I was surprised to learn that this business is stationed at his home. Nothing wrong with that. Like I said, I was just surprised. Diven is a professional. Although I've had much faster transactions of firearms through other storefronts, I very much appreciate that he is thorough with his work and pays close attention to details. He asks a lot of questions, but again he check and double-checks everything. I asked him a handful of questions too and he was always good about responding to me with accurate information. I've noticed that other reviews here mention his English - look: While English clearly isn't his first language, the guy speaks well enough to understand. And in the case where there is uncertainty, I can see the gears in his head moving to choose different words to be more clear. I applaud him for this. I purchased my firearm through an online vendor and did the rest of the process through him. I hate COVID. Super annoying. But, Diven complied with every single CDC rule and regulation to continue operating his business. Again, a real professional. I found other FFL's that charge less than him. I'd say that is my only "complaint." But really, I have nothing bad to say about this guy and his business. I will definitely be doing business with him again. read more

Well, my situation was bit different than most other people. In the end, I did not purchased firearm from Diven due to some other reasons (u will know when u finish reading this comment). But I still want to write a 5 star rating for Diven. I came across Diven when I searched gun shop on yelp and he has pretty good reviews. I am a total newbie on buying firearm, so I have ton of questions of buying firearm online, FFL dealer transfer and all other basic questions. We had some brief conversations over text for some basic question. We later had a phone call to explain all the question I have. And he even offer me to look for a gun I really want but hard to find (due to covid). However, he told me he won't be able to process my request until mid July because covid and backlogs. He suggest me to look for other dealer who is still operating. What an honest and great guy! Because of timing, I end up picking another dealer. But I am very impressed by Diven. I know I am gonna have a second gun soon in the future and I will come to Diven next time. read more

I just purchased a handgun thru Victory Firearms Sunnyvale and the process went very smoothly. Diven was very professional and very meticulous, making sure all the paperwork was done correctly. He was very patient, explained the whole process and answered all my questions very clearly. He also administered the official FSC (Firearms safety certificate) test at his location and issued me the certificate after passing the test. He thoroughly went thru all the handgun safety and operations functions also using snap caps (dummy rounds) where relevant, when the firearm arrived and repeated them again when I picked up the firearm after the 10-day waiting period, and also followed up with questions I had after the purchase. Remember your first time buying? Yeah, I didnt want to be looked at funny either at the gun stores, but found Victory Firearms was a private FFL after I called Diven. His business was listed as FFL that I could choose from. After speaking to him for 5-10mins, he explained the initial purchasing process and all the fees of the transfer and the DROS. He also made a good point that during this Social Distancing, going to the big stores, customers gotta wake up super early to stand in line for however long for "first come, first serve" basis, whereas his business is by direct appointment within his business hours up to 6pm. I'll cut straight to the major points: - If you are in a rush to purchase, dont bother Devin. He wants to run an honest business, but also has his personal life. He's definitely WILLING to cooperate with your schedule, but just dont rush. I was in NO RUSH but felt that if anyone else was, they'd be upset. So be warned - He follows Covid Precautions very well. He protects his customers, but hes also gotta protect his house and family. He will have shoe covers for you and alcohol for your hands. - Be early or be on time! I agree with him that promptness is important in his business, especially if another appt is closely following the previous. - Bring all appropriate paperwork! No brainer! - Be patient with the paperwork. Hes very meticulous and incredibly careful with the forms we gotta fill out, i.e. pen used has to be same pen (I brought my own because of Covid), although both was black ink, he says the ink thickness has to be the same? I wont argue or deny his process; again hes processing DOJ ppwk and I too want a smooth process. Make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's properly! So anyone with poor penmanship, save yourselves and just go pay higher transfer fees at the gun stores. - When making appointments, just know he will NOT CUT CORNERS for you. He wants to abide strictly to DOJ guidelines. You cant blame him. So a 10 day wait is truly 240 hours - not 236. Delivery of your firearm has to be after such. ‐ Wish your luck is better than mine because on my initial day to begin my DROS, his internet went down so I had to delay my appt 2 days later. Then, the day of delivery of my firearm, his printer craps out and I had to come back later after he replaced it. With this in mind, hes got a new modem and printer because of me, so you shouldn't run into these issues LOL Overall, Both internet and printer were out of his control. Not much I could do besides wait while he tries to expedite and remedy. He was attentive to the issues and did what he could. Otherwise, everything went smooth and hes highly informative and helpful. I think if I had gone with an actual public business as FFL, I'd be in long lines and get pushed around; I wouldnt get such one-on-one service as Devin provided. If the opportunity to go through Devin again arises, I'd go through him again. At least I'd know what to expect. read more

