They do cash trade-ins day-of-sale unlike most gun shops in the area that only do consignment. They take the time to properly appraise what you bring in, make sure it's legal for sale in California and make sure all the required paperwork is filled out properly. Their prices are generally fair market value from what I've seen considering it's a cash-day-of trade-in. You'll be waiting for maybe an hour at most here to get paid for selling your stuff instead of the weeks that you would with a consignment sale or what passes for a private-party transaction in CA. Could you potentially get more selling privately or putting your stuff on consignment and waiting for it to move instead? Maybe, but their way of doing things avoids a lot of the multiple trips and waiting time that comes with doing either of those other two options instead in California. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have guns you need to sell urgently or if you would just rather not deal with selling on consignment or arranging a private-party sale yourself.

The staff behind the counter are incredibly knowledgeable and more importantly, they're actual shooters with real experience. You can tell right away these guys live the lifestyle and know their gear inside and out, not just random internet keyboard warriors pretending to know what they're talking about. They take the time to answer questions, give honest advice, and make sure you leave confident in your purchase. No pressure, no ego, just solid people who care about their customers and the shooting community. Rare to find a shop with this level of professionalism and authenticity these days. Easily one of the best FFL experiences I've had. Highly recommend supporting this place. I've been coming back since they opened and the service has stayed consistent

With rows and rows of tackle, I am able to find most lake specific lures, weights, bait, hooks, etc. Sometimes I have to go to the store at the lake itself and get even more specific items, but BPS usually has what I need. Whenever I enter the store, the personnel always ask if I need help or direct me to the area where more specific help can be found. Moreover, the store is dog friendly and has dog treats at the ready. Occasionally, BPS will host a Monday club night whereby if you are a BPS club member, you can stand in line to get a light meal and enter a raffle to win items, but I recommend you go early and stand in line or else there will be no more food left.

I used to enjoy shopping at Bass Pro Shops, but my experience with the Bluegreen Vacations…read morerepresentatives inside the store has completely changed my opinion. They approached me and pressured me into listening to their sales pitch, and it felt like "no" was never an acceptable answer. The entire interaction was uncomfortable and extremely pushy. After signing up, I did more research and realized it wasn't a good investment for me, so I canceled months ago. Unfortunately, the unwanted contact hasn't stopped. I continue to receive spam calls, and when I tell them I'm not interested, they often end the call abruptly only to call again a few days later. It's become incredibly frustrating. Bass Pro Shops should reconsider allowing this kind of aggressive sales tactic inside their stores. Customers come to shop, not to feel pressured into vacation ownership presentations or deal with persistent calls long after they've declined. Because of this experience, I no longer plan to shop at Bass Pro Shops. It's disappointing that one partnership has negatively affected what used to be an enjoyable place to visit.

The Gun Exchange is staffed by people who know what they are doing and are willing to share their depth of experience to those who want to build a relationship......just like anywhere else. It is different than your going into BPS nearby and saying that you want a box of ammo for xx. They will ask what you're hunting, what distance you're expecting to shoot, where are you hunting and pick something that will suit you well......IF you've chatted with them as adults and they have a reason to believe that you might be a good guy/gal. I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised that people in the Bay Area might not know the difference between someone going out and shooting and those who join the community of hunters and shooters. Spend some time with the people who know stuff if you'd like to increase the depth of your enjoyment of the sport. Old hunters have seen amazing stuff. You might be able to guess where I stand. Anyway, I came in looking for some ammo. Common ammo. Ammo Big 5 would have, but I like to support local business. So I came here. I come in and there are no customers. This isn't a bad sign to me, it was outside peak hours and the shop is kind of tucked away. Joe is there, and joe is talking to someone. Joe is telling a story to this someone. I see them, they see me, they nod at me. I nod back. I begin to open my mouth, and Joe continues his story, pointedly ignoring me. Hey, that's fine, I'll look around. It's a new store, maybe they have some cool stuff? No, they don't. Castello Gun Shop is a fudd shop. They only stock nonsense calibers from 100 years ago that an ever-dwindling number of people even know about, much less want. See all the people raving about black powder and the midrange knife selection they have. So you're set if you either A, want an average quality knife that I wouldn't expect to last 5 years, or B, have a gun so old fashioned the government doesn't even classify it as a gun. Like I said, an ever-dwindling audience. Also, you'll apparently have to stand around listening to Joe and his friend/coworker/victim talk about nonsense and laugh at parts that weren't identifiable as jokes for 15 minutes. Yes, Joe kept me waiting 15 minutes because he was busy telling some dumb story to someone who dropped a lot of hints that he was ready to leave. I was kind of scared that this was actually the previous customer, and Joe had cast some sort of spell that froze him there, stuck listening to unfunny random nonsense until someone came to break the curse. I hoped it wouldn't transfer to me. When Joe finally deigned to speak with me, it was to confirm that they didn't have any of the calibers of ammo I wanted. That would .223, 5.56mm, .308 Winchester, 7.62x51, 9mm, .38 special, .357 magnum, and .44 magnum. Look, I get not stocking all, but stocking none? What exactly do you sell here? It took all of 30 seconds to confirm Joe didn't have anything I wanted. So yeah, 15 minutes wasted because he's too rude to help a customer at his store. I don't see much reason to come back given every single other store has nicer employees that actually, you know, want customers.
