DO NOT CONSIDER them, especially if you are new to the area. I'm a new guy here, but I can tell you that after my 22+ years traveling the world in the Army, Victors Lawns is the worst small business I've ever dealt with. They are not competent and they lack integrity. Heard this from others afterwords. My neighbor won't use them now after seeing what I went through. Referring to Victor, Dawn, and the Crew Lead. The guys doing the work are just doing their job. When they screw up they will never own up to it. Instead, they will turn it on you, as if it was your fault they screwed up. They are quick to lie to your face as well. For a roughly 22"x22.5 perfect rectangle, it took 4 trips over 2 months for them to figure it out, but still failed. Roughly half gravel/half sod. Not hard. I should have not trusted "experts" to properly measure a yard. However, they are VERY accurate on their estimate (to the penny!), regardless of any changes, they will not budge, even after they screw up. I got an estimate of $4,496.63, and they gave my neighbor an estimate of ~$1.6k while working on my yard. Integrity- The crew lead shut the screen door covering the dog door while I wasn't home. No issue. However, they didn't open it up when they left. My dog wrecked the inside of the house and I'm on a 10-hour shift. Dawn (at the office) blamed me that I wasn't there and the dog is my responsibility. Duh. My dog doesn't bother anyone, he's too scared...he's covered. No apologies from them. Incompetent- can't measure. Off by 2 feet with the sod. I put in my own pavers just so my dog wouldn't dig the borders. The crew lead told me they didn't have enough and they'd fix it the next week. Three weeks later, they came to put in a piece of dead sod. Attached. No apologies from Dawn or Victor. They don't call, answer calls, or return calls. I visited their office during their office hours and Dawn was only there 33% of the time. They were mad I complained about their incompetence and trapping my dog in the house all day. I even gave them a free ladder. Maybe Victor, Dawn, and the crew lead only help out people that have been here a while or are friends. read more

I called Victors to mow our grass because I had had a heart attack and had to restrict my activities. A couple days later Victor came out and said he would send a proposal. A week or so later I received the proposal which was ungodly high but since it was now early September I thought I 'd be better off just using them rather than trying to find someone else. So, since the grass needed cut and things were moving so slowly, I went to their office to get it all finalized. At the office they said they also had a $125 administrative fee (on top of the ungodly high proposal) to set up a contract, so the total was more than I had on me and they wouldn't take a credit card. I took it all back home (Pojoaque) and mailed them a check. Then I waited. It took them a month from my initial call to finally show up and mow my grass, which was now very high. By this point my doctor had released me from physical restrictions, so due to Victors poor response and exorbitant fees, I called their office to cancel the contract. Two week written notice is required to cancel the contract, but when I called and requested cancellation, Stephanie finally said OK. She did not say that she still needed it in writing, so I thought that when she said OK that meant that we were OK. Later when I got their invoice, they had charged me for the whole month. I can mow, weed-eat and leaf-blow the entire yard in an hour (and I'm 72). They charged me $425 plus tax for one mowing. Victors is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I noticed that they responded to customer complaints by saying they were being smeared. The truth is they get these complaints because their customer service sucks. read more

I guess they have enough business in this down economy. Tried 3 times to get someone to come to my home to give an estimate for reviving a lawn and monthly maintenance. They were a no-show for the first appointment. I called and the lady who answered had a very lame excuse. Set another appointment, and that was a no-show too. If this is the way they treat prospective clients, no thanks. My recommendation is to go somewhere else. read more

We have lived in Pojoaque and Los Alamos for 35 years! Victor's Lawn is the most unprofessional business we have dealt with. They took our deposit to cut a tree under the condition that we would be notified ahead of time. We needed to let our remote-working tenant know when the work would be done, needed to be present at the time of work, and wanted to notify the neighbor over whose property the tree hung. After weeks of waiting for them to start work, and numerous communications to reiterate our need to be present, they sent one man, unannounced at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. This job was a two-person 6-hour job! We refused their service and asked them to return when they could provide us with a firm date. Victor's Lawn said it would cost "at least another $100" to be informed of a date and time! We requested but they refused to return our deposit. After receiving a certified letter from us they returned half of our deposit. As of this writing, the case is being investigated by the NM Attorney General's office and we intend to proceed to small claims court if we don't receive return of the rest of our deposit very soon. We have never experienced a business who was hired to work on our property but refused to say when they would do the work (and actually insisted that we "need not be present"). We understand that people are busy and cannot specify date/time when the work is several weeks off. But, as the schedule firms up, the business should be able to commit to a date and a time when work will commence. read more

Excellent service. Emailed Victor's and was contacted the next day. Schedule an appointment for an estimate. The day after my estimate I received an invoice regarding the amount it would cost. While I was pending the work to be done our neighbor asked if the scope of work could be modified. Victor's was willing to do a new estimate and we were able to keep our spot on the work list. Victor's prices are very very reasonable. I would highly recommend Victor's Lawn if you are needing tree trimming and removal. Very professional and easily accommodate your request. So if you have some yard work that needs to be done try Victor's. It doesn't cost anything to receive an estimate and they go over what work will need to be done. read more

Please don't work with this guy or company. They are taking advantage of a remote location where there are not much options available. My experience with them is very frustrating and did not work at all. They are not very supportive of their customer. Their initial response was prompt with Victor showing up the next day and gives estimate for the project. But as soon as they found the work is not substantial, Victor and Dawn Marie (probably Victor's wife) started playing games. Kept sending me email invoices with inaccurate work orders. It went on back and forth for 3 weeks. I repeatedly called them to clear any confusion but RELIED on them to finally fix my sprinkler so my grass can survive. Finally, when it was settled, all I requested was to give me 24 hours advance notice so I can be there to explain better where my sprinkler system components were located. Dawn Marie did not like it and started behaving unprofessionally over the phone, claiming that no exact time can be given. She hung up on me saying they can't work for my lawn. I am perfectly OK to have someone working in my backyard while I am not present, but only when I have some established trust and satisfaction with their earlier business with me. This was the first business with them, and I expected them to respect my request. However, after some talking, when Dawn Marie just hung up on my and cancelled the job order, my and my lawn grass just wasted 4 weeks of time. This is how they are behaving with the local resident in a small community yet expect to make money from this community. Hired Victor's to complete spring yard clean-up on a 120 foot by 20 foot section of yard that has lawn, wildflowers's, weeds, and 2 pine trees. This did not include any pruning or yard mowing. After only a few hours raking up debris and taking it to the trash, they left the area mostly cleaned-up, but charged over $300 on the task! Not recommended; missing are affordability, value and actual satisfaction. Have not used since. read more
