I grew up in Akron and used to call Dande my home course for high school golf. I now live out of…read morethe area and haven't played there in a couple years, but I was really impressed with how far its come along when I was there this morning to play a round with my brother. The course was in amazing shape and they are in the process of adding a lot more to the practice area and they are working on running a cart path along all 18 holes. It's a little pricey, but seeing how they are doing what they can to make the course better, makes me feel like it's worth it to play there. They even have a PGA professional there now offering lessons and other coaching. I feel like they are doing a great job at being a great, more inexpensive option than going to Ivy Ridge or Arrowhead nearby. The course itself is beautiful and not too challenging. It offers a few challenging holes and there are no bunkers so it's honestly a great place for all skill levels.

By no means am I super fast nor slow. Our tee time was for 2:45 and I heard another group come in after us that had a tee time for 3:05. When we got the the course, at times there were 3 different groups on a hole. A, 2 people behind us and 2 people ahead of us. The whole thing was kind of irritating since you always feel rushed and sometimes us to Two groups are behind you watching. The golf course itself is very beautiful. It's not too difficult nor easy it's a happy middle. There is a perfect amount of water to make the course challenging and unpredictable. You will Lose quite a bit of golf balls on the course thought no because of the brush or water but because if you hit a bad ball, you'll need to hit another and can't spend time actually looking for your ball because the next group will be on your tail. I told the person I was golfing with that they could absolutely make a wedding venu on their property. There are lots of beautiful areas for wedding pictures. Great place overall, just upset about the cramming of tee times

The guy working the club house said it was in the best condition of all the area courses, and he was not kidding. He also said "in general, don't miss right" which was also partially true... but really, he could have just said "don't miss" and it would have been just as palpable. The course is not very long for the most part, but is well protected by hazards. These manifest as natural reeded marsh, ponds and creeks, large pot bunkers, and just general woods. Accuracy is at a premium over distance, I think I only hit driver off the tee three times, opting instead for 3 wood or 3i hybrid in the majority of cases. The greens were immaculate, true rolls and good speed. In general, the course was very well maintained, the staff kind, bathroom breaks convenient and clean, and the drink cart girl showing up right when you needed her services! The starter let us go as a twosome without having to wait and be paired up, yay! We also hit a small bag of balls on the practice range before the round, and found it to be in good shape as well. We would absolutely play this gem of a golf course again.

He decided to turn the outside lights off earlier than closing time, then come outside of the enclosed area to say "oh it's like daytime in there you should shoot in there" many times now this has caused us to leave. Mind you he is shooting balls in the enclosed area. It is beyond invasive and creepy. I have photos of the individual. He is visually intoxicated and even asked us if we "had a light" (lighter) There are multiple instances we have had problems. I'm beyond disgusted because this is an employee. You of course can't concentration on shotting balls when there is an intoxicated employee stumbling around asking for a lighter and trying to give unsolicited advice.

Sun was not too strong this evening, around 7:30pm and thank goodness it wasn't raining. So I didn't want to be the covered tee. But next time, I'll try the open area on the grass. That would be more true to actual conditions on a golf course. There's a putting area and little pro shop. Nothing fancy inside, but that's ok. Prices for buckets of balls: Small $7, Large $10: Jumbo It's not labeled the number of balls you get in each basket. Discount of a free basket offered if you buy a large number of buckets up front. What was interesting - the young lady at the counter would not honor a discount on a bucket of balls offered by Yelp. Oh well, didn't matter as we had every intention to play anyway. I didn't notice any restaurant or bar or fancy seating area at this driving range, as compared to the nearby Dome on Wherle or the Paddock dome. It's just about the golf here! And the planes!!

