR's. I bought some new brake pads and began to install them myself. I replaced the front right caliper brake pads with ease and without a single problem. Now, compressing the caliper pistons on that front left caliper to replace the pads was a different story. Three of the pistons went down with ease, but one piston just would not go down. Now, I'm hoping it was an accident and was not intentional on their part.. Like I said when I got home I saw that their mechanic had forgotten to put one of the brake caliper retaining pins back in and left the other one very loose and about to fall out.. As result of the missing and loose pin, one piston seized on that left caliper. It indeed was the front left brakes that were rubbing and grabbing on the way home because of that seized piston. I told them my bike did not have any issues before I dropped it off with them. And they knew that with absolute certainty because they had to push it around the shop, and it wasn't grabbing then. I honestly didn't think or expect I'd need to inspect all of the parts their mechanic touched, and actually make sure every single bolt and nut was in and tight. All I wanted was the tires replaced. I trusted them, so I rode it home. Since then, I have tried calling and had already texted with them with pictures showing the empty hole where the pin should be and the other one hanging out. I've spent the last couple weeks hoping they would try to fix their mistake or atleast make an attempt to make it right. Instead they say "our mechanic says he definitely tightened the pins with a t-handle allen wrench", continuing to blame it on the "wonky" worn brake pads. If that were remotely true, how could both pins have vibrated out on a slow 20 mile ride to my home?. My right caliper's pins and bolts didn't vibrate loose, nor did anything else come loose. They had a very loyal customer here. But they don't want to be honest, nor take responsibility for their mistake. So I was left having to pay for their mistake. I ended up having to buy a whole new K4-K5 front left brake caliper used from eBay. If anything changes in the future I will update this review and let you all know what happens. read more

I was charged for things that were not needed done! Brought my 2003 Honda shadow in for would not start. I told them that the turn signal switch was bad when I dropped off the bike, but it has nothing to due with a starting problem. They charge me 165.00 TECH time 110.00 pr/hr. When I picked up the bike they told me it needed a starter switch and turn signal switch. I replaced the start switch and left the old turn signal on the bike. It started right up when I pressed the start button/with the old turn signal switch. Why would they tell me it was bad, when it has nothing to due with start problems? To get more TECH time ha.... Just picked up my 1994 Honda ST1100. They replaced the rear brake and took care of an electrical/tail light problem I've had on this bike for well over a year. I'm taking my 2013 Suzuki WeeStrom (VStrom) to them in the near future to install new tires and to scrutinize this entire bike from front to back just to make sure there isn't anything that I haven't already taken care of/repaired/replaced. When I got my first bike, a Suzuki Boulevard, Vicious became my maintenance go to. At that time the shop was in NoPo on Interstate Ave. Joe, the owner was kit the least expensive, but neither was he the most expensive, and he is a no BS kind of guy. He never sugar coated anything, and he never tried to upset me. He didn't ever discount or play games he just did good, solid work. When I switched to a vintage Goldwing, he told me he wouldn't work on it. I had to find another shop. I found cheaper wrenches, but I never found better or more honest wrenches. When I got my Dream bike, a Triumph Thunderbird, I got tired of the run arounds and upsales at the dealership so I went back to Joe. Normally, he saves me a bunch of money. His hourly rate is not as high. And he still doesn't upsell me while warning me what is in my future. I know that some maintenance items are dealer specific. So, I still go there when I have to, but my first choice is to go to Joe and the Vicious team. They continue to treat me well. read more

My experience is consistent with other highly deserved 5-star reviews. Friendly, speedy, thorough, and very fairly priced. I have a 1990 Yamaha XT600, which is not only officially vintage, but a little out of the mainstream technically. I'd been turned down by one other independent, and the dealer - whose mechanics would be younger than this bike - would have to crack their service manuals to work on it. So I decided to give these guys a try for an oil change and spring inspection. Upon arrival, I spotted other bikes related to mine in the showroom and the shop, and they greeted mine like a long-lost relative. Already I felt I would be in good hands. Two working days later, everything that I asked for was done, and more. I couldn't be happier. It would be overstating it to call a 29-year-old bike 'like new,' but it is very definitely 'greatly improved.' In addition to the basic service, they found several things the bike's previous owner had neglected/bodged, and fixed them for what I consider a very fair price. As just one example, the front brake action was stiff and grabby. I thought perhaps the caliper might need to be rebuilt. If they'd said yes, I'd have had them rebuild it, without hesitation, given its age. But it turned out all it was was a mis-routed speedo cable. 15 minutes and a $1.50 clip, and the brake action is now exactly what I would expect. When is the next service due? "Come back in 3,000 miles or the end of the season, whichever comes first." I most definitely will. This shop is recommended without reservation or hesitation. read more

