The first time that I went on the website a year ago, I'll admit that it was pretty sketchy looking. But when I drove my Xbox One and PS4 over, the person I met with was friendly and very upfront about what they would do. Throughout the process, the technician let me know exactly what was going on. I got both back in working condition, and I have since had no troubles with my PS4. My Xbox One is acting up again now, so I feel good about dropping it off again to get checked out before the holidays. A big plus that I've noticed is that they have a new website look, and it is a major improvement. Much more clear and easy to understand. Having an account already made may have helped too. But so far I have had no issues with this store, and will continue to use it for my future game repairs! read more

I (unfortunately) do not have the time or patience to thoroughly explore all of the shortcomings of this company in a yelp review, however, I think many potential customers would be helped by the highlights: Initially upon bringing my system to them I had believed (based on their website) and the fact that I was picking up/dropping off my own unit that I would be returned a working product at a price comparable to those suggested on their website in the 24 hours they so proudly guarantee. Unfortunately, this was not the case, as I was slammed with a bill of $150. Additionally, I was notified (via email, please do not waste your time thinking you can have any remote shred of useful human to human interaction with anyone associated with this place) several days later they were done. Luckily for this review, the fact that they professionally fail to meet any reasonable expectations that they personally themselves set, the attitude of the employees makes their enormous professional ineptitude seem almost trivial. The "gentleman" that works the counter is probably the most condescending individual I have ever interacted with as a customer of any business. Essentially any question I had for him was rudely redirected to their computer system with a complete failure to verbalize an answer to my question. Even when provided with the inane information the place requires, he was still completely incapable of giving me a single useful answer. Finally, and I think this may be worth noting as well - despite three visits to this waste of time shack, I never had a system that worked for more than a few weeks after they "fixed it." EVERY CENT AND SECOND I GAVE THEM WAS A COMPLETE WASTE. Save yourself the disappointment, send it to the manufacturer or look on youtube how to fix it yourself. Do not use this business. I was trying to save some money by using this company. I had the hinge broken on my Nintendo 3DS. I sent it to them. They said they had all common parts in stock and the repair would be around 60 dollars. They got my unit and the tech wrote back that they didn't have the plastic shell casings in stock but that when it did come in he would replace it. Then he said they were going to replace the top LCD screen too. I wrote back to them not to do that, there was nothing wrong with it. I wrote back every week to ask if the shell case was back in stock and they said no. I didn't write to them for two weeks then asked if the case was in stock. They said they "may" have some in stock that had some slight scratches but that I would have to pay before they could do it. I was like what do you mean you may have the part, you either do or you don't. I could not get a straight answer about that. they tried to charge me 140 dollars, I had to remind them that I didn't want a new LCD screen, there was nothing wrong. The tech was like well if you don't get a new one it may fail then we are not responsible. It took a month to get my unit back and I ended up paying 100 dollars, if you have a problem with your videogame just go to the company that made it! Do not use these guys. If you want your unit back without any repairs done they will charge you 20 bucks diagnostic fee and shipping, and won't send it back unless you pay. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. Much like the previous post, the customer service was horrendous, misdirected answers to questions, and general hostility is what I received at this place. Here is my story: I came in with an original (PS2 backwards compatible) model PS3 where the motherboard has fried. Sony would have charged me $150 and couldn't guarantee I'd get my system back. So I went to this place after doing some research the prices seemed low by comparison as per the website, boy was I wrong. After keeping the system for a few days they inform me the motherboard needed repairing. The cost $120. This was much higher than the $80 price tag they had on the website. The 'Free' estimate actually costs $30 if you choose not to go with their service. The cost is waved if they do the repairs. While this didn't sit well with me, the cost was still lower than sending it to Sony and they guaranteed the work. So I figured what the hell right.... man was I wrong... About a week later I pick up my system and after 10 days it dies out again. I took it back and after a difficult somatic dance with the above mentioned 'gentleman' he