It's been pretty well covered, so I'll keep it short. Parking is definitely very limited. I like that they have stuff on foreign/bootleg DVDs that isn't released in the U.S. (like some crazy Takashi Miike movies, for example). While they do have lots of stuff that isn't available on Netflix/elsewhere, I have also found myself coming up empty here numerous times so it's not really a place that has everything. excellent selection. i like how sections are categorized (genre, country, by director, etc.). i don't get as overwhelmed with their selection because i can usually decide what I'm generally in the mood for (i.e. early lynch films, Thai films, horror movies from the 80's that have the scary VHS artwork that STILL gives you the creeps, etc.) and head straight to that section. the pricing n return policies are fair, and the staff is like that movie buff friend of yours (and they're probably nicer too.) my only beef with them is that they don't have beastmaster (NO. I am seriously impressed by Videodrome's selection. Aside from a handful of mainstream hits, they have a wide selection of international films from all over, a shite-load of indie movies, and really esoteric genres, like Japanese biker chick movies. I was really surprised by their Asian movie selections. WHAa?! How??...I mean, ...whaaa!? I have always gone to Asian video stores for my dose to Asian movies, but I was really amazed to find some of the movies for rent there. They have great cult movies here. I also come here for hard to find foreign films. They need to work on their late fees. Those are kind of outdated in this day and age of Netflix. Absolutely fantastic place for people who love movies. Largest selection of films imaginable, with practically every film that's available on DVD. Movies from every country and in every category, from obscure Chinese films to current popular films they have it all. There's a large section of independent films and a really nice section of animation and children/family movies. Very friendly and knowledgeable people work there and can often help you find the film you're looking for even if you can't remember the name of the movie. This place has got tons of movies I've thought were destined to remain in film buff obscurity forever. Granted, I'm not a resident expert of the bloody sex fetish driven Japanese genre that they've got stocked, but you never really expect to see some of the movies they've got for rental outside of specialty online stores where you've got a guy making VHS copies off the original TV airing 20 years ago. Videodrome is a unique movie rental business that caters to fans of independent and foreign films. It's easy to spot due to their large logo painting on the exterior brick wall. There's also a small convenient parking lot in front of the establishment. The selection inside is definitely not your typical blockbuster. All the videos are sectioned off by country, or director, or special genre. The people that work there are super knowledgeable of the most random of films and there's usually an interesting film playing in the background. After picking a movie, grab the little paper tab in the front of movie cover and bring it up to the register. The employees will bring you the actual movie and charge you about 3 dollars something for a 3 day rental (I think, correct me if I'm wrong). You just can't hate a Friday night movies-and-candy marathon with the one you love and a great flick from Videodrome. I used to be a huge advocate for Netflix, but now that this is so close to home, it's hard to make the argument that a big Internet company can do a better job picking films than the folks that work at this joint. I always intend to swing in and get something specific--last night, I was going in to use my Scoutmob on "Ides of March," but then the racks drew me in and I ended up getting a few more, as well (um hello, "Drag Me To Hell" is a completely awesome Friday night choice, and "The Man Who Would Be King" has Michael Caine and Sean Connery in it, which.). My first job was at a video store, and I wish we'd organized the way they do. You can peruse certain directors, or certain genres, or certain countries' work. The method is great when you're not sure what you want. The only time it doesn't work is when you already know, and you just need to find it. Luckily, the people who work here can handle that part for you. As someone who loves--LOVES--film, this is the perfect place to go if you love films and need a good one to watch tonight. read more

I LOVE cult and independent movies. Movies that are out of the ordinary and way out there! Videodrome is a video rental store that specializes people like me. Fans of the David Cronenberg classic mindwarp film will catch the reference immediately with the title of the store. If you know what I mean, then this place is for you. When I went in there my jaw dropped and I began drooling on the floor (figuratively) when I saw the vast collection of cult films available to rent. I wanted to take all of them home to watch them. However, I had one big problem: I live in Nashville, TN. I told the clerk working in the store that if I lived in Atlanta I would be in Videodrome every day. My dad used to take me here as a kid, but I didn't return until I was going to college in the city. Needless to say, I hadn't appreciated the cheapness of the place or the interesting selection of movies they had as a child. But I'm glad that I now have a place to go to get all the international and under-the-radar movies I want...and for less than those *other* places. Best place to rent movies in Atlanta. Period. This place has something for everyone to watch. They have a great anime section which always has all the volumes in a full series. I also like the way they organize the store. There's a "new additions" section but then they organize not just by genre but by director and place of origin. So, you find your favorite movie and then discover other movies by the same person or you find the spanish section and it's surrounded by the same. It's really helped me choose movies that I was happy watching. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and able to give good recommendations with my bumbling explanations of the kind of movie I want to see ('well, I liked Babel, but it was, ya know, depressing... 21 grams too... Do you have anything like that but happier?") They have a huge collection of foreign films (especially Spanish and Japanese). There is also a great selection of all the classics, Kubrick, documentaries, and cult classics. Give it a try, you're bound to find something that you'll find extremely interesting. read more