While I've always known they were the experts when it comes to vintage bikes, I recently had them do some work to my 2013 triumph 675R. The bike had 2 seasons of track days with only tires and oil changes for maintenance-she wasn't happy. I told them to take as long as they need and do whatever they would do to their own bikes. They took about a week (insane quick for an early spring drop off!) and now the bike feels better than it has the entire time I've had it. The bill was also under what i was anticipating, always a great surprise! Bring them your bike and do whatever they recommend and you will be fine. I called up Vicious Cycle last night asking if they'd be able to squeeze me in or if they'd accept a walk-in for a basic service (oil change, chain, etc.). The woman on the phone was courteous and polite, and she said they can usually do walk-ins in the morning. She did stress the fact that the services can pile up so I should arrive early so I can be there -right- at opening time. I got there about 5 minutes prior to opening the next morning. The gate was open, as was the shop door. I parked and waited near the gate as 10:00 rolled around, then I waited near the front door. I stood outside for about 15 minutes and saw one employee walk out of the shop, then walk back in. Didn't acknowledge me there, but he did have time to look at my bike parked outside the gate for a few seconds. I knocked on the door after that 15 minutes and heard some activity in the building, nothing that was too loud that they wouldn't have heard me, either. I stood outside til 10:20, then left. I took my '83 Honda GL650 in for work on several occasions, and every time they did good quality work. My bike needed engine seals and fork seals replaced, fork overhaul and brake bleed. I ended up selling that bike to a guy in FL, and the VC staff inspected the bike for that buyer. The bike needed to be prepped so that it could be put into a crate and transported to FL via freight. The VC crew took care of all of that work for nominal fee. The buyer was super happy with the turnout, and I was really satisfied with the overall experience. I had never done anything like that before, and the VC crew helped me out a lot. Next time I own a moto, I won't hesitate to use their services again. read more

I typically don't rely to much on yelp reviews when making decisions as opinions are subjective, but before you attempt give this shop your business I highly recommend you read the reviews. My experience was inline with every negative review for the business to the letter. To have nine 1 star reviews out of a total 17 reviews, it would almost seem as though you are actively attempting to upset people. The website would lead you to believe that you are able to bring your bike to the shop for service without an appointment. Do not do this as it is highly likely you will be turned away. Also be prepared to be met with a very condescending borderline combative attitude. Statements like "I don't think you understand what I'm saying" when dealing with potential clients or customers is not a good way to break the ice. I have several bikes on various cycles of maintenance and purchase aftermarket or replacement parts on a regular almost weekly basis. I've used vicious cycle twice now. Once about a year ago and now just a couple days ago. The first time I had a nail through my tire that punctured the tube. They advised me to save myself some money and bring in just the wheel. They sold me a new tire, tube, recycled my old tire and put on and balanced the new one for a good price and in the time they said they would. This time I helped my girlfriend buy her first bike from Craigslist that we knew would need new tires. Brought the wheels off the bike with the new tires to vicious cycle and same story recycled the old tires put the new ones on and balanced them for what they said it would cost and fast too. read more