approved to honor the guarantee and attempt to repair it. (Note: Basically because the PS3 was showing a different blinking light pattern, he tried to pass it off as it may not be related to the same issue I initially brought it in with... this is when I started getting worried about this place... But they had my money what could I do...) About a week later they fix my PS3 again. I gladly drive out the 45 minutes to pick up my system and bring it home. Not a week later... guess what happens... yup she dies again.... Furious I called again (I may not have mentioned it but this place has a phone line system like a major corporation, touch tones, and directories, and what not. I've been to the place. It's smaller than most Gamestops. I never understood why they needed the complex phone system. It's obvious, to keep customers off balance and without a method of direct communication...) So I eventually got through and bring my system in. At this point the 'gentleman' grills me with all sorts of questions. Did I throw my Playstation, did anyone drop it, etc. He actually shook my Playstation and said it sounds like something's broken inside, and had the audacity to blame me for it. So after a minor hostile exchange of words the 'gentleman' say's he'll look over the machine and if they find it wasn't due to neglect then he'll repair it. Seriously... fine. About three or four days later I get an email notification stating what everyone can guess happens next. Their analysis they said they found it was due to neglect and voided the warranty. So that's the story... My original model PS3 dead... moral of the story just pay the extra money and have the manufacturer take care of it. Last point of interest: I picked up the PS3 and took a screw driver to it. Guess what I found inside. The core processor was charred and blackened. Totally smothered in thermal paste, and there were solder drops all over the motherboard. After seeing this no wonder the old girl died three times. Rest in Peace...you will be missed. My Xbox 360 slim has a broken tray it won't operate. I am awaiting my arrival. I paid for shipping. They provide free return. I feel that this is overpriced. I got in touch in august 2012, sent them my PS3 system, which they repaired and sent back a coupe of weeks later, all was good. a couple of months later the original issue (flashing yellow light then turn itself off happened again), so I contacted them for warranty repair. They said to send the system they'd' fix it and send it back. Almost 2 months later the system was returned to me, packed with envelopes, none of the foam I had originally packed it in, and the front was smashed in. There was a piece of paper inside saying that if item was received damaged then to contact shipping company to file a claim so I did. Turns out that when done this way only the sender can find out if the claim was successful. Video Game 911 called me to say it could take months to get an answer and if I didn't want to wait they'd sell me a refurbished system at a discount (which was actually almost as much as it would cost to get a new system!!!). I asked for a full refund as they hadn't provided me with any service, they said they would do that, shortly before calling me back with some excuse about how paypal wouldn't let them process a refund as the original transaction was too long ago. I contacted Amex to file a dispute, a month or so later they refunded the original amount as Video Game 911 was refusing to correspond with them. Seeing a few of these reviews here and honestly I am a bit confused. My experience with them couldn't have been better. I was recommended this place by a friend and yes saw these review so I was a bit cautious. However they were the closest repair shop by far so I decided to try them anyways. GLAD I DID. PS4 HDMI port is notoriously bad and difficult to replace. Not only were they able to fix the problem, and they replaced it with a better hdmi port altogether. Customer service was very helpful, professionalism was on point and overall service was great. I won't say the below reviews are lies or embellished, but they do seem arbitrary to the point that I can't believe we are talking about the same business. Had my PS3 repaired by Videogame911 (ring of death ) cost me 107.00 to fix it .Was also charge twice for it on my credit card, first problem with them. Before sending it to them it 4 or 5 tries before staying on ,send it and got system back only to have same problem with it but worst would not turn on at all could not load game into unit at all. had to send my PS3 three time. Great experience. They were knowledgable, responsive and kept me well informed on the work and progress. They repaired a dead Data East Star Wars Pinball. It had a problem with the main CPU and the flipper board. While this were being fixed I had them shop the entire machine and convert the lights to LED's. When the machine was done it worked great and the new lights make the machine pop. All the plastics and play field were cleaned and polished. Looks and plays like new. Great job!! Will use them again in the future for any pinball sales or repairs. Highly recommend this business. read more

