My experience with Dr. Higa was extremely disappointing and negligent. During a period when I…read morerapidly lost weight and couldn't eat for months, and she dismissed me. I repeatedly asked for an MRI, SIBO breath test, any help in finding answers. She delayed treatment, and instead prescribing multiple mostly over the counter medications (very high doses of prilosec, miralax, gasx...) that made my condition worse. I continued to decline until I went to the ER twice, had severe tachycardia, lost income from work, and another doctor finally diagnosed me with severe SIBO and a hernia. Throughout this time, I received almost no communication--no responses to multiple messages or calls--and her staff would only offer appointments six months out based on her approval, which never came. As a long-time patient, it felt like she had checked out of caring for my health. I later learned from a second opinion that the colonoscopies she recommended for me weren't medically necessary every other year. Every TEN years was sufficient! My primary care doctor, who knows her personally, even told me she was nearing retirement and seemed "checked out," and that other patients had gone through similar experiences. From my perspective, it often felt like financial priorities were put ahead of my actual care. Based on what I went through, I believe her management of my case was deeply irresponsible. If I had the resources, I would strongly consider pursuing a formal complaint. I won't return and deeply regret recommending her to others. A terrible excuse for a so called doctor, and an embarrassment to the human race.

After multiple medical errors over the years by other doctors, that many doctors refused to properly document, she took the effort to review my records and provide the most accurate medical record that I have had since the first error in 2010- proving to be the most ethical doctor I have ever interacted with. It takes a special person to stand up against the flow in medical systems. She is that type of person. The type that would stand up and say that is wrong. Ethical enough not to work for system that were no aligned with her ethical integrity. A very rare find. She even found the root cause of the of the issues that were missed for years along with doing a very thorough GI work up-greatly improving symptoms and lessening risk damaging other organs. Noting that I have been going to a Functional Medicine GI doctor and did not have such a thorough GI work up. I wish her the best and hope that everything is ok with her. We are not sure why she ended up closing her practice, I hope everything is good, but rating her closing her practice is not rating her as the excellent doctor she is. I started seeing Dr. Michaud last year after my former FNP (and awful GI doc) ignored some serious symptoms. She has a great bedside manner, is smart, proactive, and thinks outside of the box. She even came up with possible diagnoses other specialists missed. Although we never figured out the cause, she took EVERYTHING I told her VERY seriously. As a veteran patient, I cannot count how many doctors downplay or ignore serious symptoms. Dr. Michaud not only does the opposite of those doctors but should also teach other doctors how to take their patients' concerns seriously. I was able to get in the following week after scheduling as a new patient and never had difficulty getting appointments. Her receptionist, Annabelle, and her MA, Rachel are friendly and helpful. I wish I found her sooner and had more time to be her patient. Thanks Dr. Michaud for listening to me and helping me as well as serving as an example for the care I hope to provide my patients as a family physician one day!

I have taken my kid to at least a dozen GI doctors and most were either inexperienced or dismissive. Dr. Jeiven figured out his problem on day one. She is thorough and gives a substantial amount of time to the patient. She asks the right kind of questions and makes recommendations quickly and her office gets the ball rolling--no wait and no anxiety. If you are worried about your kid's GI issues and have been frustrated with the unavailability of elite doctors at Sutter or Stanford and LPCH, don't wait-- get your kiddos to see Dr. Jeiven and you will be happy that you did that. I do not understand why the Bay Area has so many overworked and unavailable pediatric specialty doctors who do not care about the urgency of their patients' issues. Dr. Jeiven is not at all like that. While I am sure she's super busy too! But once you make an appointment, she gives her 100% attention to solve the problem. To compare, my kid's pediatrician has always accommodated same day appointments. I've asked him how he's able to do this and it's quite simple. Scheduling and the amount of hours he puts in. The staff here is good at telling people to call their Urgent Care. That's where the money maker is. These doctors don't have to work 40 hours or more or have a quota of patients to see a week. They get paid regardless. There's no reason for them to work longer days and accommodate their current patients. Saving the best for last. Was suffering from major pains and asked Dr for recommendation. Staff called back and said Dr isn't able to provide any because she hasn't seen me in almost 4 years. I laughed so hard.
