Great place to purchase. Everyone was very knowledgeable and expectations are set right away. There is an appointment schedule only for now during Covid if you intend to buy but if you are just buying ammo then you can form a line and purchase. First time fire arm owner and I could not be any less happy with my purchase. I am very happy I found this place to be my first buy as Dan and team made it very comfortable to ask questions and know the processes to finalize bringing my fire arm home. Dude even gave me a free calendar laying around and now I feel much safer at home. Eddy's Shooting Sports was only gun shop that actually carried Nighthawk Korth revolvers. Two other gun shops wouldn't even return my query while Eddy's had the Korth NSX actually in stock. In fact, they had a few Korth revolvers in stock. Greg, the owner, was very helpful and patient showing the Korth plus other items I was interested in. Never felt rushed or pressured in any ways. Great selection...presumably due to their egregious prices (even relative to other shops operating in the same vicinity during the pandemic), prepper-style store layout, and generally hostile shopping experience. Yes, it is difficult to be an FFL during these insane times-but compared to other stores I've worked with who are also undoubtedly dealing with ignorant panic buyers, insane pressure, and general CA DOJ nonsense. I was doing a lot of research looking to buy a gun for both myself and my mother...just for protection because we both lived alone. I went to quite a few places but chose to purchase the guns here. The owner is full of knowledge...as well as his employees. He helped me decide what to get (Smith and Wesson .38 special revolvers). I bought them used and they were in great shape. I have to write this review because I saw the previous one start review which I think is unfair. I purchased my first 2 firearms there 2 weeks back, the whole process is smooth, price is a bit higher than usual but not like crazy high, I'm satisfied just to be able to find what I need in this uncertain times. I tried at least 5 other gun shops and the price is mostly the same. In fact, I don't mind paying them a bit more just to support them so 2A is still feasible in Bay Area, please imagine a day where no gun shops can keep running in Bay Area, with Cal laws getting strict every year, it's probably going to cost $5 per round and you have no place to even spend the money, just take a moment and think about it. read more

My experiences at Eddy's with the "new" management were years ago now, and I'm pretty well sorted out that way so I haven't been there since. With shooting ranges effectively closed (nothing within a reasonable distance from Mountain View anyway) for the duration of the pandemic I don't think that's going to change, though they'll be my first choice if I decide to purchase a specific firearm. Those three (?) rifle purchases went great: I knew what to expect and the interaction was minimal but friendly. Realistically at the end of the day any business is intended to turn a profit, so behavior such as high-maintenance browsing that eats into actual sales is understandably frowned upon. They didn't strike me as expecting to negotiate on prices and I'm not inclined to do that myself, win-win. read more

A few years back, I was looking for Eddy's Sporting Goods where I bought my Benjamin pellet gun and found it had closed down on Castro St. in Mountain View but in my Google search, I found Eddy's Shooting Sports. Stopped by to take a look and as others have said, wasn't 100% sure what I'm getting myself into in such a small and stuffed shop; reminded me of some surplus stores I've been to. I got talking to Greg on how he came about obtaining the Eddy's name. Afterwards, I talked about a sale item that was advertised on the website. He took the time to show me the rifle and felt comfortable handing over my credit card for the purchase. Despite the lack of walking room, it reminded me of some older gun shops in San Francisco back in the 70's. Small mom & pop stores ceased to exist after the 70's and 80's as far as I can remember so in retrospect, getting comfortable just took a little longer for my brain to remind me of the good ole days. Since then, I've purchased two more rifles, one just yesterday. In fact, when I purchased a scope for the rifle, he offered to mount and bore-align it for me... now THAT's customer service!!!! These guys are awesome. I went it yesterday and i was greeted right away, even though it was busy inside. It doesn't take much to say hello and go back to serving the customers who came before me, so that was very well received. The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable about firearms laws, different manufacturers quirks etc. and they were not shy about helping me find parts in my price range. They also didn't make me feel stupid and were not condescending even though I wasn't as concise as i could have been. Being my first AR build, i had a lot of questions, and some of them, i felt, were a bit uneducated on my part. In fact, they were even suggesting that I go back, do some more research and make a list of parts that I wanted to complete my AR build so they could see what they had, where i could cut costs, and who else might have stuff they didn't, so i could stay within my budget. After many years of being out of the gun hobby (I stopped after my father passed away, he was an avid hunter)...I finally ventured back into the world of target shooting. I was weary and intimidated at first, because I had to start all over...and had to take and pass the HSC (which I did, yeah). Greg and his staff were super helpful and super friendly...no mightier than thou attitudes here (as I found out in other gun shops). Rick was awesome and funny...and the young lady (whose name I didn't get) was very knowledgeable as well. The showed me all types of different guns, advising the pros and cons of the various types of guns...which ones had more recoil, expense of ammunition, etc. I decided on a specific model, so after my background check is completed, I'll be picking it up next week...I'm so excited, I can't wait, lol. I live in Oakland, and went all the way to Mountain View, the trip was well worth it...this may be a little store in size, but it has a well stocked inventory, competitive prices, and best of all...a GREAT staff...nuff said. read more

3 reasons to go to Eddy's: 1) Lower prices than anyone in the area on major items. 2) Electronic DROS/4473 forms - just sign away! It does take slightly longer, but well worth it in my opinion, as you don't need to worry about all those tedious questions. 3) Helpful staff - no gunstore FUD here. Just DROS a CA7 here today and was one of the few shops in the Bay Area that had it. It's a small shop but they have a lot of items in there. The gentlemen behind the counter were great and and very friendly. They had a little bit of everything from glocks, CZ, revolvers, AR, Bolt actions, Shotguns. They also buy and sell used guns. He's very knowledgeable and offers very competitive prices, rivaling internet prices. The service at this place is great; nobody acts like a gun snob-which is fantastic. Everything in the store is reasonably priced and I hear they'll even special order things for you if they're not in stock at the store. The only negative I can think of is the store is pretty small. Don't get me wrong, that place is packed full of stuff and the low size probably helps them keep their prices down- so I don't mind it. Yes its not as big and flashy as BAGV, US Firerams or Reeds, but Greg has lots of quality firearms and ammo for reasonable prices. I shoot a *lot* (15 -20,000 rounds a year) and so I resent the know-it-all attitude that I get at some of the other gun shops around the area. This is my go to shop, the place I go for good prices and good selection on everything shooting related. Where the people at the shop are welcoming and know their stuff. I love the old school gun shop feel in this place, there is something magical about it. When you step in, you feel like you are in an armorie shop out of lord of the rings or a RPG with all the wares piled about the store. The feeling as you wade through to search for something unexpectedly cool is awesome, and they have a deals shelf if you pay in cash with great ammo finds. The atmosphere is a bit different than your average gun shop, there are usually a few knowledgeable guys just hanging out and more than ready to share that knowledge with a rookie like myself. Stopped by to buy my first pistol, a Browning Buck Mark 22lr they'd shown me the last time I was by. Real cool bunch at the store. They were already staying open past their listed hours when I showed up (google's listed "open til 9" was incorrect), but were more than courteous and friendly the whole time we were there. Awesome to have such great customer service. Plenty of other gun stores in the area could take a cue from them, particularly in how some of their employees interact with customers. Turns out Greg (son of the original owner) and I have the same birthday, granted about ten years apart. Eddy's is a small shop without the know-it-all attitude that's often associated with gun shops.The friendly atmosphere makes a newbie shooter like me a lot more comfortable with coming into the shop. Parking is ample in front of the store. I've purchased ammo a few times from Eddy's. If they had the exact model I was looking for in stock (or could get them from their distributor), I would've purchased my first handgun from Greg as well.