Haha. Just read John C's review and can commiserate. I used Victory for an online transfer last year and did not have a good transfer. I went with him because he wasn't too far and at the time, had a 5 star rating. Well, I just purchased a gun from The Sportsman Guide and was perusing Yelp for an FFL when I saw Victory lost it's perfect score. I wanted to see why and saw JC's post and was cracking up because I know what he was talking about. The guy working there talks like he is mad but I'm not sure if he actually is. The good thing is that I didn't get a scolding from him like JC claims he got. hahah. I mean, who yells at a customer?? But yea, guy has some weird OCD control freak issues. E.g. I wrote the date XX/XX/17, but he said I had to write XX/XX/2017 so he tore up the form and we started over. It was also annoying that even though I had an appointment, I ended up waiting for a long time because he was working on another transfer. Well I got my laugh reading the 1 star review and agree with it. Needless to say I moved on and went with another FFL as I too would never go back there. Very pleased with the experience of purchasing a handgun through Victory Firearms. As a first time buyer I was a little bit apprehensive but everything went perfect. Prior to purchasing the firearm I contacted Diven to make sure I could ship the gun to his shop, official FFL. I just finished the FFL transfer and picked up my springfield 1911 TRP operator. The transfer fee is the lowest one in this area AFAIK. Diven is very professional and knowledgable. I am writing this review for 2 reasons: 1. To tell my very unsatisfactory experience here. 2. To document the incident online incase Diven tries to do anything funny. I went here based off the Yelp reviews, but after looking more closely, i noticed a lot of 1 review zero friend accounts giving this place 5 stars. hmmmm. Oh well, shame on me for not seeing that before. I made 2 visits here, and both times were annoying. I was a little surprised when I got there because Victory Firearms is a dining room table in his house. The first visit is the as you know pre-10-day-waiting period. We schedule a time. I drive 45 minutes away busting my butt to make it there on time only to find out there is another customer there already. So I wait 20 minutes. Ok, no biggie, not the end of the world. We do the paperwork and everything is fine. 10 days are up and I go back. Finishing up the paperwork and Diven tells me "write a hyphen then IO next to your initial." (My middle name in an initial only, thus this amended "IO"). So I write: -IO as instructed. He flips out and gives me attitude asking me why I wrote that, and I throw the attitude back and say I did as he told. In his defense, English is his second language. What he meant to say was quotes and to write it like this: "IO" So I google on my phone "hyphen" and showed it to him telling him it was his fault for this clerical error. I do this for the sole purpose of letting him know that it wasn't my fault for merely following his instructions. Instead of apologizing or clearing up what he meant, he starts yelling at me and threatens to not deliver the gun. HUH?!? WTH is going on? He continues to scold me throughout. I just bite my tongue (believe me, this is hard for me to do) because he is very upset and I am sitting in a private home full of guns and I am sure he is packing on himself as well...so I don't want to give him any excuse to escalate this with a shooting (I have been watching too much news and am now jaded). Plus I don't want to hear him threaten me again and not deliver. ..so I just sit there in silence all the while he is still complaining about my attitude. I was a bit scared because this guy has serious anger issues and has a house full of guns. I leave when we are done, neither of us say bye or shake each other's hand. He calls me 10 minutes later and tells me I need to come back because I did not check a "Am I Hispanic" box...I then unleashed (OK, I admit, this probably wasn't the right thing to do) on him and tell him that I am not coming back and never want to see him again. Now I am worried he might try to jam up my transfer (I dont know how these FFLs work) thus my documenting it here on Yelp...just in case. read more

I found out about Diven's FFL by random search. I contacted him for gun transfers, he always response quick. Finally, I has an SG transferred to his FFL, he notified me as soon as the SG arrived. His place is easy to find, easy parking, quick pick-up process. He charged $70 for long guns, $25 for DROS, and of course CA tax fee. It's decent price in the Bay Area. I hardly ever write reviews but Diven at Victory Firearms has always gone out of his way to help me out anytime I needed it or just had general questions (he's an enthusiast who knows it all). I like supporting all the local shops but in 2020 I have a hard time waiting in line all day and many FFLs are too busy or refusing transfers. I live near many other FFLs but I'm happy to drive down to Victory Firearms (run at his house in Sunnyvale). Let's be honest, the new laws can be tough to keep up with some times (especially in CA) but a lot of FFLs are difficult to work with or have their own arbitrary requirements. In the future I'm just going to stick with Diven because of the quality of service, ease of appointments, and fair prices. He's very responsive over phone, text, or email which I appreciate and most online retailers have his FFL license in their system already which makes orders easy. He really cares about his customers and as long as it's legal (obviously), he will work with you in any way you need or assist you in a search. read more
