I've driven by here like a million times, but finally stopped in when we had out-of-town guests to treat them to a Michigan classic. I picked up pasties to go (which were a huge hit) but even more impressive was the kindness and helpfulness of the man at the counter. I think you're supposed to pretty much grab what you want from the coolers for a to-go order, but I just walked in and asked for my beef pasties to go. Before he went to put those together for me, he asked what my favorite breakfast meat was. He threw in a breakfast pastie too (hubs said it was great, but he would recommend the sausage instead of the bacon I asked for). Since I had my young son with me, the gentleman also offered us some cookie samples - yay!! We'll definitely be back. The pasties were delish, and the service was above and beyond. read more

RETURN VISIT: I went and got the Bacon Cheeseburger pasty. Soooo good! Especially with the cheese sauce on top! We've always driven by several Uncle Peter's Pasties locations in the last few years, but never stopped...until yesterday - finally! My wife was greeted throughout the entire visit with exceptional customer service as it was our first time ever trying pasties (despite being Michiganders our whole lives!). I was originally worried that I wouldn't like them because they had a lot of extra vegetables listed (onions, carrots, rutabagas) as being a part of the pasty, but you can't taste them one bit (and I'm extremely picky). Don't worry about this at all! I got the chicken pasty and it came with a small side of poultry gravy on the house (since it was our first time). It definitely made me think I was eating a chicken pot pie wrapped inside a pocket. There wasn't an outstanding flavor attached to the pasty, but it was good. I'd like to try their Cheeseburger pasty before making my final decision on their pasties. Great service, good food, we'll be back. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday when they were supposed to be closed. I saw the door propped open, so we poked our heads in to ask if they were open. They said no but they could make us something if we wanted. You just don't get this kind of service anymore. The owner and his wife took care of our requests personally, and honestly he was so friendly I was taken aback. Everything was outstanding. They have absolutely traditional pasties and some that are not so traditional, but all are the best in this area. I have become accustomed to more meat than usual in my pasties so I usually order extra meat. Do yourself a favor and visit this place today. read more

Don't be swayed by the lonely sign that simply says Pasties. Uncle Peter makes his name for having a large variety of pasties, but he doesn't really need all of them. His simple beef pasty is good in The Pasty Guy's book. Plus, you get free cookie samples at this location. Had a hot beef pasty and that was much better than a frozen chicken pasty, so if you can, just get one of the hot ones. The crust is good, the meat is good, it's all good. One of the best pasty shops in the Lower Peninsula. Don't pass by without giving a try. read more

I have not had anything from Uncle Peter's that was not delicious. I have had their loaded baked potato soup, the broccoli and cheese soup and the beef barely soup, all have been delicious!!! Had a great first experience... I wish I would have caught his name but the guy behind the counter was so helpful after I told him it was my first time in. Even got cookie samples and complimentary gravy. My beef pepper jack was a pretty solid choice, he even told me it was the staff favorite. I want to go back and try the bacon cheeseburger. I figured I take a flyer on it...... Awesome find! Great, flaky & tender pasties served up by friendly people who understand quality..... Hidden little gem! The staff is so accommodating. We called 30 minutes before close to see if they still had items in stock, and even though I'm sure they were anxious to get out of there, the staff started heating up and preparing our order while we were still on the phone. The pasties are incredible (as many others have said), but I have dreams about their chicken soup. They sell it fresh or frozen (which they will heat up for you). It is wonderful - full of flavor and full of noodles, veggies, and chicken. It is my go to when I'm sick, and it was the perfect comfort when it was cool and rainy last weekend. read more

So we were up in Michigan and had never had a pastie. Our nephew, who is a local, recommended this establishment. I have to say it was much better than I expected. I would even say they were absolutely wonderful. We had a beef and a buffalo and they were both delicious. I didn't have a clue that there are so many variations of pasties. SO good. so so so so good. I wish I had gone with triple an appetite so I could've ordered and eaten more. The pasties are homemade with top quality ingredients, the variety is so delectable! (they had beef, chicken, venison, elk, buffalo, lamb, turkey, spinach & feta, spinach, broccoli, and more!!!). Most of the varieties are available frozen to bake at home, but there are select few available right on the spot. I tried a beef pastie and was SOOOOO happy with it. The crust is amazing but not too dense or too filling, the beef stuffing was so soft and moist, loved the onions. there are also apple dumpings that he warms up and serves with a warm caramel sauce. SO good... a full baked apple inside. I want to go back and buy 2 of each frozen to stash in my freezer!! also the owner was so friendly. We walked in and were quickly greater by a super sweet women who gave us a tour of the cooler and what they were all about ( antibiotic free). Plenty of variety here for everyone. You can choose from fresh out of the oven, refrigerated, frozen. Depends when ya plan to eat it. Choose from beef, chicken, turkey, buffalo, breakfast variety, and many more. New to the area. Went to uncle peters for the first time last weekend due to reviews. The potatoes in the beef pasties were raw and the pasties lacked flavor. Very disappointing. Will drive to Barbs in Clawson in the future. Best Pasties around. read more

So, a coworker and I were talking about pasties and found out another coworker had never even heard of them. So we had to find a good pasty. So when I was heading back from D-A scout ranch, I saw this sign for pasties and I thought to try it. Now I've had some awesome pasties in da UP eh, but had not found a single pasty in detroit area worth wiping my butt with. So I was weary and the kind lady behind the counter assured me that I would love it. I just finished the cold pasty and it took me back to staring at the sunrise in Paradise, hiking Picture Rocks and fishing on Superior. I would say it was either the 2nd or 3rd best pasty I've had. I'm tempted to head back for another today and try it hot out of the oven instead of at work. read more

Excellent pasties! Perfect on a cold day or after skiing. These aren't wimpy pie dough with a little filling -- the crust that isn't sweet dough and there is a ton of filling with meat, potatoes, probably rutabega, and other things that make it delicious. My favorite is beef which has a lot of flavor but isn't at all spicy. We always keep some breakfast ones on hand for the teenage boys. We like to stop in for hot food and always get some frozen ones for later. The cookies and soups are great, too! read more
