The artist demonstrated zero training in color theory for olive skin tones, applying a foundation that was completely mismatched, pale, and gray/ashy. When the mismatch was brought to her attention on-site, she first refused to acknowledge it and then couldn't correct it, causing me to miss the scheduled professional photography windows.When I contacted the salon owner later with clear, side-by-side photographic evidence comparing their work to a correct shade match from a prior event / artist, the owner attempted to blame our timeline and completely stopped responding. They will gladly accept high-paying South Asian event bookings but lack the skills, product kits, and customer service to back it up. If you have olive skin, do not risk your major events here. Uploading this is uncomfortable because it does not represent how I look, but I am sharing it to ensure no other South Asian woman goes through this. Because that's what you get if you just bleach your hair. Suzy understands what my Korean hair needs. And I come home admiring my hair so much ("omg how the heck did she do this? My hair can do this?") I change it up a lot: I went from just lighter on the tips, to pink, to full blonde, then went dark and let my virgin hair grow out, then yesterday I missed having blonde hair. She is the most kind, patient, smart & wise person I know. Yes it was long, yes I needed a trim but the color that I initially got all those months ago didn't fade into that weird brassy orange color. My Asian sisters cursed/blessed with a Asian hair will fully understand this statement. Anyway, I can prepared with a few different colors that I liked and showed Suzy and immediately she got to work. Understanding my daily chaos, she understood my need for something with a low upkeep, yet still look great. My balayage took about 6 hours to complete, she really takes her time to be super intricate and thoughtful with each hand painted foil. And all the while my hair was getting done we had such great conversations, never awkward or forced, she did whatever she could to ensure that I was comfortable and made the hours fly by quickly. I just absolutely love love her work and I could not be happier with my hair. One thing to know about Suzy is that a busy woman. But even with all that is going on she makes time to squeeze in her people, so when I got a lucky break and secured a sitter last minute I took a shot in the dark and messaged her via IG to see if she had an opening (spoiler alert she is super responsive) and she somehow made it work. She came in on her day off for me. Tears, I love her.