Just had my first experience with Video Game 911's services and it was a pleasure. Knowledgeable, professional, and best yet, on-time! I had two house visits from Vince for maintenance on a 24 year old pinball machine I recently acquired, which had not been maintenanced in over ten years. The first visit was to perform tasks as I outlined over their online work order form. Simple enough there. Once at my house, Vince examined the machine and advised what services should be performed for optimal playing experience and longevity of the machine itself. And he was just as happy to simply preform the tasks I had outlined. I figured me also being named Vince was a good sign. The second visit was for a few additional services that I thought he machine would benefit from. But I feel I should point out that not once did I feel pressure to go with additional options and maintenance services. Vince was very forthcoming in what I should and should not expect with the various services. Same with pricing, he was up front with costs and there were no surprise add-on fees at the end of the service call. I happily recommend them. read more

Well, the original ROMs were re-installed and everything is working. Monitor is working exactly as it should and the image is terrific. Felt that it was only fair to report this in an update. So the positives: Communication process was pretty solid, and 911 did deliver both the initial repair and subsequent repairs in timely fashion. I asked them to fix the monitor and they did...it is working fine now. We'll see for how long, though it's fair to factor in age, as some of the internals are over 35 years old. The negatives: The person I dealt with (the owner) is one of the moodiest people that I've ever met...he can be pleasant one minute, condescending and abrupt the next. Complete lack of people skills. I have to be fair: if he hadn't installed the multi-game ROM, whatever problems we wound up having would've been nonexistent, and the review score would've been higher. But I still feel that, given how his demeanor changed once there were issues, that potential customers should at least be aware that, should issues arise, they will have to deal with some attitude before getting them resolved. read more

I found this place online, as I was looking for a place to fix my PS4. I sent an email and got the repair process underway. From when they received my PS4 it took about an hour or two to get my quote. The cost was cheaper than the manufacture and on top of that they gave me a discount. Tried to speak with a rep about my issue, not only was this person not helpful but they responded sarcasticly to me for wanting to know a bit of information before giving my credit card number, or sending my console for repair. Im an easy to deal with person who just wanted a bit of info but the person i had to deal with on FB messenger was beyond rude had no customer service skills and told me that he didnt want to answer any questions unless i sent my console and told me if i called their number the person i talked to wouldnt be able to either, since i wasnt able to even speak with someone who knew half of what i do about the inner workings of gaming electronics i will not send my system, i wanted to talk to someone before i let someone i dont know open console up. But this was a very unpleasant experience and i didnt apretiate the attitude i was given. read more

We are very light users of our PS3 and their repair warranty is for only 3 months. Don't waste your money getting the YLOD repaired and just pay up and buy a NEW system with a factory warranty. read more

On 8/27 I purchased a prepaid total protection package for $25 to ship my Atari for repairs. The 1st tracking # they gave me was for a wrong address. The 2nd # they printed a label but the post office told me that they never sent the package because it was never scan by the post office as received by the vendor. On 9/3 I contact VG911. They said they would look into it get a manager involved. Early the next day I contact them again now they gave me another (3rd) tracking #. I made a request for a refund and the tec refused saying that they had already sent the prepaid box. When I checked the 3rd tracking # the post office said it was scan at noon that would be after I requested a refund. Nine days has past since I paid them still no shipping box. Somebody has really dropped the ball. I have chosen to take my losses and find someone else to repair my Atari or just go buy another one. This has taken up way too much of my time. read more

Wishing I had checked more reviews first. I sent in a PS3 original backwards compatible system, this was one where I had already fixed a YLOD before and the system worked after that. When I fix a YLOD myself (as people have had me do for them since I have fixed my own) I mark screws with color coding, tape up wires, and generally do anything I can to make sure that putting it back together is as about as idiot proof as it gets. Being the son of an engineer that has been drubbed into me for 30 years. The machine had started freezing up on startup, and since that was not a problem I am familiar with and no real answers provided themselves on google that I wholeheartedly trusted I found this company online and gave them a try. Their website claims that with a super secure shipping pack you get a free return shipping just like if they do repair something, so I shelled out the 25 dollars for that. I get a call back to verify my address which I had thought at the time was pretty good customer service. Then everything fell apart, they e-mail me saying that it was unrepairable. They then said that return shipping would be 30 dollars. I asked them about that and they said no that its only if they fix it that they return for free. I then looked their site back up and I guess you could take it that way as well depending on how you read it so I let that fly and spent the extra 30. When I got it back the cover had been replaced with one that had gotten heat damage and warped/melted in parts, they had broken the flip cover off that protects the SD card slots AND DIDN'T PUT IT IN THE BOX, so I know that it did NOT happen during the shipping process. This alone made me wonder since everyone knows that spare parts and backward compatible units that work are worth quite a bit. So after picking it up and hearing parts roll around inside I opened it back up. They had first off not replaced all of the screws, and some of the screws they did replace were not the right ones for the spot they were put. Anyone who deals in electronics KNOWS that thread, length, and space between threads is VERY important. The Blu-Ray drive had been dismantled and left taken apart without the screws even being returned (let me tell you how hard it is to find screws that damn tiny and getting the proper ones without at least 1 demo). None of my permanent marker codings were there and none of the parts looked like the ones I had sent them. The only numbers that matched the ones that were on what I sent was the serial number on the sticker one the back (which since it is placed on only 1 piece that is easily switched between consoles) I am certain that they took all the good parts from my system to repair others for more profit or keeping mine to sell if mine worked fine with an easy fix (like redownloading the new update since I have learned recently that the newest update at that time was causing a freezing issue). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER!!!! I am currently trying to find any legal recourse as well as the Better Business Bureau. I hope my review helps someone not get screwed by these charlatans. read more

