Sebestien at Video Audition Uploads is AMAZING! Honestly, this was the best self tape experience I've ever had. I've been to a ton of self tape studios and none compete to his. He uses high tech cameras, lighting and sound to capture the best quality. He also has a teleprompter that is much bigger compared to other self tape Studios- this was SUPER helpful especially for very long auditions. Recently I've been getting a lot of requests for taped auditions. Thought it was a fluke at first, but it seems like the industry is shifting gears again in yet another monumental paradigm shift when it comes to the marketing of oneself. For example, NBC and ABC now do their preliminary diversity showcase auditions online instead of in person (for round 1) so this is a trend that is definitely not going away. I remember my first agent who refused to believe that casting directors prefer emailed submissions over snail mail and she refused to stop mailing hard copy headshots. Babygirl went extinct like the dinosaurs.. O_o To me it's just easier to pay someone to do it at a studio so I don't have to move furniture around my apartment for half an hour and turn on every lamp in the place. Saro Solis is wonderful to work with...a consummate professional / VO artist himself that not only reads well, but uses a very high quality camera, and a HUGE professional microphone (it's the best sound I've had for a taped audition yet). SOUND is this dude's RELIGION, his studio has a sound booth with teleprompter, ISDN equipment (this is like self tapings but for voice overs) and excellent compression software. I thought he did such a good job with my video audition tapings (added subtitles, my name in fancy letters all that jazz..) that I hired him to do my VO reel as well. He's super CHEAP which you know I'm digging. I looked around and everybody else seems to charge by the minute...so even if they say "oh we only charge $15 per 10 minutes" how long do you actually think it's going to take??? With standard fumbling and inevitable mistakes you'll be in there AT LEAST 40 minutes to an hour, not to mention they have to compress all that shit and send via wetransfer.com. What I like about Saro is it's a set price. However, be prepared: you get 3 takes to get it right, so be off book and don't expect him to teach you your lines. Don't be scared, just be off-book! It will up your game. I come in on point and nail it quickly. I only go to "Video Audition Uploads" now... went to a chick in the valley with 15 barking rescue orphan dogs and she had the audacity to ask for $80 by the time we were done. Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury ... 1:40 p.m. -- I called to make a same day appointment 1:45 p.m. -- I emailed to confirm appointment and send the sides, per instructions. 2:00 p.m. -- the time this business said a previous client was already booked for two hours. 4:12 p.m. -- the time I arrived at the apartment building where this business is located for my 4:30 p.m. appointment. 5:00 p.m. -- the time the business closes. Me: It's your 4:30. Them: I thought you canceled. What's your name? Me: [I state my name] Them: Let me see. Oh, yes! I had two [people with that name] and one of them canceled. Me: So you can't do it? Them: I've made other arrangements. But I'll let you do it next time for free. I'm so sorry. Let me get this straight. in the course of two and one half hours, another person with the exact same (not all that common) name called to cancel an appointment for the same day? There were two people with the same name scheduled in the last 30 minutes of the day? And wouldn't a business call or email a customer to inform them an earlier appointment had become available due to a cancellation? Someone answered when I called up at 4:12 p.m. They couldn't just take a customer even if they believed, mistakenly, that customer had canceled? Hogwash. Honestly, the whole working-out-of-my-apartment-and-prefer-cash thing sketched me out, but I was under a deadline so I chanced it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. But the fact that I complied with all of their instructions -- email the sides and the link where the self-tape will be uploaded in advance, don't wear shoes because we just installed new carpet "for better sound," don't wear perfume -- only to be stood up at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon when the footage had been promised to New York by Saturday morning really was the limit. I get the feeling something underhanded is going on with this place. Avoid it like the plague. read more

It was the MOST EFFICIENT AND EASIEST AUDITION TAPING I HAD DONE. Saro had everything ready when I arrived: the lighting, the mic, the camera, his copy of the highlighted script, a folder on his computer under my name for my tape, etc. I mean it was as streamlined as it could be. I just had to walk in, do three takes and choose the best take. Saro took care of the rest by editing/formatting the take and sending the video to me right away. All of this for ONLY $35... Nothing else in town beats that value. The video was extremely clean and the audio was AMAZING. This is long overdue but I had such an incredible experience! I had received an audition at the last minute and couldn't meet with my usual reader, which ended up working to my advantage. Sebestien was able to meet with me the next day right after I got off from work and the set up was incredible! The camera is 4K and there's also another monitor where you can see yourself from where you're standing, a very useful thing especially now with social distancing so you don't even have to move an inch to review your tape. He had me send over my materials the night before and was so thorough that when a contact card was requested in the instructions, he printed one out for me with very nice paper. The session itself was stress free. I'm one to obsess over every single take I do and overthink. Sebestien guided me and even gave me great notes so I didn't have to overthink and wonder if I was doing great work. By the end of our session, I felt really confident about my self tape. Out of the self audition services I've experienced so far in LA, Saro's is one that I've had the most success with in terms of professionalism, quality, and relative ease of setting up appointments (even if they're last minute). In terms of the technical aspects, the picture quality is excellent but it is the sound that is just astounding as I don't think I've ever heard myself sounding so good until I heard myself going through the audition tapes. Just a note (even if this is a given), make sure to be completely prepared as Saro will give you a few takes and from there, he'll go over with you which one you think is best, along with his input. If I could give him and his commitment to his craft 10 stars, I would. I may have to call Yelp to make them add stars, because 5 just isn't enough. I have been going to tape with Sebestien on a weekly basis for over 3 years now, and I can say with all honesty that I have never walked out with anything but a smile on my face, along with a tape that I cannot wait to send my agents. I refuse to tape with anyone else because NOBODY delivers the same amount of effort and genuine passion as Sebestien does. As a seasoned actor/spokesman/vo artist, I'm more old-school and prefer getting in the casting room. But unfortunately the industry is moving more and more to self tapes, especially now in this pandemic downturn. I've grown tired of doing crappy self tape auditions on my Android phone.