My husband called to ask for a quote for a problem with his bike. He explained the scenario and the guy on the phone told him he's never heard of this before. He asked to make an appointment and he explained that they don't do appointments and that his bike would sit there until they could get to it. My husband was transferred to someone (seemed to be the manager), and explained what was going on with his bike and if he has heard of this problem before. The guy said "NO that's why he would need to work on it!" Sounded like he was having a bad day. My husband was concerned about the cost and he said he wanted to call the day before and bring it in. He politely said he doesn't understand why he can't make an appointment. The man said "Well sounds like this isn't the shop for you!" And hung up the phone. Very disrespectful. I don't appreciate this kind of degrading demeanor to people who are willing to spend money there. What kind of a company does that to its customers? To make matters worse, my husband ended up going to the Yamaha dealership. They were kind to him and didn't agree with Vicious Cycle's attitude. They looked at his bike and told him it was a simple setting that needed to be turned on the bike and walked him through it. Vicious Cycle was trying to make a profit by spending time diagnosing a simple problem on my husbands bike. And hanging up on customers? Mind you they charge $90 an hour and who knows how much time they actually spend time working on the bikes!!! Do not waste your time here. Is there an option for zero stars?? I recently had some service completed on one of my bikes done here. Overpriced, but I was ok with that due to it being in close proximity to my home and I like to support small businesses. After I received the part back and installed it on my moto, I had some issues with it that was related to to service being performed. I returned to the shop promptly a few days later and was polite about the situation. The lady at the front directed me to some some guy from the back. He checked the part out that I brought in and was like man I don't know what to tell you, we didn't create this issue. I asked what may have caused this and what might you be able to do for me? As I wasn't having this problem before I dropped it off. He started getting defensive and turned into a shithead real fast. After some back and forth arguing that wasn't going anywhere, I had enough and said I'm going elsewhere to get my bike fixed. I was blown away after spending a couple hundred dollars with these guys and then getting this treatment like it was my fault. All I wanted was a little help and decent customer service. Instead I got the exact opposite. I'm not hear to bitch, more so to create awareness. Like they say, "it takes 20 years to build a reputation and 5 minutes to ruin it". I was really excited about this place. When I got there most everyone was pretty nice. I had a rear tire with a nail patched. Reasonable prices. When I picked up the bike, they said the front tire was low at 17psi. I explained that I had checked and topped up the air in the front and rear two days prior and set them to 32 psi. Joe replied that maybe their tire pressure gauge wasn't very good. (I was shocked they were saying this to a customer!) A day later I went for a ride, but since they had commented on the low front, I checked my tire pressures before hand and found the front and rear set to 40psi! Yamaha specs say 32 and 34 front and rear. There was a couple small but noticeable scuffing/scratches on my pristine wheels from their work, not a huuuge deal, but not the level of work I did when I was an auto tech. And the front valve stem was all cracked (not sure if it was them or just luck, but it's only 2015 bike and aside from them, I'm the only person who has worked on the bike and I never noticed it before). I went and asked them about these things and Joe became SUPER defensive and a little argumentative. I was calm just looking for clarification and he wouldn't let me finish many of my sentences. Having been an auto tech and shop manager for 6 years, I know there are ways to handle this situation and salvage your customer base. He did everything wrong. Even going as far as saying they set most all bikes to 40 psi, when I asked about this. That is enough to never return. A simple, "sorry, that's what we normally do, but I'd be happy to set them to Yamaha's specs" would have gone a long way. But simply defending that you just willy-nilly aired up my tires 25% more than Yamaha specs and not having any reason is kinda crazy; and then saying you do that to most peoples bikes. :/ The only nice thing was Dustin, I think that was his name. I don't know how this is a "great little shop". Went into this shop just to ask a few questions about the build I was doing on my GS750. I came here because I thought they would have some knowledge being that they deal with vintage bikes. When I started talking with the lady up front I was already getting attitude, she was acting like her sitting there drinking her fucking coffee was the most important thing in the world. My question was about the twin caliper setup I was in the middle of doing on my GS. I had Superhawk rotors that were drilled out wrong and was asking if a GSXR rotor would work. That"s it nothing crazy. I figured Vicious Cycle might have an answer because I'm pretty sure they've done similar swaps. So the answer I got from her was "yeah we've done those swaps and our guys make sure to do a lot of research before doing a swap" which really pissed me off because guess what bitch I do a lot of research myself too before starting projects. My forks are GS1000 with ZX750 calipers and superhawk rotors. Made custom brackets for the calipers and everything. So don't talk down to me like I don't know what I am talking about. I had that one simple question wondering if GSXR rotors would work because you know what it is nice sometimes talking to local companies that deal with vintage bikes instead of having my face glued to a damn computer screen. In conclusion FUCK YOU Vicious Cycle. I guess you only give the time of day to people buying your over priced complete bikes or having service repair. This shop is completely unreliable and unprofessional. I was interested in purchasing a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 750 that was on consignment at the shop. Let me just say right now, I feel sorry for the owner of the bike. My first actual contact was replying by phone to a Craigslist ad that has the bike advertising for $5500, so I called and asked to speak to the internet manager or a sales representative to make a cash offer, the lady that answered the phone after I explained my intentions explained to me that she didn't have time to deal with me and that someone eventually would get back to me, that never happened... A few days later my friend and I drove from Vancouver to the shop to purchase the bike and once again make an offer, after being neglected for 10 or 15 minutes we finally got some face time with Joe about the bike, it was dusty, slightly greasy, but overall a pretty nice bike, definitely not show room material as they have neglected it. So we left to think about it and upon returning they avoided us like the plague, I think I even heard them whispering about us in the back room. Long story short, after being avoided for about 20 minutes we walked out. I wanted the bike, had the money and was treated very poorly, if you want to buy a bike or purchase parts and accessories for your motorcycle you should do business with motorsport Hillsboro because they're professional or just buy off Craigslist!
