The food was definitely one of, if not, the best latin food in the Katy area. There are better ones in Houston and surrounding area but this was definitely up there. The service was impeccable with the waiters and waitresses constantly checking on their customers and even the manager came to check on us. A bit to unpack here. To start with, I know that some things are traditional and I respect that but I am a little put off by the guy standing right behind me playing so loud that I can't even order with the bartender. I would tune it down a bit and this comes from a drummer so I'm not sound sensitive. We ordered chips and salsa and saw that it's $3.50. Despite that it never came until we asked, that's just ridiculous. This is a free thing at even the most high end Mexican establishments. It's just not a good look. We got the Botana de Camaron which while good, is too messy and for $10 shouldn't be peel and eat. It's lazy and they could do it with tail on no problem. It's just the little things that would make the experience feel better. We also got the Crab Empanadas which were nice sized but you only get 2 so they should indicate that on the menu. It's an appetizer that wouldn't work for anyone other than a couple unless you know to order two. All-in-all, it wasn't terrible but there are better places in Houston for the value and time in my opinion. I felt like I was eating at a tourist trap type place in the airport. read more

My bride and I dine at Vida Mariscos for the first time this Sunday evening, September 28. We were looking forward to authentic Mexican style seafood but our experience was extremely disappointing!! While our meals were tasty and service was quite good, our dinner was destroyed by extremely loud live performance music! The music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation sitting shoulder to shoulder. We left the restaurant with ringing ears and throbbing headaches from the tortuous loud music. We will not return to Vida Mariscos and can not recommend the restaurant to anyone because of f the painfully loud live music. read more

Ok so this place is new and wanted to definitely check it out. The inside is spacious and beautifully decorated. You can also sit outside but wait until it cools off. Anyways the staff was quick with service and my order, and they kept checking on me. In ordered a bowel of seafood it looked delicious and it was ok. Plenty of seafood and shrimp around the bowl. The mangos inside the dish was a turn off. They were still ripe and were super hard. It took me a few minutes to take them out. It's a new restaurant it will take some time to perfect their food. I ordered a beer and it was ice cold! Loved it! I will definitely returning and will try other dishes. P.S we were going to order oysters but they didn't have any. We have been a few times over the last few months and enjoyed every experience. The Fish Louisiana is a great dish that we have gotten multiple times and it doesn't disappoint. Our most recent server Glendi was super attentive along with the rest of the staff who are always around willing to serve and help out. I want to give this place a higher rating due to the delicious food but it's lacking in some areas.. Came here with a party of 10 on a Saturday night. We already had a reservation made since we knew it'd be busy but when we arrived the hostess gave my family a very rude look after saying she didn't see our reservation and that we would still need to wait. After being seated, our servers were much nicer and enthusiastic thankfully. The wait for food and drinks was not bad considering how busy it was and the food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers they bring out small bolillo breads and crackers with some pickled carrots and veggies which was delicious. My fiancé and I shared the molcajete. Definitely recommend this - so much food leftover still and so much flavor. The molcajete comes with a side or rice and beans. We had asked for tortillas de harina and were given maíz. We had to ask twice for harina to be brought out.. the mangonada margarita we had also had so little alcohol it was kind of disappointing. Since we had a birthday in the family, they gave a free dessert for her which was nice of them. The ambience here is definitely great and fun for party people. Lots of loud live music, chatting, drinking and some people will even dance. The parking can get very packed but there's always spots available towards the back, you may need to circle around a bit. They definitely started out on the wrong foot, especially on my birthday dinner. I was told we could not sit by the window! Who what's to be in the middle of a restaurant when you can sit by the window? Overall the food was very flavorful. Don't order the shrimp cocktail it tastes like shrimp with catchup. The mango ceviche was excellent! The oysters were not fresh, they were pretty mushy. The hostess was not accommodating but the waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Very very busy restaurant. We dined here as a family on a busy Friday night. We have heard good positive things about this place when we arrive there was about a 20 minute wait which was fine we were seated and it was a very loud. The music, people talking etc. My husband ordered tacos. I ordered the salmon entree. I was very disappointed in the food. Overall just okay. Parking is not an issue and the place is very big so no problem in getting a seat. We did sit at the bar, the bartender was so busy trying to be cute for everyone she was slow to serve. We had fish and fries and the fries were cold but the did bring a fresh basket. The food was great as well! I got the Fried Platter that has a little bit of everything. Loved it! There was a live band and the place was crowded. People got up to dance and we enjoyed watching everyone have a great time. My friends split a mixed fajita platter for 2 and it was truly so much food. We took a lot of left overs home. I am soooo impressed with this restaurant!! I heard it was massive inside, but it truly is! It gets packed and there is eventually a wait on the weekends but trust me it's worth it. Truly the best fish I ever had! My boyfriend and I both got fish dishes but mine won! It was the fish playa azul and it truly was the best combination with fish and crab meat I have ever had! Came into town from Houston for my son's baseball tournament. When asked where to eat my family recommended Vida Mariscos. Fun atmosphere. I do wish the music was a little lower as we were yelling at each other like if we were in a club. We were told that a band would be showing up in a couple of hours, but the music was because it was Saturday. I ordered a mango margarita, and it was delicious, as well as, the pollo de mar plate, and my fiancé ordered the fajitas. Both were delicious. They were all good, not super sweet and had a nice bartender pour. We got a few plates: classic fish ceviche appetizer- large, tasty and shareable. Jalapeños rellenos- OMG, hearty and Spicy! Fish playa azul- large portion, a kinda bland dish. Mojarra frita- large snapper, meaty. Wanted it sautéed in garlic butter, but it came on the side and it was very thick. I asked for fresh warm bread and when they came back it's as if nothing was done. Still hard as a rock. I looked around and I don't see anyone touching their bread either. Next for the main event, my friend had beef and shrimp fajitas. I asked the waitress what was the best thing on the menu. She unconvincingly recommended The Parrillada for two. Huge amount. Impressive looking. The shrimp were not to my liking plus the lobster was fare, you could tell it was frozen. I didn't like the clams. Sad, I'm sure they have other things that are good. My friend didn't care for his fajitas. The side plate had refried black beans that were good, but the rice was odd. Would I try it again, maybe. Place is huge. Had no wait for a table at 6:30 on a Saturday, which was nice. However it is incredibly loud. They had a mariachi band traveling amongst the tables but they were connected to amplifier speakers they carried with them. So. Loud. We couldn't carry a conversation bc we had to scream to hear each other. I love the music but the sound level was Obnoxious!! We were disappointed to learn we had to pay for chips and salsa (a first for us). We ordered the Vida parrillada for 2. The food was amazing. Absolutely loved the fish. It was so much food, we couldn't finish it and had leftovers to take home. For the 2 of us our bill was $91 which included a drink each, plus the chips/salsa and the parrillada. The wait was atrocious when there's plenty of servers and cooks in the kitchen every time. First time we ordered paella, the wait was 30 minutes. Second time we came we ordered the octopus and grilled fish, wait was 40 minutes. After that long wait your temper goes up and hunger does down, which significantly impacts the dining experience. Paella was also extremely sour from the olives. Wouldn't recommend it.