A friend of mine and I had always talked about how bad we wanted to try to play Fox Valley. We had even talked about paying $150 to play in a tournament for charity there. When it became public last year, we immediately started trying to figure out when worked best for us to go play there. The course always looked so amazing and immaculate for the road when driving by and it was always such a tease driving by and knowing that the course is private. Let me just say, I honestly think the course is overrated. It's a nice course, but other courses in the area like Ivy Ridge are better and offer a way better round of golf for the same price. The people that worked at the course were really nice...however, others out playing the course were horrible to deal with, which is why I'm rating it 3 stars. I was originally thinking about 4 stars until I remembered the patrons. Many of them were giving my friend and I dirty looks like we shouldn't be at "their course." I could tell some were bitter about Fox Valley going public. We played with an older husband and wife that were members. The husband was most definitely bitter. The wife loved golf and was friendly towards my friend and I. The husband however, was so annoying. He was complaining non-stop about the course going public. On top of that, he was just an overall dick. My friend or myself would hit a shot and he'd be aggressively telling us to fix our divots while the ball is still in the air. At one point, I hit a shot and hadn't even finished my follow-through and he's telling me to fix my divot. I've played golf long enough and respect the game too much to not fix my divots or ball marks. He'd snicker or make some comment under his breath if my friend or myself hit a bad shot, so by the back nine we had enough and started doing the same thing to him. I beat the guy by a solid 15 strokes and my friend beat him by around 10. These are the types of people that ruin the game of golf and if they are that hurt about their course going public, maybe he should find a new course to be a member at. If it wasn't for people like this, I would've rated the course higher. But if you're going to play here, expect to get paired up with others and just hope they're not members. In a side note, I really liked how the course swapped out the flags on the pins for American flags for Memorial Day.

This is a review of my experience having dinner at the restaurant at Shelridge Country Club. The…read morelast several years during Lenten season, my mother and I have made it a point to get a Friday Fish Fry, usually going to a different restaurant. For 2025, she heard Shelridge Country Club served up a good fish fry so we decided to check it out. In short, we were VERY happy with our experience! We heard we had to RSVP, so we called Wednesday and got a table for two on Friday for 6pm. We arrived about five minutes before and easily found a parking spot right by the entrance. Their parking lot is pretty big so we had plenty of spots to pick from. Note that the entrance to the restaurant was up a set of stairs and we didn't see an elevator. We walked in and saw a few tables full of people but noise levels were excellent and the inside was pretty spacious. We walked up to the bar and told the bar tender we made reservations for 6pm. She immediately found our name and guided us over to our table. Our waitress came a short time later and got us started with cocktails as we looked over the menu, albeit we already knew what we were ordering. Our waitress was courteous, friendly, just lovely! After we placed our fish fry orders, we sat and sipped on our cocktails and nibbled on bread, which came with herbed-compound butter and a cinnamon butter - Both were really good. The cocktail I ordered was called "Hair of the Dogleg", which was Bulleit Bourbon, ginger beer, and Angostura bitters with a lemon wedge. This was excellent, refreshing, a perfect drink to sip on. As I've mentioned many times now, both of us ordered their Fish Fry with Fries, beer-battered (of course), from their "Friday Night Entrees" section of their menu. Our plates consisted of a nicely battered, perfectly fried fish over a bed of thicker-cut, crispy fries, with a side of a coleslaw, and a cup of ketchup, a cup of tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge, and our waitress set out a glass bottle of vinegar. This was phenomenal, the fish was fried perfectly! Not greasy and the beer batter distributed perfectly and the fish inside was hot - Easy enough to cut with only a fork. The star of the show for me though was their tartar sauce. I think this was homemade and had what I thought was dill, which was a gamechanger for me! The tartar sauce had a creamy consistency. I've never had tartar sauce like theirs and easily is the best I've ever had. I really liked their coleslaw too - It was on the creamier side, very mild. In my opinion, this was the best coleslaw side I've had! The bed of fries was cooked perfectly, not overly seasoned and plenty crispy. In 2025, the price of Shelridge Country Club's fish fry is $16 and it was worth every penny! A big fish, tons of fries, nicely portioned cup of coleslaw - I walked out of their perfectly full. We really appreciated having the head chef, Caitlin, stop by our table and chat with us about our experience, I felt she really does enjoy being at Shelridge. Both my mom and I had a wonderful dining experience at the restaurant in Shelridge Country Club! The dining area, the staff, the food, all were excellent. I'm willing to say this is one of the best fish fries I've ever had - their tartar sauce and coleslaw really elevated the meal for me. I can't wait to come back again and grab a cocktail and Friday fish fry!

The course was always well maintained and beautiful. The greens here are really tough and getting approach shots to hold can be a nightmare, but that's what makes the layout both fun and challenging. I have been thinking about getting a membership there now that I live a little closer to the course to be able to just play one place consistently and they have very reasonable membership prices.
