Had the absolute best time at Blake's with my family! There's so much for kids to do--giant…read moretrampolines, bounce houses, multiple playgrounds, a petting zoo, and more. The food options were great, and the strawberry donuts are absolutely worth the trip. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the sign for the strawberry-picking wagon ride said the last ride was at 6:30 p.m., but it actually stopped running at 6:00 p.m. Unfortunately, my family missed out on what we were most excited about. Other than that, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back.

I attended this year's Sunflower Festival and could not believe a ticket just to get in was $14 and did not include sunflowers! The $14 fee is to walk through several rows of vendors selling things you get to see for free at plenty of local farmers' markets and fall festivals. You need to pay extra to pick sunflowers. I didn't buy it but I think the slushie with whipped cream topped with a donut was around $12, which is absolutely nuts. None of the drinks here are that large. Some years ago I went to the haunted house. I remember that the haunted house didn't take too long to walk through. It's always fun to go to pretty much any cider mill in the state in the fall, Blake's is no exception. My point is that there are many other more authentic less commercialized cider mills in the area that are worth visiting and where you get more bang for your buck.

We were pleasantly surprised that Rochester Cider Mill was not incredibly busy like others in the area. We were able to actually enjoy our cider mill experience. Plenty of parking out front. The petting farm is to the right and the giant straw pyramid is to the left. When we were there, there was a barbecue food truck. Outside had tons of pumpkins to buy. Inside has that old charm to it with the building. Rows of different apples for purchase. Along with little pumpkins and gourds. Pies and other treats. But donuts and cider are the main event. Interesting how they have different flavored cider, depending on when you visit. Their cider and donuts are very good. Nice pillowy soft doughnut that is a better size portion than other donuts in the area. The cider has a nice flavor to it and not overly sweet. Staff are amazing! Working very hard and very friendly. Picnic tables were spread throughout the property. Some picnic tables were in the shade and others were not. Didn't get attacked by too many angry wasps. The petting zoo is unique since you can enter the enclosure with the animals (just not the chickens or turkey area). But sheep and goats were roaming around with you. The straw pyramid was very fun and a bonus tunnel in the middle for your kiddo to go through. Would definitely come back when wanting a cider and donut type of Sunday.

I don't always drink tea, but when I do, you bet it's only loose leaf! I wish I'd known about this…read moreplace sooner because it's not only close to home, but absolutely fabulous. I found them a few weeks ago when I did a search of stores who actually sell loose leaf tea. The reason I like loose leaf tea versus the garbage sold in the stores is because it comes out way more flavorful, stronger and seems to taste a lot better than the stuff they sell at the grocery. I am also shocked that nobody else has been here before, as I know a few tea drinker who also happen to be active yelpers. Interesting. Anyway, the place is easy to find and right off fourth street and visible from the road. There is street parking, but a parking garage is literally right there on the other side of the street if you need it. As you know, downtown Rochester can get busy at times, so easy places to park is important. Walking in, not only is this place a tea store, but it also sells spices. They also have a ton of cool accessories to choose from throughout, which was really super cool to look at. I've also been on the hunt for the individual honey sticks that seem to be hard to find. Not only do they have the honey sticks, but they came in a variety of flavors? Like flavored honey? Exciting! I just grabbed a packet of regular honey sticks which are sitting in my kitchen now. The spice area has a much larger selection of items, from different varieties of salt, but other seasonings as well. I didn't really study the selection as the place was busy but let me tell you, there's a lot! I went to the tea section and they have all sorts of teas to choose from. I wanted something more citrus/lemon/herbal since I have a sinus infection, but I also wanted to see what else they have. Great selection, pre bagged but make sure you have the steeper's at home. If not, they sell them here too. Service was great, and the staff was knowledgeable. Nobody asked me if I needed help or followed me around the store, but when I did talk to them at check out, these people really seem to be tea oriented and educated on the product. While they aren't cheap by any stretch of the imagination (more along the lines of Starbucks pricing) they are worth every penny. I will be back in the future and I wish they did a better job of advertising!