My experience with VG911 was nothing but a hassle. Their company is literally nothing more than a sham and will do anything to get every cent out of you. I knew that my PS3 needed its blu-ray disc repaired and looked at their 'price-chart' beforehand and thought it seemed reasonable. Free return shipping and one-day turn around? Seemed like a great alternative to contacting Sony knowing I'd be out of my system a month. How wrong I was, I wish I had searched for a review before taking a chance with them. If you are reading this FIND ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE. I shipped my slim PS3 to VG911 for ~$10 USD through USPS. A day later I received a quote that was 50% higher than what the price chart on their site said. They also told me that if I didn't agree to pay them the absurd amount I could buy a brand new PS3 for, I would have to pay $30 dollars just for them to ship it back to me, or else they would keep my console. No where on their site does it tell you any of this. Since the console had all of my bank account and login information saved you can bet I was not going to let them keep it. I found a coupon code online on their Facebook page and was like well at least I can get $5 off. So Then I went to pay on my account, logged into their site, and it defaults in with information about some one else's ps3 model, and the name and address of someone else. I replaced all the information greatly fearing that I was about to get someone else's ps3 and someone else's mine so I replaced the information and tried to attach a comment to my order- Only to see a "Comments are disabled for non-purchases error." So I email their support about the problem - no reply even til now. So I put in my card info, place my coupon code, hit submit and...Instant charge. No order summary screen. Nothing. 5 min later receive an email in my inbox with a receipt from them coupon is even on the receipt yet I'm charged full price. I email them again and receive a reply 2 days later saying I spelled the coupon code wrong? I copy and pasted it off their facebook page, let alone there was no 'this code is invalid' or any such warning on the payment page. Left them another nasty message and accepting defeat...wait for my ps3 to arrive. Over a week later it arrives ( my original shipping it to them for $10 dollars took 2 days) take it out of the box and plug it in. First time I cut it on I was getting no output to my tv. I flipped it on and off a few times and then it started working, but now has a new,loud humming sound the entire time its on. I tried contacting to send it back but they want me to pay for the shipping to send it back to them again. This is completely unacceptable and I'm not going to throw away more money so it can come back worse off. I wanted to share my initial experience with Video Game 911 located in Denville, NJ. I had 2 Video Arcade games that needed repair. I spoke to the owner Vince who was able to take a look at my machines immediately. Vince advised me of the costs involved with servicing the machines completely to ensure they remain working properly. After discussing this with my wife we determined the costs were too high since these machines are only used as cheap entertainment for our friends and family. (We are not game collectors and in fact received the one machines from our friends for free) I explained to Vince our situation and the purpose of these machines and that the level of service he provides is probably too high for the intent that we use these machines. Vince was understanding and extremely flexible in coming up with a cost solution that would allow us to manage getting the machines repaired. It is nice to see a business that will listen to their customers and provide solutions that work within a budget and not be focused only on their bottom dollar. Vince was also willing to work on our timeline so we can arrange to pickup both machines at the same time and save additional trips to his shop since we are about an hour away. This was a good example of coming up with a solution by talking to the service provider. I am glad I took the time to call and talk to Vince about my situation. I am looking forward to getting the machines back and using Video Game 911 to service an additional machine we have. I read the reviews and really thought twice about going here. They do most of the client contact online. Im guessing it's because they have young guys working there. I filled out my work order, and then wasnt sure about dropping it off after I read the reviews. They contacted me by email and phone to see why I hadnt dropped it off yet and were very nice. You can follow the whole process online, so when we dropped it off I got an update they had the machine, etc. When they figured out what was wrong I got another email about the estimate and what they would do etc. I emailed them a few questions and always got a response the same day. You get an email about how much the repair is and you can pay online, then they do the repair. I went and picked it up, the whole process took less then 4 days and it was during Christmas week. So far its only been 1 day and the console works file. BTW it was the disk drive. I would recommend them to friends. read more
