Omg Interstate all battery was awesome I have to tell you this was hands-down the greatest customer service I went last night about 30 minutes before closing there was another customer before me and my battery went out right when I got there at that time there was only one customer service rep that was working and his name is Jim Jim was very very nice and very very helpful he did everything possible to make sure I got my battery installed and replaced. they usually close at 7 o'clock and he stayed after work and he installed my battery. He didn't rush nor did he give me attitude or was he cranky because he had to stay after work he took his time making sure that his work and installation was perfect and he also tested my alternator and he discovered that there was something wrong! He also noticed that the bolts on my alternator was not tightened or had some bolts missing and just speaking with him and the way that he made me feel comfortable and not guilty for keeping him an hour after work even when his family was there to go to dinner with him I felt bad so I gave them a $40 tip so that he could Take them to go eat dinner but mostly for his extra great services! If you ever have any need for a new battery, go to interstate battery hopefully when Jim is there! Tell Him Jennifer with the Kia sent ya! Oh and there Is a 20% discount when checking in but REMEMBER IT WORKS FOR ALL PURCHASES IN STORE BUT NOT THE BATTERY! So don't go there thinking the discount works for battery purchase. Divine Providence! I rarely leave Yelp reviews. In fact I think this may be the second review I've ever made. Before today I've never heard of this business, but I'm already a fan and will happily promote it. I pulled into this outdoor plaza to have lunch with a friend. I forgot to turn off my lights and by the time I turned on my car the battery was dead. I didn't have jumper cables and started looking around for the first person who passed me to see if they could give me a jump. He didn't have any but he told me there was a battery shop a few stores down that could probably give me a jump. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Paul, who was very helpful. I didn't know until later he is also the manager. I told him my battery was dead and needed a jump and he told me he'd be happy to help. I'd also been wanting to take a look at the health of the battery for some time so I asked him if there was a way to check that out. He told me there was but that the device they lease to check batteries was just stolen by a shoplifter two days ago! Paul gave me a jump and noticed I had the wrong size battery, which may in fact be causing the problems I've been experiencing. He mentioned that if I needed to change the battery they'd be happy to do it and quoted me the exact price. Although he was not pushy and was very helpful and informed me of what he recommends I do either on my own or somewhere else if I don't work with them. Paul was genuinely helpful and I trusted that he wasn't trying to sell me or get one over on me that I figured I might as well get the battery swapped out right on the spot. He immediately went to work and over delivered by providing above and beyond service. The old battery was a mess and he cleaned it all up nicely while explaining to me along the way what he was doing. From the time I realized I had a dead battery to walking around to find this store, getting a jump, and the deciding to swap out the battery and getting it cleaned up and installed took a total of about 20 minutes. I highly recommend this business! And if you run into Paul, he will definitely take care of you. He certainly knows his craft! I asked if Interstate All Battery Center delivered. They do. They were about to close, but if I needed the battery tonight, they could do that. I said I could wait until morning. The battery in my SUV is old and as a preventative measure I decided I needed to get a new one instead of waiting for it to die. First price wise: I am a regular for AutoZone and O'Reilly. I checked prices. Although they do have a variety of battery price points Interstate's battery with 2 year replacement and 5 year prorate was about $15 cheaper than the equivalent battery at O'Reilly. I have heard good things about Interstate battery's customer service so sought out their store. I recently learned they are a popular small business person franchise so figure it is a good way to support smaller local business people. I am very glad I happened to come into here. The store is located basically in the shopping center. A surprise because I thought it would be an automotive repair shop of some sort. The store has a HUGE variety of batteries from cell phones and hearing aids to heavy duty Marine batteries. First off, the guy at the counter, Paul was a very pleasant and extremely helpful guy. I knew basically what I needed. He pointed it out and the price as I mentioned was below O'Reilly's battery price. It got better though. There was a military discount and Paul asked if I had a smart phone. Online there was a promotion for a further discount. I found it but it needed to be printed. Paul printed the coupon from his computer for me for 20% off!! That was absolutely awesome! I ended up getting the battery for just under $90 dollars, about $30 off from original price and hugely discounted from what I first started with O'Reilly. I was incredibly appreciative and impressed with Paul's enthusiasm to help and get me the discount. It kills me when I go into places and find out after an order they had an easy discount but the clerk wasn't proactive with informing or helping me. Now the, some icing on the cake. Paul installed the battery for me. I am totally capable and willing to put in my own battery and would likely have done so had I bought it elsewhere like Oreilly. Turns out Interstate has this gadget that plugs into your car before the battery is removed to keep your radio and other setting powered when the battery is changed. Very nice perk. Always a pain in the ass to have reset radio settings, time, menu options, mileage calculator etc. Paul went on to put some anti corrosive paint on the terminals and informed me that if I see the paint on the battery holder chip or erode be sure to brush and paint it as it can corrode and cause problems. Paul seems to thing my battery should last well beyond the 5 years barring any sort of major issue. I will certainly seek out Interstate battery stores again, and if I am still in Portland when the time comes I will DEFINITELY be going back to this store. Also, I can't say enough about Paul. He had a very high sense of urgency in helping me out. I almost told him to calm down he was so worked up helping me. It was a brief interaction but a very good one. Talk about a life saver. Dennis the manager of the center returned my call on NEW YEARS EVE after hours! Unfortunately both the family mini van and my Caddy went down and there are 4 babies in the house and one needed to go to the ER-well a family friend took the little one to the ER and Dennis promised to bring me a new battery to MY HOUSE NEW YEARS DAY! 10;00a.m. Dennis arrived with the top of the line cranking battery for my Caddy at less than the cost of a cheap line battery, installed it and had me on my way in no time! As a grandmother with 4 grandbabies ranging in age of 10, 5, 3, and 2 months I have to have a battery that will crank come hell or high water. My brother drives an 18 wheeler in Chicago and has to be home every night told me NOT to get a Die Hard but an Interstate battery. I was determined to do just that and I'm so blessed to have called the Washington St. store and spoke with Dennis. I was so moved by his kindness because other wise it would have been a lot more of a struggle to get somewhere to get a battery.
