Pros: 1) Staff are very kind and were very helpful to my son, they all, including the director took the time to really help my son feel comfortable and give him 1:1 attention as needed within their capacity and ability in the class. 2) Flexibility in scheduling is great. If you miss a class, you can easily make up on the next, and they have a lot of different time's and day's to choose from week to week. 3) The processes they have in place are very organized, they send reminder's and update's via email and are very efficient and it's a smoothly run business. Cons: 1) Mainly on flexibility of plans, if you sign on a prepaid plan, there is little flexibility despite you being a previous month to month paid customer. They don't really take into account if you used 1 month or 6 months, if you prepay for a plan, be prepared to have all your money or most of it kept by this business. 2) They didn't return a 150$ cancellation fee, when I requested they do so out of good faith. They did return what I feel is a fraction of what I paid, and I also do not appreciate the director is calling me a liar claiming I wrote false accusations on the business. I am a long time yelper, see my reviews, you will see I have rated many businesses and given 5 stars, I have no desire nor time to spread lies. 3) Classes don't start on time often, and there is too much chatter within the room, with parents and other kids disrupting the class. It feels chaotic and crowded. When I attempted to cancel in person, I was assured someone would follow up -- but no one did. Instead, they continued billing me, even after my daughter stopped attending. My formal in-person cancellation was ignored, and the business has since tried to collect on charges that are both ethically and legally indefensible. Now, instead of resolving the issue, the business is pressuring me to cancel my credit card dispute and demanding an additional $200 just to finalize the cancellation. This is nothing short of coercive and unethical. The management's behavior throughout this process has been combative, dismissive, rude, and completely lacking in professionalism or basic interpersonal skills. Rather than acknowledge their legal obligations, they double down on pressure tactics and attempt to guilt parents into paying for unused services. The business does not disclose the costs involved upfront, so I will show you what I paid. I paid $1,112.03 + $309.26 (which I am currently disputing) for barely two months of actual attendance -- and now they're disputing a cancellation that was fully compliant with California law (Civil Code §1812.84(c)). At this point, I'm only requesting a single chargeback related to my cancellation -- which was not only warranted, but necessary, as I was left with no other recourse. However, if this escalates, I am seriously considering disputing the entire amount as fraudulent, given the deceptive and unlawful conduct involved. I am also actively exploring a class action lawsuit to hold this business accountable and potentially shut down these abusive practices. Based on numerous public reviews, I know I'm not alone in this experience. I would love to see the judge reaction to this behaviour. I forgot to update the review. So I contacted BBB and VMA tried to weasel their way out by saying they were simply following policy and we hadn't given them written notice 30 days in advance. After some back and forth, they attached an email from us that proved we HAD provided written notice more than 3 months ago, while they still were charging us. The class seems to work for some kids esp younger ones(~5 yrs), but not so fun/challenging for older kids 11-12. I told him that I wanted to enroll him in a program where he could go twice a week for about an hour each session. The program for 5 year olds is amazing! My son Noah has been attending the Tigers group for about 6 months and has learned so much! He is very motivated to do better in school and at home. After reading all of the mixed reviews, I'm not sure why some folks think its ok to under estimate Victory Martial Arts. Martial Arts is not "swimming classes" where you sign up your kid for 3 months and be done with it. Martial Arts is a life long lesson that every kid, in my opinion, needs to go through. Kids build respect, confidence, discipline, and honor. Kids these days do not have any of those traits and therefore become bratty adults and think the world owes them something. I signed up my then 4 year old in the 3 day a week program and have seen tremendous change from the way she treats her elders and her peers. I have seen her mature in the class and show respect. The minute she walks in through the doors, she knows that she needs to respect, focus and listen to the instructor. Of course like many kids, attention can be lost, however Mr. Duty is definitely one that puts the kids in check when they do start day dreaming or not listening. For parents to say that kids will lose interest in an activity is an excuse on their part. Any activity requires the parents 100% involvement as it does the kids. When we asked if we could cancel, Ms. Dickenson said it shouldn't be a problem if we provided a Doctor's note. So we did.... A month later we were still charged and hadn't heard back from the school at all. When I contacted Master Endalas a week or so later, he told me that their business is based on honoring contracts (which makes sense) and there is no way to get out money back or cancel the membership (doesn't make sense). People's lives change all the time especially when children are involved. If you run a business that involves working with children you should be a little more flexible. We have been attending the program for 1 1/2 years. You have the option to sign up for 12 month or 36 month contract. (There may be a 24 month option, but I don't know for sure). We pay $150 per month and my boy can attend up to 3 times a week if he wants to. Each class is around 50mins. Rates are subject to change and depend upon the type of contract you sign. Usually, we go twice per week. I agree with Tracy L, Carol P, and LM. It is a great program for athleticism and self-esteef building. In addition to the physical benefits of running, kicking, punching, shouting, sparing, striking; they have motiviational cycles that include "self-esteem", "communication", "honesty", "respect". They have an anti-bullying program, a leadership program. They give rewards in the form of uniform patches for straight A's, good deeds / behavior outside of class. It's a great program and the instructors seem to really care about the kids. With that said, the "upselling" can be exhausting. They are constantly pushing things you can buy like t-shirts and weapons and other stuff. They push extra events you can spend your money on like seminars, camps, private lessons, birthday parties. Also, the push their marketing efforts like bringing in other friends to class, visiting your childs school. Fees are not public information and there is an aspect of "pressure". This is not a non-profit organization. They are here to make money and they can be quite pushy about it. If you can ignore that aspect of it, it is a great program. read more

My kids have been going to the Victory on Snell in Santa Teresa for the past 8 months. They absolutely love it! Yes, it is expensive and there are a lot of extra costs for the belt promotions and equipment that I had no idea about up front but the change I have seen in my children's behavior since they started is worth every penny! They are much more respectful and obedient since they started this program. They clean up after themselves, practice piano, do their homework without being told and the list goes on. It is amazing to see how much they have changed since they started this program. The change in their attitude from sluggish & unmotivated to what I see now is priceless to me. It makes my life a lot easier as a single mom trying to juggle so many things. Having cooperative kids helps a great deal. There is not a lot of attention paid to form and the athletic aspect of martial arts. I think the focus of this program is more on building character then the physical skills so It really depends on what you are looking for and why you are enrolling your kids into martial arts. Terrible for Kick boxing!! I bought a groupon offer for my daughter and myself but we were unable to even use it as there were almost no kickbox classes available through the summer. I checked with 3 Victory locations in the area. There were 5 classes a week offered at relatively the same time in each location. Two of the times were 8-9 PM- UGG for working people who are finished for the night before that time. The other times were almost never available due to kids camps occurring at that time INSTEAD (they did offer for us to work out with all the 7 year olds at that time. yea right!). I recently signed up my boys 5 and 3 years old. Because I signed up two for leadership the whole family has the option to go as well for free. My 5 year old hated the first class and barely got up there but now wants to do the tournament and is more willing to try new things. I know it's because of this school and the motivation he gets from trying new things there and having so much fun from it. He is more willing to try things outside of the ma school now and he says yes ma'am to everything I say. It's awesome and it's only been 2 weeks. The purpose of this school is to help motivate school age kids. It's not really meant for adults to work out unless you want to get your black belt or your a parent trying to motivate your child.
