This is my son (10) first year in this class and it's gone great! So proud he got a Gold Medal in his first tournament! Master Iszack is great with the kids. What has caught my attention on this studio. One it has stood the test of time. It has been part of whittier for over 30 year . I have attend, also two of my children . Now fast forward 20 years later . I was reluctant to come back with a very hyper granddaughter that has ADD and ADHD and not knowing how the school would be many years later. When I attended it was extremely focused and very disciplined. Now, could I bring her into that knowing the extreme structure that we had back in the day. Grand Master Kim gave her the opportunity. She was that one student in the beginning that would be spinning in class jumping around . She is now in over 1 1/2 year in the program. They have had the patience and guidance and have worked really hard with her. She has come a long way with their help and she has still a way to go. She stares at all the trophies and has a goal that one day she would get one. I could not thank Grand Master Kim, Master Chad and Master Daniel and all the young assistants they have for giving her the opportunity to grow and feel welcomed. She can be a handful. I found this center on the City of Whittier's parks page. I called to inquire about the program and he told me to sign up with him directly and not with the city. Victory Taekwondo will give you a "deal" to start a trial and in the middle of the deal, give you an evaluation, and then ask you to sign up for classes. There's a sales pitch with several tiers and contracts.  So, you never get the full trial period. The uniform is really bad quality. It's like an iron-on and immediately starts to peel off with the first wash. He tells you to only wash in cold water but that doesn't help because it's not even silk screen. Our son's uniform was size 0 so beware if he sells you the white uniform in this size. We have lots of clothes that survive washing but not these uniforms. We only had it for 5 months and didn't even wash it after each use. The logo on the sparring bag is coming off after only 3 months of use. All of the sparring equipment has stickers on it and it would probably peel off soon with use. The mouth guard for sparring instructs you to use boiling water. Well, it melted and the water wasn't even boiling. Cheap cheap cheap. But, we paid a pretty penny for all of this.  Our real issue with Victory Taekwondo is that after the "trial period", Grand Master Kim gave us an assessment of our son. This assessment was all normal stuff for our son's age. But, Grand Master Kim committed to working with him and told us he had a program perfect for him. Well, the classes are overwhelmingly crowded so there's not much focus on your kid. And we would bring all of our concerns to their attention. But, there just isn't enough staff to give the kids enough attention and they wouldn't step up to make sure our son was succeeding. We even switched to an earlier class in hopes to get more attention, but nope, they let him play around and didn't encourage him to focus. He should hire more people and coach his staff to focus on the kids' performance. Today, Grand Master Kim's excuse was that our son was in a group class so our expectations were too high. That's unacceptable considering his "report" 5 months ago said his center would work on all of these things with our son and had the perfect program. Our last straw was when I brought my concerns to Grand Master Kim at the beginning of class and he did nothing about it. My husband would tell him concerns and he got right on it and told his staff. But, he ignored me. So, my husband told the staff during class the same concerns again. Grand Master Kim called us over to discuss the "rules". Immediately, we told him we'd surely respect the rules but he also needs to respect his part of the contract, work with our son, and respect the amount of money that we invest in this. Additionally, don't ignore my concerns- address them so our son would get the opportunity to learn.   It was all a sales pitch to get us enthused to sign a 6 month contract. There are 1-star reviews for Victory Taekwondo that say the same thing we're saying. You just have to sort the 1 star reviews. Sales pitch with lies. His sales pitch comes with an evaluation but they weren't holding up to their end of the bargain. And we'd told them our concerns several times about working with our son. Today, he also told us that we should trust the instructors. Well, we did trust them, we voiced our concerns, and were ignored. So, no, I wouldn't recommend this center. The uniform and equipment product is cheap and your concerns are ignored. The class schedules are only during the week. You can do mixed make-up classes on the weekend or pay more money for additional classes on the weekend. The classes are extremely crowded and your kid doesn't get much attention. Today, Grand Master Kim came off very dismissive and rude to me, specifically. He even told me that he called my husband over, not me, to discuss our son. Ha! I told him that's not how marriage works nor is that how it works when it comes to our son and our investment in his growth. I'm sure he took issue with me being direct and honest about their shortcomings. But, oh well- At some point, enough is enough. He expected us to sign another contract but all we got was excuses about their shortcomings. read more

I have all 4 of my kids at Victory Taekwondo. It has been amazing for them!! It's an awesome family friendly atmosphere! I love that there is parental involvement when learning certain techniques.
